Cotacachi Cayapas Ecological Reserve in San Lorenzo de Esmeraldas

This is one my favorite places in Ecuador. The landscape and Laguna are indescrible. Their is also a path around cuycocha that takes anywhere from 5-7 hours depending how fast it slow you walk. The views are breathtaking, and the boatride around the smaller islands in the middle of the lake is worth it for 3$ and a cinnamon drink afterwards.

its just grass i love rolling on grass but it was very unstable and i nearly died and fell of the cliff but i safe now

Amazing place for a walk!

Very beautiful lagoon inside of the caldera of the volcano Cuicocha (from the Quichua Cuy: Guinea pig and Cocha: lagoon). I enjoyed the trekking around of the lagoon (4 - 5 hours).

Scenic and good for photographs. Need to climb stairs or can get bus. Good view of volcano. Has expensive gift shop and small cafe

Diversity landscape unique in the world

Great walking area. Very well marked 4 hour trail around the lake, starting at 3100 m going up to 3500 m. Amazing views and variety of terrain the trail takes you. Start walking on the right from park office.

Amazing and beautiful.

The lagoon, the mountains and the round trail. You get amazing views of the lagoon from wvery possible angle. The hike isnt so tough and can be finished in 4-5 hours depending on your pace. Its better to get there early to have no one but your group :)

Great hike! It was harder than expected but the views were worth it.

Beautiful place, if youre close you cant miss it. For $3 you can ride in the boat in the lake and they tell you the history of the lake, get ready to be splashed a bit.

Free entrance, well maintained and marked paths. Well accessible by. Public bus and taxi combo.

Do not forget a jacket. The water is cold and you get splashed.You need to buy your tickets inside, and ask for a taxi to return to Quiroga. If you share it, you will pay less. The travel from Quiroga to Cuicocha lagoon is 5 dollars, and the ride in the boat is 3.50 p/p

Virgin nature

Its an incredibly beautiful place. The mountains in this area are really beautiful, reaching up to 5000 meters. There are trekking routes up to 5 hours too.

A good place to enjoy the nature ...

Great place! The Loop is very easy to find and its easy to medium level, when we went it was raining a little bit, so the road went a little bit slippery. I highly recommend going there with Mountain boots and rain jacket. Definitely worth it.

Special place, well worth the effort of walking around. The views change quite a lot so I really would encourage you to go all the way around. It takes 5 hours so get there before lunch, last entrance is at 5 and I think there is 24 hour security so if you get there late and need a taxi back to Cotacachi youre not completely screwed.

This is an amazing place to visit.there is a trail to hike around the lake, which takes about 4.5 hour to traverse, and there is a local museum to learn more about the history of the surrounding region. It is a really nice place to visit.

Its a pretty nice Lake. There is so cold. The people can take a walk around the Lake that take about 4 - 5 hours.
