Cork City Museum - Museum in Cork, Ireland
Always worth visit
There is a wonderful exhibition on the Irish War of Independence here at the moment. I highly recommend it.
Brilliant museum! Its really cork centric and give you a brilliant history of the city, for novices and experts! Weve been here normally and for culture night. The passion seeps through here, the curator (forgot his namegave a great talk and rundown of the museums collection and the work that goes in to it! A brilliant institution that deserves support
Really good tour for culture night
very well presented
This place is great for a free museum. They had a little treasure hunt for the kids and they got a stamp when finished. Kept them entertained while they were learning about history at the same time. The Lady on reception was very friendly also
Great place. A butter demonstration was on the way with testing! Nice
First time here since childhood, fantastic spot. Sat and listened to a lecture on the history of the Royal Munster Fusiliers 👍🏻 top notch 👏👏👏
Great display of information and its free!

Absolutely amazing place to visit and its free!
I voted 5 stars because the first of all is public for evryone, no fee of charge, very well maintained, clean public toilet. The museum have lots of history information and good illustration images. The museum was buit inside a tidy and clean public park. You can spend a whole day in here with your kids and learning something from historicalp, there also have modern structure corners. There was a kid playround and a st Bridgets bridge just at the corner. This place is must a visit place in Cork.
Could do with a bit of input from staff, especially to help visitors and explain our local history.
A must visit if you are in Cork. Beautiful building with great exhibitions on Irish history.
First time in the annexe. Interesting items on Cork history and the contributions to Cork by members of the Jewish community.
Staff extremely helpful- everything quite relaxed which added to the overall experience. A great place to visit 😊 😀
What an amazing facility to have on our doorstep. It is free and it is open Tuesday to Friday. There are plenty of sanitation stations dotted around the whole museum. It has two floors; ground floor has an array of different exhibits from when Cork was established to present. It was interesting to see and read about Jewtown and to see all the different artifacts. On the first floor, there is an exhibit about the War of Independence and of Traveller culture. Would recommend for all the family to visit and enjoy seeing Corks past
Staff very friendly and helpful. Great place to visit for anyone who is interested in history. Cork public museum is inside the ground of Fitzgerald park. Highly recommend a visit here. The ladies restroom is well maintained. The museum is well maintained. It is suitable for buggies. The entrance into the museum is free of charge. Children can run around the grounds after walking through the museum. Theirs stairs inside the museum. Their is a lift for buggies at the museum. Theirs different pieces of history from different times. Theres a cafe in Fitzgerald park. Theirs sometimes bands that play within the grounds of Fitzgerald park. Theirs a public toilet within the grounds of Fitzgerald park.

Lots of local history mainly on local industry . Upstairs there’s two exhibitions that change every couple of months . The museum is free to enter but do leave a donation if you can
Lovely place to catch up with friends at lunch or any other time. Practically in the city centre tranquil and lovely.
It is brilliant and its FREE. You can leave a donation. Two very interesting exhibitions on traveller culture and the lifetimes of Thomas McCurtain and Terence McSwiney are on at the minute.
A great place to see the history of Cork while relaxing in the surroundings of Fitzgeralds Park with good amenities close by.
Huge amount of local history on display. Well curated, interesting and diverse ( the foundation of the state to sporting accolades and the travelling community)Staff are wonderfully welcoming to all. We were a large (loudprimary school group and they accommodated us no problem.
Great Museum. Wonder exhibition.
Like many Irish cities and towns Cork was provided with its own public museum. To make sure that it doesnt have many visitors, especially not those from abroad, the museum is located a good distance outside the city centre in a place called Fitzgeralds Park. Considering the size and importance of Cork throughout Irish history, it is rather small. The permanent exhibition definitively needs some editing. Nevertheless, it has plenty of fascinating artifacts and is well worth a visit. 😀😀😀Wear the mask😷. Protect Ireland🇮🇪.
Plus side:Its free. Some interesting articles.Minus side:Bit exhausting tracing ref numbers to exhibits.Set up is a bit dated and poorly lit.Opening hours, not open Sunday? Why?Large parts of the building had empty cases from a exhibition that had ended and yet another area had been cordoned off.Pretty poor overall for a city museum.
Great history here, exhibits are a bit hard to read because of the labeling
Small museum with some interesting displays about Cork history. I wouldnt make a special trip, but worth a quick look as part of a visit to Fitzgerald Park
I am visiting from the US and taking in the city my grandmother came from. This wonderful museum summed up Cork history very nicely. Beautiful grounds and a lovely cafe around the back. It was a nice place to relax and have a coffee. Highly recommend this place.

Fantastic museum well worth the visit! Friendly and helpful staff, thank you Kara, definitely recommend and enjoy the gorgeous park afterwards
Not open all the time ridiculous really.
We went to the museum on a school trip. The people were really friendly. We enjoyed the museum and learned a little more about the great history of Cork. 👌
They have a lot on Cork history and its in Fitzgerald park so you can have a nice stroll afterwards or if you have kids they can play in the playground also theres a cafe next door.
One of the cities hidden gems and staff full of knowledge about the citys past. definitely worth a visit if youre out in the park
Great day there. 40 of us TLI Went to see some of t he lace collection. It is beautiful. Great staff there. We will be back.
The museum is small but also not interesting. I didnt enjoy it at all. Nice staaf6, that the plus side
Very informative with a huge collection of things from very different periods of time. Loved the old clothes there and how old tools or silverware were actually found in county Cork.
Great little museum.
Fantastic. Theyve Daniel OConnells overcoat, several Michael Collins related items and a Manchester United shirt worn by Roy Keane. Excellent!
It was interesting with a nice collection. Be sure to leave a contribution as there is no entrance fee. There are stairways thday make or more interesting getting around. Thete was an exhibit on nudes and we appreciated that it was behind closed doors as we were not interested in it. Pay attention to the woodwork detail around the place as or is beautiful.
Its a great museum. It is very informative and has a nice collection. However Cork needs alot more museums. For a place with so much history and tourists there are very few museums however they have started opening more museums!
Loved it the admission Is free has a awesome trench replica I loved the traveler exhibition and the tiny model of cork in the 1800s
Strange place, very unsure of hours. However, profound display of WWI trench warfare, as well as historical displays from neolithic to turn of the century Cork history.
