Couqley French Bistro _ Gemmayze - French restaurant in Beirut, Lebanon
I Like this place, it is cozy and calm. I like the Couqley steak which you should try. What is unique about Couqley that you can clearly understand their identity and food style with the combination of wine which is of great taste there.
First time there.Took the 2 person steak + fries + salad + wine offer.Great taste, great service. No complaints.
My most recent visit was dissapointing. The beaten to death steak and frites as well as the soggy salad were not what we were used to. To add insult to injury, service was subpar too.
As always, a pleasant visit to Couqley. The staff were super friendly and the food was ๐๐ผ the steak and fries are a must try (tip: if you are a couple and like to share the steak but have different preferences, have the chef cook it to your preference and then have them recook it further๐In short, a must try if you are in the neighborhood!
We had dinner reservation for two at 10 pm , we were kept waiting 30 min for our table to be ready in the freezing cold next to the door .. our food arrived at 10:50pm , the poulet was not as good as the steak . I guess it was not our lucky night and I am glad it was not our anniversary;)
The service was a bit slow eventhough the place was crowded. We ordered our steaks medium well, however, it was cooked a bit more and the salad had old lettuce and wasnt fresh at all.
Amazing food. Friendly staff. Wide choice of wine. Meats are very good. All in all everything is amazing.
Delicious steak and fries. The pain perdu tastes lovely but i prefer it with a crunch. Good service. Nicely decorated restaurant.
Food was delicious, perfect place, wonderful environmentI removed one star because 2 employees started to fight and swear to each others, I was with my fiancee and she was disturbed because of the offensive language.
An amazing french bistro, very cozy ambiance, quiet and classy perfect for special occasions or even business lunch. Their steak & frites are a must try, the sauce is from heaven. The calamari grillee is also really delicious, and the pain perdu to die for. Highly recommended
Best french restaurant is town ๐๐ปThe steak frites is yummy and the pain perdu is the best ever ๐
Good French bistrot in Gemayzeh area.
Cool settings and atmosphere... Very friendly staff... Good service... They have a very delicious steak sauce that I love... I had this delicious steak... It was a good experience it is highly recommended!!!
Tasty french cuisine with a french decoration and nice atmosphere
Amazing food and service.Always a pleasure going there.
The food was fantastic and the ambiance was awesome. You feel like you are eating in Paris. The prices are good compared to what is served. 4 plates for 100$ really good price. Recommended.
One of my favorite restaurants. The steak frites was perfectly cooked and is extremely recommended however i would not recommend the tagliatelle au saumon for its weird fishy taste.
This was the best french dinner I have ever had in Lebanon. Magrets au canard and foie gras. Great menu. Warm place. Nice staff.
Excellent eating experience... from walking in the door and being greeted by employee, seated and drink order taken, was maybe five minutes. Meal was served hot and excellent taste. Server was very friendly and helpful.the plce is small and crowdy and often there is a waiting list.for that he gets 4 stars.
By far the best escargot Ive ever had in my life. The food is phenomenally good, and the prices are very reasonable. I recommend bringing a few friends and making a night of it. Come hungry. Do not leave without trying the onion soup.
Although my home is in the south of France and I consider France as my home, I have lived in Dubai for 10 years ... I experienced this great French bistro for the first time on my last trip to Beirut a couple weeks ago, and I was so impressed with the great French food, that I organized to come back a day earlier for a meeting I have tomorrow, just to be able to go for a great lunch at this restaurant. No joke. I flew in a day earlier than scheduled just to be able to eat a nice long lunch at Couqley.I was not disappointed. From my two experiences, the food quality is exceptional. I have to say this is probably the best French restaurant (definitely the best French bistroI have experienced in this region ... and I have tried most if not all the top-rated French restaurants throughout Beirut, Jordan, Qatar, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, etc.Awesome, awesome meal. I had the french onion soup - exceptional. the escargot was perfect but the star of my meal is the duck confit. I highly recommend Couqley French Bistro.
Great food and service!
One of the best steak I had ever! The ambience & decor is very French too. The staff really knows what they are doing and are always eager to please. I would define this place as quite authentic French, With more of a traditional type which is the best in my opinion. Would definitely come back next time.
This place is cosy and relaxant. The food presentation was excellent. The couqlet steak fries was so delicious specially with the new sauce. Tagliatelle au saumon fumee has special taste with its white win sauce. The experience was great! I recommend this place for couples, friends!
Frencn bistro open in jemayze, dbaye and broummana. Famous for its steak et frite and pain perdu for a valid reason. Order the steak medium rare for a wonderful taste. Their selection of wine is perfect as well. Nice, friendly and knowledgeable staff in all branches.
Very nice and calm place. The ambience was amazing and the food was even better. I recommend the steak, its their specialty and its the best
Liked it from day 1. At some point kitchen went off track but now back to being very good with excellent wine list. Promotion now gets me In a mood to book again
Best french cuisine experience at average priceTwo people can eat and drink wine at 100$ easilyI would have put 4.5 stars because i know a second place the gives you the ultimate experience in french cuisine, but at much higher price.
Great restaurant in Mar Mkhael district of Beirut! Really recommended
Incredible. The mushroom appetizer was divine, the salmon and sea bass were perfectly cooked and uniquely spiced BUT the pain perdu was .... heavenly. All of the staff was friendly and attentive and our waiter Elie was the best.
I had a good time there. The food and the location of the restaurant were amazing. The service was OK.The Pain Perdu was the best I ever had.
More than excellent service, very tasty food. Prices are fair. A must visit bistro. Ask for Ellie to serve you, very friendly guy
Great food , great service. Staff there are very nice.. not a cheap restaurant when it come to prices, but its good for what you get ..
Nice place. The food is amazing, specially the signature steak. Plus, their sauce is the best sauce Ive ever tasted.
The best duck confit ever, and I have had quite a few in my life! So juicy, felling off the bones a perfect combination with caramelized onions and sautรฉed potatoes. The house bread also deserves a mention, extremely tasty, especially the darker sort. The prices in the restaurant are typical Beirut or a little bit higher, but worth it.
Nice place... food always the same good quality. Some waiters there shouldnt work in the service industry.
I went to this place without any reservation. No wait at the door, lovely staff, excellent service, the food is clean and tasty, their sauce is simply the best.Recommended for the ones who love fine and fancy dinners !
Super average food, with mediocre service. The waiter hit my head with the dish i had to wait for a few seconds for him to appologise. Their calamare is sour and their steak frite is average
Ive been a fan of couqley for a long while. They have excellent food. I particularly love the steak frites and the duck confit, and their pain perdu is delicious, but last time we visited it, I ordered eggs benedict and I was disappointed. Nothing special about these. But most importantly, we were charged about 8000 LBP for a water bottle. Seriously!
Amazing place.... excellent food.... - 1 star because it was too noisy... a lot of people talking loud and laughing
Still a prime choice for french bistro food lovers. Service is excellent and quality of food is at its utmost level. Prices surely reflect all the aforementioned criteria
A good restaurant with a nice setting. Friendly staff. Super and quality food. Good and fast service. Music is OK. Price is affordable.
Nice quiet place. Very sophisticated. They have mouthwatering onion soup but I ordered chicken which was very bland and under spiced. Maybe stick with steak in this restaurant.
Best steak frites in town.
Cross the Alleyway, take the right turn and walk into the Parisian bistro. Couqley has secured its place a long time ago in the french cuisine scene, placing the barre high with a menu carefully selected by its Chef Alexis Couquelet. We enjoyed our evening despite some disturbances with lovely company sharing good food in a homey warm ambiance.Roy was very sweet catering our requests, with some delays that were overlooked as attentive as he was!The bread basket comes wrapped with a cloth to kept tender and warm; comforting carbs are always welcome! My lemon juice with the sparkling water was hard to get! It took me few reminders to any waiter my eyes laid on before getting it:pWe ordered:- All time famous Steak and frites, cooked "ร point" coated with a creamy sauce and accompanied with crunchy fries- Filet de boeuf:- Tartare de saumon: with reduced oil, as per my request. I loved how it comes without an avocado base but with peppercorn and chives, Light and fresh as you would want it.
Their signature dish is still as great as it was when I fist visited and is highlyyyy recommended!!! Best Steak ever! Soo juicy, tasteful and cooked as preferred. Unfortunately the place closes between 3pm and 8pm.
You can never go wrong with Couqley. The easy to use reservation system, the courteous staff, the great selection and mostly the amazing food. Looking for that authentic French bistro experience? Look no further, this is the place to be.
This place is the definition for a good steakhouse. It is mandatory to try the pain perdu there for its the best in lebanon. Romantic ambience and a good place to have some steak and wine
I visited this place a few years back on a discovery attempt. Upon arrivel the hostess measured us up and identified us as non regulars and as a party of 2 not worth being seated anywhere decent so we were given a table in the furthest corner of the place near the kitchen exit just across from a make-shift cooling unit which they had seemed to place there and that was making a constant whirring sound. As we sat down we noticed the AC vent over the bar facing us on the left was dripping water on the bar and in front of it, so much for that French atmosphere which they so hard try to PR-shove down peoples throats.Getting a waiter to notice us, being given a menu and making our order was an ordeal and the dishes were served in haste, as in the guy placed the dishes on the table while looking elsewhere (perhaps there was a good tipping table on the floor we did not know about).Even asking for the check involved waiting 10 minutes! The food was good though, not exceptional like some would want you to believe, but ok.
The food here is all excellent, the steak frites one of my favorites. The wine selection is relatively plentiful and fairly priced. Highly recommended.
