Colorful shop serving up specialty cupcakes in many flavors, soft-serve cones & soda floats.
It looked good but I didnt like the taste of the cupcakes. I got a chocolate and one with cookie dough taste or something like that and both are tasting like marzipan. I like to support small businesses so I am really sorry for this feedback
I stopped in this evening to split a sugar cookie with my husband. What a disappointment! I was given a refrigerated cookie and when I inquired about receiving one that was warmed, it was thrown in a microwave for less than 10 seconds. Matters only worsened at that point. When my cookie was returned to me, it was partially warm, melted with butter seeping everywhere, and the other portion of the cookie was frigidly cold—what a nightmare! When I asked for a refund, the assistant blamed me, stating I asked for the cookie in this manner, then attempted to argue with me. When I requested another cookie, she became belligerent and angry, then raised her voice when I asked for her name. I ultimately decided to walk out and make a $4 donation to another sad, poorly trained, forward-facing service-person. I specifically decided to leave when I saw her deliberately fondling/drop my new cookie on the floor, from behind the refrigerator, instead of simply handing it to me. (She made a customer wait while she attempted to hide the fact that she was issuing her own version of “justice”, by sabotaging my cookie before handing it to me)—naturally, I walked out. Such a shame that a simple transaction turned into a poor review and ultimately a poor reflection on the business. I would start by recommending better training but obviously there are several issues amiss here.
I went to colossal cupcakes today and got two macarons. The macarons were great and your employee Michael was helpful and amazing. He’s so nice anytime I come in there.
Today while exploring Cleveland with my parents, we see this cupcake store and decide to try it out. I had a pumpkin spice cupcake and needless to say… BEST CUPCAKE EVER! It’s even better with a chia tea ;)
Extremely freaking rude!!! I called and they literally picked the phone up and hung it up. I called again because I though it was a mistake but nope. Just rude workers! They somehow are always out of ice cream of dam cupcakes. Something is always missing. And if its not missing then guess what they still manage to have something not working. I think this locations workers do not want to work and just want to be paid. Extremely horrible. Sad.
Was so excited to check out this place. Customer service was horrible. I chose a cupcake and she gave me the wrong one then was told she cant give me the correct one because I already touched it.it wasnt my fault she picked the wrong one.then said I had to purchase another one if I didnt want to keep the wrong one. Thats ludicrous
Expensive, and the cupcakes have no flavor at all. It’s the weirdest thing. Everything is for show. You’ll want to think because you spent $6 on a cupcake and because how they look, and location they’d taste great.. sadly they do not. Save your money.
Butter cream icing was better than the cream cheese icing for sure. Plenty of options and open late. Need a little help on the ambiance - a little messy with boxes everywhere.
The people who worked here tonight were amazing. We came in with two indecisive kiddos and they were extremely accommodating. The ice cream was also delicious. Thank you!
Cupcake were good a bit overpriced. The 2 stars is for the small selection and service. They have a huge selection but they only had a few to choose from. I was expecting to see a much bigger selection. The young woman was rude and not very friendly. She seem to not want to be there and didnt want to answer questions asked about the cupcakes. If you want a pretty good cupcake, give them a shot.
I got the vanilla salted caramel, which has a buttercream frosting. It was scrumptious. You can find it in the photo below.
I stopped in after a dr appointment with my son he got the pink cone with vanilla ice cream, I ordered the confetti cupcake in a milkshake. It was pretty good I don’t think my son liked the vanilla ice cream he drank about half my milkshake, I tasted his vanilla ice cream and it was very watery.
We love it here, so cute and the cupcakes are delicious 😋 My daughter and I always make a stop here when were doing a girls day!
The staff was nice the cupcakes are pretty! But the flavor is missing .can’t say I would go back☹️
The cupcakes here are truly COLOSSAL. The service was quick, and they have seating for if you want to eat your cupcakes there. For $5 for each cupcake, they were appropriately large. However, I found that the cream was a bit too thick and that altogether the cupcakes werent fantastic. Id say its still a good place to try for yourself, though!
Excellent cupcakes! Went in expecting store bought, super sweet tasting cupcakes. And they were anything but. Super moist cake and savory icing. Dont let these "bad" reviews fool you.
Cake was a little dry but the frosting was heavenly. Fair prices and great location. I think if we went towards the beginning of the day, the cake would have been better.
My first time going. I had heard so much about the place. I ordered the Chocolate Raspberry and I didn’t like it. There was no hint of sweetness in the icing. It tasted more liked whipped butter than icing, and the cupcake was dry. I was very disappointed.
Delicious cupcakes and friendly staff. The yellow cake with fudge is just perfect - sometimes the basics are the best! Cant wait to return.
Colossal mistake to stop by and buy anything from them. We bought 2 cupcakes after a Guardian game. When we ate them at home, both the cupcake and frosting were stale- we wondered how long they were in the display case . We spent over $10 to take one bite and throw them away. Save your money- the place may look inviting but the cupcakes will make you want to leave. Leaving 1 star because zero stars are not an option
Disgusting cupcakes. Bought a fruity pebbles, and a raspberry lemon last night the cupcakes tasted like they’ve been in the case for a while. Not fresh disgusting to even think they’re serving cupcakes like that shame on them.
Just left... The seating (tho prettywas sloppy. The chairs and tables were all over the place and looks cluttered. I walked in and was greeted with the stalest "hi", Ive had all year. I purchased 2 cupcakes FOR ELEVEN DOLLARS and so far, the one (chocolate cupcakeIve bitten into is quite dry and the pultry amount of icing is underwhelming and slightly flavorless.
Super cute decor - very insta-worthy! Had the cosmic brownie cupcake and it was honestly one of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had (and I’m a baker)! Definitely a chocolate lover’s dream! Can’t wait to try more flavors!
So it never occurred to me, that they named themselves Colossal Cupcakes, because their cupcakes are massive! And surprisingly, the flavor wasn’t lost in all the delicious density and girth.
I’ll Five Star any small business that’s out there trying.Honest review: We order two cupcakes and two macarons. The cupcakes are huge. Presentation is on point. I think I got the Popping Bottles & Cream Cheese Chocolate. I have no idea what flavor popping bottles is but it was a good cupcake. The chocolate cupcake was great!!The macarons were also huge. They were okay. The shells were very delicate and completely hollow. The filling was very moist, which may have also led to the cookie shattering upon first bite. The cookies n cream one was overly cream filling flavored. The raspberry lemon one was good. They were busy when we went in and our server was pleasant and very helpful. I would go back when in the area to try different flavors! Definitely give it a try.
I absolutely LOVE colossal cupcakes! Very yummy! However, I feel like over the years they’ve shrunk in size, and prices have risen. Definitely on the pricy side. Big fan regardless. 🤍
I absolutely love the decor but the cakes are too dry! The staff is nice though...and for the size of the Cupcake and macaroons, I thought the price was on point...youll just need plenty of drink to go with your order!
Visiting my friend from Pittsburgh. Im not usually a cupcake person but had to try these. They were too beautiful to pass up. They are a little pricey, but worth it in my opinion. First we tried the Sunday Morning. Cinnamon cake, maple cream cheese icing, with bacon on top. Literally the best cupcake Ive ever had. Moist, fluffy cake. Light, not-too-sweet icing. Flavors perfectly melded. Might have to buy a box to bring home to Pittsburgh. Ill definitly be back next time Im in Cleveland.
terrible customer service. workers were dry and had attitudes, i attempted to make convo and have them laugh and they started at us rudely. macaroons tasted artificial and gross overall. whip cream on cupcake has no flavor or overly sweet. great scenery, overall meh experience. will not be back.
This review is late in being posted.I’ve been to Colossal Cupcakes numerous times and have never had a negative experience but the review below is specific:On December 8th, our varsity girls basketball team visited Colossal Cupcakes after scoring a great W at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. We celebrated by bringing our large party in midday. Always a dicey decision with a large party. However, the two staff members working did a fantastic job taking care of our group. Everyone got a delicious treat (mostly cupcakes, but a couple cookies and a brownieand hand fun hanging out for a bit.Thank you from the Riverside Beavers!Absolutely love Colossal Cupcakes and cannot wait to get back, though with a smaller group. 😉
The girl here is really beautiful. I would marry her in a heartbeat, out of the league of the most handsome guy in the world.
Cookies were not that great but the strawberry cupcake was a home run!
Not understanding all the bad reviews. Yes the price is a bit high. $5.25 for a cupcake. I bought my cupcakes Saturday evening and just now Tuesday had the chance to sit down and enjoy. 4 days old and super moist and dee-licious! Never in my life have I had a cupcake that stayed moist that long. Now Im kinda mad I didnt splurge for more being I am from Kentucky. The decor was so pretty as well. Perfect for a quick pic. Anyone who thinks something is wrong other than the price, is CRAZY or just mad they themselves cant bake a great cupcake. 100% recommend!
Never been here the kids seen the sign on our walk to the Square for ice SKATING. All 4 of us got 1. Best cupcake I have ever ate. Fresh and delicious. The place was so cute we sat down and enjoyed.
The place is really pretty, good service, but the cupcake we tried wasnt amazing. In overall a good experience... And in their defense we only tried one cupcake... The "blue velvet". Need to give it a second chance. Great ambiance.
Ill have to agree with the other recent reviews that the cupcakes just arent that great and especially for the cost of $5 per cupcake. Even the water bottles were $3! Do price aside, the cupcakes were dry and nothing amazing. But the staff was nice and the decor of the place is really fun. So... maybe go here, split a cupcake and take some pictures.
Awesome decor. Delicious cupcakes and the macarons are the biggest Ive ever seen! Not a cheap date but a nice little place
Ordered 2 cupcakes off Doordash. The red velvet and the raspberry lemon. Packaging 10/10, overall look and asthetic of the cupcakes 10/10. Taste 2/10 so so so very dry. Made it really difficult to eat because of how dry it was and the frosting was just meh. Definitely not worth the price.
The decor is fun, and the location is fab, but dont go spending $5 a cupcake if you expect a good treat! This is not worth the calories. If youre going for location, ambiance, service, or gram pics, then fine. However, if youre counting cals or coins, you should go elsewhere. Frankly, Heinens grocer had better treats IMO.
I was excited to visit the shop from out of town. Won’t be coming back again. Very disappointed in these cupcakes. Cute shop, but the cupcakes were very dry and the icing was oily and not edible. I spent $30 and even my kids wouldn’t eat the cupcakes. I also bought one macaroon. It was way over baked and crumbled completely when I tried to take a bite of it. I bought five kinds of cupcakes and one macaroon. One bite was taken from each item and the rest was thrown in the trash. I really wanted to like these cupcakes but it was a waste of money. I cannot recommend them.
The staff was friendly. Gave good recommendations!Cake it selfWas very dry and I have to agree with others the icing was giving very much land o lakes. Cool concept glad to support small businesses, but they do need to get back into the kitchen and fixing recipes
Ive been to Colossal a couple times and each time is absolutely amazing. I love the cute whimsical decor and the immeasurable options of cupcakes lol Today I treated myself to a Strawberry Crunch cake (strawberry is my favorite fruit🍓😋 I will definitely be back lol
Must try🍽 Blue Velvet cupcake & Crushed cookie bag 🍪 Loved the decor and service 🥰
One of the best experiences! I was lucky enough to talk with the owner and her husband. Such a sweet couple. Love shopping at locally owned restaurants and bakeries! The sweets where delicious and picture worthy. All my friends where drooling over the cupcakes and cookies we got! Thanks again for a wonderful experience!!
The cupcakes are dry. The frosting is good but its really all about the cake. I would say Im disappointed. While the cupcakes are big, 1 for $5 or 6 for $26 is way too much for the quality of the cake.
This was my first experience at Colossal and I was BLOWN AWAY! Decided on a whim to get a sweet treat for my birthday and left with a 6 pack box of cupcakes and three macaroons. The atmosphere is, okay, it’s adorable. Reminds me of a life sized dollhouse and the gold themed vending machine is very eye catching. Lots of great photo ops that I wish we would’ve taken advantage of. The gentleman at the counter was incredibly nice. I’d actually say this is the best customer service I’ve ever received in the city! You get exactly what the name of the establishment suggestions; COLOSSAL sized desserts that come with equally large flavor. The prices are very reasonable for the size of the treats! We will definitely be back!
The place was really cute and made for Instagram selfies. The cupcakes were good, not amazing. The staff was okay helpful. It was like pulling teeth to get questions answered. I didnt think they were dry or old tasting. They just didnt taste spectacular. I doubt I would spend as much money as I did, but I might buy one if I really wanted cake.
Not sure why this place has such a low average review, I thought that were spectacular. They have dozens and dozens of different flavors of cupcakes, which are all absolutely delicious and enormously colossal. You can also get one mixed with ice cream for a milkshake, which is every bit as amazing as it sounds.
I rarely ever give out 2 star ratings. Seriously! I wanted to like these cupcakes but they were absolutely disgusting. They dont even taste like cake. I had a strawberry toast cupcake (recommended by one of the workersand its not good at all. The cake wasnt moist, it crumbled immediately, and tasted like it was 4 days old. Huge disappointment because decor inside was cute and the cupcakes looked good on display. Avoid if you can!
Nice decor and atmosphere. Pricey. The cupcake shake option is horrible. One cupcake can be shared by 2. Get the variety pack if you have several kids
