Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala, Ciudad Vieja
Remains of a large religious complex from the early 1700s featuring a church with an ornate facade.
Great place to visit!
Beautiful venue for a wedding...
Interesting place. Debatable, if the guide we had, with his very basic English and standard knowledge about history was necessary.
Great way to spend an hour in Antigua. I recommend sitting in a shady spot in the garden and recharging your 🔋
Very scenic and peaceful historical site
BEWARE! The grounds are pretty and very interesting. We enjoyed looking around. The cost for two of us to enter was Q40, However, we were offered a tour and accepted. When we asked the cost there was no response from the man offering the tour. He looked official with a cap and embroidered shirt and he was with the man taking the entry fees No response should have alerted us. Long story short, a tour that may have lasted 40 minutes cost us $64 or Q500. I had given him Q200 and he insisted on Q700. We finally agreed on Q400 but again he insisted that I had only given him Q100. So we wound up spending Q500. Just be aware. I would not recommend accepting the tour unless a cost is firmly established.
Its Beautiful, grounds are well kept. Little small but the story is interesting.
Tranquil gardens and spectacular ruins.
It was historical.
Beautiful ruins with a rich history. Unfortunately we were taken advantage of by the your guide and overcharged. If you are to do the tour, be sure to pay up front!
Even lovelier than I expected, especially after my underwhelming visit to the capuchinas convent. I wish they’d had more benches to sit on and just take it all in, and would’ve been nice if fewer areas were under construction/filled with construction tools. But even so, one of the highlights of my visit to Antigua. Definitely recommend
We spent 30 minutes here but easily could have spent an hour. Lovely historical architecture and well maintained grounds.Even though there is ongoing renovations to a portion of the complex it doesn’t detract from your experience. Would have like to have more knowledge presented throughout on the history to make it even more enjoyable.
Beautiful and breathtaking for weddings.
This place is Majestic! It has an unbelievable intricately stone carved facade, green gardens and open ceiling sanctuary inside of beautiful Spanish colonial ruins, making this a photographers haven. Bring your significant other, dress to impress, and take at least an hour to make it memorable!
Wasnt prepared for what was inside beyond the entrance. Beautiful gardens, fountains and ruins. Extremely peaceful spot to stroll around. Would have loved to take a nap on the grass.
Awesome place! Q40 for foreigners
In the Top 10 places to visit in Antigua, it has gardens, fountains, criptas and interesting rooms. @pj_lemus
Really pretty grounds. $6 entrance fees is too high though. Locals basically pay nothing.
Take the tour!
This is the most important thing to do in Antigua
Simply amazing!
Stunning
COOL very nive
Beautiful place 😍 💕
Loved our visit to this old convent.
Gorgeous photo opportunities here!
Beautiful ruines! The place was amazing
Church ruins, result of earthquakes. Beautiful arches, massive columns and walls, quiet garden with fountains.
I really love Santa Clara as a wedding venue! It’s one of the most diverse ruins to get married in and the photos always turn out lovely! Highly recommend
Beautiful ruins but upset that the tour guide ripped me off. Don’t pay 300q for 30mins like I did
nice position
Expensive to enter the original cathedral is better
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL place I have ever attended a wedding!
I love these ruins. Clean, beautifully green with rose garden and a quiet place to contemplate life away from the hectic streets. I spent a couple of hours photographing the ruins and just soaking up the atmosphere, it was amazing. It provided a feeling of peace and tranquility and definitely worth the visit.
Picturesque ruins of a former convent. If youre going to visit any of the ruined churches or convents in Antigua, this one is good value for money.
The most beautiful ruins in Antigua!
Wonderful...!!!!
They are in the process of restoration. So old. Please visit. There is a small entrance fee but this goes for restoration. Beautiful to see and you will feel good about preserving this treasure.
My husband and I were married here. Its one of the most beautiful ruins in Antigua!
Beautiful
Magic
The Convento de Santa Clara is a large and interesting convent to explore with beautiful gardens, a gorgeous courtyard, and detailed colonial architecture. It was great for photography!Inside the tall walls surrounding this convent, I discovered such beautiful and intricate colonial architecture, a pretty water fountain in the centre of an amazing courtyard, expansive rooms and gorgeous manicured gardens. The courtyard was surrounded by buildings with beautiful arches. There were lots of pathways, hallways and interesting hidden areas to explore and it was a really beautiful place to wander around. The views of the courtyard and volcano landscape were amazing after climbing the stairs to the top of the ruins. This convent was a fascinating place to explore and take photos and the atmosphere was so peaceful and relaxed. The entrance fee was Q40. This convent is definitely worth a visit when in Antigua! Review based on my experience visiting in November 2016.
Nice 👍
Nice colonial style convent
Really worth the time to stop by here and get a feel for the scale of this convent.
I guess this is the most beautiful convent in this city. Very peaceful and "señorial"
The church stands in the city center in front of the hospital church .
Beautiful area to walk around, enjoy architecture, and take photos! 40Q entry fee for non-nationals.
