Cowboy Chicken in McAllen

I had the chicken sandwich. It was good it wasnt dry.

One of my absolute favorite lunch/dinner spots that I always tend to forget about and I do not know why (probably location). The chicken is always amazing and not dry. My favorite side is the creamed spinach (seasonal), but they have a lot of other options as well. If you are not a skin eater I recommend you try the skin on this chicken. It is so tasty and when fresh its crispy too (take-out can soften it). If you havent been here yet you need to go!!

We really love this joint. Whether it is their family meal options, their plates, sandwiches and even their salads. All great. The staff is also friendly and helpful. If you use their app I often get rewards and promotional stuff.

The Food was not great at all. The Chicken was very very Tiny and dry. Dont ask for a Breast and Wing because you definitely will get a very tiny breast and literally no wing. The sides were awful as well. I could of bought way better Food at HEB

Nothing to write home about to justify the high price tag. $32 for one chicken and 3 large sides. Chicken was pretty bland. Also tried the brisket sandwich. At almost $13 after tax, I know I would have been served a much better tasting brisket sandwich at another place.Very friendly staff is the only reason I am giving 2 stars.

Clean environment cozy feel to the establishment. People here were really nice. The food was excellent and the meal came with several sides. Everything was fresh made.

The chicken is so tasty and my favorite thing about Cowboy chicken is all delicious sides. I enjoy the green beans, Mexican corn , Mac and cheese and broccoli. Definitely recommend and I absolutely love they continue to offer curbside pickup with a smile.

If you are eating there and salsa is free to use “and it’s the speciality salsa for the chicken, that makes it taste better”, please don’t charge for salsa on orders to go because you want to sell your house salsa bottles. If you wanna make a profit out of it, sell it on supermarkets. But Come on, it’s just salsa! It’s common sense. Hate to stop going to places for this same reason.

First time here and Im definitely coming back. I had half a chicken no sides cuz Im trying to cut back on carbs. Everyone was very friendly and they were super quick.

Very good portions and very nice people. I was eating with my sister and didnt realize they were closed. They didnt rush us out or tell us they were closed but asked if we needed anything else like a refill so we can enjoy our food. Will be coming back more often.

The chicken of course is their specialty, cant go wrong. Even the salads are great tasting and filling. This time around I tried the brisket tacos. I was impressed, they were better then I thought. The meat was good, but not if youre looking for that 12 hour smokey flavor. Aside from that anything you get here, obviously with chicken, is going to please.

Was my first time there, I let the cashier know and she was like “oh okay”. I work in the restaurant industry, she could’ve helped me out with the menu but as I was asking questions she was looking at me and responding like if I should know the menu already. Unprofessional service. Chicken was good, beans were spicy didn’t know that so I just ate fries with ranch, and my rice was cold.

Overall a bad experience. First, the place was very dirty. Lots of tables that needed to be cleaned and a lot of stuff on the floors. Ordered some chicken sandwiches, and found small bones in them. Very dangerous as we were not warned the chicken sandwich could contain bones. To top it off, it was pretty expensive. Paid just over $30 for 2 chicken sandwiches and 2 drinks and the quality of the food seemed no different than that of many fast food places. Would not recommend.

Got a whole chicken cut up and a serving of Mexican Street Corn.

Chicken Delicious service was bad the cashiers not at all friendly I couldnt believe it ask for some lids and a bag to go and young girl was not at all friendly. When we were leaving the girls were looking at us and laughing. I wasnt at all impressed.with serve. I dont think I will be going back

We love Cowboy Chicken at work! Great food and speedy delivery.Today, I tried the DURANGO BOWL. It has rotisserie chicken breast, ranchero beans, Spanish rice, roasted tomatoes, onions, corn, cucumber, salsa, and avocado sauce. I loved it! It felt home-cooked.The lemonade was good, too!

First time here. Staff was super friendly. Got my food pretty quick. Definitely will be coming back! I got myself the “half chicken.” Consider sharing if you’re not super hungry.

Ordering was fast and easy just like me. Brisket sandwich was really good. Cucumber Jalapeno lemonade was really good too with a nice kick.

Great tasting food, courteous service, good value. I ordered the half chicken all white, sweet potato, and cucumber tomato salad. My only issue was the roll that comes with plate was very dry and past its prime. The order was so much food that half was saved for later. Two people could have eaten, and well, with the amount of food that was provided.

So I liked this place the first time around. But todays customer service was downright embarrassing. First, I ordered a beverage from their fridge that required a bottle opener. Then they cant take it from my hand because I grabbed it, so I must go around the counter myself to open it. Then, I found a long hair across my food shortly after my first two bites. I politely address the concern to my cashier, Avery, and she confirms with whom I assume is a superior cashier. He then asks if I only want the side replaced that had the hair that he saw. I dont understand how you could offer that as a remedy to the issue of the contaminated plate. Sad to say that the red flags kept on piling up. I then hear those same two cashiers joking about whose long hair it was likely. No manager ever came out to note the concern whatsoever. Im not sure one was even on duty because then I see staff come out sitting by the condiment bar area drinking a Coors beer and chit chatting with all the front staff. This experience just continued to progressively get worse by the minute.

We got there and they had a very clean and fast service. They are very friendly we love their food it was very good. The mashed potatoes were not like I like but they were ok.

The enchiladas and French fries are delicious!!! I also love the green beans and Mexican street corn. Its always a must-have when Im in the area!

Food is tasty but their customer service is abysmal. Every time I place a mobile order for pick up my food is not ready, I have had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes. Why even bother ordering ahead. The female staff is awful. Twice I have walked in without being greeted. It appears they have no desire to interact with the public. I informed the unexpressive employee I was there to pick up my food. She just handed me my drink without uttering a single word or even to inform me that my food was not ready. Not every employee was wearing a mask, the cook was wearing a mask below his nose. I personally think those who work around food should wear a mask.

I had exceptional service today at Cowboy Chicken from Juan and Henry. We were 2 people and we ordered the whole chicken family meal with potatoes, Mac, and green beans! Everything was delicious 😋 I will be back!

One Star is being generous not only was the chicken itself was wildly undercooked but the sides like the veggies were soggy and sad. the beans were unexciting, bland, and cold. the staff were unprofessional and rude when I asked about the state of the food. overall horrible experience would not recommend and most definitely WILL NOT be coming again unless Im in the mood to have my evening ruined a second time as well as risk my personal health. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!

Chicken inside the enchiladas was cold.The rice was not cooked with spices. The beans tasted like they were ranch style beans from a can like the ones you buy in HEB. Very disappointed.

This review is based on delivery service experience. Staff is not attentive when orders from third parties come in causing for a big delay at times for the customer purchasing and the delivery driver. Even after food is out at times don’t even tell you until you ask. Service here needs to get better to grow this location.

I love their food but they have slipped these past year. Management would be best served if they fixed some of these issues. Chicken cold, veggies soggy, broccoli is taste but cold. Please spend some time retraining and organizing. Ill be back in 6 months and see how you are doing so I can be a regular once again. Thx! Viva la Jalapeno Lemonade

1st time here. The grilled jalapeños were cold. The side servings of French Fries and Fried Okra was small. I ordered chicken breast and wing. It was OK. 2.5 stars at best.

So if you want food poisoning as a excuse for school order here. When I say HOSPITAL food is better then this place. My chicken was so raw you could hear the chicken clucking still. It had blood pouring from it. My macoroni was black and burnt and don’t even get me started on the potato that looked like slime. Disgusting quality food never again.

Made order online for delivery. Employee called back said cc was declined. No big deal. Gave him another card. Same employee said it too was declined. Okay. My bad. Cancelled my order. Then my bank pinged me and said I was charged for my canceled order. Weird but hey I was going to get my food. Time went by and A HOTEL called me and told me my food was delivered to the front desk! So my CANCELED order was made and delivered and the driver couldnt call and tell me my food was ready. Forget the fact that he delivered it without anyone telling me hey we messed up. Your card wasnt declined. Our employees are just stupid and dont know how to charge a cc called and ask to speak to manager. Was put on hold. Forget you Cowboy Chicken. This location has horrible service.

Food was good, was expecting the texas size containers to be a bit more fuller. What they put in it couldve easily fit in the large. The beans were the only one that properly full. Those were good by the way and the peach cobbler was amazing, very rich... and the lady who helped me was also very good.

This place has the best chicken enchiladas Ive ever tasted! The only meat they serve is chicken and they know what theyre doing. Ive not had anything there that wasnt tasty but the enchiladas are my favorite. They also have a great salad and corn nuggets and green beans and... well, you get the picture. Prices are very reasonable, seating is comfortable and the place is very clean. Service is wonderful which says a lot about the management. Highly recommend!

The chicken was delicious along with my 2 sides of kettle chips and ranchero beans all made there. The place itself is very nice with the chairs and tables made of rustic wood like if you were in a cabin. And the sweet tea is one of the best i have had in a long time!! I highly recommend this place.

Excellent choice in the McAllen area for anyone looking for a convenient, fast and healthy lunch / dinner option. Service is the fastest I have experienced at any restaurant. Most times you will have your food at the table within 3 to 4 minutes after ordering.The quality and consistency of the food is top notch. I am a creature of habit and tend to order the Monterrey salad (see pictures belownearly every time I come here. Never been disappointed with flavor or quality of the ingredients.All in all, this is probably my favorite lunch place

This spot is amazing every single time, never had a bad experience. Super moist rotisserie chicken, and killer sides. They always have a Seasonal Iced Tea to boot, definitely try their proprietary hot sauce too!

First time at this restaurant, the service was great, staff very friendly and I got exactly what I wanted. The cobbler was delicious however it was very small and sad looking. Would come back again and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
