Modern Australian dining & a wide selection of wines in a light-filled venue with river views.
Coco's Restaurant in Perth
Description
Privilege
I had high expectations of this place but sadly they werent met. Booked in advance and only managed seating near the kitchen with mediocre music blasting behind us. Service and food was very average.
MoreExtremely disappointed! It would have been 0 stars if it was not for the short hair lady wait staff who tried her best to assist. It was an impromptu decision to visit for a meal but ended up with food poisoning.South Australian Oysters and Margaret River 1.2kg Tomahawk were listed as their recommendation.Honestly, oysters tasted pretty good and fresh. We were served our oysters 10 mins after the ordering. Tomahawk only came 30 mins after the oysters, leaving us with nothing on the table other than 2 large warm plates that turned cold soon after + waiting. The Tomahawk was a complete let down. Completely overcooked.....and the chef even had the audacity to present it on our table and left straight after. Upon us raising it to the wait staff, she offered to change. We were truly grateful for her initiative to change a new portion, the new piece came with more disappointment. Meat was not seasoned, harsh and tasteless. Worst piece of steak Ive ever had. Even the glass of wine my partner ordered tasted sour and stale. They were insincere and inattentive. Questions/feedback were asked with no actions/follow-up/recovery taken. Dishonest business and overpriced. Will avoid at all cost. Even if its free, we will never return. To top the it all, my partner is not down with food poisoning. Persistent vomiting and diarrhoea. For a disappointing meal and service, and now we suffer, 100% not worth it.I dont enjoy writing negative reviews at all as I believe that everyone deserve a chance. For Cocos, I just felt that weve been discriminated.
MoreTerrible customer service and overpriced. If you are just paying for the views, just go to the restaurant next to it which is way more better 😉
MoreWe arrived at 12.30 (Party of 10)- We ordered drinks and food shortly after. I had to confirm my order- for 4 people- twice within 5 minutes. Our drinks arrived after 1 hour only to serve me red wine instead of white ( mindblowing when I already was asked twice to confirm drinks and food 1 hour before). Then I got asked again to confirm my whole order ?!To add to this great service, while we waited for our drinks after ordering we got served two main courses that did not belong to us.Once our main course arrived after good 1,5 hours we were served a cheeseboard and a desert when I alerted the waiter that while we’re very happy to get our food finally after 1,5 hours the cheeseboard and desert did not belong to us! They had no clue what to do!The food was very average for the price, the service non existent and I was charged a holding fee on my credit card when making the booking (against the booking policyto only be charged the full amount and on request was getting the credit for the holding fee with no real apology for any inconvenience! In a nutshell, views are great, service is non existent and the food is very average.None of us would return!
MoreOn the Positive side, beautiful view and a nice restaurantOn the negative side without exaggeration,-totally overpriced- food was nothing special not even good-Forgot my order, left without desert as that was the order they forgot and waited easily 30mins-really hard to get staff attention
MoreFeedback from the restaurant "Cocos" - if you are ready to spend a lot of money for nothing special, this is the right place💯 Food was mediocre, services - some staff dont understand English, other staff forget your order🤦 Very expensive and very inadequate😑
More1. We came to this restaurant at lunch and ask for sitting outside. The manager look man said all outside tables are fully booked. Meanwhile, there were around 15 tables available outside. Until we finish our meal, there were still 14 tables available outside.2. The manager looking man took our order without writing it down or record it somewhere. It’s totally fine with that. However, apparently he has terrible memories and missed one of our main dish. We waited too long and had to re-order it.3. Conclusion: good quality food with terrible customer service at 6/10 lunch time.
MoreI booked a table for a friends Birthday, the food was not the best considering the price you had to pay for it, I dont mind paying that amount for a dish that is presentated well and tastes good.I did make it known on the booking that it was for a friends Birthday, yet we were pushed to the side and other people were prioritized over us the whole night.I dont recommend Cocos to anyone.
MoreCame for our anniversary here, the food was disgusting. Especially the risotto, it was way too salty and normally I am a lover of salt but I couldn’t handle it not sure how to explain it but it was so salty that I had a blister thing in my mouth after. Chips were nice abs Turkish bread was nice. Was not a fine wine dine experience, waitress weren’t very professional but that I wouldn’t complain about or write a review about I was just shocked how salty the risotto was.
MoreOnly offered 1 drink and no top up for water, steak burger was dry , charcoaled and peppery, oily fish and dry chips, the view was not as requested of the river but of a table of old folk !
MoreService was absolutely horrible! We had a reservation for 1130 and we were made to wait outside for 15minutes. The lady serving our table was rude and got our order wrong. Food was good but not great. Overall, would not recommend.
MoreThe service was poor!! Starters came at different times and were poor quality. The mains were awful . Fillet steaks served without asking what way it was requested!! Eg someone who requested medium rare steak was served a well done Steak etc!! Most meat was charred and dry!! Didn’t ask for desserts because the outcome was obvious! Worst of all broccoli covered in nuts served to person with nut allergy 😡😡😡
MoreDisappointing from start to finish.Party of 6 and 2 starters forgotten about. Staff were extremely unhelpful. The eye fillet steaks were burnt/charred and dried out. 2 meat platters ordered and beef skewers were missing from both, when we asked about the missing skewers the waitress seemed agitated. Vegetables were served to the table covered in nuts! This is NOT mentioned on the menu, thankfully the nut allergy customer noticed before consuming!! Overall service, food and safety standards 0/10.
MoreA beautiful waterside setting and fabulous decor did not support what was a disappointing occasion. Having requested an internal table at our booking, we were seated at an external table. Most of the food ordered for our group of 5 was excellent; unfortunately, the Lamb that was ordered was fatty and no amount of dissection of the ribs and gristle lead to finding any succulent meat. This was then followed by a Mille-feuille whose puff pastry was burnt and tasteless. The Latte and Afogato coffee that was served was lukewarm and frankly bland and tasteless, most disappointing for such a renowned restaurant. What does it take to present a flavorsome coffee. Had they used a Nespreso brand, it would have been a triumph. As it was, it tasted of coffee powder; something that would have been presented from a catering Jar forty years ago. Some of staff, at times appeared to have no energy for their task of presentation or vitality to give the customer an experience for which top-dollar was being paid. The manager seemed to hover around the the main desk where bills were paid. Eyeballing the presentation of food by the waiting staff and their energies for their role would have seen him better employed. Following a request to have a word with the person in charge, the price of the Lamb and Mille-feuille was deducted from our payment.....the reason one star is given here. A rather disappointing experience from a Restaurant that had been raved about and commended by our hosts. May be quite a time before they are enticed back to Cocos, which is a shame, as it is a vibrant, though at times, is as noisy as an audience at a Boxing evening, has a menu and Wine List of immense potential, if the staff and food live up to it. Not usually this cutting in my reviews, just a by-product of my disappointment 🙃.
MoreA very disappointing anniversary dinner. No duck so ordered the chowder special which was average and we wanted to have a bottle of red with our meal, lack of service left us drinking sparkling water. Have been going for the past 20 years, will not be back for a while. Maybe wait for the chef to change.
MoreStay away from this restaurant, Nothing impressed. Even the owner@ manager Abd Tajeddine is very defensive when I told him about the salted caramel sauce is over salty on my dessert. “He says no one is complaining , very arrogant! No good .
MoreCocos Major FAIL....A farewell dinner planned for a friend from overseas. I therefore requested a table near the front so our friends could see the Perth skyline at night (booking made 5 weeks in advance), we were placed in the far rear RH corner of the restaurant??? All 4 main courses were bad, greasy fish, $50 plus steak that was tough, and 2 fish pies with pastry so hard, we had difficulty cutting with a sharp knife. One sticky date bomb alaska ordered for dessert was so so sweet, even the major sweet tooth at the table could not eat it. When asked by the Manager, how were our meals, I explained, very disappointing.......there was no offer, to credit the 3 cocktails, or the 1 dessert, nothing.......This was an expensive night out, what a waste of money, never again. There are far too many amazing restaurants for half the price in Perth, that I would choose next time.Cocos is no longer the Cocos of days gone by, when you were always guaranteed a beautiful meal......Sue
MoreTook visitors from Sydney to what use to be one of Perths better restaurants. So dissapointed and imbarrassed. Table not ready on arrival and all down hill from there. Staff that cant answer questions about the menu, no water or appropriate cuttlery without asking. Two meals returned, fish bones in fish and steak full of gristle. No hassles from the staff when given feed back and 2 meals refunded but all and all an expensive night with two people leaving hungry!!
MoreThe experience was decent, however the food. Ah the food. It felt like it was a good old Aldi microwavable meal. I had the Black Angus Pasta. Tasted exactly like Aldis microwavable pasta.
MoreI went to Coco with my wife and friends to celebrate my wife’s birthday and the service was great and food was amazing!I can recommend this restaurant 100%
MoreVery relaxed no rush, lunch time dining. Food was delicious and staff were friendly and attentive. Best time.
MoreDid not feel special. Not what it used to be. Food was mediocre at best, sweets menu had nothing with any wow.Service was similar to what I’d get at McDonald’s.You can’t charge these prices when you don’t deliver the best.If there’s staff shortages, you should not have booked out all your tables, staff looked undertrained. Can’t pay at the table, you have to walk up to front desk, meet with the guy who upon arrival was very charming and could not stop going on about the beautiful view and how he picked this seating for me as view was so special, but during the paying process did not speak to me, not one word, no did you enjoy or how was your evening, not a single word. Not good enough to wasn’t another visit
MoreMy partner and I wanted our date to be memorable as we celebrated our first week together as a couple. We were definitely not let down at Coco’s. The staff who greeted us was very welcoming and had given us a seat near the heater overlooking the beautiful river, framed by the city sky lights! We had a 5 Star seating indeed! We ordered two entrees to share, the mouthwatering bruschetta ( which my partner thoroughly enjoyedand the tasting seafood platter. For mains, we had dhufish cooked to perfection, served delicately with toasted vegetables and a hint of vinaigrette. Yum!! We completed the meal with a dessert each! What a night to remember 👫❤️❤️🍷🍮
MoreI realise we are times of inflation but I just paid $38 for a fish pie that miss mauds do for $4.50 that not only tastes better comes with better service. Mrs got vegan rissoto had a full garlic clove not even minced looked like microwaved prison slop. long waits for simple things like getting a drink. Orders that went forgotten. Manager guy at the pay station was rude when paying and didnt care. Prices are at a 5 star price but could get a better meal at your average pub. Enjoy the view but get ready to spend your weeks wages on pub food. Do yourself a favour and go next door and save 50% on food and have a extra beer or two.
MoreI was with my wife for dinner in Cocos. We were greeted by friendly staff member and were seated at the table with beautiful view. However food was terrible. Seafood tasting platter $58 was a quality of cheap lunch bar.Soggy squid rings, smelly prawns and tasteles scollops. Capriccio beef was flavourless...Overpriced and bad quality food. Menu is old-fashioned and set-up needs to be modernised. They cant cash up on old reputation and nice views. They need to lift up the game. Conclusion is : overpriced and disappointing. $250 for dinner for 2 would expect better quality food.
MoreHad a great night at Cocos, service was super fast, probably too quick if im honest as we had 3 courses served, cooked and eaten in just on 60mins which was great but i felt like we didnt get to "relax" as no sooner than we had time to scoff down something the next item was ready and the waiters eagerly keen to take a plate as soon as it was done. Just felt like we were being rushed to vacate the table for the next group..Overall food was decent but didnt amaze. Will visit again
MoreI gave one star just because the food was very good... Unfortunately the stuff, starting from the manager down, have not customer service at all.. we waited more than 45 minutes for our meals ... I know it was mothers day and it was busy, but thats no excuse for their stuff to be rude. There were no apologies for the delay, instead they excused them self saying "I dont think you have been waiting that long" ....Customer service classes is urgently needed in this place...
MoreWe chose to celebrate a very significant event at Cocos Restaurant on the evening of Anzac Day. Our table of six were looked after extremely well. The staff were amazing and the food delicious. We are looking forward to returning in the future.
MoreI do not recommend it at all. I was early and asked them to sit in balconey. Despite it was completely empty, they refuse. They said you have to order alcohol drink in order to sit in balconey!!! Furthermore, They charge me 4 time more than other restaurants. If you check the photo you can understand the amount of food they served. I paid $125.00 for such a little bit of food!!!
MoreBeen here several times and always a great ambience. Food portions are quite small but good quality, l always add sides 😊. Views seal the evening as a good one.
MoreBeen wanting to try this place out for ages and finally took my wife to dine in for Valentines Day. You will be greeted by their friendly staff member with a smile which makes you welcome. They make sure that you have been looked after as soon as you sit down. Upon looking into their menu, few selections of appetizing meals available but it seems that their drinks selection has more pages than their meal, I guess they are known for their drink selections. So we took a meal to share as our entree and mains for each of us. Didnt want to order more or any side, just afraid we would order too much as we decided to order desserts after our meal. It was a bit of a wait but its understandable as it was a busy night. Our meal came and did not disappoint. Portions are just good enough for us. Fresh ingredients are used and tasty as well, cooked to perfection. Our dessert came with a guide from the waitress on how we should enjoy the dessert which was very helpful. Not many places do this. So I would suggest dine here if you can either have lunch or dinner and have a few drinks while you are here but please do reservation as this place does get busy. They are open for 7 days!
MoreIf you want to spoil yourself or someone else then Cocos will not disappoint. With stunning views of the Swan River along with excellent service and fine dining experience any occasion spent at Cocos will be one to remember. Offer an extensive variety of wines perfect for a night out for those more refined taste
MoreAmazing service, fantastic view and best restaurant food Ive tasted. Definitely worth the value and great place to go
MoreWe were so lucky to be squeezed in. For lunch crowd, the place was packed. The staff are super friendly and welcoming.Portions are a tad bit tiny, so order side dishes. I enjoyed my meal and would definitely come again. You may have to RSVP to avoid disappointment.
MoreThey are well located adjacent to the Swan River with a view of the city. The staff were friendly and helpful and our meals arrived quickly after placing our order. All staff were wearing face masks and hand sanitizer was well located.
MoreAbsolutely DEVINE. Prompt and fast personal service. Wonderful food. We had Chevy look after us and he was exceptional. Thanks cocos!
MoreDinner with a friend. No reservation but no big deal, tables still available. I ordered the seafood pasta, advertised as fresh pasta, and evident by the clumps of pasta when served. Scallops and prawns were delicious and dish altogether was good, but didnt feel deserved of the $40+ dollars I paid.
MoreExcellent service, more carnivore than vegetarian but will accommodate, great views to Perth CBD, very conservative patrons including stuffy locals. Expensive, friendly Staff..
MoreFood was very nice, lovely views.Service wasnt very friendly, staff could be much more pleasant.
Moregreat location, the whole precinct has been redeveloped really nicely. food is a little hit and miss we thought. the duck dish was very good and the desserts great, but others a bit average. friendly service
MoreHit and missWe had the seafood and beef sharing platters.Scallops were ok but squid was lovely. Prawns had that cooked from frozen taste.Chips were actually out of this world good!!Ribs were terrible and we didn’t touch most of the meat plateSpaghetti Bolognese my daughter said was okDessert fantasticA mishmash of varying quality but overall not good enough to drag it out the ok section of dining.Service was ok.
MoreGreat food with professional service and unbelievable views of city over the river.Have been dinning in the restaurant over many years and never been disappointed with choice of food.Highly recommended
MoreEven though the food is pricey but we really enjoyed the food and especially the dessert. Really a good ambience by the foreshore.
MoreI went here in Jan 2020, first time to this place, was told very nice restaurant, five of us in our dinner party. Had a nice drink out on the deck area on dusk, was very nice. Beautiful river breeze and views were pretty good. Good selection of drinks, beers on tap, wines and spirits. Good service with drinks on deck. Headed into main restaurant area, very nice, not to crowded by having tables right up next to each other, good space around tables. Again service was nice, prompt and on point. Selection of entrees was good, the people who had the ousters said they were fair to good. Dipping bread appeared the winner in our selection of entrees. Didnt have to wait to long for mains, unfortunately one of our orders had chili in the pasta when we asked not to have. The person who was having it is mildly allergic to it, they forgot to take out. They quickly replaced his meal with no fuss. Steaks cooked perfect as to pork belly. Dessert too was very nice, sticky date pudding is in the picture, coffee was terrible... very cold. Selection of wines too was good, after several drinks, I needed to make my way to bathroom... this was a disappointment, did not reflect the class of the restaurant, not clean or tidy, bordering on a nice public toilet experience. Overall pretty good restaurant, very expensive, service was very good, staff friendly, not hurrying back, but will most likely go here again. Oh.. good parking underneath restaurant, great place to take a stroll along the river and walk off the dinner. Location is awesome, great views of the Perth city skyline lit up at night.
MoreOmg delicious delicious delicious. Outstanding service, food was so good and generous serves. Always wanted to go and see what this place.is all about. Driven past it, dreaming one day I may get to go in. Def going back.
MoreFirst had the salt and pepper fried squid, was soo oily it was returned and i ordered a steak instead, steak was nicw, but sauce was salty so was the potatoes! The chicken dish my husband ordered was nice. But really average overall for the price. Could do much better!I recall this place was better!
MoreLoved it. The food is excellent order the prawn salad. Its actually peeled prawns all packed in together. When you eat it you dont spend 20 minutes peeling the slippery suckers, end up with a pile of shells and 5 prawns eaten.I think they may have over capitalised on the alcohol selection, but then again... I dont, and would never own a restaurant, so who am I to judge a place that is obviously doing well.Only two pages of food ... perfect. I would hate to have to choice what i wanted to drink though... So much to chose from, and so little time.
MoreThe atmosphere and view were amazingI like the presentation of the foodWent there for my birthday i got some nice small cake with a candle and singing for meFood quality is alright I guess like any other restaurants nothing special about the food taste
MoreGreat views of the swan river and the city. Food was top quality as expected given the price you pay for it, so really happy with that. Service was average, it took a while for us to be greeted. Then once seated and served drinks, I reached for my bottle of water as was thirsty and nearly got shouted for doing that? So not keeping an eye on peoples drink levels was an issue as you couldnt "self pour" and insane others with the same treatment. Also my dish came out wrong as requested. Other than the service, great place for lunch with a large variety of wine to choose from.
MoreSituated on the South Perth foreshore, Cocos is great restaurant whether it be for a casual breakfast or the perfectly cooked steak with a fine glass of wine while enjoying the view of the city and beautiful Swan River.
