Collado Restaurant in New Haven

I had 2 bad experiences here, the first time I thought maybe it was a language barrier with the miscommunication of what I actually wanted. So I returned but I honestly think they only cater to their kind. Still was rude and just unprofessional. They tried convincing me that you get the same amount of meat in the small and medium container. Make it make sense… why am I paying more for a medium size then???????? Food wasn’t even that good anyways

The male staff is always courteous but some of the females have the nastiest attitudes. Today was so bad I just walked out to avoid confrontation. I enjoy the food but as I said some of female employees need to be fired.

Great, authentic Spanish food such as patelle, rice n beans or plain, potato balls, pork, chicken and other various meats, and even desserts! However pretty expensive. Not a great parking situation on the street or in front, so park in the small lot next to the dumpsters. You want authentic grandmas cooking? Try collato for a change, I was not disappointed!

Used Door Dash there was no fork.... I called explained I was at work and couldnt eat .... they made sure I got a fork ... thank you

My pork was dried out along with pink beans. Maduros were burnt. I had to throw the meal out. My desert was tasteless. It was the worst tres leche cake I have ever tried. Wont be eating here anymore.

The prices have gone up and the food quality has dropped!!! Will not eat here again.

It was good. The pork was warm, not hot. The steak beef was warm also. Didnt complain. I was famished. Next time I will bring it up.

This is supposed to be mangu...its grey.. and a weird texture.Im sorry but stay away from this place Im afraid Im going to feel sick only after a few bites. I do not suggest ordering from here. First and last time. And they forgot one of my items.

I ordered through grub hub around noon. Food wasn’t edible! I ordered sweet plantains & they were so hard & old. Chicken smelled spoiled as well as the rice. Stay far away!

One of the best hidden gems here in New Haven. My mother and I use to stop here every weekend after going to the Flea Market. Now the tradition will be shared with my children.

mi gente.. que esta pasando! They gave me the wrong food. Then the food I had was inedible. The empanadas were hard to eat, stale and old. And the mofongo lacked flavor & texture. Instead it was overpowering with garlic, not good at all.

This past Saturday ordered white rice , beans and beef stew , got boiled steak on white rice , no flavor , not good , the food is usually good but they make too many mistakes on orders

These ppl are soooo unprofessional i ordered some rice w beef stew a tres leches cake and sweet plantains. The milk of the cake was all over the entire order my food was wet and entire package aswell and the sweet plantains DISGUSTING they were all beoken up mushy and black i wouldnt serve that not even to a dog… I wish i could post a pic so everyone could see how disgusting they really look… UNBELIEVABLE

Ive never been unsatisfied with their services.Staff is always polite,foods always amazing 😋 and the price are reasonable.I see a lot of Karens on here complaining about the smallest things.Im sure if you have a problem with anything in the restaurant and bring it to their attention, theyllwork with you but if youre someone who lacks communication skills thats on you not them.

Good seevice, food too as well as variety and looks as well. Im not too big of a fan of the hours but we all got to eat and this can be a good place for you.

Great selection of foods with friendly staff. I purchased a few of their combo meals as catering for a baby shower. All of the guests enjoyed the food and asked about the restaurant. The chicken can go fast on the weekend so definitely best to get there early.

Second time I have been there. I ordered rice beans and a morcilla. And to acapurials. The same pretty expensive but Ill let it go. The rice beans and morcillas were excellent. Since I was in the area I decided to give it a second chance. Girl whos serving me had a attitude like I was bothering her. I ordered rice and beans carne guisada and morcilla. Two sodas. My whole bill came out to be $17. That is pretty expensive one person to eat. At one point my bill was $14 when I questioned wow thats pretty expensive The girl told me oh wait a minute its $17 because I gave you extra portions of gundagai sada. I never ordered extra portions that was on you. Im sorry but I would never go back there for it to be in the hood it is way overpriced. You should expect better service and a fair price.

If you love Caribbean food as much as I do..Go down to Collado Restaurant and experience Dominican Deliciousness 😋 my Rice and Beans was very flavorful, and my Steak was tender. When Im craving for some Dominican Flava! I will be at Collado. Bueno💯

I come all the way down from Middletown Connecticut to eat here. Its always really good. Im boricua but dont speak Spanish due to upbringing. but its nice to know they have people behind the counter that speak English.

Always love preserving from here. I’ve never actually ate it at the restaurant. I’ve only had it through delivery, but it’s some of the best Spanish food I get. I live the pernill with their white rice. Rice is always fluffy, pernill is flavored realllllll nice. Most of the time they give really good juicy cuts of meat. Not a big fan of the skin, too soft(but it may be because of delivery time). Will recommend, and will go back happily!

Food is okay. Pricing is strange. Three times ordered exactly same meal and Uber eats pickup regular price is cheaper then buying it in person for cash. Mixed feeling like I was profiled/overcharged on my cash visit.Some extra cleaning might be needed on the kitchen as well (not crazy but could be cleaner). So mediocre rating.

Everytime I come home to New Haven for a visit, I absolutely HAVE to stop in for some food. People who work here have ALWAYS been nice & friendly. I wish they were in Columbus, Ohio. Thank you for the AWESOME service and great food!!! Take care & stay safe!

It is by far the best food in the New Haven area. Prices are fair and the portions are so big you will have more than enough for two people. You cant go wrong with this place.

OMGGGGGGG! THE ABSOLUTE BEST FOOD! It was SUPER GOOD! Chicken was well seasoned and just fell right off the bone. Rice and beans hot and fresh. This was my first time eating here and I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK❤❤

The restaurant is clean and has great service. The food was well seasoned and the stew chicken and rotisserie chicken was very juicy. They give you nice sized portions. Tasty meal just like you get in the Bronx!

I have been coming here for a decade before they changed their name lol. The quality has always been 5 stars, my mom my ex and my kids love it. Its been a family favorite forever I genuinely love this place

Been eating here for over ten years.Huge portions. Very tasty. Friendly and polite. Reasonable pricing. We chose to eat in and she delivered our food and drink to our table and set us up. The sides are awesome too. I love the rice and beans, beef stew and plantains . Go and try it you wont be let down.

I love Collados food its always fresh, portion size is more than fair and the prices are so fair market. They are quick with service and very pleasant all of the time I visit. I love love love their Garlic sauce.

Great Spanish food, great ownership.I decided to give this place a try and was not disappointed.Uber Eats messed up my order. The team at Collado immediately fixed the issue and sent my correct order over right away. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone was very helpful. They take customer service seriously.My food fried shrimp was fantastic and very flavorful, along with the variety of sauces they sent.Great food, great customer service. Highly recommend for anyone in the New Haven area that enjoys Spanish food!

The staff is friendly and is always helpful. I try to get there at least 2-3 times a month. Their beef stew and chicken stew are always good (the beef stew is amazing). The roasted chicken is awesome too. I love going to this place, I know Im going to get enough food for 2 meals. You cant beat their prices, all and all its a great experience.

Its really nasty now I dont know whats going on but to me its Mexican food not Puerto Rican I asked for a ham and cheese sandwich and this is what I got super nasty Im really disappointed maybe they should get a new chef Puerto Rican one.
