Awesome food bring cash only dont take debit cards
Well, when you google chili dogs in an area and the results bring back a spot like Curtis Famous, as in been doing it for over 100 years, you have to make sure to get by this kind of a spot. They did not disappoint. First of all, they still know how to cook french fries properly! This doesnt sound like that big of a deal, but when you move as much as I do and eat as many fries, it is good to be reminded why you love them in the first place. Excellent! On to the dogs... Blown away. It is very simple. Steamed bun, a shot of yellow mustard, chili "Sauce" (ladled on with a confectionary spoonand a dash of raw onion. Less is definitely more because these dogs are awesome. The sauce is the super-star, but the mustard and onion are a great set of back-up singers. All together with a dog and a soft bun and youve got a sweet song. Finally, we had vanilla cokes. "Perfection"! I had 2, but I think my sweet spot will be right around 3. The cheeseburgers are on my list to try before leaving the area. The owner was a great guy and you can tell that his community loves him and his establishment. Well Done!
MoreThis was a fun pit stop on our way west. Great 🌭. The chili is killer. Only let down was no kraut 😪
MoreOne of the best dogs that I have had in a long time. The staff is super friendly and will help you pick the perfect thing to order. To top it off it is very reasonably priced. Just be sure the bring some cash! If not there are a few ATMs/banks, a short walk away.
MoreAwesome. No better that I have found yet
The best Coney Island Weiners! Recommended by numerous locals! Did NOT disappoint! Great French Fries too! Served us a vanilla coke, they make their own vanilla, very tasty! Not what you get in a can!
MoreThe food is always great. Great service & very friendly.
Its ok
Gino is very friendly and greets all customers( new and returninglike he knows them. We had 2 each and they are good...would have liked a bit more barbecue sauce in the meat sauce...hard to mess with a 100 year tradition...crinkle cut fries were very tasty without mustard...vanilla coke is good, too...
MoreGeno is the man! Great Dogs!
Great food and great service.
Friendly service, cool atmosphere. Hotdogs with toppings (chili, onions& french fries are a favorite. They have a specialty drink thats a go to "chocolate ricky". Near other shops & hotels in walking distance. Seems to be located downtown.
MoreThey dont take debit/credit and we didnt know. He told us to eat then come back and pay..very friendly and the sauce was excellent. Highly recommend
MoreBest hotdog I’ve had in a long long time. The workers are super friendly to which doesn’t hurt!! Totally work the visit. Located in a super beautiful part of Cumberland.
MoreBest bang for the buck weiner youll get this side of the Mason Dixon line. Would have been a steal if each dog was $3-4, but its only $1.80. Came in one day for lunch without cash, they gave me 2 on the house. I owe these guys.
MoreIts a landmark in Cumberland. Ive been eating these hot dogs since a small child. The taste has never changed. Its a native of Westetn MD thing. Best dogs hands down.
MoreHotdogs was very good. Owners are nice.
Was in the Area and Stopped at this place for the first time. I can clearly see and taste why they have been in business for over 100 years. The Hot dogs are Amazing and the meat sauce they put on them. OMG So good. The Crinkle cut fries are so crispy and delicious. Some of the best I have ever eaten. Excellent service as well, and the one guy behind the counter not sure of his name but he has all the cool tattoos everywhere. He is one of the nicest and coolest guys I have ever met. Excellent food and service. Would highly recommend this place to anyone and we will definitely be back..
MoreAn all time favorite..... Must eat place in Cumberland MD. 100 years in business and the food and service are great. Hometown feel, great prices and a memory that you will take home. Try then work everything! Fries and a coke!!! Tell Gino ( the ownerhi. You will never forget him once you meet him.
MoreReally good hot dogs and friendly people. I got 3 with everything and a fry. The meat sauce is very good, the buns are great, and the fries were crispy. I got a vanilla coke which they make in house and that went really well with the meal. This is my favorite type of hot dog place. Small, local, old, and known around the area for great dogs.
MoreExcellent place to get hot dogs, hamburgers and other quick items at a very good price.
MoreBeen going here since I was a kid. Always good food! Classic
I always like their hot dogs and the service is fun and entertaining.
Not much to look at on the outside, but the best hotdogs ever. Service is good. Wont eat hotdogs anywhere else.
MoreGreat staff wonderful service and you just cant beat the prices! Love this quaint little restaurant.
MoreVery tasty and inexpensive beef hot dogs / hamburgers served with onion and famous meat sauce. The decor is classic and very special. Friendly staff and fast service. Loved it.
MoreGreat service and great wieners!! Definitely worth a stop in while in Cumberland for a quick bite!
MoreAmazing food, I always get hot dogs with everything on them. The atmosphere is very decorative and proud of what is in the area. The owner is a one of kind, very lively person. I highly recommend going here if youre ever in Cumberland. Bring cash!
MoreSmall portions. Big price. Not outstandingly good. Loud. Crummy. Definitely dont recommend!
MoreHave stopped here many times over the decades in my travels from Pennsylvania to West Virginia and back.I have always received good service in what can best be described as a time warp that harkens back to yesteryear. The owner is a wonderful friendly and very accommodating... recently my wife who does not eat hot dogs because she cannot eat the bread asked the owner if there was a manner in which he could accommodate her, he did this by layering a Styrofoam cup with sauce, onions, mustard hotdogs, sauce, mustard, onions. MY wife was not expecting that and was supremely thrilled and enjoyed the dogs immensely.Cannot beat the fast service when you want to get back on I-68.
MoreSuper friendly... Fast..fresh delicious... everything you expect from a trip for a excellent dog...
MoreFirst time here out of state. I was very impressed by the fast service and the friendly servers that worked there. Food was just as good as the friendly atmosphere!
MoreGreat food and superb customer service. Best hot dogs in town.
It wasnt so Much the food that intrigued us but the manager/owner. Personable, kind spirited, and empathetic.A stranger is just a friend he hasnt met yet !
MoreGreat food. Quant atmosphere. Over 150 years old. Hot dog man spreads buns 7-10 down his arm. Amusing..
MoreNope. Never again. Hot dogs was disgusting, owner was behind us yelling and carrying on with people, had a headache after that. Waiter just wanted to be done as you could see. Putting hotdogs on dirty counters. Burger tasted like a cheap frozen burger that was cooked in a microwave. Not coming back.
MoreFood is cooked on a dirty grill covered in wax paper???You can cook on wax paper? My total was well over 30$ for hotdogs and drinks ?
MoreIve been going here for 35+ years. A true landmark in downtown Cumberland, Md.Great food, quick service, no nonsense selection.Best chili dogs I have ever had.My childen and I often plan our 2 and a half hour trip, one way, just to have lunch there.
MoreThe service is fast and friendly and the food tastes way better than going to fast food for the same price, childhood old school menu favorites and their famous chili dogs. Great for a quick lunch or dinner.
MoreWho doesnt love the artery clogging deliciousness called coney Island. Bring some gum or mints if you eat the onions but the hotdogs are amazing the mustard is yummy I havent gotten the chili or "the works" but everyone says its amazing. This place is cash only. If you dont have cash there are several banks around downtown. You can sit in and eat or Carry out. Enjoy yourself!
MoreI have been eating Coney Island hots ever since the were on Baltimore st,I was 7 years old and now Im 72 still eat here thank you for being a great place to have a great hot dog
MoreBeen going there for about 10 years when in town. NOT NO MORE. People are rud. 4 hotdogs 1 small shake 15.00 dollors even. Told them about and they said thats the way it is. Dose not match the the wall price. We went a head and got it anyway. We watched as they riped one person after a other off. They do dont give change. Running things like that how do they stay open. Food was not what we where use to seeing in there. Wont be back.
MoreCome here every time I come up from NC. Its the best hotdogs. Only ones Ill eat. The people are always nice and fast cooking made to order hotdogs
MoreI have been coming here since I was a little girl. Love the atmosphere. It hasnt changed much same booths and lighting, family owned. its like stepping back in time! The wieners are amazing!!!!
MoreAnother staple of Cumberland. Taste the same as they always have but of course the prices have increased. Great French fries and wash it down with a Cherry Smash.
MoreLegit dive serving very tasty hot dogs. Excellent prices, ambiance, this is the real deal. Worth taking a break from driving on interstate 68 to enjoy this nearly 100 year old restaurant. This place will take you back, to a time before you might have been alive! Come for the dogs, stay for the memories.
MoreAwesome. Ive only been goint there since the 1950s, but myfather used to eat lunch there while in High School. So the awesome hot dogs are not 15 cents anymore, butstill worth the visit. An iconic place. And, they have buttermilk.
MoreThis place is great I went when I was a kid. They are great coney,s its all about the sauce. Im going to make a special trip on way home to get 30 to take back. If you are passing thru i recommend stopping.
MoreThe incredible taste of these hot dogs comes down to the perfect proportion of the weiner to the amazing chili sauce to the mustard and the onion. Incredibly difficult to duplicate. Ive been craving these for over 20 years, and they remain the same today as they were 20 years ago. Nothing fancy, yet timelessly and inexplicably delicious. A delectable Maryland staple. Period. MUST TRY.
MoreYou people that say its just another Hot Dog or you could make it at home just as good Do Understand its about the sauce not the Hot Dog!!I have family that come here and take 100 hotdogs home and freeze them with sauce mustard and onions.
