Coco's Corner - Historical place in San Felipe, Mexico
Visiting Coco was a requirement fir all of my Baja trips. I met him on my first Baja excursion and he was always welcoming, kind, and wise.
Rip
Sadly, Coco passed away 8/30/2022 at his corner. He was a fixture in Baja. He was well-known, loved and will be missed.
Rest in peace Coco you will be missed by many
Always awesome to visit Coco!
Best place to be when you find yourself traveling through the middle of nowhere.
Cool place to stop and meet Coco. Sign the guest book.
Some changes in local but remains a popular stopEspecially since Baja 1000 going to go by this year!
Cocos Corner is at its new location along the new Highway 5. Google doesnt show the new highway yet so cant move the pin. Same area as the old location just near the new paved road and is hard to miss.He said he sees a lot of people fly by now since the new paved road is much quicker than the old Ruta 5. Stop by and grab a coke or beer from the legend at the new spot and sign the logbook like so many others have before. Even if youre heading down 1 its a quick detour and easy to get to now.
Coco’s Corner is at its new location. Coco is 82 and though he is confined to a wheelchair has been a Baja California institution for decades. Stop by and say “Hi” to a Baja Legend. Coco often has stories, cold beer and sodas to share with visitors!
I get that this place is interesting and all, but the guy was just plainly rude to us. To my first hello, he made some racists noises, which was not funny, and everybody there got silent and awkward. We had to leave right away.
Free camping on the baja run by a formernpolice officer. Safe and community driven. Jorge who runs it is mind of like an old jedi of baja. It was empty when I went, but covid and all that... jorge was a generous host. Currently its a drive down a dirt road because the state moved the highway. Jorge said they were going to move closer to the highway. A rare community project worthy of support. Ill be back.
Be polite and buy Beer from Coco! Awesome place.
One of the greatest STOPS you could make in all of Baja.Coco is the great entertainer of the Baja Desert and his place is like a carnival of trinkets, large picture, polka dotted panties and an oasis in thebeautiful Baja desert!
It cannot get more unique than Coco"s Corner. I triple dog dare you to spend a couple three hours here trying to prove that wrong. You would do well to listen to some stories while sittin for a spell.
We had the pleasure in May 2020 of riding through and paying homage to Coco. I arrived first and had some time to chat with Coco...and hang a few pictures for him. We loaded up with some beer, zap-strapped a BMW F800gs back together, then continued south. If you pass by Coco’s corner, stop in and say hi and bring him something special. He prefers lace or Moto-plates...I brought the latter.
An amazing human being!!! This is not a commercial place. Coco is a wise man, living in the middle of nowhere, depending on donations and the sodas and beer he can sell. Since the Mex 5 is completely paves and bypasses him, visitors have to make an effort to get his place. Very much worth the detour!!
This was an absolute privilege to hold court with Coco. The man is a legend and wise beyond his years. Nothing else to say but thanks to my brother for the recommendation and Coco for the hospitality.
Classic, must stop for bikes
Place is in the middle of nowhere and really creepy ... Perfect for shooting a scary movie
Great stop for a cold beverage and some very interesting conversation. Heading south on 5, the ride is definitely made for adventure bikes
an iconic place..a really neat guy..and a good place to stop for a soda or beer
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ICONA TRIP TO BAJA IS NOT A TRIP WITHOUT HAVING A BEER WITH JORGE
What a place you have not seen the world until you have seen Cocos Corner. You will never forget it.
Coco is a character! Great place to stop for a beer while out rippin baja.
I came into Cocos late in the evening Feb 8th 2018. It was getting cold and I needed a place to shack up for the night. Coco was most gracious and hospitable. I recommend stopping by and visiting any time you can. Hes fun to chat with, but he also gives much meaning to life in the Back Outback. Coco, if you see this, know that I appreciate your there!
A place to get a cold drink. Not friendly at all
Coco has been doing it for over 80 years. Almost a must stop, will be historic at some point.
Coco is one of a kind. If you ride adventure or dirt bikes, this is a must stop. Good for a cold beer a bathroom, and a few laughs. This place is iconic. Have your lady bring an extra set of panties to contribute to the decor
Cool historic spot for the desert racer at heart.
Grab a beer! And then have a few more!Side note to all the whiney reviews of this place... This is Baja! Dont cry about ruts in the road, out houses for bathrooms or lack of any other facilities. Go back to California/ Canada/ Starbucks. No one wants you here anyways.
A legendary place and person for all racers and back road travellers. Been visiting Coco for years.
Interesting stop in the middle of no where along the bad road on 5. We stopped to stretch our legs and take a break from the road and to snap a few pics. Didnt go inside though.
Quite an interesting stop. There is lots of racing history here and photos on the walls. Dont expect good bathrooms, all there are is a couple of out houses.
He cut trenches across the road and I bent both rims on my Ducati.. go slow!!
super:-#americanway2017
Legendary little spot to take a brake, chat with fellow travelers and have a cold one
Living legend Baja stable must visit when in Baja
Is coco conor a pyramid or a moutain
Cheap beer and a bathroom you should be careful in. This is a place to meet fellow travellers and experience Coco, the man, the myth, the legend.
Great place to stop and rest..
A little oasis (if you can call it thatin the middle of a few tough roads. Not sure if this should be a 1 star or a 5 star but if youre looking to for a quick Coke or beer, and meeting some interesting people as they pass through, this is the spot!
Coco is a character. Beer and water is cold and cheap.
If you are ever in Baja, you have to see Coco. He has been living here for 75 years. A great place to stop for a cold beer, or soda.
omg Coco is such a bandito! friend rolled his Jeep on the way to calamajue (cah-law-mah-way--- but coco got wind of it - we went out the next morning to get it, but it wasnt there! As we were coming back, lo and behold, there it was, parked at Cocos Corner! He had stripped it - then he demanded we pay him for towing it out!LOL no bueno coco, no bueno!
Interesting old dude. Dont understand the review from Jeffrey survives that says he was rude and walked away because he doesnt have legs.
Great olace to stop for a beer
The guy was unfriendly. He looked down at me and then he simply walked away. There was nothing much in Cocos corner. The road was incredibly rough. It was not worth to visit there.
Love this place. Coco is great and the beer is ice cold.
If you are going to Laguna Chapala (highway 1from San Felipe you pass by Cocos Corner. A van had broken down and Coco invited the whole group in from the rain, and they were working on their car. They would have been stranded if it hadnt been for Coco and his corner. We took some pictures and signed his book, and had some laughs.
