Lapp's Quay, Centre, Cork, T12 RD6E, Ireland, Cork
Overlooking the River Lee, this modern hotel is 10 minutes' walk from the English Market and the Crawford Art Gallery, and a 15-minute walk from the Cork Butter Museum.Understated rooms feature flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Some rooms offer balconies with river views, and family rooms are available. Suites add separate living areas.Parking and full Irish breakfast are available for a surcharge. Dining options include a casual, contemporary Asian restaurant and an atrium lounge that serves light snacks; afternoon tea is also available. A fitness centre includes a heated indoor pool, a sauna and a steam room.
Check-in processes is great. Parking is in the public garage under the hotel and feels safe. They offer a discount rate for hotel. Room was clean and comfortable.
Unhelpful staff - front desk is useless and unaccommodating. You’d be better off staying somewhere cheaper where you don’t expect staff to help make your stay more enjoyable. Would not recommend - isn’t worth 5EUR
Parking cost €12 per night. Lots of homeless around the area. It is a central location for city Center or for a nice walk to the marina market
Hate to give it such a bad review because I imagine they are usually much better but had a terrible experience at the restaurant of the place.Started off well and the food was amazing but then the staff all suddenly disappeared. Had to go find someone to get dessert menus and then ask for our tables to be cleared multiple times. Eventually cancelled a drink because it was taking too long (only to see there was nobody at the bar when leaving). Then when we wanted to pay, they said their card machine wasn’t working at the moment and to write down my card details on a piece of paper. This is incredibly insecure, probably breaching data protection regulations and could lead to fraud if lost (which can easily happen when on a loose receipt paper). Refused and they added to the room but asking this of customers is unforgivable.Real shame as only staying one night and hoped for a better experience. Still not sure what happened to all the staff… could have been a very different experience.
Great hotel , amazing facilities and good location! Me and my partner felt very welcomed here in August 22, the staff were very friendly & accommodating! Shout out to front officer manager Debbie Martin , who went above and beyond by looking after us with some special touches for my partners birthday! :)Definitely coming back !
Very nice, clean, spacious hotel. Great lobby/common area for hanging out on some comfy couches. Rooms were large with easily accessible outlets. Beds were comfy too
Is a premium hotel and for what they charge/night (190€is absolutely unacceptable to have not properly clean toilets and stained carpets! On the frame of the window on the higher part you could see dust.On the upside staff is really helpful and friendly, breakfast is not bad and the location is great. Some of the forniture is old and you can tell (like the bed lamps). Also changing facilities of the gym needs proper cleaning. Some tiles where broken and they didnt fix it in a week.I wouldnt pay this much for a hotel that doesnt pay much attention to the cleaning...
I was in the lobby and refubrishing work was going on in the bar next to the lobby. I have mild autism and noises really bother me. Abbey one of the waitresses kindly offered me a space in the restaurant away from the lobby and helped me moved my stuff. I greatly appreciated her help and kindness. Thanks you.
We atend here on a Saturday morning for the Turtle Tots swimming class. Pool area is always clean with pool, whirlpool, dsauna and steam room all included. Shower facilities are clean and well kept and plenty of storage space. Lockers dont lock unless you bring your own lock
The hotel is located very close to the city center of Cork. It has big rooms with comfortable beds and it is very quiet and clean but a bit old fashioned. There are no amenities in the bathroom (something unusual for a 4 star hotel). The breakfast was very good.
Attended a wedding here. Nice venue. I have specific dietary requirements and found that it wasnt handled. I had no dessert only chips and small basic salad no dressing etc. for dinner. The meat eaters hated the beef, it was tough. Some had gravy other didnt. Wouldnt recommend for dinners but nice for visiting.
Nicest hotel we stayed at in Ireland. We had two different rooms and the quality between the two bed (betterand single bed were pretty significant.
I will choose here every time I go to Cork now. Exceptional service. Food a bit pricey though but plenty of restaurants around.
Lovely location just a 5 minute walk from town. The staff are great. The pool and amenities are lovely and would definitely come back if we are going to Cork again.
Rooms were very clean with nice view of the river. Very friendly staff in the Globe bar and at breakfast.
Beautiful view over the river and easily accessible from the train station - a 10 min. walk. Rooms have air conditioning - a big plus this August. Very clean. Easy check in and check out process. Nice bar area too!
Great location. Nice spacious rooms. Bathrooms could be refurbished. Old tiles didnt make a good impression. I also think that for the rates paid most times the hotel could afford smart 4k tvs. A few Irish channels, BBC and a few more. Not much to keep our 4 year old entertained. I could have used prime, disney+ or netflix on my phone if there was any way to connect to the tv. Sorry but 10 year old tv if not older doesnt suit a 4* hotel standard. And we spent most of the day travelling, visiting olaces around Cork. We were just hoping to relax a bit before bed. All 3 of us.Service was nice, no issues. One little grind - two mornings during breakfast we werent informed that other items could be ordered with the service, like pancakes and eggs. The info was only about porridge.Breakfast buffet better than in Maldron but still poor comparing with Clayton I work in.We didnt eat there as the prices seemed a bit too high. We went to a Mexican bar next door. Amazing. We used a swimming pool. Good, recommended.
Very good hotel..all staff members were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was great.
Waited 2hours to check in with three kids under 5. Check in said 3pm but staff insisted the rooms are "ready when theyre ready" that was 5pm for us.Car park is €12 each time you leave or over night so if you leave more than once a day you pay over and over.Great pool and room was nice. I think this would be better for couples without kids.Great location. Restaurant staff were very nice.
Lovely modern, clean, great value hotel, friendly staff, centrally located in city centre.
I’d like to recommend the Clayton Hotel Cork City Centre but I can’t. It’s a very attractive hotel in an excellent and convenient location — but the staff ruined not just one but two stays.I booked two nights one week apart. Both times I arrived at this attractive hotel they were were hosting large events and clearly didn’t have enough staff to manage the crowds. The lobby was a zoo.For my first stay I arrived at 1:30 pm. When I got to the front desk I said I knew I was there before check in time. The desk clerk said that it was fine and they had an apartment available. I asked if there was any reason not to take the apartment because I would have been glad to check my bags and come back later. The desk clerk said some people want a regular hotel room but there was no difference. What she failed to tell me was that the apartments were not air conditioned. Cork also broke a heat record that day. The weather was awful and it took three requests and six hours to get a fan brought to my room. The problem with this hotel isn’t the building or location — it’s just terribly understaffed. It’s hard to get anyone to help with anything, and frankly some staffers are harried and borderline rude. The breakfast restaurant is a perfect example. The food is good — not amazing but fine. But the hotel has signs up asking for reservations because it can’t handle the crowds. I felt the breakfast restaurant was loud and disorganized and it was impossible to get service for anything that wasn’t at the buffet. When I checked out I pointed out that it was given a room without air conditioning without my informed consent. And since I was returning in one week I hoped they would give me a nicer room. I was told no problem.I came back a week later. This time it was a wedding and tour group that created chaos for a short-staffed front desk. The room they gave me was jammed with beds (I was traveling aloneand was on the second floor with a view of the internal atrium facing the lobby. I could actually see titles of what people were reading — there was zero privacy if I let any light into the room.Adding to the misery — I prepaid both my stays but for one the hotel asked for my credit card for incidentals and charged me a second time for the same room. After an hour on the phone with my credit card company that still hasn’t been resolved.Bottom line — attractive hotel in a good location. Terribly understaffed leading to harried workers and poor service and sometimes even rudeness on the part of staff. Some rooms are clunkers. And the breakfast buffet wasn’t good enough to make up for the stress of the crowd and the poor service.Twice was enough — I won’t be returning.
Clayton Hotel is quite a nice hotel overall and I believe its been one of the best vacations Ive had since my life currently. The exterior and interior is pretty quiet and peaceful, giving the idea of the hotel from John Wick, at least as it was my impression. The given room service was pretty standard and when you place the "Please Clean my Room" sign and you go somewhere, you can expect it to be cleaned perfectly and everything else being back to what it was originally. The location is as well pretty nice considering that it was quite close to the center which had given myself and my family more to explore and see beautiful things. The room that we had bought was outstanding and it was one of the greatest and cleanest rooms to offer. It had 2 phones to be able to phone for the hotel service, it had 2 lamps with 2 mini lamps which allow you to perhaps study with. The bathroom had a safety mat to avoid slipping, 3 mirrors and a fully functional sink and on top of all that, our room also had a A/C and a safe in which you may store valuables in.
Lovely stay and excellent breakfast options for veggie/vegans (selection of alternative milks, specialist porridge options). No real room service options and it was to be collected so more like takeaway. Some rooms have no natural light. Staff were all very friendly but I would recommend upgrading the room if you can.
Extremely lovely staff, honestly 10 stars for the people, but nothing is easy there so if you want to relax or go offline -thats not the place. Swimming pool is used by the people from outside, you need to bloody sign in before with some qr code and book a slot, you need to buy a swim hat, you need to request a robe before separately from the reception to your room, you need your own lock and the staff isnt allowed to look after your phone, for the breakfast you need to book with the qr code too for a specific time and if you want to eat late in the evening then qr code again and then some of the foods on that qr arent available anyway 😅, the deluxe balcony supercool room had no chairs on the balcony and the balcony itself hasnt been cleaned in a long time; felt like a long list of to-dos which doesnt work whether youre busy working or trying to relax. But people were very very nice and would reccommend great eating places, best airport transfers etc etc! And the breakfast was great for everyone (dairy alternatives etc).
The staff were very helpful and polite nothing was an issue. The bar/lounge is very comfortable and a relaxing. I found overall the ambience in the hotel very relaxed would revisit again without a doubt.
We stayed on a Saturday night. Beautiful hotel. The bar left the hotel down badly. Service was on the poor side. But what annoyed me the most was plastic glasses in a four star hotel and take away cups for a cup of tea.
I needed a space to relax and reflect. The service was lovely, the food good. A lovely lounge and friendly staff
Very clean and comfortable hotel.staff were amazing especially Aisha. A great asset to the hotel.couldnt do enough for us.great location 5 minutes walk to shops.will be back to stay there in the future.
Lovely place, nice bar restaurant with a menu for all, hotel prices but professional, clean and pleasant, maybe table service in the bar would be nice...
Really nice hotel, room was Lovely and clean and the bed was very conformable. Not the best service at the bar and food was grand.Hotel is very central and would have no problem staying in it again.
Pleasant stay in the Clayton Hotel Cork City. Great location, close proximity to train station, and the city centre. Also not far off Musgrave Park so was handy for the concert we were going to. Although when the tide is out be prepared for an awful smell. Cant blame the hotel for that though, but the smell was coming through the windows in our room even when door was closed. Low stars for service because of awful pre authorization policy where I have been left charged more than double the cost of the room and cant get my money back for 5/6 working days. Also wouldnt recommend the pool, found it to be smelly and dirty. Overall pleasant stay. Room was very nice.
The food in restaurant is limited. Some of the dishes need a review as lack flavour particularly curry and pasta. The staff in earlier part of week were so welcoming and attentive. Staff in latter part of week when hotel was quieter need more training in my opinion.Breakfast was great and aside from alot of external noise at night the bedrooms are very comfortable
Check in could be managed betterSpacious & clean rooms, comfy bedDinner was good, service could be improved, the dinner inclusive menu definitely needs more choices at least for stay over guests.Breakfast is absolutely excellent, quality of the buffet is one of the best experienced in Ireland so far (Im a regular traveler), pastries look fresh and are delicous. Many options available.
Lovely atmosphere, well maintained with easy access straight into the city centre. Basement public parking below the hotel which makes it easy and accessible coming and going in the city.
The Best Hotel in Cork City. Rooms are neat and clean. Customer service is excellent. House keeping is quick. Breakfast is Good. The Rooms are Spacious. Its a 4 star hotel. There is Swimming pool and Spa. Swimming Pool access is free for Guests and Spa is paid. The Hotel is big with 210 rooms.
Just spent an amazing weekend with my sister and her three adult daughters. I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough. Reception staff were so helpful and friendly. Spa and swimming facilities gorgeous leaving us all feeling revitalised. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The rooms were clean, large and everyone did everything to make my sisters 60th weekend away very special. We will definitely be coming back.
Everything was good. Only the breakfast wasnt at the same high level quality: food on average quality, limited availability choice (only one type of croissant, little variety of sliced meats....).
Overall nice hotel, clean and centrally located. Staff is very friendly. I just wish they can switch things around a little bit for breakfast, maybe rotate hot food menu once a week or something.
Very good hotel, as it should be 4 star, portion in restaurant wasnt big, but maybe I was too hungry, air conditioning in rooms, and possibility open windows before sleep, to get some fresh air is priceless for me, many hotels in Ireland dont have this.
Great Hotel, one of the best I’ve stayed in, pillows amazing, bed clean and comfortable. Room service was finished while we were having breakfast. Staff are friendly and super professional and the hotel is in a really convenient location for pretty much anything in the city. Pool was very nice and went down a treat with my daughter
What can I say? Brilliant hotel, not far from the town centre. Modern and beautiful interiors. Lovely staff. Swimming pool was amazing and the jacuzzi. Shower in our room was brilliant ( must say best bitand it was lovely room temperature although got a little warm during the night. However overall best hotel I’ve stayed in!
This hotel cant be rated as 4 star hotel !Homeless people sheltering around hotel 24/7, Room 402 number of large stains on the carpet, No bath or shower in the bedroom, only shower for disabled people, would like manager to explain why bedroom with disabled shower was allocated to us ?Hanging Balls in the center of hotel probably was never cleaned since installed,Hotel needs revamp !Leisure Centre shared with locals, locker room untied, showers no soap shampoo exactaSwimming pool, sauna, steam room good if not busy, no outside light to area only artificial lightingFood Excellent10/10
It was ok to stay for a night but I wouldnt stay for longer. Excellent location but hotel needs an upgrade. Carpets were filthy, mattress very uncomfortable. Delicious food in restaurant but toilets downstairs were in disgrace state. It looked it wasnt clean for a week at least. Staff helpful and friendly.
Our stay was short but very nice ,we stay there every time we visit Cork . We have stayed there regularly for the last number of years and love the hotel the staff and the location is great ,easy walk to bars restraunts and shops and we are looking forward to our next visit allready.5 stars everytime thanks.
Very good experience in this classy hotel in an excellent location. Staff helpful, room lovely and bed super comfortable. Breakfast fine, the usual choices on offer.
Bar staff need to be trained properly with customer service skills. Supposely Not serving non residents ( my brother but other non residents being served. (my husband).Bring serviced and paying top price for a latte only to be given a cocktail of cold milk mixed with some coffee and syrup. To me it looks like a crew of trainee bar staff with no supervision working on a Sunday for such a hotel is very unusual. I hate to see if it was busy and it was very quiet for a match Sunday. Maybe trying to turn away non residents is a bad idea.
My wife & I stayed at your hotel. The location & parking very great. However we did have an unpleasant stay. The temperature in the room was far too warm to be able to sleep. This was the case even with the AC turned on at its coldest setting. We were unable to sleep & got up at 5am & left the hotel. Obviously we are very disappointed with our stay as a result.I wanted to let you know this as hopefully you can do something to improve this for other guests.
Nice modern hotel in the middle of Cork City, just a walk from both the main bus station and train station. Plus if youre driving it has car park space. Easy to get to and once youre there its beautiful. The rooms are very tidy and the style is modern. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast is self service (except tea/coffee and most egg variations except scrambled), but it still delicious with food choice ranging from Irish breakfast to fruits to cereals and pastries. I really loved my stay here and if youre looking for a hotel in Cork thats well connected this is a great place.
I was really impressed with the staff at this hotel. The rooms looked new and clean, the pool area and steam room was nice (make sure you book). The staff were really amazing. It felt like 5 star service. They had no shortage of staff at their restaurant or bars unlike every other hotel at the moment.A few little great experiences I had with staff. They walked me to show me where things were in the hotel rather than pointed. The were able to change my room because of a problem I had and not due to them, even though it was a busy weekend.Thank you for a great stay, I will recommend you hotel.
Ive never stayed here, but Ive dined here and attended a number of meetings / conferences. In an excellent location close to the city centre but easily accessible from the Dublin Rd or the South Ring Rd. Nice selection of meeting rooms of various sizes. Extensive Bar / Restaurant menu. All of my menu choices were very tasty. I will definitely be returning!
