A great place to visit and learn. We had a great time.
Such a cool place. A lot of history in one place. The floor guide was very knowledgeable. Super clean, educational and fun.
Fantastic, private museum. Well organized, and welcoming patroons. If in love with transportation, and interested in learning more about the local transportation history of Maine, then you need to make a stope here. Enjoy, we sure did.
We went twice in a 3 week period. Very nice place to see the history of Maine.
It was great. Thanks to George Bridgham for the informative tour. You have to see this. You would never imagine how big it is inside and how much stuff there is to see,
So worth an hour drive to find this place! The people we so nice, this place was clean, and the exhibits were spectacular. My husband and I must have walked around for 2 hours. Great educational videos and pictures. Must do we kids.
Cool place! A really good mix of stuff to see. You can look around all day and still find something new! Lots packed in!
If you have any interest in antique vehicles or automotive history this is a must see. The collection is all very well maintained and there is plenty of information to go along with each exhibit.
Fantastic! Hundreds of exhibits and they are spectacular. Not all transportation. Military exhibits also. Fun for all ages. Very friendly volunteers, nice and clean building and outdoor exhibits as well.
Fun as a kid. I appreciated the local history coming back as an adult.I also love that your flags are all American, and not defaced with a blue line. It does an honor to the actual veterans memorials on site.
We had a little time to kill near the Bangor airport with two little kids (3 & 6when my wife found this. We had so much fun! The exhibits were really cool, it was a fun trip through history. For me as a former history teacher, it was fun to help my kids understand the progression of transportation. They also provide a scavenger hunt based on age to help keep the kids engaged. We all really enjoyed it and now I want to bring my dad.
Far more in this museum than the outside size would suggest. A fascinating look at Maines snow removal, firefighting, train systems,, and more! Knowledgeable staff, clean restrooms, plenty of hand sanitizer... Truly worth the trip
A fun destination on a rainy day: warehouse full of old firetrucks, snow plows, railroad cars, trucks, cars, motorcycles, sleds, skis and everything in between.
If you like the history of transportation, you will love this place. Outside you can see a tank and a helicopter. Inside, a train, trucks, cars, and more are waiting for you. Free admission for kids under 19, adults $7.00, AAA Members $6.00, and 62+ $5.00 in 2022. Open seven days a week 9am to 5pm from May 1st to November 11th. You cant help but learn something every time you visit.
Great place! Much larger than expected. Awesome volunteer staff!A1
What an amazing time the family had looking and learning the history. Not only did you learn you enjoyed looking back in time.
This is a great place to check out. The history in this museum was unbelievable and I was very impressed with all the different memorabilia they had for different areas in ME. The story behind the gentleman that started this museum was impressive and he did a great job in preserving it.
very interesting! i loved learning about the history and all the stories i read and heard staff tell me and inform me about were interesting and actually so nice to hear about!
What an amazing museum!! Ive seen this place as I passed by on the interstate. My grandkids are spending the summer with me and we decided to go. First of all, kids under 17 get in free. Adults are $7 and Senior citizens get in for $5.This huge facility is laid out in rows with like types of transportation in each row. They have every type of transport from a Huey helicopter down to a baby stroller. Most items are from various eras. You will see snow plows, a wide variety of fire trucks, trains, including a replicated train station ticket counter, buses, cars, funeral cars, wagons. Sleighs, sleds, toboggan. Tractor trailers. A wide array of military vehicles. A tank, helicopter, jeep, military uniforms and memorabilia divided into sections by war or conflict.Very kid friendly!! They even have a scavenger hunt for kids. Where kids find items pictured on a list. They even have them categorized as easy, medium and hard so its fun for all ages. Kids even get a prize for completing. The staff is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Plenty of parking, clean restrooms, easy to get to. We will be back!!
Extremely knowledgeable staff who personalized the experience. Must see if in the area and have some time to spend.
Really pleasant experience! The folks who run the museum are super nice people and have a vast amount of knowledge to share! I came here on a whim and dont regret it a bit! Really enjoyed the scavenger hunt!
If you are in Bangor I would recommend stopping in. The cool thing before we even started looking, they give free walking sticks to combat era vets, so both my spouse and I received one. Also, they have clipboards listed easy, medium and hard with pictures on them to have a scavenger hunt for items around the whole museum. Our 11 year took a medium one and she found everything, she loved doing it. We also took one and it added to the overall experience. The 2 sections I really enjoyed were the fire department aisles and the military section of a few vehicles and artifacts dating from the Civil War to Desert Storm. Worth the stop!
Absolutely fantastic museum. Loved the memorials and the exhibits were awesome!
Little organized place to learn about history!
Very informative and covers a lot of the history. It has a great military history section.
Amazing collection of all kinds of land based transportation machines from huge road snow blowers to sleds and sleighs to toboggans. Youll see the evolution of delivery trucks from horse drawn to modern 18 wheelers. They have a fine collection of fire trucks from horse drawn to the more modern. They have rail cars and a diesel locomotive. There is an extensive military memorabilia display. There are restored cars dating from the 1920s up. This is a must see museum for all ages.
This place was really awesome. There were so many cars, firetrucks, and many more cool transportation vehicles. The only thing that I was not happy about is the way we had to eat our lunches. When I went on my fieldtrip here, there were not any tables to eat on. This made it hard to eat. I might return here with my family.
I volunteer as a military veteran at the Coles Land Transportation Museum and I am very happy with the way they give back to the community. Promises made, promises kept!
I was much more impressed than I thought Id be. The price is very reasonable for all you get to see. The museum claims to have the worlds largest indoor collection of snowplows. They have bicycles, tractors, trains, semis, busses, campers, scooters, motorcycles, just about every imaginable form of transportation. I spent about 2 hours here but I would imagine most would spend a bit less. Plan on one hour bare minimum.
Havnt been in a long time, but all I remember was the fascination and wonder I felt when the presence of those cars hit me with rich history. Pretty much a book of days past hit me over the head
This place is awesome. I have never seen so much, so well organized and so well kept up in any museum. I would recommend this place for ages 3 to 90 if they like cars, trucks or anything on wheels. The family that owns this place is Pro Children and Pro Veterans which are two groups very close to my heart. This is a have to see if you are in Bangor.
Had a really fun time with my daughter here looking at all the incredible antique Vehicles they have. They have a little bit for everyone at this place. Is a lot to learn in the world war II section. Havent been in the military I was pleased to see all the incredible artifacts that they had there from world war II.
Great fun for me and my 3 kids. And a great value b/c kids are free! Tons of cool vehicles/equipment to see. And they have fun picture scavenger hunts to do. And so many different options we each picked a different one. Fun way to spend an afternoon when visiting the area
Loved the history. Had a lot of fun.
Really worthwhile to stop in here if it moves as some sort of transportation it is here. Was pleasently surprises at how interesting it is. Easy to walk through places to sit and videos to watch. Seems you can arrange for tours for groups. Enjoyed our visit.
Wonderful displays of historical Maine articles. The young and old in our group remained highly interested throughout this family museum. I took home a well written and informative booklet that explained further some of the displays.
This place is great! Lots of antique cars, truck, and even a train!
A great museum in a small town of Bangor. A must visit place to learn about transportation history of not just Maine but the USA.
Very clean and well maintained facility. Stopped here for the memorial and spent some time walking outside. Have a tank and chopper on display.Lots of old transportation relics inside and can spend an hour or so. They charge $7 for adults but kids are free.
We’ve driven by this place dozens of times and we finally stopped by for a visit. It was awesome! The kids loved all the big vehicles, especially the large train. There was a scavenger hunt which kept the kids busy and plenty to see. Definitely worth the price of admission.
What a wonderful place to visit! My younger boys enjoyed the scavenger hunt and the train. My teenage daughter appreciated all of the tidbits and histories of the vehicles. Everything is well organized, and labeled very well!
We had an amazing experience at the museum. Initially we intended to spend only 30 minutes but once we reached there, we realized there is so much to see and read in the museum. Pat was very helpful and Dan was simply amazing with the amount of historical info he had on the different exhibits. Here is what my kid says - "I love a billion things about a museum I love the videos I love the trains I love the scavenger hunt I love the going into trains I loved all of that".
This is a great museum! They have a wonderful collection of all kinds of old vehicles - trucks, cars, trains, snowplows, even sleds and bicycles! The museum is the perfect size - it’s manageable and not overwhelming, and you can leave feeling like you got to see everything there. The signs and placards are well written and give interesting facts and tidbits. I loved that everything in the museum had a tie to Maine! There’s an interesting WWII section too, which I really enjoyed. You can go into some of the old trains and trucks, and my daughter had lots of fun in the caboose. A great stop for kids and grownups alike!!
Awesome place, so many things to look at. Highly recommend!
Great place to see all old automotives. It was unbelievable all these existed in olden times.
Rainy day in Bangor? Great activity undercover, lots of parking, immense exhibition. Absolute must for transport and history enthusiasts.
I wasn’t sure what to expect and was totally amazed. The museum has some incredible displays of trains, vintage cars, trucks, fire engines, buggies, toys and more. The displays from WWII were informative and interesting. The staff is friendly and informative. Well worth a stop.
As a veteran, seeing the memorials outside was welcoming. I didnt go inside to tour yet. Waiting to take my grandchildren.
Great museum with very informative signage and helpful staff. Check the wall near the entrance for information on how the museum was built and historical photos of some of the equipment on display. Small gift shop but the items are not unreasonably priced. Some free informative booklets and postcards are offered. Well worth a visit.
This place is amazing. Anyone that likes vehicles must see this museum. Incredible collection of snowplowing equipment. Motorcycles, Cars. Train engine and train cars. Military vehicles and of course Coles trucking vehicles. Including a million miles truck. And the people that run the place are just as amazing. I spent almost 4 hours walking thru the museum. And could have spent the whole day. I had a bit of a tour guide. Veteran Austin Carter. He introduced me to Galen Coles. Both amazing people. Not sure what the regular price is, but the senior price is $5.00 it would still be a great deal no matter what the price of admission was
