Lovely cottage we stayed in near Limerick. The host/owner (sorry I cant remember his name - it was 4 years ago!was great - he left us alone but was always available if ever we needed him as he lived next door. We had a brilliant time.

Traumhaft! Macht weiter so.:-)

The personnel is very good, only drawbacks are, it is far from Limerick and the WiFi does not work very well in one of the buildings.

My wife and I, along with our two young sons, had the absolute privilege of staying at Coolbeg Lodge in Kildimo, Ireland. The reason why we chose it was for the location (10 miles from Limerick, 20 minutes from Bunratty Castle, and 1.5 hours from Doolin to the north (Aran Islandsand Blarney Castle to the south. The owner, Pat Ahearn, was there to meet us at the cottage. He and his wife made tea cakes for all of us, and had tea all ready for us to heat up. Little touches like this are huge. The cottage is old but warm...the radiators work very well. The water pressure is fabulous in the shower, and we never ran out of hot water with 4 of us showering at least once a day. You end up having to purchase your electric and gas usage, but in four nights, our bill for both together was just 16 Euro. The bedrooms are huge. The main bedroom has a queen, and a twin bed, with plenty of space to hang up and drawer your clothes. The second bedroom, on the other side of the cottage, has two twin beds with drawers and a large wardrobe. The cottage offers satellite TV and free wi-fi that works well. The kitchen is "cozy" small, but the appliances work well. There is an open window in the wall to look out to the sitting area with the television, and the view outside of the actual kitchen window is stunning. In fact, there is not a single bad view anywhere in the cottage. Its surrounded by trees and flowers that are cared for lovingly by Pat and his lovely wife, Maura. Theyre both amazing and friendly.Right outside our door was what I could only describe as a little field surrounded on three sides by a 3 foot stone wall. We went to a local toy store in Limerick and purchased a soccer ball, and we had hours of fun outside playing "Football." Even though it was next to the road into Kildimo, we felt safe with our boys outside playing.Speaking of Kildimo, its a tiny, quiet town less than a mile and a half long. Its quaint and friendly. Less than a 10 minute drive away is a fishing spot called Bleach Lough. We called early, and they set us up with a row boat, fishing rods, and even worms. Damien, the big man in the office, could not have been nicer, showing us how to use the gear, and even taking a picture with our boys. We didnt catch anything, but the fish did eat all of our worms. Anglers we are not, but we had an amazing time. The only thing wed recommend is if you fish, ask for one of their two anchors. It will help. But one of the things we loved most about Kildimo was a pub called ODeas Bar De Bucket. Its actually outside of Kildimo by less than half a mile. Step into this place, and youre stepping into a real Irish pub. The colors, the smells, the sounds...its purely authentic. But what sets the place apart is the food. The chips (fries for us yanksare out of this world, and I had the best ham sandwich and mushroom soup Ive ever had in my life. In our 14 days in Ireland, its the only place we ate more than once. And for our sometimes hard-to-please little guys, their chicken goujons (stripsare out of this world. We were very sad to leave Coolbeg Lodge. Thankfully we took lots of pictures and videos to tide us over until the opportunity to visit again comes to pass. I would utterly recommend Kildimo as a base to see a great many things in Ireland, and I could not recommend any place higher than Coolbeg Lodge.Oh, and did I mention it only cost us 80 Euros per night?
