Biggest zoo weve ever been too. Was out in Columbus for work and couldnt miss the opportunity to go to the Columbus Zoo! We had a BALL. First caricature weve ever gotten, we stayed for HOURS. The food was good. We saw the cute little baby elephant and the cheetah was posing lol. The staff were extremely nice and helpful too! Definitely will come back when were in town!
Extremely nice park. Animals have a ton of space and you can tell they are very well cared for. You can feed the giraffes. Lots of places to eat. Going on a weekday in the fall was perfect. Mild weather and not many people. They have a ton of attractions for kids
Very nice and enjoyable zoo but some of the attractions are showing its age eg the aquarium part. The giraffe interaction was fun and the camel ride too. The kids also liked the short train ride. Overall it was a fun experience and would visit again. Centennial anniversary is coming up too and cant wait to see how it will be celebrated 😀
By far my favorite zoo in Ohio. This is the first time weve gone this late in the year and its beautiful with the leaves changing. Since it was cooler more of the animals were active which we loved!! The new underwater tunnel for the seals is awesome & one of our favorite things there this year. Wasnt crowded at all. The Zoo and bathrooms are very clean & the staff is super friendly, great with kids! Theyve added Adventure Cove since I visited last & it looked like it could be fun, but you can only ride a few rides with a Zoo admission ticket. We LOVE Sting Ray bay. The stingrays get super playful when youre feeding them!!
Spent 5 hours there and missed what seems to be half of it due to not grabbing a readily available map at the entrance 😂 Grabbed one on the way out for future visit(s). Its well maintained, the animals and their enclosures are clean, and there is quite a bit of information about each one and their natural habitats; including where theyre found and if theyre endangered or not. Im also excited to experience the water park, another reason to go back, besides seeing that cats will be cats no matter the size 😸
They had so many different animals. Their habitats were very impressive with detail and were clean. They had staff everywhere and they were talking about the animals. We were even able to see them training the animals with the red and green cards. We were able to pet and also feed stingrays. Fed giraffes. Watched the cheetah run. Walked through the kangaroos (they were all laying down nappingand several bird enclosures for up close experiences. My spouse and I did the entire park in just one day, but I would suggest taking 2 days as its a lot to see and a lot of walking. They also have scooters available to rent. You can also bring in food and drinks. It was everything and even more than I expected after watching the Columbus Zoo on television.
Absolutely love the Columbus zoo!!! The staff are all so friendly, the animals are well cared for, and all the exhibits are so fun. It never gets old going there! Love the new seals and sting ray exhibit! We get a year pass and travel 2 hours to get there at least 4 times a year.
A wonderful experience that cant be done in one day. Its really nice to see all the staff cleaning and caring for the animals and habitat while youre there. They are very friendly and answer all the questions you have. This will be a yearly experience for my family. I recommend the zoo to anyone who wishes to have a great time.
Great zoo for the whole family. Lots of parking. Clean and well staffed. I saw EMS and security team members roaming the zoo. Many attractions have wheelchair access. Clean and kid’s friendly. Lots of customers but didn’t get overwhelming for me because the place was so large, everyone was well scattered.Lots of restrooms, small gift shops, drink and snack stands, and restaurants throughout the zoo. Lots to do. Lots to look at. Lots to buy.Affordable prices for foods, drinks, snacks and admission. Parking is $10 in addition to admission cost. Water park is also additional.Place is huge. Plan to stay a whole day or maybe even two days or else you’ll be rushing to get through the entire place.
We had a wonderful day at the zoo. It wasnt too crowded so so we could see the animals easily. We spent a lot of time with the primates and will need to visit again to see the areas we didnt get to. Beautiful zoo, well kept. We also love the TV show!
What an wonderful zoo! It gets better every time we visit. We checked out the newest exhibit, the sea lions and stingray bay were an absolute blast! I would take a few minutes to watch the sea lions play or feed the stingray with your friends and family and enjoy. :)
Great experience. As people who work with animals were very passionate about conservation and loved how much digestible information there was on current threats and issues to habitats and wildlife, as well as how to participate in conservation efforts! The information about each animal was great, but the best part was being able to talk to staff at each exhibit and learn where the rescues came from and why theyre here. We loved Strawberry the moose and Stubby the manatee!
Very wonderful Zoo broken down into Asia-Africa~North America-Conga-Aquarium and a huge amusement park & food court area! More folks need to support to get better upgrades for the animals! They operate solely on our attendance! Go thru the week when it’s more dense & less lines! Very clean & nice for anyone to support! Feed the Giraffes and Manatees! Ride the Train & such! Embrace these beautiful animals we are so blessed to have on earth with us!
It was a wonderful place with plenty of rest spots for the more weary of my party members. The exhibits were beautiful and respectful for the dignity of the animals as well. The food was well priced and pleasant to eat. Plenty of shading and good overall experience with the animals.
Had a great experience here. Most animals were out and could be sen. Be prepared to walk a good amount. It will take about 5-6+ hours to see everything. Depends on walking speed, how long you look at animals and of course how busy it is. We got in close to open and it wasnt too busy. Staff was helpful, but mostly kept to themselves unless asked.
Loved the Columbus zoo. Really liked the layout and how the regions were grouped. The animals seemed to have larger enclosures than a lot of other zoos. We enjoyed the 4D theater. They did have some gluten free options for food. I payed $5 for a microwave cup of Annies gf Mac and cheese and the stand I stopped at was out of the gluten free dessert. But at least they had an option.
Really an excellent experience. The zoo staff was extremely friendly and helpful, offering advice about upcoming events and interesting animal facts. We got there right when they opened (9:00and started until 4:30, we almost made it through the whole place! Our kids had an amazing time even if they were exhausted by the end. If I had it to do over I would take the shuttle to Africa and work my way back instead of walking that area twice. In any case, we will definitely be back, in fact we plan to finish the rest of the zoo tomorrow morning and spend the afternoon at Zoombezi Bay.
Most enclosures are good sized and seem clean. Like the way the place is set up with things to see along the way as you go from region to region. We loved the Christmas lights this year! Really well done and fun. We bought the year long pass and have been 4 or 5 times. Really saves a lot of money.
We drove here from Kentucky. We visited on a Monday in July. It was warm, but there is plenty of shade for cooling off. We did the Red Panda Experience and it was worth every penny.I recommend bringing a refillable water bottle with you and you can get water at the fountains but you can also get free ice at the snack stations. It was fun for 2 adults... I cant wait to bring my kids in the future!
This zoo was FANTASTIC!!! My 7yr old Loved it! My 3month old did great! Grandpa and Grandma said there were actually enough benches to take. Arent often enough! It is BIG so you will spend the day there. It was a beautifully maintained zoo!! We will be coming again!!
This was our second visit within a year to Columbus Zoo and again we were not disappointed. We were there all day and did not see the whole zoo or everything we planned on seeing. I recommend two days to truly enjoy all of the exhibits you want to see and review the many enriching activities in advance and plan your trip. We watched the cheetah run (be there 10-15 minuted early for a good viewand they improved the dinosaur boat ride. If you have littles or just enjoy this bit of history this is a fun must do, beware you will likely get a little wet! The wrist band for rides and attractions is well worth it as it got the us on everything we wanted for a fraction of the cost it would have been to buy tickets individually. Even though it is more than a three hour drive we bought the annual membership and are already planning out next visit. Lunch whether you buy it or bring it is best ate at Mapori restaurant covered dining with a beautiful view of the African animals while you eat.
Absolutely loved coming here with my family! We arrived at 11am and was wore out by 4pm. So we skipped out on a few sections. However, from what we did experience… it was fantastic. Lots of opportunities for photos, up close encounters and learning experiences with zoo staff. The Zoo is enormous and I highly recommend spending 2 days in the area if coming from out of town to experience it fully. It’s worth it!
We spent about 4 hours at the zoo- it is a HUGE place. You could definitely spend the entire day there easy. We only got through about half of the exhibits.Despite it downpour raining, the staff was still wonderful, engaging and knowledgeable.Plus, the Dinosaur Island ride was very cool!
Fantastic place. So much to do and see. One trip is simply not enough to do it justice. If in or near Columbus put the zoo on your to do list. A bit pricy so Id buy a membership if you have a family and it may pay for it self in just 2 trips.
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is one of the best animal facilities that I have ever been to. The animal habitats are amazing. The theming is amazing. I love all of the signage (I would recommend stopping to read the signs instead of just walking by them, some are funny, most are very informative). There are many opportunities to interact with or even touch certain animals as well as many of the exhibits having glass walls where the animals like to hang out at; makes for excellent photo opportunities. There is even an area with some rides which are all animal themed and a Waterpark just behind the ride area. Definitely get there at park opening because it will take you all day to see everything. They also have a wide variety of food options. I would also recommend planning on attending a keeper talk, which they do throughout the day for a few different species of animals. You will learn a lot by listening to a keeper talk about the animals they care for and you will also be able to ask questions at the end of the talk. They love to answer your questions and you might just learn something new. If I lived nearby I would definitely become a member so I could visit anytime I wanted to. Definitely a must see if you are visiting Ohio.
Awesome Zoo that rivals Disneys Animal Kingdom. A few tips: Meal Passes with a free bottled beverage, the beverage isnt redeemable at the gift shops. Food vendors all close at 4 (2 hours before the Zoo closesand refillable cups are only fillable at said food vendors (so buying a refillable cup at 3:50 good luck getting a refill!)Otherwise, awesome Zoo!!
My daughter loves this place. We have a membership so we get free parking. If you go 3 times you cover the cost of the membership. We also love feeding the giraffes and riding the dinosaur boat. Both these cost extra but are a lot of fun.
Love this zoo! So many different areas to see and do things. I felt the bathrooms and water fountain were very easily accessible throughout. I suggest mapping out what areas or animals are most important to visit on trip it could be very easy to run out of time or steam to visit every area in one day. I highly recommend this zoo.
A very expansive zoo and aquarium park. Rides were an additional cost ($2 per ride or $14.99 for wristband for unlimited rides). When arriving at park, there are two entrances. Parking is $10 and its a shared lot with the waterpark nextdoor. Lots to see and do. We felt like we couldve easily spent two days there in order to see all the different areas. Several playground for the kids, petting zoo, shows, to lions and tigers and bears oh my. Food options were plentiful but we brought food and drinks from outside. There were plenty of places to eat. Would highly recommend visiting.
A terrific zoo. The grizzly bears are just astonishing. I kept thinking they were animatronic! The kangaroo experience was really neat too. I’ve been to some of the best zoos (San Diego, National Zoo in DC, Tampa, etcand this one might be my favorite.
All a Zoo needs to be and then some! Fun for the entire family! A word to the wise; pack thoughtfully because there’s a lot of ground to cover. So many people leave completely worn out carrying backpacks full of “maybe “ supplies and whatnot. Think sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable shoes and clothes and eat before you go! Have fun! We certainly did!
We decided to come here on my wifes birthday. The place was very nice with a lot to see and do. The prices were a little high for what you get on the meal side of it. But like a movie theater they have to find a way to cover their expenses so its understandable. Overall outside of the 90 degree day we had a very good time. 👍
I hadnt been to the Columbus Zoo for a long time! So much bigger. The zoo and aquarium were absolutely amazing! Natural habitats were well maintained. Animals seemed clean, well fed and mostly active. We all enjoyed the wonderful displays. Price was about $25 for the zoo and aquarium. They also had rides! I think you could pay per ride or maybe buy a ride pass bracelet (??). Also, they had a splash park! No info to give, just that I saw it as an extra part of the zoo area (need to buy a extra ticket for the water park). This attraction has a HUGE parking lot ($10 for parking...I highly recommend buying tickets online. Also, you should print your tickets before you go! You pay for parking at the same time). From the parking lot, there is a "tram" to get on to ride to the main zoo entrance. We had a great day!
I have been coming to this zoo ever since I was about one years old. They have over 3,000 species of animals and tons of food and shops.Employees are nice and the animals look like they are treated nice and they *somewhat* look happy.Highly recommend coming if you are going though Columbus. Just be prepared to pay a little bit of money for food and gifts. You know, I have been thinking about getting a job here for the summer...10/10
Very nice facility. Really no complaints. Its just a shame we dont have anything closer to where we live. Grand kids enjoy it. Would be nice if they would offer a discounted rate for handicap to use their motorized scooters. No matter how long you want to use it, its still $37.00! One day we had an hour until close and they still wanted to charge the full rate! Thats insane. They should definitely prorate if they want to keep customers.
Great trip, can carry back packs and if you have little ones, bring a wagon because they do get tired of all the walking. Over all great trip wanted to throw some things out there that at first we wasnt sure of. Definitely worth it!
Man this zoo was something else! I loved it and at first i wasnt so sure but god its amazing the animals look so well cared for and there was always something new to look at everywhere you went. My favorite thing was the Stingray pool the ladies out there were so sweet with telling us how to touch the animals and even gave us some stingray teeth! Everyone should visit this zoo!
Bring your good walking shoes, a lot to see and a lot to do. They have a jungle gym for kids, a small 5 minute train ride($2), a carousel ($2), a mini adventure park with a small roller coaster along with other rides, and a splash pad by the aquarium! You can feed the giraffes ($5 a leaf or 4/$15worth it and the line moves fast! Close at 5pm on Sunday so we got 4 hours in before close and didnt see everything but a good time until the end!
It was nice. Some stuff not open yet and animals are always unpredictable. Definitely a must see if you visit Columbus. Lots of stuff for kids. I highly recommend feeding the giraffes. It was cool. The baby elephant was cute too.
Worth it! Like most Zoos, Columbus features several hours of exhibits and animals from across the world. This zoo is an excellent attraction for families of all ages. Off season is the best time go, while it’s still a bit cold outside, to reduce the number of tourists. Likewise, arriving early will ensure that the animals are active and near feeding time. My favorite exhibit was the manatee tank! I highly recommend this zoo for many reasons.
Great family place and yeah we all know about inflation, but even before 2021 the prices for a simple drink is $4! $2.50 - $3 I could do/understand. They should go with quantity over $$$ bottled water!(Plus food is $$$ so expect Disney World prices)Sell a LOT more that way, guarantee.Other than that nit-pick is its great, but if you got young ones, try to avoid super hot days. Youll most likely only get to see 1-2 exhibits. A+
The zoo is so nice! The polar bear exhibit is my absolute favorite. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The food court area has a lot of different and delicious options. I love that the gift shop sells prints from one of my favorite local artists, Dino Nemec. All around great experience!
We went for a school field trip for my first grader. It was a gloomy day but the animals were still out and about. Saw lots of staff cleaning up inside and outside exhibits. The way this zoo is set up makes it super easy to get around. All of the staff I encountered were super friendly and very helpful. Train ride was only $2.00 a person! Really enjoyed our day here.
While the zoo is still not fully open for the season, there was plenty to do and my kids had a terrific time. We were there for over three hours and did not come close to seeing everything. No birds are currently on display for the safety of the animals because of the high numbers of cases of avian flu in the wild. Again, there was still plenty to see. My 3 year old loved the play structure for kids. I, on the other hand, will be having nightmares for years to come from the caterpillar slide. The baby elephant was adorable. We had a blast and will definitely be back to enjoy Zoombezi Bay this summer.
Not sure I can give this too accurate of a review with seemingly everything being closed due to weather (even in late March). The manatees, seal, and gorilla exhibits were neat. Employees were very helpful and all over. Im sure its great in better weather but Id avoid spending money on it during colder months.
This Zoo was amazing! It was in the 30s today, however the animals that were out were so active! It was nice to see them enjoying the weather (bears, foxes, wolves, reindeer, moose). The indoor viewing platforms were clean and with less traffic we were able to take our time in the reptile houses and really view the animals! We had a wonderful time and plan to come back in the summer!!
First time at the Zoo in the winter and it was Great! Hardly anyone was there so it was like we got the animals all to ourselves. Africa area is closed for winter so we couldn’t see gorillas, lions, or giraffes but plenty of other happy and active animals were around and able to be seen. Tickets are half price for the winter too so take advantage of that deal!
We went for the holiday lights and it was worth the 2 and a half hour drive for us. We also arrive close to opening time before it got flooded with people at sun set so that was a smart move.It felt like the entire zoo was ours. The downside was that half of the animals were gone but that’s completely understandable as no decent person would want animals to freeze for our entertainment. Regardless, we had a beautiful walk through the entire place twice. Once for animals and second time around for the lights. The huge LED Christmas tree is the star of the night as it is just a technology marvel to view.SO MUCH EYE CANDY!Follow me on maps for great photos and detailed reviews 😊
This was a great experience for me and the family. We were able to walk around the zoo close to closing time get some pretty good stuff from the merchandise store and enjoy some time together walking around. The only downfall was the attitude of the gentleman working the gate to pay when going to the carousel. That guy has a major attitude problem and probably shouldnt work in a place where he has to be around people if thats how hes going to treat people. It was unfortunate that we didnt get to see many animals but it was neat to see the new exhibit at the front of the zoo. This was the first time that weve gone to the zoo since covid started and the girls that were at the sea lion exhibit or extremely nice and friendly and intelligent when it comes to animals that they were looking after.
Love this place! Its been 10 years since our last visit and we made a spur of the moment decision to stop by on our way home from visiting with family for Thanksgiving. Zoo lights did not disappoint! So much time and precise effort went into all of the displays! The light displays are vivid and dance to the holiday music playing throughout the park. To our surprise several of the animals were able to be seen. So much fun and Frankie, the 4 mos old baby elephant was so cute! Our littlest one truly had a blast. We hope to be back in the summer!
