Calle Judíos, 20, 14004 Córdoba, Spain, Cordoba
Well-preserved medieval Jewish place of worship with courtyard, stuccoed hall & women's balcony.
A tiny but beautiful synagogue. Definitely worth a visit on your walk through the old city.
I have excursion tour a few weeks ago from my Erasmus University - LoyolaAll I can say: it was amazing and tour guide was perfect. I have learned a lot of about history which I know, but not so good. You should visit it, of course.
The attached photos are all there is to it.
From the Alcazar we went towards the Jewish streetThroughout it you see Jewish motifs, street names, the Rambam statue and more.Entrance to the synagogue is free. You can only see a small part of the synagogue and its a shame that it hasnt been renovated because we could see the whole thing. The architecture is reminiscent of the Alcazar and Alhambra buildings, in which the walls are also filled with writing carved into the wall. Some of the items can be seen in the Jewish House of Spain
It’s literally a 3 minute visit. Not much to see and definitely not worth the walk to see it.
Small, you need to queue for a few minutes to gain entry but it’s free and definitely worth a look around
Magical time travel
I was able to visit one portion and it was very nice to see the remains of the synagogue. It’s a shame that not much is left but what I did see was very beautiful.
Lovely and free to visit. Worth to wander by for a few snaps.
A+
Very small place, expected more. Our mistake.
Tiny little synagogue, not sure is worth the wait in the sun.
Small, free admission with some brief explanations on the writing on the walls, but it lacked explanations of the significance of the place - what Jews had been through, why this place is important and what it symbolizes for a lot of people.
Actually not that much to see. But its free. So take a look. Its nice but takes only a couple of minutes
Not much to see, but its free
Beautiful piece of Jewish History in Cordoba, especially where רמב"ם was born.
An easy and quick visit but make sure its open as the hours were limited.
Excellent temple full of hebrew writings on the wall
First synagogue ive visited. Such a shame that more hasn’t been preserved as it pretty. Not far from the Mosque- Cathedral.
Quick little jem in the middle of Córdoba. Interesting history and worthwhile stop. Should only take 5 or 10 minutes to see the whole thing. Plus free!
The touching site of one of Spains only surviving synagogues from before the Spanish Inquisition
Very small synagogue but worth a visit if youre on route from Alcazar to the Mosque-Cathedral.
Its a really small synagogue, you hardly need more than 15 minutes, unless you understand Hebrew and therefore could read the writings on the walls. I think, I spent more time queuing than what I spent inside the synagogue. But its worth visiting when youre already in Cordoba! The city is full with history, so great to have the time to hear it and visit the most important places.
The synagogue is very small and the entrance was free when I visited. You will spend maximum 10 minutes here. The neighborhood is very nice, you should have a walk around the narrow streets and explore the nice architecture.
Interesting historical part of Córdoba. Muslim rulers allowed Jews to settle in town.
A beautiful historic site in the midst of Juderia in Cordoba. One of the only three remaining Synagogues in Spain, the other two are in Toledo. Should visit when ambling around the alleyways, but do have a guide who can explain its historical significance and how it was rediscovered in the 19th century
Interesting to visit this 500+ year old synagogue.
An important place to visit to see & undetstand the history of codoba iewish life anf traditions and some impotant man and women in past medicine world
Its looking ke feeling the history bit. This synagogue goes back some 500 years. The the room m itself is cubical. A Menorah is a anding as a symbol in the place where the holly cabinet used to be. Please note the hebrew sentence on the wall.
Very small but beautiful. This Synagogue was, of course, a Jewish place for prayer, jews were free to practice their religion and had a place of worship so long as it was not ostentatious, and did not overshadow catholic places of worship...but later the Queen and King exiled all Jews and was converted into a catholic chapel, later, it was recognized as a true synagogue and its now a Museum.
Very moving. Only one small room which has seem many transformations. Well worth a visit. It doesnt take long.
I was there by myself as Asian female.. I tried to get inside, these guys at the front gate stopped me. And said it’s 0.30 euro and I paid to get in for that 5 mins one room visit. It’s impressive. But the following group never been asked for entrance ticket. I am the only one. You don’t need to pay for the entrance fee. I think it supposed to be free.
A great historic and religious site. Looked to me like a mix of all the existing religions. A lot of controversy corners/sections. It can be also treated as a museum due to the big amount of different exhibition pieces 😊
Wow! Impressive and a must see while in Cordova while visiting. The history and information presented by the guide makes come alive. GetYourGuide
Very interesting place,worth seeing
Small synagogue, neatly restored. And with small, they mean SMALL. 1 room, visit takes around 5 min. Entrance free. Avoid to go in with a group (entering with 20+ spoils the experience)
Fascinating place to visit. Well worth the entry fee. Take a guided tour.
Great history lesson. Several floors of exhibits with wonderful background explanations. A moving experience.
Interesting place, very small. Remnants of the very first synagogue in Spain. It is not one anymore, it’s a historical site.
It is not a sinagoga. It is a museum or a model if anything. It is an interesting place though. But they should make it clear.
The Synagogue is currently closed for refurbishment (4th August 2018but when open it will be a great place to see the Jewish and Muslim architecture come to life
Great to see the inside of a building with such an important history, one of only 3 left in Spain. Some well preserved carvings on the stone walls.
Worth visiting. This is one of the major centres of Córdobas former Jewish community in the mediaeval period. You should also visit the museum next door.
Small, but historical. They let folks inside in small groups, so expect a short wait in line. Not too much to see except the carvings of the old walls and some Hebrew writing. Original built in 1315 and is one of only 3 synagogues that survived to Inquisition. Signage is in Spanish and English. Free. Closed Mondays. Go if nearby and no huge line of tour groups, otherwise skip it.
Ramón, the archeologist guide blew mind away. Hes concise and very afable. This place is a must for anyone trying to understand the history of Spain and of the Spanish people
Although small, this is an incredible place to visit. And theres no fee
One room, quite small, but free and fairly interesting with intricate designs
If you are wandering around the old Jewish neighborhood, consider visiting this historic synagogue, one of the only surviving medieval ones left from the Inquisition. There are tastefully short English signs around, and the whole visit will not take more than 20 min for the most thorough tourists. Looking at the gorgeous Hebrew with geometric decorations similar to many Moorish buildings on the walls, you cant help but think of the peaceful coexistence that existed centuries ago.
Its pretty but quite small. No need for entrance fee
I didnt know anything about what happened to theJewish population during the Spanish and Cordoban Inquisition. Learned a lot with the hand out. Take the time to read and educate yourself. Artifacts didnt interest me much though.
