Stylish eatery & tavern turning out refined American classics in The Daniel, an historic hotel.
Cosy atmosphere, great staff and the food was great if it were closer to home I would eat there on a regular basis.
Food was over salted, cooked well, but salty. I think we had a waiter, but he was absent. Too busy talking with friends not in the restaurant. Never again.
The service is very slow and the food coming out of the kitchen is even slower. Will not be returning this summer.
Delicious
First time at the Coast, and was very impressed with the food, atmosphere, their friendliness and service,There were 6 adults in our group and even though we arrived early, before they were open, they were very accommodating and seated us right away.We all thought our meals were delicious. We had fish tacos, and Greek pizza. Three of us had the chowder and thought it was one of the best weve had. Their cocktails were great too.We will definitely be coming back again to the Coast!
The worst restaurant experience I’ve had in many years. Our waitress was pleasant enough, but seemed to be hostess (forgetting our reservation), bar tender (never heard of a gimlet), and waitress (never got our bread while waiting an hour for our meals, had to beg for water). And chef!? Three of us ordered the same dish - baked haddock in a butter sauce, with mushrooms and poached potatoes. What arrived - after an hour wait (there were only 4 other tables with people in the restaurant- was a bowl of thin stew-like slop filled mostly with under-cooked Brussels sprouts, a few cherry tomatoes thrown in, and garnished with a few shreds of a white fish (let’s be kind, and call it haddock). Ironically, my sister had ordered the roasted Brussels sprout appetizer, and was told they were out of sprouts! She had also ordered the salmon entree originally, but 30 min after ordering, was inform it was not available, so she switched to the “baked haddock”.Might our waitress have actually been the hotel front desk manager - lobby desk was unmanned - and was trying to cover the restaurant after kitchen staff were a no-show or quit or something? Whatever the reason, it was truly awful. I got yelled at later by my guests when they learned I actually left a tip, but I assumed the issue was the kitchen, not the waitress (missing bread and water notwithstanding).
I have given this place chance after chance, with a group of friends and it has become increasingly worse between spring 2018 and now (spring 2019). Their beer and wine list is decent, the setting and decor is cozy; we loved kicking back on the sofas in front of the fire place; the food is okay, though definitely not Celiac/gluten-free friendly. What we could and would no longer tolerate is the dreadful service!Aside from one server (female/blondishwho was not only repeatedly rude, but right out hostile with a consistent bad attitude, the service is incredibly slow. Trying to get drinks and appetizers easily takes seventy five minutes. If condiments are missing from your plate, best accept the loss and start eating, or else your food will be cold , as there is no follow-up.If you havent lost your appetite by then out of frustration and are braving ordering a main course meal, there is easily another fourty five minute wait from finishing your appetizer to the time of the server taking your main course order. Its hard to have any willpower left, after three and a half hours to even think about ordering dessert.Furthermore, over the summer, there was a solo musician, on Friday nights, who made it impossible to enjoy ones dinner or have any conversation, as he played so loud as if he were performing at a concert venue. Addressed the issue on different occasions with staff, management and the musician and there was complete lack of willingness to make adjustments to the volume levels. It seemed that staff and management were afraid to talk to this guy about it. The musician himself, was very adement about having completed a sound check when setting up and unwilling to discuss further beyond that statement of his.All in all, I would not recommend "Coast" as a dinner venue.
Service took forever and the food really was sub-par. I would highly recommend against the shrimp and garlic pizza, as it was basically a $2 cheese pizza with a couple pieces of shrimp on it.
Fish tacos are the best around. Very comfortable seating, a fireplace, and plenty of TVs around. Parking out back.
Friendly service, haddock tacos were delicious and lightly spicy, salad fresh with lots of heirloom tomatoes and homemade champagne vinaigrette. Great beer choices.
Lovely space with a variety of seating and a welcoming fire on a grey cloudy Sunday afternoon. We had appetizers and drinks to celebrate a successful project completion - everything was delicious.
Great food, great service and beautiful place!! #romantic #localspot
Haddock sandwich was very good
It was an average experience. Not a "wow" factor.
Good food, poor service, cozy ambience
Great burgers
Great pub setting with excellent beer selection.
Good service and food, friendly atmosphere
Atmosphere, food, service, and entertainment are all very good. Reasonable prices too.
Knowledgeable waitstaff about wine which was impressive and food was delicious! Definitely recommend and will go back.
Ive been here several times and was hesitant to leave 2 stars, so Id say its closer to 2.5 stars. The food is good and the wine and beer list are very good but the service is so slow! Dinner shouldnt take 2 hours but, when your server doesnt return to take an order it easily will! No refills on water or offers to get more drinks or apologies for how long everything takes. This isnt the first time it was an issue and unfortunately that means we probably wont be back. Its easy to forget the service part can be the most important.
Great late night dining in midcoast area. Easy access from Rt 1/295. Kitty & Wally take care of you. Popular place & easy to see why
Great drinks an atmosphere
A group of us met after work for happy hour and Sarah and staff did a great job keeping up with our large group! Love the variety of cocktails and mini appetizers. Fun atmosphere and they even have live music some nights. Will go back again and this time for dinner.
Went for Easter brunch and it was very good. Wide variety of good food that was kept fresh with regular refills. Overall it was a really nice meal but what Ill remember most was our server Samantha going out of her way to be very thoughtful of my 85+ year old Mom. I look forward to going back to try the non-brunch menu.
We came here for cocktails and beers after dinner and it was very nice. Tables and chairs are laid out in a comfortable, homie manor with luxurious leather wingback chairs and couches. A central fireplace seporate the lounge and dinning spaces and the low lighting adds a level of intamicy. During our last visit they had a live musician playing acoustic covers. Coast is part of the historic Daniel Stowe Inn but is well worth a try even if you are not staying here.
Had the prime rib and it was very good it was served with au jus, however horseradish would be a plus.
Food is great. Interesting new flavor combos.
Very nice place with good low carb options. Waitstaff was very nice, a little absent but nice. I think it was the time of night that we were there. Will return.
So good! appetizers are great. This place is a gem thats off the beaten path. Great infused and cocktail menu.
Fun, cozy place - really a hidden gem! Great menu, including one of the best appetizer selections in Brunswick. They have a solid beer selection and some of the best cocktails in the area. One of our absolute favorite!
Great food and atmospere
nice resturant
This is the BEST place for date night, a night out with the girls etc. Amazing food, great atmosphere and incredible service!!!!
Great place for good food and drinks. Bar infuses many alcohols themselves for yummy concotions. Hidden and off the map makes it more enjoyable for causal, leisurely dining.
Very nice! Good food & service.
Poor beer selection (especially in bottled form), bartender who Snapchats while working, and I had to put my burger down because I smelled something that I can only describe as dog food.
Had the seafood chowder which was phenomenal. Great ambiance and music.
Really nice cocktails, great service and a classy aura
Excellent
