Columbia Golf Club - Golf club in Stillwater, United States
Nice and very challenging course
Course was a great shape. This course is fun.
Favorite course of the Minneapolis city courses. Sometimes it gets backed up on saturday mid-day but that’s expected. A healthy amount of hills makes this course tough but reasonable to walk 18, although the worst hill is after 16. Also, this course had the same number of reviews as Theo Wirth so I wanted to break the tie.
Great place for affordable golf.
The course is now fully open on all 18 holes. The greens are in pretty good conditions. When I think of golf, I think of Columbia heights most of the times because I got my first hole in one on hole 17 in this back in 97.
Overall this is a really nice course. I’m a big inner golfer still so it was challenging, didn’t shoot that great. I will definitely be back to play again. Not a lot of water hazards which I like. Not a ton of outta bouta course is girly wide open, a few of the holes feel kind of on top of other ones but for the most part it’s spacious. Ranger was stern but for the most part he was cool. They had plenty of coolers with water that was nice.
Wait times were very long on each tee box on Friday afternoon. No rangers even though it was very busy. Employee dress code should be enforced. Claimed to be running low on carts even though twosomes were seen each with their own cart. The condition of the course was good and overall the layout was fun.
great people staff and course in very good shape!
Tons of holes on the course, my friend sprained his ankle on one so watch out! They also double booked tee times on us and we had ti wait an hour to play, they wouldnt offer any refunds so we could play elsewhere
One of my favorite Minneapolis public courses. Great shape, greens are perfect right now. Just played the new layout from being shut down from construction. Never seen the place look better. Really nice conditions.
Very difficult course.Rolling hills. FUN TIMES.
They seriously need to do something about the pace of play, it took us nearly 3 hours to play 9. Conditions were decent, a bit chewed up and dry.
Solid city course2021 edit. Same score. 3 stars. Solid 9 hole course for the year. 3 par 4s, 3 par 3s and 3 par 5s. Good mix of holes. This course badly needed construction. Hope it was worth it when 2022 rolls around. Im a PCC member so I pay 12.00 for 9 holes with a cart so the price for this year is fine with me but for the general public paying full rack rate I can see how it would be expensive and turn people off this year.
Went to play 9 holes and we were visited by a worker 3-4 times during it. We were told to hurry up and hit the ball even with 2 groups still on the same hole. He would continue to visit and rush us, when there was a group of 6-7 and ahead of us which was holding it up, not our group of 2.
Great course, they are doing construction so all holes arent open. Cant wait to see when it is done.
The course was in good condition and fun. The management was rude and not helpful. We were visited twice during our 9-hole round with threats to hurry up or he would make us skip a hole, even though we often were waiting for the golfer in front of us clear. Seamed to just target our group rather than evaluate the actual speed and situation.
Under construction, prices are the same despite the mess.To play 18 you play the same 9 twice.A little confusing as to where to go for the next hole, your jumping all over the coarse.
Review 2021: SKIP this course for the year prices are unchanged, but for 9 holes, its a rip-off.Directions and signage for jumping 1000+ yards are non existent, course under massive construction.Maybe worth trying again in 2022, but after playing 30 rounds here last year, I wont play again this year.Review 2019: Great course for the price, solid staff, good food, fairly affordable everything
Not in good condition right now. It took 3+ hours to play 9 holes and normal pace is supposed to be 2 hours and 15 minutes for 9. It was 23 bucks after tax to walk 9 holes which was lame too. Not much vang for your buck
Course is in great shape. But the lack of a hands-free apparatus on the pins is bad. Especially since its a Minneapolis public course and they have very stringent rules about covid-19.
In fair shape, but a lot of repair spots circled in paint on the course. Greens start true (some slippery hole placements though). But mid to back 9 greens were slow and not consistent.
Played here Aug 19, 2020. Greens were in excellent shape. Rough is thick and adds to the challenge. Absolutely great course for the price.
I golf quite frequently sometimes 4-5 days a week... my brother and father took me to this course For the first time.. great course fairly well kept up and for the course I’d say 4/5 stars. Love the history and the old city course vibe... however the reason for 1 star is this: We had a tee time and showed up 25-30 mins early There were no golf carts available. My senior citizen father asked the pro shop if we could wait for a cart he received the response: “I’m not gonna sell you a cart if I can’t guarantee you’ll get one”. Fair enough... my father is old and loves golf but has a hard time walking 18 holes.... So we walked over to the cart return and asked the guy there if we could wait for the next available cart . His response was “Before you get on a golf cart I need to see a receipt that says you paid for one”. I said “well the guy wouldn’t sell us one but we’re willing to wait and pay for the next Available cart” he responded with “first go pay for one and then I can help you” 5 minutes prior the guy in the pro shop refused to sell us a cart... we contemplated leaving right then and there but we bucked up and with some encouragement my father begrudgingly said ok let’s walk it... so i thought no problem we’ll just walk.... My senior citizen father was not happy about walking 18 holes and frankly unsure if he would be able to golf the whole round but we tried it. When we got on the course we immediately were stuck behind a group of 5 people who were taking 15-20 mins on every hole, in front of them was a single person golfing alone, and in front of him was a group of 8 people with 4 Golf carts. Many times off of the tee We had people running into our fairway fetching balls as we were teeing off without regard. (Even people running into our fairway after we teed off walking to our balls people Multiple times would run up to our balls we just hit and pick them up thinking it was their balls tee time was at 1:30 and we were forced to end our round early around 6pm on the 14th hole. It took 4.5 hrs to get through 14 holes because play was so sloW and backed up From mismanagement of group sizes and lack of golf carts. some groups were driving around in 4-5 golf carts with 5-8 people per group while other people like us (3 peopleWith my elderly father get the shaft and were forced to walk. This course is great for the beginner/ fun time with a group of friends Kind of golf. Not recommended for serious golfers. In the future this course will not be my first choice. If you require a golf cart or are golfing with people who do, I do not recommend this course. they may not have any available carts. If golf Etiquette is important to you I would not recommend this course, many beginner players running every which way. I wanted to love this course for the historic vibe but honestly the course was so crowded i felt like I was waiting in line all day. Great course for beginners who just want to give golf a try or a great place to bring friends who are beginners but I would not recommend this course for more experienced players... also give yourself plenty of time If you plan on playing this course it took us 5 hrs and we only got through hole 14 before walking off the course.
Good facility with nicely cut turf to hit from. Some of the balls are pretty old, but a majority are pretty fresh range balls. Nice chipping/practice green as well.
Carts were rationed. The course has alot of hills, My wife wast happy but, with a cart it is tolerable. It was well into the 90s but the water/beer lady didnt show up until the 7th hole. I like the course. My wife thinks it is too long.Kay sahra, sahra, something like that ...
Pretty nice city course and I would definitely golf it again. They did run out of cart, however, and this is a tough course to walk...very hilly.
A good, affordable public golf course, well maintained. The greens were in good shape. This is an easy course with wide fairways and few water or sand hazards. However, this course has a lot of hills, making walking 18 holes a serious workout. I walked 9 holes and my golf partners smartwatch showed we walked 4.5 miles and climbed more than 100 steps. If you have any health issues or joint pain in knees or hips I recommend renting a cart. Its only $12 per person and essential if youre out of shape and want to play 18 holes.
Used the manor for a wedding reception. The architecture is gorgeous with high ceilings and exposed beams. Mark, the manager, was there all day and super nice and accommodating for things we needed (ladder, water pitchers, etc). It was not my wedding so I dont know about price but the venue is gorgeous.
Great county course, reasonable price. Pretty hilly with some decent trees, but still open space to be forgiving on the slice or two.
Nice course - price time weekends a little pricey. Definitely played hard but a good city course. Definitely a hard walking course. Clubhouse is OK. Nice staff.
Fun course with a good amount of elevation changes, great staff and in pretty good shape! I would recommend getting the cart on this one!
Wonderful city course! Greens in great condition. Course has a nice layout, challenging enough for low handicaps, and forgiving for those newer to the game. Usually prefer to ride, but course can be easily walked if that is your preference. Staff was really friendly. Definitely will return.
Kind of overpriced for the condition of the course. But fun. Not sure why the 19th hole has become such a challenge. Is it really that hard to sell a $5 beer and a hot dog??
Great running trails... Very hilly but scenic! I feel very safe running around the course.
The course is in great shape! The greens were rolling smooth and true. As usual, the gang, led by the great Marc Rymer, do an awesome job top to bottom. Im playing here again day after tomorrow. The course is fabulous!
Great course, excellent conditions for a city course...love the fast greens! Marshalls could remind slow players to pick up the pace a little more, but that happens everywhere.
My wife and I got married and had our reception here and it was beautiful! Not to mention the staff was awesome and we got free drinks from the bar all night! Also the food was very good as well and the presentation was perfect!
First time here, visiting from Milwaukee area to attend wedding. Course was in great condition and staff very professional. If we were residents, we would play this course numerous times each year.
Nice greens. Lots of trees and woods makes you forget you are in middle of the city. Fairways were not great but you can just play a preferred lie. Price isnt bad. Helps when I shot a 74 also. Scorable course. Not too hard
What a fun course! TONS of elevation, some great views of the Minneapolis skyline. Greens were fantastic - fairways could really use some work. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here - will be back. Thank you for becoming a PCC course!
Ive golfed here a few times and for the most part I have enjoyed the course. But I am unlikely to return because of my last experience with the starter. My group arrived a few minutes late for our tee time, and the proshop staff sent us out without a problem. We arrived at the first tee and checked in with the starter, and apologized for being a few minutes late. He informed us that since we were late we could not tee off (even though we had already paid and there was not a group on the hole, or waiting to tee off). This was confusing as we were a group of two and shouldve been able to tee off with no problem. (I work at a golf course, so I understand the procedure to a fair degree). We questioned him on this and he became irritated and said we would have to wait for the next available tee time which was an hour and a half later. We returned to the proshop and asked for a refund and they happily gave us one. It seemed like they did not want our money, and could care less whether we played there or not. Resulting from this, we are unlikely to return.
Was disappointed the first time I played here, but very glad I gave it another chance. Conditions are very much improved. Highly recommend anyone that hasnt played recently give it another shot. Also has a great clubhouse and friendly staff.
Columbia is one of the better Munis Ive had the pleasure of playing. Fairways and greens were in amazing condition, just enough elevation changes, doglegs, and sandtraps to make you think of your shot placement. Clubhouse staff was very friendly at checkin, grounds crew was very respectful while on the course. Only reason I gave it the 4 stars was because of the uneven ground and length of grass on most teeboxes.
Im disappointed in the new price for seniors riding. $49 to golf on a weekday seems a little over the top. I think I paid $35, maybe $36 last year. You wont let me use my Minnesota Golf Card either.A positive is the golf course was in good condition.
One of the nicest city courses I’ve played. Friendly staff.
Nice city course. Club house needs updating and a refresh inside. Course itself was a bit soggy in places but overall in good shape. Nice hills and trees. A really nice course for its in the mpls city limits location.
Good Muni course. It was in tough shape earlier this year, as the back half of each 9 struggles to drain at times, making the fairways very very wet and sloppy. As it has gotten nicer, everything has firmed up pretty well. Can be a bit expensive for the course if you dont take advantage of any billions of the deals available, but the location makes it worth it.
We called and said we have 6 of us and mostly new golfers. They said come on in the course is pretty much empty. By hole 2 we had the ranger yelling to pick up the pace... We switched to best ball to pick up our pace By hole 4 he told us to split up in 3s after we rented 3 carts.. Other golfers were very respectful and we let anyone pass us that wanted to. Hole 8 we got told to skip this hole we are to slow. The ranger pretty much followed us the rest of the course telling us to get going. I understand about keeping the pace but.... that is why we called and explained!!!! I went to the office and explained again and was told we should be done by now!!! Again we stopped and let a lot of people go by us which took a lot of time!!!! We spent almost $500 between golf, carts balls and tees just to get harassed and pushed around and forced to skip holes!!!!! WHAT A JOKE!!!!!
Columbia Manor is a wonderful wedding venue! As a wedding photographer, there are so many great locations for portraits on the grounds. The clubhouse is beautiful and very functional for a wedding ceremony and reception.
Really nice little muni - did 18-holes with a cart on a busy Saturday for a shade over $50, so pretty nicely priced, especially considering the condition of the course. It plays pretty up-and-down, lot of elevation changes to contend with. Not a terribly large number of hazards and the holes tend to be pretty open, so if youre an erratic golfer like me youll be able to chase down your wild shots pretty easily. Overall, great course, Ill be back again.
