Cornell Botanic Gardens in Ithaca
Description
Privilege
Beautiful and peaceful. Had lots of spots that gave you a lovely vantage point from which to look at the garden from different angles or take nice photos
MoreAbsolutely beautiful! Everything is labeled which makes it easy to learn about the different plants. The variety is massive, and its easy to spend hours walking around and enjoying all of the gorgeous paths. Theres lots of benches set up along the different paths/areas which is nice also. Lots of parking nearby and in their lot.
MoreI love being out in controlled nature. We visited the herb and winter garden. There were some flowers that still had flowers on them, and bumble bees thought that was just great. There are nice sitting areas to relax and absorb the peace.
MoreEven MORE beautiful during Fall❤️
It seems like youre close to green space maintained by the botanical garden no matter where you are on campus. This is not at all a bad thing. If you need restrooms or trash, you have to be there (visitors centerbefore 5pm. But there are wonderfully curated and delightfully created stops and trails along the length of the campus surrounding the creek and lake, east to west. The only knock was the lack of a trash can...be prepared to pack out what you pack in! I get the squirrel hazard, though. 😁
MoreBeautiful day at the Cornell Botanic Garden. Fall colors are so colorful Friday 10/14.
MoreI was just there early morning. No fee for garden. Parking first hour free. Just need to get the parking receipt.very beautiful garden . It was somewhere that my me happy.
MoreAmazing. Simply amazing. Its amazing how many different plant, herbs and flowers etc are here and labeled. Its absolutely beautiful...and educational.
MoreBeautiful place! And huge! Very nice botanical garden
Gorgeous. The Nevin Welcome Center is fully accessible. Nearby herb garden could be more accessible. If your power chair or wheelchair can handle going over grass, you’re golden. Otherwise, you’ll be on the periphery.
MoreSimply beautiful. The grounds are layed nicely with labels identifying the large variety of plants. Just a very nice place to enjoy.
MoreThis place is beautiful. The gardens even in late September were full of vibrant colors and textures. Absolutely worth the trip.
MoreAbsolutely beautiful and peaceful.. will be back.
Highly recommend visiting all the gardens, time.permitting. grounds well kept and plants were labeled. Very nice.
MoreIf you have time. This is somewhere you can spend the entire afternoon. Just find a chair and enjoy.
MoreThis is one of the most beautiful places in Ithaca. If you’re in the area for a visit, definitely stop by! I was finally able to visit while everything was in bloom and I am so happy I did. So many beautiful flowers, insects, plants, birds, trails, and more!
MoreBeautiful place with lots Plants with huge no of flowers
I could easily spend days here taking in the gardens and displays. The drive is beautiful and parking was easy if you want to get out and wander.
MoreBeautiful, definitely worth the visit. It was a lot less crowded and cooler above the main building (near the summer house). The gardens were amazing.
MoreNice trails and very pretty. I only wish they had roses because that what my daughter wanted to see. 2 to 2 1/2 hours is a good time to spend there
MoreGood selection of various plant life and beautiful flowers. Not a huge area so it’s easy to walk around in. Located next to Cornell Dairy Bar so it’s a great place to come after or before a sweet treat.
MoreThe botanic garden is nicely layered out and well maintained. The herb garden is interesting to walk around. This is great place for kids. I wish the vegetable garden across the road was in a better condition.
MoreOne of the best gardens I have visited ever in terms of botanical variety, their arrangement, and information. You can enjoy streaming audio while touring through place. Loveable site.
MoreImpressive range of very well labeled plants and herbs.
The gardens were lovely, I wish there had been a guide to point out some of the more exotic species.
MoreAmazing place to wander at any time of the year. Park your car at any of the many parking places around the Cornell Botanical gardens and Arboretum.
MoreGardens have a great collection of hydrangeas with many tropical plants. Also interesting evergreen trees on the grounds.
MorePeaceful. Nice. Well maintained. With no entry charge, better than the New York Botanical Garden.
MoreMany kinds of flowers here that u can walk around and enjoy the fresh air…
We loved this place! So many different kinds of plants and flowers.Very well maintained. Will definitely go again.
MoreVery pretty even though we missed peak bloom. If you love flowers this is a wonderful Botanical Garden.
MoreOne our favorite places in the Ithaca area. So much to explore! The grounds are well maintained. There so much information about all different types of plants and trees. Each season offers a different perspective.
MoreMust visit even if you are not into flowers, plants or trees. Just take a stroll and let it nourish your soul. Budget for some fair amount of time while visiting this place. Place is simply too gorgeous and nourishing.
MoreBeautiful grounds, a very nice walk. We were particularly struck by the size of some of the hibiscus flowers in full bloom!
MoreA beautiful botanic garden. Masks are required for the visitors center. The herb garden is magnificent with a huge variety of herbs sorted by purpose. Beautiful flowers and a wonderful selection of trees.
MoreThe late summer flowers (August 15were in full bloom. A wonderful shade plant and ground cover display was encountered along a meandering path under mature tree cover. I saw the biggest Cornus Mas Ive ever seen, about 18" caliper. Definitely worth a visit. We spent 1 1/2 hours in the garden near the visitor center. We needed another couple of hours for the arboretum and the trails. Well have to come back again.
MoreThe best botanical garden I have been to by far. It was very interesting to see the vegetable garden. The herb garden is put together very well and is divided by sections based on medicinal use or dye use or even herbs in romance novels.
MoreThis place was absolutely stunning from all angles. Very tranquil and so many beautiful flowers, herbs, trees, bushes, etc. Another plus was i came after 5pm which parking is free thereafter. Took so many magnificent photos. Will be coming back here in the future.
MoreVery beautiful. Well kept grounds. The only problem was trying to figure out how to get the parking machine to work.
MoreI was unaware of this place. Im glad a friend told me about it. My 11 year old had a blast. Its very spread out and detailed. I will definitely be going back. Its a decent spot to go for a multitude of walks and hikes
MoreReally enjoyed this botanical garden and the grounds. It’s bigger than I expected and the diversity of flowers were amazing! The visitor center was closed but it looked modern and nice! This has tons of nooks and crannies to explore so bring your walking shoes! The vegetable garden was worth a see too! I highly recommend this place!!
MoreBeautiful place! A couple of points: we went on a weekday in July. The visitor center is not open on weekdays this summer. There was no notice posted about when of if they opened at all. These were the only bathrooms we knew about. Bring your own drinking water, too. No entry fee, and parking is $3.00 IF you can use their parking app and get thru all the pay hurdles. This place may not interest children-- really more of a grown up thing.
MoreOnce you climb all the hills, there is plenty of parking. Maps were available A nice, quiet environment. Arboretum wasnt within walking distance, so drive the short distance.
MoreBeautiful and peaceful. My favorite by far was the herb garden, because of the variety, aesthetics, and the connection to my day to day life. The flower study collections were also quite interesting due to the wacky aesthetics.
MoreFree parking on Saturday and Sunday. Visitor Center is still closed. A great place to take photos or take a quick walk.
MoreLovely place. So glad this is open to the public for free. This place is enormous and there is so much to see from lakes, nature trails, gardens, etc. Cant wait to go back.
MoreBeautiful gardens, with extensive displays of multiple different themes/varieties of plants. We especially loved the herb garden, with so many incredible plants. The information signs also included typical holistic uses, which provided great ideas.
MoreThe botanical gardens are much larger than a lot of photos made it seem. This was totally worth going, there was a lot to look at and so many beautiful plants. Parking is normally $3, it was free the day that I had went. This is a great stop if youre between a hike and dinner, or trying to fill your day in with something that requires less physical activity between hikes.
MoreA great place to walk, not extremely crowded and populated beautiful views and will maintain walking paths around the property. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area! take some time to check out the ponds that are filled with beautiful little goldfish, and a bridge where you can relax for a bit of a breather!
MoreLove gardens? Then come in any season, this is a superb world class demonstration and educational garden that changes constantly. My visit was early fall, but I plan to go again in spring. The entire area is full of charm.
