Buzzy hangout serving Southwestern chow & margaritas in cantina quarters lined with wood booths.
Don’t go here if you can’t eat exactly what they serve on the menu. They refuse to accommodate any sort of changes to their menu items even for allergies (gluten, etc.). Not only that, but they are rude and dismissive of their customers. The guac and salsa were also incredibly sub par. I’d recommend any other Mexican place in Charlottesville for better food and kinder service.
The menu says “please let us know if you have an allergy” but they aren’t willing to actually accommodate. The waiter was incredibly rude about it and then went to the bar and talked about us with her coworker. Literally McDonald’s is more accommodating for a gluten allergy. I have extremely low standards because people are often rude about gluten, but even my friends said that it was ridiculous. We left after drinks. Easily the worst dining experience I’ve had in Charlottesville.
Really good food and a cool little atmosphere!
Eating vegan here is rough. Youre restricted to one or two options and I dont think either of them are winning meals (the bean and cheese burrito without the cheese is, well, you can imagine).Recommendations: add some more vegan meals to the menu, or at least one so that vegans arent forced into a poor eating experience here.
Best texmex in cville! Would highly recommend checking it out. It was a shame it was closed for so long due to covid and Im excited to support it as much as possible now that its open again!
The beef tacos are my absolute favorite! This spot has fast service, friendly staff, and amazing food. I highly recommend the Santa Fe and the beef tacos. I visited once and since have become a regular for Taco Tuesdays. I love their margaritas which is a testament to the skill of their bartenders as well. I would recommend this location to anyone craving an incredible meal with a comfortable atmosphere.
Im torn between 3 and 4 stars on this one. The food is pretty good, the margaritas are pretty good, but man do they love shoving the fact that they dont split checks down your throat. I guess if you like places that dont split checks then this place is a solid 5 stars because they have t-shirts that let you know that they dont split checks. If its not busy its worth it to pop in for food and drinks, I definitely would not wait 45 minutes for a seat.
Awesome place to get food and margaritas! Short menu, but everything on it is great. Definitely check out the Red Hot Blues and the in-house hot sauces to go with them. The Danger one is really hot, so tread lightly!
Best margs in town!! Doing a great job with take out during covid - this will be the first place I go once the restrictions are lifted and we can eat inside this glorious "too crowded, too noisy" southwestwern food haven!
Great food ordered carnitas and spinach and mushroom enchiladas with smoked gouda...but the star of the meal was the "wait a minute" hot sauce semi sweet at first then a small bite for a finish.i loved this stuff..😋..prices are very reasonable 2 entrees w/ sodas was $30....atmosphere was good but seating was super tight as this is a small place. All in all a good expeeiwnce and plan to return.....
One of our favorite places for dinner! Cozy and the food is always hot and delicious!!
With the only sign outside the building saying “Get in Here”, you know it’s got to be good. A Cville Classic, the food here never disappoints, and of course they have possibly the best margaritas in town. Eat early, eat late, or be prepared wait, because it’s always crowded at dinner time (for good reason).
Great place for some southwestern cuisine. I had the chili nachos and enchiladas. I would highly recommend. Service was great and the atmosphere was cozy. Im sure Ill be back!
Had the beef tacos. The meat was so wet my flour tortillas ended up doughy by the time my plate got to the table. And with it being brisket, I will have to say I was a little disappointed that it tasted more like a bad pot roast. Pricey for the lack of flavor. Fiancée had the Carnitas and felt the same about his. Lacking much flavor.
Shh... dont tell anybody about this place. They have the best tequila selection and an awesome food menu. Yes, there are drinks other than tequila, but... why?
Really loved the atmosphere - get here outside of peak meal time to avoid a wait! I had the Red Blues and Spinach and Mushroom Enchiladas and everything was fantastic. Giant portions and excellent prices, plus a sweet selection of drinks!
This place was busting with business when we went to eat, so of course there was a wait. Once seated, our waitress took amazing care of us in a timely manner. Drinks came quickly, food just as fast, and the quality was fantastic!! Definitely a gem and a half
This place is an awesome spot. Great for casual dates or drinks with friends. The monday night bartender Jenny is about the coolest person you will ever meet!
Love this place! Food and margaritas are great. Really wonderful staff! Get the Red Hot Blues and the Thai Chicken Burrito.
They get busy real quick. Not much on the menu. I ordered nachos with chili and it was pretty good. Sour cream would have made it better. The tacos are flour tortillas not crunchy. Pricing was reasonable. Overall, I would visit again but not for a special occasion.
Thai chicken burrito is a Triple D type must have dish. Red Hot blues are great. Killer Margaritas.
The food just gets better every time we go. Packed at the 5:00 open and was bustling when we left. Special burrito was with Chorizo and spinach, Amaazing. Margaritas are always good. The servers are always smiling and attentive, even though they work in some pretty tight quarters. Thanks very much and we will be back many more times.
Little noisy but it makes for a fun atmosphere. Food could maybe use a little more salt, but still great overall. Margaritas had just enough salt, perfect.
Awesome food. The pumpkin muffins are really good. I usually get the enchiladas. Also their margaritas are great. Small venue. Good to get there early because it fills up.
Cantina vibes with extremely dangerous hot sauce. True authentic Tex-mex dishes with a great selection of tequila and beers. The service is very good I highly recommended this place.
Bustling place with very good food and service. Rather loud, so not a good spot for quiet conversation or people with hearing impairments. Also, TGERE IS NO SIGN WITH THE NAME OF TGE PLACE. The name is only written in small letters on a single brick on the exterior wall to the left of the door.
Great place for margaritas!! Food was amazing! Servers were super friendly. The environment was a little chaotic but in a good way. I will be returning.
This place has delicious food (their peanut sauce on the Thai chicken burrito is perfect), legit margaritas, and a GREAT selection of tequila. The bartenders are smart and good, and everybody else is super friendly. Very chill place that stuffy people have a hard time with.
Well for starters, at 7:00 PM (when we went), the bartenders and servers were ripping shots by the bar... classy. Fairly lousy service. Food was not very authentic, or Mexican. Fairly pricey for what you get.Dont have the heart to give them a 2, so politely a 3 out of 5.
Restaurants style is very nice, shows flair and attention to their roots. The fish tacos are delicious each time. I find CD to be a good value and solid experience.
Too loud and dark, and im not even that old. Food was not as advertised on the menu. Also, any kitchen that uses a microwave shouldnt be charging $15 a plate. Service while polite, was unattentive. My food was luke warm and the carnita meat was very dry and hard to chew. Spinach enchiladas said goat cheese, but tasted like canned cream of spinach, maybe from that microwave, i donno. The alcohol scene looked good but i wont be returning for dinner.
I had such a wonderful experience tonight at Divide. The staff were all so friendly and their reputation for not being child friendly is so far from the truth. They laughed while my son repeatedly threw his toys on the ground and provided him with black beans that were so delicious he became a ravenous maniac that screamed out whenever a bean wasnt in his mouth.Additionally, the hostess graciously pulled my shirt up after my son yanked it down. 😂Will definitely be back again.
It had been years since I had been here but I strolled in the other night for a quick dinner. The food was wonderful. I had the beef tacos and my girlfriend had the tuna entree. Both were extremely flavorful. Our waitress was kind, polite, and attentive. (I forgot her name but thank you for your awesome serviceI will certainly keep this on my list to come back to more often. I cant wait to come when I have more time and a bigger appetite.
Wait staff unattentive and on cell phones most of the time. Waitress stared at my girlfriend to the point of discomfort. Food was bland and burnt. Guac was out of a container, beans out of a can, and most certainly uncle bens white rice...didnt even use salt much less any other seasoning. By far the most gentrified white people Mexican restaurant ever. Apparently if you charge $15 for tacos and dont put a sign out front all the gullible rich white folk will flock.
Staff is nice. Food is hit or miss: some dishes are good, others are not. All in all, when you know what you like, it is great.Fun atmosphere. It is also inexpensive
AHHHH. ITS SO GOOD!!! THE SERVICE WAS EVEN BETTER! AHH!! GO HERE!!(Food is Mexican themed, menu isnt the largest, and there can be long waits depending on time of day. Fair warning, the margaritas are a bit strong here, just an FYI for those watching their alcohol content. But please, really, go here. Its an experience that I honestly feel privileged to have had. Its just that darn good.)
Great, great Mexican place in Cville. They dont take reservations and waiting isnt the best because theres very little room to stand if its crowded. Lots of great margaritas. Santa Fe enchilada and carnitas are both fantastic. Also the red hot blues nachos will not disappoint.
5 star margaritas. 4 star food. 3 star service. 1 star atmosphere. Best Mexican food in Charlottesville, but be prepared to wait. A little too cramped and noisy. Not good for groups.
Great bar and hangout. Great tequila selection and draft beer. Awesome staff. Good appetizers, Ive never had diner here. Definitely small and loud, but thats part of the charm. Highly recommend going.
One of Cvilles top ten restaurants, in our opinion. Not for fancy nights, but for the nights when you want a damn good meal. Tiny spot with booths and a bar that has killer "tex mex" and margaritas. Look for the neon green sign that reads, "GET IN HERE" which is across from the train station. Red Hot blues, Tuna Tostada, Sante Fe Enchilda, its all delicious. You cant go wrong.
Tacos are just beef and unmelted cheese, salad is only lettuce. Rice and beans have little flavor, although the brisket is tasty. On the plus side, G&T was mostly gin.
This restaurant tries very hard to be an upscale eatery. But, its super loud like any other college bar. And the food, while good, isnt great, with too small of servings for the price.
If you are looking for a great margarita, this is the place to go! The dining room is small. Be prepared to wait for a table if you show up after 7:00pm. Enjoy a margarita from the bar and you wont mind the wait.
Every item I ordered off of the menu was phenomenal! I had the chips and salsa for starters, the soup-of-the-day after that, and the chicken fajitas for my entrée. The wait was minimal! Even though it was really loud on the Saturday night we went, the service was great, the food was perfect, and the price was right!
Had an amazing Quesadilla, garlic, mushroom, corn and bacon. Four of my favorites. It tasted Sooooo good. HAD the Nachos as a starter also excellent.
Cozy place with delicious food, large drink list with an awesome tequila list, and a quirky atmosphere. Not a place if you arent looking to have fun, enjoy friends in an environment with ever changing music choices and many loud conversations happening at once. There are plenty of other restaurants for a quiet meal in Charlottesville. Come here for a good time, amazing margaritas, and delicious food.
Such great Tex-Mex. the food really is amazing. Definitely try the nachos and enchiladas. Oh, dont forget the brownie ice cream! Yummy Margs too Must have complete party to be seated. Doesnt take AmEx.
Excellent food, including the nachos. Margaritas were great. Relaxed simple surroundings. The evening was topped off by the staff. We were looked after by possibly the friendliest person I have ever come across. A great little place.
I have been eating at Continental Divide in Charlottesville for years and years so of course I had to try out the place in Richmond. I got the Thai Chicken Burrito......and per past experiences, it measured up completely. It was delicious. The space is larger and they have done a beautiful job making as comfortable and cozy as the last place. I loved it. Way to go Continental, youve outdone yourself!!
Finally went here after hearing great things. And it was, as promised, great. DELISH enchiladas and margaritas. Tiny restaurant, but we went earlyish on a Thursday and were seated right away. Will definitely be going back.
