Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum - Heritage museum in Dartmouth, Canada
A heritage gem in the heart of Cole Harbour!
We discovered the museum in September, and made plans to attend the little music festival that unfortunately was cancelled by the storm, but we were able to visit the tea room a week later. The soup and desserts were very nice and the staff who make all the food in the little kitchen are polite and personable. Although they close in October they will still be open for take out. Cant wait to go back for more!
Cool spot. Missed the Tea Room so Ill be back.
I loved this place as a kid and now my son gets to visit when I do. So awesome to see the animals. Wish we were here in the summer to see the piggies.
Amazing place. What they have managed to maintain through the years is unreal. The staff are always very helpful and friendly. Ive heard the food and drink are great, according to friends, but havent had a chance to try myself, though the tea shop is lovely.
Short day, night to wander and learn the history. I will offer, the site is great, but needs improvement on wheelchair accessibility. Unfortunately my family witnessed an accident. Not 100 percent the farms fault, as it comes to personal responsibility to understand limits of wheel chair and ask for help. A bit more improvement should be considered also for people in wheelchairs to give more Independent feeling.
A super place to spend a quite afternoon
This is an absolute gem of a family experience hidden in the middle of sprawling suburbia! The displays and historic buildings are lovely and the sheep and chickens were great fun. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and happy to talk about the site. Well be back again!
I find it relaxing.
Delicious lunchVery friendly staffNice to see what they used as machinery and how hard of a life they had in years gone by compared to today
Strolled through on a walk and and really enjoyed the animal watching , happy piggies π·
Perfect place for children to access animal and nature, a lot of Nova Scotia history materials.
Awesome Team! Great place for the whole family!
There is no charge to visit. Donations accepted. Lots of amazing history, lovely gift shop, tea room and you can place orders on line for delicious, home made cooked goods from their website. Nicecfamily outing. Farm animals roam around too.
Great spot in the city. Showing the old farm ways. Mostly run by volunteers. Very pretty and nice short walking trail
It was a great spot to bring the grandkids..they loved the chickens and pigs..
What a little treasure in the middle of Cole Harbor. My granddaughter has so much fun!
Staff was so lovely and the food was soooo amazing! Homemade food cant be beat. Animals were great as well, and well cared for!
I volunteered here years ago and I love comming back with my family and Ill be there this week I know the kids cant wait to see the pigs
What an amazing gem this place is! We will be back again and again!
In my opinion the menu for the cream tea is too expensive. Are the scones made with real butter? One scone with jam and cream served with tea should be no more than $5.00, not $8.00s. The high price is keeping me away.
What a sweet place to visit! Perfect for families with wee ones or for anyone wanting a leisurely afternoon.
Entry by donation, an easy outing for a family group of all sizes and ages. Poultry, sheep and a few calves were around, lots of placards with local history on display. The garden is pretty and grows food.
They was amazing. We had a group visit . The walk to lake is nice . Flowers everywhere . Learn something new today . Read the info in pic .
Unfortunately couldnt see inside the barns due to Covid. But certainly had a wonderful time looking at the well kept garden with beautiful flowers and plants.
This wonderful farm is great for kids during the summer, to see the animals and interact with them as well.It also has a lovely small cafe, which serves delicious food.Theres also a place for kids to play games.
Came here during a very warm day. We explored the buildings and saw the animals. It was a quick visit but a nice one to be able to see the farm. Thanks for having us!!
Amazing place to bring the kids fun and educational. We need to preserve places like this thank you to all the volunteers who work there! :)

This place is a little Cole Harbour treasure. Beautiful gardens, barn animals, local heritage home and museum along with the most gentile tea room serving Nova Scotia Select status gastronomy. Also has a Wednesday afternoon pop up market.
Great tour for my grade 1 class! The children loved learning about the past and all of the animals. The guides were excellent. The Tea house is lovely with a homey feeling.
Small, charming and locally run, mostly by volunteers. Real animals and a forge that operates occasionally (by volunteer blacksmithscreate a good atmosphere thats enjoyable to spend time in. There is a teahouse that i believe sells drinks and snacks but Ive not actually tried it myself as weve always been here for other events like small fiber arts festivals.
Fun place to take the grandkids on a weekday morning.Lots of interpretive displays. Not too crowded when we went. Animals are fun to see for kids of all ages from one to a hundred or so. The potty toss game was a huge hit.
Service & food was excellent! Visiting from BC. Enjoyed a nice Maritime meal of fishcakes & baked beans. π
Cool little spot hidden in the middle of a city. An inexpensive place to taje ghe family for a few hours without having to go too far. Great to walk through as a couple or with small kids. Older kids (10 and upwill likely be unimpressed. We took a 3 and a 5 year old and they loved seeing the animals and walking through the gardens. As adults we really liked going through the historic buildings. Since this place is a low key hidden spot, you can really take your time. There is a little restaurant and some local jams, etc for sale too. Bathroom on site near the restaurant.
Beautiful little country farm, you can forget you are in the city while you are there. Wonderful staff!
Such a great community space! My wifeβs favourite local restaurant, our children love the animals and outdoor play space, we love the history and activities. And the staff are really friendly. Weβll join as members to support this great nonprofit heritage farm.
I bring my Great Pyrenees here to visit with the sheep. They seem to have become really good friends.
I love this spot! The animals are beyond cute, the garden is gorgeous, and its very educational.
I visited during the fibre fest and had the best time. I cant wait to try their little cafe.
My family and I love going to the farm. Itβs a little gem. The food in the tea room is always fresh and delicious. The Atmosphere is quaint, itβs perfect. The garden is beautiful and some of the best pictures Iβve taken are at the farm. Staff is always friendly as well!!
Great place to learn how they farmed/lived back then. People are so friendly. Hope you are able to visit πππ½
Great place to bring the kids. The Rose and Kettle Tearoom is great little spot to stop and have a snack.
Friendly volunteers, beautiful setting, wonderful place to spend an afternoon with family. They also run special seasonal events, such as professional local story readings, etc. Highly recommended.
What an amazing hidden gem. You literally feel like you are transported back in time when you step foot onto the property. Complete with a working farm and the original barns - yet get an idea of how farm life operated. All the original buildings are intact and each building has small exhibits. There is also a great little restaurant & tea house with a small gift shop.
Beautiful little slice of history in the heart of Cole Harbour. We had a fantastic lunch at the historic little tearoom. Will definitely be back.
Such a cute hidden gem in the heart of Cole Harbour. The kids loved seeing the animals and old toys. We will return again.
Great spot to stroll through in the summer to see the farm, some animals and have some good food at the Tea room.
Great little farm in the city. We had a beautiful day. Our son played with the kids toys, tried the farm tools and loved seeing the few animals. (Piglets!)
A little farm in the middle of Cole harbour. It was fun for the kids to see the animals. There were chickens, a pig and piglets, cows, and sheep. They also had some displays of old farm equipment and tools
