Coronation Market Jamaica - Fresh food market in Spanish Town, Jamaica
If you got allergies, you gonna a need a mask and glasses/shades. The mixture of the different spices, foods etc will cause you to sneeze repeatedly and your eyes and nose runny. Overall, its a good place to get fresh produce.
A true slice of Jamaica. Busy with vendors and even busier pushcart operators. Watch your back and feet or you might get run over or lose some toes. Fresh produce everywhere with a wide variety of goods. Freshly picked fruits and vegetables, the root vegetables with the beautiful color of the red earth still clinging to the skin. Pumpkin 6 to 7 inchs thick, yum! Peas and beans, roots medicines, dry goods, pots, pans, and all manner of household products. Dont flash your cell phones or hand bag and you will be all right.
I go there on weekends to shop for food stuff...love going there
It was nice being in the market to get my daily goods
Always my first choice for fresh vegetables ground produce and fruit always...
Good place to shop for for fresh foods
Even though the market was wet due to the weather, l still found what l wanted.
Bargings, friendly sellers and qualify food. No harassment so you can shop with ease.
It is best to get there early. There you will get the freshest produce at very good price. The best pumpkin , yams to peas and beans to fruits and vegetables. Great place to shop. The sellers are very interesting.
Market was ok,the prices was ok,one the though the did fall so the place was wet,but beside all of that, it was ok
🤣🤣🤣 I have to laugh as a coping mechanism as Coronation market is stressful, hot and crowded depending on the day in the week. However, if in need of good prices for local and imported goods then its a sure place to be. At the end it will leave you sapped and sticky in need of a good shower.
I go there to sell goods as well as purchase goods. Mostly the prices are good and if you are early there , the quality of the items are are very good.So you are able to purchase, fresh fruits and vegetables as soon as they come into the Market . Your ground provisions as they are called. You get Yams ,Seeet potatoes Irish potatoes .Plantains ,Ripe or green in good quality. Ripe Bananas green Bananas.Spices ,yellow ginger, nutmeg , cinnamon. Garlic, Onions Escallions, Cabbage, Beetroot. Thyme ,Pepper, sweet pepper or Bell pepper.Carrots ,Tomatoes Water Melon. Zucchini. Honey Dew . Canttilope.Pineapples.Pears are now in season and we in Jamaica have a large variety to chose from. And alot of dry goods. Harberdashery and Household items.
Thursday and Saturday are the best Market days where fresh foods fruits and vegetables are in abundance and most importantly you have a wide variety to choose from. For the last month or so, I have been capitalizing on the breadfruit and pear which is one of my family favorites
I think I went there the wrong day ,nothing much was in the market and it was very expensive it was a friday
Prices are a bit high but shopping is far better in the early mornings because the produces are fresh
The prices are reasonable, but I dtef going. The government should create a separate space for the vendors alongside the wall for them to rest instead of on top of the food with their mattresses
For the freshest products you have to go to the coronation market... Fresh produce from everywhere in Jamaica all some imported ones to with the best prices available just have to walk to get the best prices available from the wide array off vendors from morant point to negril point. Saturday is the best day to shop, its what you call market day that is when you find the market fully stock from about 4am vendors are out ready and waiting. So if you go early you get to pick the freshest and the best of the produce...
Inexpensive produce but scary. Everybody who I asked to go with me to coronation market was afraid to go. They say I should be afraid, I did have to pay someone to watch the Audi while I was gone. I feel like theives were lurking. I kept my and my companies personal belongs close and in site at all times. Its not how I want to live. Why not post a police officer there. "Miss Jamaica" I love you, but do better. I know you can.
All you need from nature is here. Environment would be rated 5 stars by me if it received regular cleaning. Best market experience in the world.
Fresh fruits, vegetables and ground provisions are available in great quantities. Very busy on the weekends ..you can shop around for bargains and affordable deals..
Busy market with good prices. Visit early to get the best choice of goods.
Coronation market absolutely great price is good vegetables, ground provisions ect awesome ! and a again I go there for quality and the price
Market needs improvement to modernize its overall function and outlook. The market is underutilized in its current structure and operational setup.
Classic place to go and visit. Even if your not buying goods. You have to go and be apart of the entire experience!! BEST!!!
Great place to shop on a Thursdays and Saturdays for your ground provisions, vegetables and more. Prices are reasonable that supermarket or roadside. Ensure you wear a sneaker and have your shopping bags. If dont have bags you can purchase on spot.
A good place to shop for your food products. Very reasonalble. Just need a little shake up.
Nice place to shop 👌 lovely kind hearted people, with understanding...get all you need in this market unbelievable
I love shopping at the carnation market. Its always a vibe inaddition to the things being reasonable.
Its the best place to get fresh food at the best prices! Just be street smart and youll be fine
The market is not as crowded at around 10 a.m. and so you can see clearly what you want and have a hassle free shopping experience.
Fresh ground provision, fruits and vegetables. Reasonable prices. First for a long time I buy food and there is dirt on it. That means it was grown in the ground and not in a lab.
Always leave here with market bags of fresh vegetables, ground provision and fruits. I walk and compare prices and freshness, I have a couple stalls that I always stop at to get the necessary produce, all in all a good stroll among stalls of fresh produce and different characters as they beckon you indulge in their offers. Here is where my Saturday mornings start, rise early before the sun and take advantage of the freshness that the market has to offer and leave before the sun peaks.
At time of visit, was in a rush and made a quick stop across from "Tivoli",I got all that I needed amongst 4 vendors.
Good experience buying local produce at a reasonable price, also they are fresh from the farm
It was a wet morning, also a smooth flowing with traffic and pedestrians. Was worthwhile as there were bargains especially on fresh fruits and vegetables.Notice that there were many competitions among those retailers. Was a good one for me.
This is actually a very great market where mostly locally produced food and fruits are soldParking tend to be combustible.Needs to be cleaner.Returned today for fruits. Market was very busy. The smell of sweet pineapples was delightful bought two though I was not in search of themOverall a great place for local fruits and food.God bless our vendors. God bless our farmersAmen
Was a great experience, every time I visit to go shopping theres always something new. Its an experience of jamaica itself it shows our culture, way of life and the hustle we do to survive. It is in my firm belief that if you cant find an item here it just wont be in jamaica and that everyone should experience the market and all its lifestyle. My con of the market and town area is if your not experience in going there dont go by yourself; beware of pick pockets. My pro tips while going there is to :•No walking around with money, phone, purse or other valuables in hand. Wear clothes with deep pockets and put all money and stuff where you can feel if someone is trying to pick pockets you.•Dont wear fancy jewelry or watches. Youll make yourself a target. This includes ear rings• Make sure to have change(money), by that I mean $5000 bills change this out into 1000 and lower to purchase with.I know my tips may paint a bad picture but I assure you this place is and experience of jamaica itself where you can find anything. You must experience this once.
Always the very best option or alternative for getting farm fresh fruits and vegetables and most any other thing you could think of. Prices cannot be beat and the quality and variety of items is superior. The environment is relatively safe I find. I really dont mind shopping here, though I dont come very often... I am always glad when I do though because I end up being so satisfied with my purchases. Parking options are also available. I generally park on the Tivoli side of the street where the guys can watch your vehicle. They are very professional in there operations. You will come back and find your car after shopping. And they take anything you can give, unlike some other streets in the capital where you are told what the value of the street is!
Food prices are competitive Thursdays from 4:30 pm. Yam, sweet potato, string beans, tomatoes, escallion, carrots, pumpkin, cabbage were sold at $50/lb. Prices varied in the market. Green bananas sold at $50/doz. There were many food items in the market. Bargain prices are availableThursday evenings on many items.
A very culteralistic and interesting place to shop. Both the vendors and consumers who comes here to sell or shop from different regions of Jamaica brings their own special way of speaking and believes makes it a wonderful place to shop.
Filled with culture and tradition also have warm welcoming feeling vendors always aim at putting their best foot forward. And just like anywhere in the world you of to look out for a few pick pockets, but is overall good for market shopping
On entry nto the market place, you are grabbed by the inviting smell of the variety of fresh products of the Jamaican countryside, The visual impact to the senses of colour, chatter camaraderie & simple positive vibes, reflects of a very real Jamaican working lifeIt is impressive to the unknown
I visited the market on Thursday, March 24, 2022 and it was bountiful. Fresh, fresh food, fruit and vegetables of all description. All the vendors I related with that day were more than pleasant.
Prices were good. However, a lot of patience is needed to navigate the space. Higglers still spread their produce on the ground instead of on the concrete stalls made for them. This limits the walking area....but then again a part of the market experience is shouting out hot water, hot water, let me through...
I would always go to the market with my mom and I loved it. You can get the freshest fruits and vegetables at the market. The prices are much lower than the prices in the Supermarket and you will definitely get a deal for your money.
Freshhh fruits & vegetables at probably half the price youd purchase them anywhere in Kingston Jamaica
I go to this market every Thursday. Thursdays and Saturdays are the times that the fresh produce comes in from the country. People are fair and honest. One point of warning do not wear any jewelry and keep a tight hold of your phone and money. Most people are very helpful, but occasionally with crowds people look to take what is not theirs.
Fresh vegetables and fruits. Must know going prices for shopped items. Bring a strong big bag. Dress comfortably and very basic as it is a huge local market not an upscale venue. Lots to buy from fresh lobster and fish to in season fruits. Prices are very cheap. A must see and shopping place.
Fresh fruits, fresh ground provisions, warm atmosphere. Its a little noisy but a little noise wont hurt your ears. The beauty of this place is that you the buyer can choose who to buy from and if you dont like the price you switch to another seller. Freedom of choice.
Was nice but frozen seafood never a good idea the lobster was rubbery and all the extra stuff on top was over kill in my opinion
