From this place you will experience a 1 in a million view of the city and beach here in copacabana youll thank me later...
Great piece of historyThings are very wellPreserved and the hall passages are well ventilated with extra fans
Fort with a fantastic view of entire Copacabana beach with interesting history and a traditional Cafe thats perfect for breakfast, lunch or a quick snack. A must visit while in Rio!
Copacabana Fort is a place to visit if you are heading to Rio de Janeiro, they have some areas that you can also eat and relax with families overlooking the amazing and stunning views of the ocean and many other activities.
Really interesting and a very large cafe outdoor seating area. Very well done.
Pretty cool spot
Although there is a line up in front and I was told the line up is for breakfast... But actually going into the Fort needs lining up too! After the waiting, I took out my card (and subsequently USDto pay for entrance fee, but only local currency is allowed! The friendly staff (army forcesaw my situation and gave me a free pass ❤️❤️🥰! Thank you for being flexible and understanding. The Fort is very clean and well kept! Grateful to learn the locations history (thanks for Google translate).A morning well spent!
I had a free couple of hours one of our days here so I made sure to stop here. I am so glad I did. The grounds are beautiful and it has some of the most beautiful views and best views of Copacabana. The museum is also really nice and cool to walk around. Plan for a little line to get in but it moves very quickly. The grounds were packed with people and tons of people eating and drinking with a great view.
Great place to visit and spend time with nice copacabana beach view and restuarant.
Great place to look at the iconic beach of Copacabana. It gives you a nice view, a safe place to walk freely and an unique view of the ocean. There are 2 restaurants available there, offering breakfast to delicious finger food. Very traditional food. During the week the entrance is free.
Cool Fort. Amazing views of Copacabana. The real reason to come here is to go to Cafe 18 do Forte and have breakfast sat outside under the trees overlooking Copacabana beach. It’s a fun thought to explore but won’t take you that long. A star is definitely the breakfast outside.
Romantic as hell. They charge about 1,5usd in Brazilian reals only. Its worth it. Sunsets here are a must see.
Nice safe place to visit. Good food but slow service at the restaurant. English menu available. Great opportunities for photos.
Beautiful views and nice buildings but the locations is pretty amazing
It is a great place to visit if you are a tourist and an even better place to chill if you are a local. Great views of Copacabana and Leme. Good food options. Whats not to like! You will be a hero among your friends if you lead them here and show them around.
Queue is too long. They accept only cash :(Upside: very nice views.
Theres usually a significant line up to get in. Not sure if thats due to COVID-19 restrictions or just due to capacity. I tell you its worth the wait. Once you get in the view and tranquility will make you excited you lined up. Make sure you put your name to eat at one of the restaurants inside with this fantastic view!A must stop while visiting Copacabana.
Beautiful place to visit. If you love military history, and enjoy seeing old military weapons systems, this a good place for that. Plus, there are restaurants for you to have a nice meal and enjoy a view of the beach.
About 1 USD to get in. The brunch places inside are great! Amazing view and drinks
Good Copacabana view and there are good restaurants inside. Also old fort and museum. Definitely recommended. Entrance fee is 6 BRL and only cash.
Nice fort with a beautiful view over Copacabana. We would have enjoyed more of the info if it had been translated to English.
A small museum but the view of Copacabana is worth way more than the 6 reais entry fee. The museum takes about 30 minutes to visit and the outside around 30 more walking to the end where the large cannons are. There are also 2 nice restaurants with outdoor seating with great views.
Excellent 👌 view especially sunrise or sunset 🌞 just not forget to be on the group 😉
Awesome Fort with a lot of history and info , unfortunate only in portuguese, but still very impressive , entrance fee only BR$ 6
If you want a feel of how world wars were fought please visit this place. Fort gives you a quick summary of Brazilian politics starting from colonization to world war. A nice collection of war machines as well.Leaving behind the historical aspect a fantastic place to spend a evening , have a evening coffee watch the sunset get some good dinner and make your evening exotic.
The weather was a little yuck but in a beautiful day, take it all in. Eat at Cafe de Forte and grab a table on the water. Great place to take pictures of Copa. Military very present everywhere. COMPLETELY safe to walk alone as a woman. Lots of stairs and walking.
Nice views of copacabana beach and a museum (only in Portugese). Lots of restaurants (a little expensive but with good outdoor seating). Highlight were the cannons on the front inclusive of this happy go lucky owl.
A must visit. Only 6 reais and you get access to some great views, military history, and some famous breakfast place. When I arrived before they opened the line was really long.
Nice musea, unfortunately all the info is in Portuguese and not 1 sign in English. It is all about the history of Brasil and the Copacabana. On this side you have a great view over the Copacabana from the other side of the water.
Used to be a military base and now its a museum and a (fancyrestaurant. Does have parking lot. The opening hours is a little bit odd (even in the summer), so its a good idea to check about it. Best part of it, is the view of the cannon and the Copacabana beach wide view.
The Brazilian Army has transformed this fort in a great cultural space. Nice views of Copacabana,Arpoador and Ipanema. Great coffee shops and a museums to see Brazilian history from the point of view of its proud men’s in green.
Amazing beach in Rio de Janeiro. Its worth a visit. Very clean, enjoy salty sea water, many rescue point and security. Many bars and food stall , ice cream alongside etc....There a small market and occasional food seller...... But be vigilant
The first beach we visited when we arrived in Rio was Copacabana Beach. The sites and sounds of people enjoying the pleasures of sun and waves as they continuosly hit the shores, made for a great day of strolling, swimming and taking in the sun. Fun was had by all Im sure
6 reals for adult - reasonable price. You wont see much inside but it has a nice atmosphere. You will see soldies, little museum, some artillery and thats it. Views are nice.
Nice place to see the sunset, but they close before that :/ price to enter is acceptable but prices of the two cafés inside are excessive, considering the quality and portion.
Great place to visit while you are in Rio. The view from the Fort is excellent and the history inside is nice to know. When you are visiting the upper part of the fort you have the surprise of the cannons and the beautiful view of Copacabana Beach. Also in the way to the Fort, there is a some bakerys around. I recommend the place.
Really amazing spot with great views and nice SAFE cafe. We spent the day at Copacabana and went here for the afternoon and to get a few pictures in. Should have gone there so much earlier. You enter through the secure gates 6 Reals per person. There’s a nice cafe with great pastries and quick service along the waterfront. The views of the beach and sugarloaf are amazing and with the guards there’s no one bothering you to buy anything and no chance of robbery. The only place I truly felt safe in Rio!
Want to know about Brazilian Military History? Come to this place, you will not be disappointed. Overall this is an amazing place not only for Brazils rich history, but for the views which are spectacular! After walking through make sure you stop by one of their Cafes on site and enjoy a Coxinha with a Caipirinha.
Very nice place. You should pay 6 reals and get a lot of fun. There is a museum of fort, nicerestaurant of sweets Confeteria Colombo and the best views on ocean. Be informed that fort is closed on Monday.
A safe and quiet oasis between famous Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. For a small fee you enter the area of the old fort which is flanked by a beautiful seaside promenade under lush trees. While the military museum and fort feature a well made exhibition, the true value lies in the cobblestone road along the sea and its two restaurants that serve decent food and a get is variety of drinks.Their is hardly a nicer, quiet place to be found anywhere near this area.
Interesting visit (no English texts though). Great views of Copacobana from the guns. The entry is not expensive. There are 2 - 3 restaurants within the complex which had great table views.
Best to come enjoy this place at dusk as the sun is setting down and illuminating the beaches of Rio. You can examine the fortress galleries and the underside of the massive Krupp gun from below, as well as climb to the top of the fort and watch the ocean by the side of the huge gun barrels.Unfortunately, the entire expo is in Portuguese, not a word in English. You can also visit a restaurant and a historical museum also located in the fort.
They are now charging to get into the fort which has helped to improve the facilities inside, it is a very nice place to visit with a couple of restaurants.
Its an old military museum where you can enjoy a really good breakfast at the sea overlooking the Copacabana.
This is an awesome Military Museum where you can get up close and personal with Big Guns, check out old barracks and see how this base was run a long time ago. There are also great restaurants with delicious food on the side of being expensive but if you have the money its a lovely setting and a beautiful view overlooking Copacabana. You can even go up on the top of the base and check out one of their biggest guns. Sometimes they have live music and you dont have to buy food to listen to the music just just sit and relax.
Very cool military museum. Definitely worth checking out on your trip to Rio de Janeiro. Some amazing views of Copacabana beach and Sugarloaf Mountain on a clear day. They also have some historic bakeries that have very delicious food and a variety of beverages.
Amazing view! There is also a museum there! Perfect for spend the day and take some beautiful pics! There is a coffee shop there! The entrance is 6 reais only and for students 3 reais.
Budget war museum that isnt super well looked after or updated. The views are worth and its an easy way to kill 45 to 60mins taking in the views.
Good coffee, good view, great place to watch the moon rise. Safe. Historic. Decent price with student discounts available (even for international students).
