Clubmed kamarina - Tourist attraction in Ragusa, Italy
Clubmed kamarina in Ragusa
Description
Privilege
The place is beautiful, the food is excellent, but the rooms are in need of an upgrade
MoreUsually a club med stay is something positive and enjoyable - but this was different. This resort has worsened so much, that it is merely unbelievable. First of all the GOs seem to be incredible incompetent (Maybe because of the lack of a good chef de village - Andrea has 0 control of his GOs and is even not able to speak french or english). The variety of food has been halved and in some cases some of the food was not refilled (spare ribs were only there for 5 min- even not with anything else. But now to the biggest disappointment - my room. Already when I came in I noticed a terrible smell. After looking for about 3 seconds I found a big spot of mold. (Apparently the airco leaked into the ceiling). The reception was not very helpful (very rude receptionist at the hotel - who seems to have a better vacation than me (partying till 2 am and jumping around with women, while working 3 hours a day). I was not allowed to change the room and had to live with a very rude smirk from that guy. So all in all not a pleasant stay :(
MoreGreat club with lots of facilities and entertainment for kids and adults. Food is good, but rooms could do with a make over.
MoreLocation is really nice, unfortunately the club is very dated and needs a lot of renovation. Rooms are extremely old but everything is clean. The GOs are awesome and always there to make your staying as fun as possible, although when we visited it was basically only French people and no way for our kids to enjoy the mini/junior clubs and also several sport activities. This was the only disappointment and something we did not expect.Food was good but the main restaurant has no air conditioning and it was extremely hot, also for the workers. Very crowed and hard to find a spot without sitting with foreigners. The bar personnel was also very nice even at the busiest times of the day.Tennis staff was the best, shows at night were fun but again all in French …Chef de Village was great and always entertaining.
MoreVery bad and poor food in the restaurants. Poor food and services in the bars.
I came here with my family in the morning of July 25th.The place looks great, it’s clean it’s very big, has a wonderful beach and pool and even tho the place was blown with people you just don’t feel your in a crowded place it’s great. The food here is good but it’s completely unbearable to sit and eat while your soaking wet from your sweat drenching on your body because of the immaculate lack of A/C’s here; only the rooms have an AC(and I gotta say it packs a punch thereand in just a little more places but no restaurant here even has an AC and it’s just insufferable sitting in 30+ degrees eating your food. Also, in the 2 times we went to the bathroom in our room, the door handle just stayed in our hands (even though they fixed it very fast. customer service is good here from our experience), and the WiFi here is terrible, you better come with a big package of surfing cellular data because it won’t reach far in the village and even if it will it’s not that good.I really gotta say, props to this place for every other aspect of a club med. But the belief of the sea breeze being enough really is just insufficient and so untrue because it just gets so bad because of the heat and being able to do nothing about it that will completely ruin your experience here.We really did not expect this out of Club Med, we’ve already been to Les Arcs Panorama and it was just heaven and we really didn’t expect anything this bad out of Club Med.
MoreThere is a lot to say about this club. The food is not great, the rooms are really basic and it is a huge resort. But one thing is sure about the season of summer 2022 in Kamarina. The team of G.O’s, and especially the circus team are just great. A very special thank to: Adriano, Gautier, Téo, Fiona, Chloé and Orelien for being so great with us, kids and adults as one. They are a professional and supportable team and we learned so much from them during this holiday. Thanks a lot guys you were incredible !
MoreGreat team of GOsGood accommodation - double bedsrather than twin would have been awesome
MoreFaded. Lot of TLC missing.
We traveled for the first week of opening: end of May into the first week of June with our 5 year old daughter and friends with their family of 2 kids as well. A mix of quieter / less GMs which allows access to more activities without any queues but also a bit less atmosphere at events and first time interactions/shows for some GOs that are still learning the ropes. We had an excellent time as our second time at a club med. It met all the expectations of good food, lots of activities, events and shows, everything catered for.Our whole group had a blast on the Flying Trapeze rig with Adriano, Theo, Aurelien, Gauthier, and Fiona. Not our first time on a trapeze but definitely a wonderful experience! Thank you very much Adriano and team!We sent 3 kids to the petit and mini club and from their interactions with the GOs, they obviously had a fantastic time. Andrea, Rossella and Agnes definitely left a mark on our children as they would run to give them hugs and high fives anytime they saw them. They had a blast at the clubs and never complained at drop off.The whole staff was very welcoming, any time you came across them, they were up for a chat, joined at different meals, answered questions, and shared their experiences. Andrea, the Chef de village, was always available for a chat and present pretty much anywhere and everywhere. Peppe (in the sports team), Vincenzo (lifeguard), Linda (choreographer), and Joe (photographerwere all super friendly. It was very enjoyable getting to know them throughout our stay and helped make it a success with great recommendations and friendly chats.Although none of the GOs are professional actors or artists, the amount of effort put into all the shows is clearly seen. Its definitely very enjoyable to have so many events to attend as long as you understand that it is prepared and presented in house. And yet, they pulled out all the stops for the final show of the week with an excellent circus show, dancing on land and water and fireworks! Although some of the kids shows could really use a bit of improvement, the show presented by the kids (driven by the GOswas actually very engaging and well done! The food was delightful, all week across 3 meals a day (plus 2 snack timeswe always found something to nibble or feast on. The buffet style allows you to have any of the many dishes that are available with different wine, beer or juice options. One of the days, there was an amazing Mozarella Buffala and local tomato stand that was to die for! We went back several times but really wish there were more local specialties available on a daily basis. The omelet stand also got regular visits from us but given it is Italy at the end of the day, would be good to have a barista available or a proper coffee option.Bearing in mind that this is one of the few remaining 3 trident club meds, all in all, it was a very enjoyable and extremely relaxing (albeit too many activities due to FOMOtrip that well definitely look to repeat with club med.
MoreLots to love about Kamarina, as you would expect from Club Med; fantastic location with some of the best soul feeding sunsets Ive ever seen, the (frankly massivepool and resort design is beautiful and hides the scale of the operation well while having a lovely village centre feel, good food including desserts worth skipping your main for, and a decent kids programme. If you havent been before, excellent childcare is one of Club Meds big selling points, with a sort of day-camp feel kids love, but this mini club wasnt quite on par with some of the others weve visited. Despite this one being the most flexible and English friendly weve experienced, and our kids making lots of friends, they werent in the usual rush to go hang out with the staff, with quite a bit of unwanted rough play reported.Entertainment also presented annoyances were unaccustomed to when travelling with Club Med. We were frequently driven crazy with the same track looping over and over wherever we went. The idea of a beach BBQ really appealed but the food was just terrible. The mosquitos and flies of an evening were misery inducing. Nothing seemed to start on time (I know, we were in Italy, but with three young kids this stuff matters). This was then exacerbated by the GM (new in-post as I understandwho seems to really (I mean reallylike the sound of his own voice. Everything apparently needed a full explanation in three languages before it started, and then celebrating the staff afterwards took just as long as the performance itself. Im no grump and all for making a fuss of those that make our holiday possible, and I know we have a lot to be thankful for after the last few years, but when you start to feel like the staff are having a better time than you, something has gone wrong somewhere.Im sure much of this is down to the fact the week we visited was the first post-covid reopening, however there are fair few things on the dislike list which I suspect the GM may struggle to come to terms with.In summary, there are a lot of people here wanting to help you have a good time, and you can certainly have a good holiday (we certainly did!), but theres a way to go before you could have a great holiday.
MoreA memorable holiday with my family. My favourite activity was Archery where I entered not knowing how to use an arck to end up with great results.
MoreNice houses, nice food, nice drinks, nice beach but the people really lift this to a 5 star review. Passes the vibe check with flying colours.
MoreIf you like to spend a romantic vacation: this is not the right place. It is packed with people and running and screaming children (400even during evening outside performances. It was even difficult to do the aquagym since some of them would stay and swim where the aquagym was happening.Nevertheless, the activities are great. Thanks to Romain Marco, Julie, Lucas, Gael, Alix and Vincent.Reception staff were not always up to speed, but thanks to Lucia, Denise and Davide who were extremely helpful and pleasant. In the restaurant, Marco, Fabrizio (I am not sure if I got it right but very close to that name), and Fred also were sweet and helpful. The rooms were OK.WIFI could be only used at the Agora (main outside square)
MoreWe were met at the airport by helpful and friendly staff who showed us to our coach. Upon arrival we were given a tour of the site which is enormous and all of the facilities. These range from learning circus skills, archery, tennis, sailing and diving to games such as petanque mini golf and football. Every day there is water aerobics which is great fun. The gym is small but well equipped. The swimming pools are vast. There are many restaurants ranging from table service to self service and take away snacks. The food is very good quality, well prepared and tasty especially considering they cater for up to 2000 guests. Kids club is on everyday except Saturday. Only gripe is the cost of the shops and taxi service to local towns. However, if you want a relaxing beach and pool holiday or an action packed one you will love this place.
MoreFood could be hotter, take care of the bug problem in the rooms . Not best club med I been to
MoreInstallations need renovation (starting point could be toilets of rooms...Service during month of October was poor (useless waiting time at reception just to take towels... No information on departure hours and details. GO were kind as always and fitness and tennis lessons were good!
MoreGreat GOs, who make everything easier, and seaside very nice but facility needs to be renewed and it’s not safe for little children ( pavement broken with sharp edgesand wild dogs rooming around uncontrolled
MoreWe had a great time in kamerina hotel, the food was good, the pool was very big and the stuff is super friendly, the kids club is amazing with great sport activities and amazing shows and program. The mini club team is the best, even though my girls dont speak french they connecetd with them amazing!! Special thanks to quentin, from the team that made Special offer to make their stay magical.
MoreMe and my wife, son. Daughter in law and granddaughter visited for a last week and I must say that their logistics in getting you picked up from the airport then dropped off was great. Upon being greeted we were asked who was American and spoke only English and we were the only ones and the guide did speak English but continued in other languages without translation for us even when we asked questions we knew at that point Americans werent welcome. This continued when on day 2 after being out of our room all day and there were ants crawling all over the bed and nightstand and wall we called reception and they said they would send someone up to take care of this. 3 hours went by and no one came and it was 11pm everyone ready to sleep. I walked down to reception and asked for another room and they stated Manager is just going to eat and I would get a call back never happened we slept in living room. Went down the next morning and they said Manager would be in in an hour and would call it never happened again. 2 days no room service and a lot of excuses. There reception has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I woul not recommend this resort to my enemies.
MorePositive: an amazing and breathtaking beach area, well maintained and very clean. Water quality very good. A huge well-kept garden surrounded with beautiful flower trees, palms, banana and olive trees. Cleaning ladies punctual and friendly. Reception mostly friendly and efficient. Village roads clean and welcoming. Personell and GOs friendly, happy and ready to assist. Excursions well organized, competent and punctual. Free tennis courts every time of the day with well functioning and powerful LED lights, wenn one likes to play evenings. Friendly tennis trainers willing to assist.Negaive: the whole facility is in need of a comprehensive maintenance. Doors, walls, tables are partly falling apart or are in extreme need of renovation. Tennis courts are wonderful but are bad maintained and watered. The club should have 4 restaurants but vulcano was closed during our stay. The food quality and the food variation was kept at a middle level. Rarely we could find the reach sicilian kitchen other than classical Italian pizza and pasta. Main restaurant sometimes very crowded, long cues for higher quality food which was given in small portions. Overall chairs which were mostly metallic and uncomfortable to seat. WIFI was not available i the rooms and village but just available around pool bar and roof garden or hotel area and even there very poor and slow quality. No beach bar to drink a beer or simple drinks at the beach. No shower or water to wash the sand from the feet around beach area. All in all we enjoyed our vacation there, it was relaxing and we were surrounded by mostly friendly and hard working personell. However the management needs to invest more in the outdated facility and food quality and variation in order to fit the preis/performance relationship.
MoreGreat shared spaces, relaxed feeling and great food. And family-friendly!
We went on a family vacation here and paid a substantial amount of money, the place is very simple but convenient, the problems were mostly with electricity (ongoing stops...like in Africa...No hot water in one of the evenings, bad smells...not recommended for people who do not speak French as the kids were not able to join the mini club, staff was nice enough and food was good, bottom line - no value for money, seek for another place
MoreThere is really amazing! Food is delocious, people are fantastic, views are astounding and nature is unbelievable. Really recommended 👌
MoreGreat for kids, thats about it. A lot of things are extra and grossly overpriced (massages, bike rental, even sunscreen). The rooms are old and smelly, the food is largely terrible, there are very few options for drinks included, no beer at the beach. Clearly the drinks and food ingredients are the cheapest possible, the quality level that most people stay away from in supermarkets. Younger kids will definitely be happy but there are places with better value for that, most likely.
MoreAmazing, lovely food and great facilities. Great staff
Nice atmosphere, several sports easily accessible, reasonably good kitchen (in particular at the hotel restaurant), very nice staff (e.g. Jo and Victor at the sailing club), interesting excursions nearby (above all Ibla, magic by night).
MoreQuite a good retreat for those who are into beach, food, alcohol and strive to have some spare time from their kids - junior club is fantastic and animator team members are as friendly as your granny. The only dull thing is that rooms are quite dated and it takes 10-15 to walk to the beach. Overall the place is good and the price is adequate.
MoreSpent a really enjoyable week here with my family in June. My first Club Med holiday and the formula works great. Very well run resort with lots to do, the chef de village Camilla was everywhere and made time to talk to everyone. The staff work incredibly hard and were always pleasant even under difficulty and hot working conditions. Bravo Club Med Karmarina!
MoreThis place was wonderful. Great pools and 2 spectacular beaches. Has all the great activities of Club Med including sailing and Catamaran. I went a little early in the season so the 4th restaurant wasnt open yet.
MoreBest resort place for holiday enjoyment and relaxation with all kind of spectacular activities, beautiful weather sand beaches. Enjoy your summer holidays.
MoreCAUTION !! This is not a Clubmed owned resort. I was told this by a Clubmed customer service rep look it up yourself. This this explains a lot why its in such poor shape. Shame on Clubmed for not disclosing this on their website.Poor condition, does not have the wow factor like other resorts when you step on the property. I was lucky to visit the resort a few weeks before my family vacation because I was working in Sicily. I started to get really worried as soon as I saw the club. Not a good sign when you see the signs and paint on the buildings cracking and in need of basic maintenance. The entire place looked like it has not been renovated since the disco era. The grounds were not well kept and the bungalows looked in bad shape. The pictures on the Clubmed website are not representative of the current condition, bait and switch trick hooked me. The bar tables, the cafeteria terrace were all worn out missing paint, and just looked unpleasant. When I go on vacation, I expect the facilities to be well maintained and look better than a public city park bench. From a safety standpoint, I would wonder what kind of condition the infrastructure (electrical, plumbing, structure, etcis in if spending 10 euros on paint is a show stopper. I am not OCD picky person, but I have visited many Clubmed since I was 11 in the 80s all over the world and I have never seen one in such sorry shape as Kamarina. I wanted to keep the tradition going now with my kids, but I am not happy at all how Clubmed customer support handled my request to change resorts or refund my deposit. They expected us to spend 50% more and have one less day of vacation, or visit a resort where westerners in that country are targets according to government travel warnings..All in all, I am going to lose 650 euros between airline tickets and Clubmed cancellation fees. Clubmed was unwilling to waive the 200 euro cancelation fees even though they admitted I was right the resort is in poor shape due to the private owner not willing to spend on renovations. They juicing the Clubmed name for all its worth... not worth much to me now. Unfortunately, I did not check Trip Advisor prior to my booking so see many more people share my opinion. I assumed all Clubmed were at the same basic standards and owned by the corporation. I fully understand this resort is a 3 Trident and I stayed a several other 3-4 Trident resorts, but that does not mean we do not expect basic hotel standards even for those whose cannot spend on a 5 Trident resort at Cefu. I will never book a Clubmed vacation again after so many decades of loyalty especially after theyre so greedy not to waive the cancellation fee. Many people have told me.. just go and have a good time with the family. True, I would have a good time anywhere with my family even in a slum in Mumbai, but I refuse to support the owner of this shabby resort.
MoreNice place with beach, excellent pool but a bit old and worn down.
It s fine but a bit old. The hotel side isn t really nice, no charm. The food is just ok, better eating outside in real Sicilian restaurant.clubmed buffet isnt as good as it used to be.Otherwise the staff is really good
MoreNot at all as expected was there 28 years ago and the food was delecious now not up to standerd any more its like a school refectory
MoreThe staff were GREAT but the place is very dated and badly in need of repair. A LOT of flies and one day the was a swarm of termites. The shower pan in our room didnt drain well and we reported it to the front desk but nothing was done about it. The sink stopper had to be put in and pulled out by hand. The bar by the beach only had wine and beer for alcohol. The food was always the same and not that good at all.
MoreThanks to the chef Rachid and Giuseppe my paleo life style has been made so easy and pleasurable during this holiday. Both of them were forthcoming and really helpful in tracking hard to get avocados. So this place is definitely paléo friendly.
MoreThe place is wonderful. The atmosphere is unique, the food is amazing and the staff is very friendly. We spend an amazing week here!
MorePotentially this resort could be a super star resort. It lost 2 stars from my review as.1it did not meet my expectations with regards to luxury.2getting there was a bit overwhelming and a bit disorganized, with no orientation or explanation of place process. The place is old and is desperate for a renovation.Rooms, bars, restaurants, decor, windows, tiles all he free standing furniture are old.Other than that staff is super friendly and helpful, activities are never ending. The photographs might be a bit annoying and persistent and you might have to just walk away fromPasta and Pizza are always delicious, meats can be not the best at times. But good enough to eat. With regards to cleanliness, staff try their best, but the outdated decor give the place a feel that it is not the cleanest. All in all for what you pay it is a great value for money and I would recommend as we had a very nice time. Considering its an all inclusive, but if you are looking for luscious luxury you may be disappointed.
MoreA resort set in beautifully maintained surroundings. We stayed in the villa area which is very centrally located and quite picturesque.Accommodation: On the plus side, the bedrooms had good air-conditioning and powerful showers. However, shower enclosure itself was mouldy in the corners, limescale building up around fittings and generally needing replacing. This is a resort fault, not the cleaners - the cleaners did an excellent job of tidying and cleaning. Generally though, fit for purpose although WiFi doesnt extend to the bedrooms (they would in the hotel).F&B: Excellent. The food was top notch both in the village and the hotel. Ample selection that suits all tastes and all ages. Fizzy drinks are not available at mealtimes in the restaurants but can be obtained from the bars and brought in if needs be. We settled to eating in the hotel for breakfast and dinner as generally it seemed less crowded, not so humid and not so prone to flies (which were a *real* nuisance). I saw baby stations in both restaurants for heating up meals etc.All the chefs were friendly as were the clearing up staff.Facilities: Loads to do but Im only listing those I actively used.Spa - excellent treatments and quite a nice spa area (hydrotherapy pool and hamman). This is extra cost.Beach - free sailing and kayaking.Archery - free but gets incredibly hotPing-Pong & Basketball - borrow equipment from near the reception areaPools - village pool is huge olympic size lanesand very crowded and noisy. Hotel, much more serene although much smaller but still possible to do lengths (especially as the whole area empties at lunchtime!)Staff: On the whole, excellent especially the resort managers who made a real effort to meet the guests at mealtimes and during the day when they were handing out water.Transportation: We came in from Catania airport which is at least 90 minutes away, Transfers were handled courteously and professionally although the roads take a little getting used to, especially if you are in a small vehicle.Overall: A great stay and we were lucky with the weather being cooler than normal but still 31-34 celsius and constant sun. It is a French run club and despite being in Italy, French did seem the primary language and whilst that was OK for me, for the rest of the family it made them feel a little alienated especially our children who found it difficult to socialise because it was a bit cliquey.
MoreFamily friendly vacation for all ages. Lots of activities, food, and drinks. Friendly and helpful staff.
MoreA bit old but still a lot of fun. For a large family looking for fun this is still one of the best options available and.... they DO know how to throw a party (foam party, beach party, glow party, take the Bastille party...). Feeling young again does not feel so bad afterall.
MoreA wide range of activities, large beaches, and huge swimming pool are the notable points of this Club Med. It is an older facility and showing wear and tear in some places. Check in was chaotic. Slow, crowded, and arrival bags finally located in departure area after 2 hours. Various useful information was not provided at check in so required a number of follow up questions at the overcrowded reception area. Seemed to be a policy of only tell guests what they ask, but perhaps that was all due to limited English language capabilities at the desk and so many people asking for attention. Check out was somewhat better. Good range of meals and service in the buffet restaurants. The specialty restaurants were disappointing and not worth bothering with for dinner so after trying each we stuck with the buffet restaurants. Overall a relaxing holiday and enjoyable as long as expectations are set at 3 star level. Great for the children who had a wonderful time and were sorry to leave.
MoreNice place, good service, a lot of activities, but the rooms are not the most Lux..
MoreVery good. indeed They made a massive effort to look after us and it was great. Camille the manageress must be almost super human. She was everywhere. The bungalow rooms worked very well for up to two adults and two children under 5.Comfortable beds, very good shower, air conditioning very quiet and efficient if required.3 restaurants in use during our stay. The main one was good for breakfast, we found the more Italian themed one with the sea view much better at lunchtime and the hotel restaurant courtyard the best in the evenings. The overall standard of food was very good. The Italian things best not surprisingly. We had 3 kids in our group in the kids clubs. The Mini Club seemed very well run. Especially given the number of children. The staff were very good, even as they didnt get to know the kids that well, and our children enjoyed the club. The main pool is quite superb. 30m lanes for adult swimming and a massive shallow section for the kids. The beach is also very good.I didnt try too many sports, the quad bikes were quite an expensive extra but well worth it.The bar and apero area was great too. The only negative thing I can say about the place is that I had to wait about 10 minutes for a drink at the bar one day as staff werent controlling there sections of the bar properly. V minor though.Overall superb and very good value as well imo.
MoreIt a lovely resort with a wonderful staff we enjoyed every minute just a small thing that i think can be referbished is the bathroom thanks to everyone for the help at kamarina 😊😚
MoreThis resort is HUGE - like the size of a small town. Also very hilly and long stairs to the beach. If you have ANY mobility problems forget it. That said, it is also very good. Really good food must be mentioned first. Id say 95% of the guests are (unsurprisinglyFrench and they expect a certain quality which this place delivers. Also, as its club med the drinks are good quality too (as opposed to unbranded weird vodkas and wines you cant drink). Two pools, one immense where there is aquarobics, water polo, zorbing etc), one tiny (called the meditation poolwhere the music although constant, is 50s cool jazz and Sinatra as opposed to the huge pool where its thumping house music and last years charts (be warned...). The beaches (there are effectively twoare wide and sandy but its a serious hike to get to them. When you do there is a bar serving drinks, snacks and ice cream etc., Cleanliness around the resort is first class and the ratio of staff to guests is great. The view from the restaurant on the cliffs is amazing (especially at sunsetbut again, its a ten minute walk from the centre of the resort. Overall Id say great but our over-riding memory is that if you leave something at the pool and have to go back for it from your cabin allow half an hour ! Not good for old folks, no good (at allfor crutches or wheelchairs.
MoreFantastic family holiday. Amazing beach. Great range of activities. Friendly staff. Good food.
MoreFirst Impression through a phone call is unexpected....Impolite, arrogant......Planning to stop my vacation trip and getting refunded.Do you guys know about customer care?
MoreVery relaxing holiday! Good facilities, food and great staff! Perfect if travelling with children.
