Nice clean rooms with friendly staff and very good breakfast with lots of choice.Up graded the car park since the last time I was there and it always had spaces. If no spaces they provide you with a parking voucher for the surrounding area for a deposit of £10.
Stayed in twin room with partial sea view. Room exceptionally clean, beds comfortable, great shower. Couldnt ask for more.Breakfast great choice from cereals to cooked breakfast, and tasty. Our family has stayed at The Claxton several times and would recommend.
Stayed in one of the rooms accessed directly from the back of the hotel. Perfect with a dog for being able to access straight outside. Room was spacious & very clean. The staff were so friendly & helpful. Breakfast was very tasty (& they even offered a sausage for our dog). Good location for Redcar & the surrounding areas. Would happily stay here again.
Lovely Hotel, real homely feel and excellent breakfast.
Usually go to the races in September, never actually stopped in Redcar before. Got a late booking for the Claxton, so glad we did. Staff very friendly, room was very clean especially the bathroom. The breakfast can only be descibed as magnificent. Only downside, as were not pet people,,was the number of dogs present. I always say on these reviews, ask myself "would i stop again" and the answer is yes.
Stayed here a few years back and it was excellent then and its excellent now.Room was lovely and clean and everything worked as it should. Double bed was two 3ft singles shoved together . Loads of room and very comfy.Excellent breakfast and lots of it.Lovely staff and the girl who serves breakfast will cheer up the most miserable person, never know someone so bubbly. 😁Will be back next year for the same Redcar raceday. 🏇
Clean and comfortable, great value for money, excellent location. Staff very pleasant and helpful, the small breakfast was as big as a standard one Ive had elsewhere and delicious. Even my dog Poppy got her own sausage.
Beautiful hotel. The standard of cleanliness was outstanding, as was the staff and service. I would definitely recommend 👌
Warm welcome. informative and very friendly staff. The room and bathroom well equipped 😀😀😀😀🤩
Just back from staying at this lovely hotel. Very clean, very helpful and friendly staff. Stayed in rooms 25 and 28. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
This is a really nice hotel with friendly staff and really good food. Rooms were clean and serviced each day. Location is also great, right opposite the sea. Would definitely stay again.
Fantastic Hotel in a fantastic place (Redcarfirst ever visit but wont be the last!
Great little hotel right on the front with seaview rooms upstairs if u want .we stayed on the ground floor due to disability issues but easy walking to the dinning room .room 28 has a lovely walk in shower with a small lip to step over great breakfast and we even took our 2 jack russels staff really nice and very good value for money ,dont expect the Ritz but a lovely family run hotel 🤣🤣🤣
Really enjoyed our stay here. Great location, nice sea views and a fantastic breakfast. Pleasant surroundings but Let down a bit by the room being dated and a very very noisy bathroom fan. Otherwise everything else was good. I Would recommend a stay here anytime. The Staff made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much to ask for, also free off street parking available but it is first come first served as it is limited to only 5 or 6 spaces. I will use this hotel again the next time I am in the area.
Staff absolutely amazing couldn’t do enough for you. Rooms spotless, breakfast really nice.. even a sausage for our dog. If your looking for a dog friendly hotel in a great beach front location at a good price.. I would highly recommend. Will definitely be back.
Clean comfortable good food helpful friendly staff we enjoyed our stay will recommend to others and will be back especially as they like dogs
The hotel is well located, staff are very friendly. Our room was on the ground floor close to the back entrance, so the windows were opaque for privacy. It was a clean, comfortable double with ensure bathroom. There was only 1 bedside cabinet and 1 pillow each. (Im sure if wed have asked we could have had an extraThere were plenty of drawers and hanging space. The bathroom had a lovely walk in shower, perhaps a non-slip mat would have been useful.Breakfast is served from 7am to 9am even at the weekend. It was good quality with a wide choice. There is a small car park at the rear but we were also told about Fishermans Square which is free at the weekend. The hotel is a few steps away from the beach with a lovely clean esplanade to walk along.
Really good hotel with an excellent breakfast and great with dogs, they even get a sausage at breakfast!
Staff very friendly and helpful. Room lovely and clean and the breakfast was great, really enjoyed it, thank you,

Second stay at Claxton Hotel. Stayed in one of the new rooms ( coatham can highly recommend everything excellent. Also top marks for Hop & Grape, Ritas Pantry and the new cocktail bar next door Bonkers. Thats the name, all dog friendly and welcoming. Will be back.
Good bed, clean rooms and full breakfast plus step outside and youre almost on the beach x
Everything perfect! Owners and staff so helpful and pleasant! Always enjoy my stay there!
The room was clean and spacious with lovely sea views. The staff made me very welcome and happily went the extra mile. I made two requests which were dealt with immediately. The food was tasty, well presented (with a smileand amply portioned. I would definitely stay at the Clayton again.
This hotel is Amazing value for money and dog friendly. We had the Zetland room simply beautiful and immaculately clean. The breakfast was divine and the dog had a sausage to. Lovely friendly staff we honestly couldnt fault and well be back. X
Staff not very welcoming,no hot water in room and shower not working, nobody even said morning when we went down for breakfast, and nobody around when we left, and could not get a space to park, and also dog barking in next room, would not visit again.
Lovely stay breakfast was great staff very attentive the room we had had a sea view very nice comfy bed and the en suite bathroom was really nice will be back two very happy stayers
Our stay at the hotel was a pleasure the staff were very friendly the room was comfortable the breakfast was lovely, we did have a problem with another guest but a member of staff brought it to the managers attention and she dealt with it in minutes will be coming back soon for another stay ,could not fault it .
Room was not clean razor in bathroom staff where not welcomeing at all Room was tiny for price. Unacceptable behaviour from the staff. Very unwelcome. Snotty attitude.Would definitely not recommend.
Stayed recently as part of a group of twelve prior to attending the local races. Perfect seafront location close to everything. Spacious and spotless rooms, first class breakfast, very reasonable bar prices whats not to like. A special mention to the excellent staff who were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again, highly recommended.
We stayed at The Claxton for 5 nights in room 8. We had a walk in shower which we had requested. The view of the sea was amazing. The room was new and modern. Bathroom good. Excellent shower. The breakfasts were very good. Cereals, then a full cooked breakfast made to order. The evening meals were great too. All the staff were fantastic, very friendly, helpful .Overall we had an excellent stay in Redcar and The Claxton made it extremely enjoyable. We would definitly stay there again. Thank you.
Staff very friendly and can’t do enough for you. Food is excellent and very well priced. We were given a room with a sea view which I wasn’t expecting and watched the sun going down from our beds! The bed was enormous which served us well as it was a very hot w/e so plenty of space. Shower hot with plenty of toiletries. My sister in laws dog even got sausages at breakfast. We all had a lovely time and will certainly be back again. Thank you
Comfortable room side sea view, Hotel newly refurbished, everything was clean and tidy, staff where friendly and attentative. One of the best breakfasts. Overall would highly recommend staying at the Claxton if you travelling to redcar. 👍
Really great hotel in a good position for the beach and shops. We had a ground floor room as requested which was very clean and comfortable. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. Parking was limited but we managed to find a space each day. Breakfast was part self service (toast, cereal and drinksbut was well organised so not a hassle and cooked breakfasts were ample and tasty. On the first evening we chose to eat in to save us finding somewhere else. We were so impressed by the choice of bar meals and service that we ended up eating there on all three evenings. Only one small negative was that it would be helpful to have a stool or small chair near the hairdryer and mirror.Overall couldn’t fault and will definitely recommend!
The staff was very plesent and friendly we stayed B&B and the food was very nice Drink in the evening bar was excellent prices. If one criticism was to be made it would have to be the breakfast table layout for a 5 star I would have preferred a table cloth with layout of cups plates and cutlery. But that to me is no bother Zwe still had a wonderful stay and will do it again
We arrived to very friendly ,pleasant staff and most helpful !!Our room was spotless and the views are just stunning !Can lie in bed and just look out to the sea .The sunrise and sun sets are amazing !Jacuzzi bath and tea coffee making facilitiesBreakfast lovely and no no grease !Nice freshly cooked !Comfy bed .Would definitely recommend this lovely family owned hotel !!We will definitely be back soon !
A great place to explore the area. The superior room had a view of the sea. Dog friendly too which meant we could take a stroll on the beach at sunrise.
A lovely hotel right on the seafront. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. I had a lovely room with a see view. It was spotlessly clean and had a hot drinks station, hairdryer and tv. The en-suite had a good size shower and shower gel and shampoo was included. The breakfasts have been fabulous. I’m vegetarian and was very well catered for. All in all it was an enjoyable and very reasonably priced stay. I would highly recommend the Claxton hotel and will definitely book again when I’m this way again.
Nice bright room that was well serviced. We booked a slightly more expensive room to get a sea view and whirlpool bath. Well worth the extra cost when youve been done lots of walking. No need for a TV (although there was one with Freeviewwhen you can lie in bed watching the waves rolling in and the sunrise/sunset from the picture window. Very filling breakfast, nothing too much trouble even cooked a sausage for our dog each morning. Staff very welcoming & friendly 😊 Would definitely stay again.
Fabulous Hotel with absolutely fantastic staff. So friendly and helpful...nothing was a problem. The room was huge with a gorgeous view of the sea. It was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Would definitely be back the next time were in the area and would certainly recommend ⭐⭐⭐
A very nice place indeed, clean, large rooms , comfortable and nothing is a bother. Staff have all been very friendly and are always willing to help with a smile. Breakfast was lovely but they also provide evening meals in the lounge or in your room, there is also a full bar which is quite well stocked. Will stay here again without a doubt
Went to the hotel after never been to redcar, couldnt fault it clean rooms perfect sea views and most of all I was highly impressed with how clean this was and the little extras checking if you need towels toilet toll each day. Me and my partner would recommend
Absolutely fantastic hotel lovely friendly staff. Would definately reccomend stopping here right on the beach quite near the strip of shops if needed. Imacculately clean rooms and plenty of parking
Lovely little place. Requested a sea view as it and got a beautiful view from my room. It was a memorial weekend, so looking over the sea is very therapeutic. It was Dog friendly too. My dog loved sitting on the window sill looking at the beach. Its was Clean tidy, staff were friendly. Was given a permit to park and managed to park outside the front door. Brekkie was great, plenty of it. And the dog got a sausage too. Defo recommend a stay here. YouWe will defo be back. Thank you 🙏🏼
Very friendly owner and staff who were all welcoming and helpful .Lovely decor and spotlessly clean, and our room was a very good size. We had everything we needed, tea & coffee, hairdryer etc. Parking was an added bonus for a seaside locationThe breakfast was amazing , quality ingredients cooked to perfection. We have already booked to go back for a longer stay in March.
Lovely homely small Hotel, very friendly staff, been staying now for many years and could not want for more. 1 min from Beach/Promenade, shops etc, very good breakfast, anything not too much trouble.Suggest you give them a try !
We were made very welcome, and were pleasantly surprised by the room - it was a basic room but had a lovely sea view (warning - not all do!). A comfy night, and great breakfast followed by a quick walk on the prom before checking out.
Took a group of golfers overnight...Very basic facilities & room I had was very compact, but everything worked fine & it was reasonably comfortable. Parking could be awkward due to v small car park at rear, but theres other options. The staff were very friendly, the place was very clean & breakfast was good.Given the price it was great value for money.
We had a 2 night stay , we booked a sea view room and was not disappointed. The staff was so polite and could not do enough for you . Breakfast was amazing itset you up for the day. Definitely will return . Keep up the good work excellent hotel .
The hotel was very clean. The hotel itself was quite ‘old fashioned’ (definitely not a negative thing as it was very well kept), the rooms were very modern and spotless. The staff are helpful and go out of their way for you, even offering to book us a taxi! Breakfast was nice and served quickly. Both checking in and checking out was quick, which is a massive bonus. I would definitely stay here again!
