Museum showcasing the history of the Israeli navy, with a variety of decommissioned vessels.
What a great capture of our immigration and naval history. Brought tears to my eyes!
Very interesting. Heart-touching history of European Jewish immigration to Israel. A lot of exciting navy ships and a submarine. You can also enter several ships and submarine as well.
Really enjoyed it with our kids
Very interesting. Nice for children
One of the largest outdoor exhibits was closed for our visit, I was disappointed to miss a large part of the immigration content. The boats that were accessible were neat (super hot in the summer though). Very interesting information on how the Navy was started, cool artifacts and models to see inside, an excellent history video to pull the Museums name together so it makes sense. My kids 5, 7, and 9 really enjoyed.
The museum in its current curration and situation SHOULD NOT EXIST.Its very purely curated. The indoors part is tiny, gives not clear indication of the purpose of the juseum, its not organized in any specific, just some ship models scattered around, some with very basic info some without, there are couple of short tests here and around. The outdoor part has lots of retired small boats and 2 vessels that you can go into, that was one of the only things that the museum has to offer thats worth sseing, but again, dont expect to any information. If you know nothing about ships, it wont change after your visit.
Very impressive display of Navy crafts - submarine and other ships. Also a lot of various kinds arms - missiles, guns etc.
Short history of Israeli navy and immigrants to Israel.
Lots of fun. Highly recommended!
Great museum. Interesting and informative with outstanding ealk through ships as well as a sub.
Bc of Covid you make an appointment and get a private family tour!
Third time in this place. Like the warships and submarine there are. So fun to come with children. Advise to visit this place!
Fascinating place with excellent videos (in English as well as Hebrewtelling the story of those who tried to come to pre-state Palestine and were captured and detained while doing so. The Naval Museum is also a nice little museum with amazing ship models and informative displays about the Israeli navy. You can even board a real de-commissioned submarine which was in use until the early 00s.
During Corona days one should make a reservation to visit. Personnel very helpful, thanks. Cute museum with cool machinery. 60 mins visit, max.
Visited the museum today. Excellent COVID safety practice made us feel safe. Informative well presented videos. Huge collection of naval equipment as well as a good historical layout of Israel’s naval battles
In the years 2013-2014 I have photographed in the Clandestine immigration and Naval Museum as part of my then ongoing research project: Museutopia- Military museums in Israel. The project was exhibited in 2015 at the Israeli Centre for Digital Art in Holon. You can find the documentation of the exhibtion in the albums.
This museum tells the story of the Haapala, the clandestine immigration to the mandate of Palestine during the 1930s and 1940s, and the history of the Israeli navy. There are several ships on display, including an Israeli patrol boat, INS Mivtach, and the submarine INS Gal. The most interesting exhibit, however, is, in this reviewers opinion, the Af Al Pi Chen ("Nevertheless" or "Despite it all"), a former British Tank Landing Craft (TLC, later called LSTrebuilt to carry immigrants. Its an amazing museum and well worth a visit.
Loved this museum so much, the videos were so informative, well done, and really captivating. All the exhibits had wonderful and through explanations. This isn’t just a museum, this is an experience. Also, bring a passport or some form of ID.
It is a fantastic museum. Accessable and you can see artillery and boats. The story comes alive with subtitled movies as well.
Fantastic place to visit if youre in Haifa
This place is awesome for children and adults. You can get into a real submarine and missile ship here. Highly recommended.
A very important Piece of the history of Israel , very interesting exhibits, but it doesn’t hit it with kids (8-9the museum itself is very outdated and in need of a serious revamp, inside the sub and the ship halls was VERY HOT ,no air con ,It is not clear at all the paths, not good for baby strollers or wheelchairs..seems to have a lot of potential ,but again it doesn’t hit the spot..Btw when I go with my kids on a historical submarine , I don’t want to see a bloody mop and a spray bleach bottle in the cabin😐😐😐
Small but well-arranged museum. The main body is a naval vessel surrounded by halls. If you are interested in the history of Jewish (illegalimmigration in the early 20th century, this is a good place to know. All the exhibits are related to historical events, which shows the Jewish strong will in immigration to this land. There is a submarine visitors can go inside.
Very nice assortment of Israeli navy history and ships
History about first illegal immigrants to Israel after the Second World War. Shows how hard it was to make Aliyah back then.
This museum is actually one of the most interesting that Ive been to in the country. There is an indoor section with short videos. Outside there are ships and a submarine that you can enter and explore. Highly recommend visiting. Parking is not available easily.
Very nice and informative with some impressive genuine ships. Service is a bit clunky, and the place could be cleaned for a better atmosphere.
You get to go inside the boats and submarine, they show you 3 videos, and even had a live speaker.
Very good place to learn more about the early israeli navy and immigration history.Good info videos on the tour from holocaust survivors immigrating to Israel
You need to visit this museum its very interesting
For naval lovers, great place to see. Special for children that can go inside a real submarine.
You can just take the train to Haifa and fill a whole day with excitements. The first one could be the Ha’apala and Navy Museum just by the Bat-Galim train station. It’s a wonderful museum for adults and kids that tells the story of the marine vessels in the service of Israel and the Zionist movement. It allows you to get inside a ship and a submarine and feel the intense power of these machines.
Impressive collection of vessels. Kids aged 6-9 really enjoyed our visit.Parking and entrance to the museum are not well signed.
Bear in mind -- this is not a navy museum but a haapala museum. It talks about the first ships arriving to Israel before the country was officially founded. Although most of the narratives and stories have been translated to English we found it to be too fast and hard to follow. Nevertheless it was quite interesting and generally a good experience.
Neat, compact-size museum that is a lot of fun. The walkthroughs of the submarine and the missile boat are the definite highlights and should not be missed. The combination with immigration history is fitting for the museum. The shaded picnic area right in the middle of it is also beautiful (would be even better with a small cafeteria).
Great museum with boats, a submarine, and naval history. The exhibit about the clandestine immigration is good and very touching. Good for adults and kids.
Amazing place where true history of juish longing for their native land represented through subjects, documents, photos, and documental films. It was very exciting and important to know.
Really beautiful and powerful Museum!
Great place to learn about Israels history through cool exhibitions . Recently renovated . Welcoming staff, very educational, highly recommended.
Actually pretty sad and run down although it has a lot of potential. Its a shame there isnt more there about the Exodus. Nothing in English. I brought my family (my grandfather was in the crewand there werent that many pictures and no movie with English.
The museum underwent a major we recently and they really upped the Haapalah part. Otherwise its a pretty cool place, although not especially thorough in its representation of the Navy today.
Very old fashioned. They take only cash payments. Displays werent updated for many years.
Great museum for kids and adults (after recent renovation).Well organized, good explanations about different times in Israel history. You can visit a "real" old warship and submarine.
Great museum telling the story of how Jews arrived to Israel on ships after ww2.
Our best museum experience in Israel. The first museum we had to drag the children out of. The loved walking through the submarine and frigate. Not huge as mentioned but we still managed 2 hours there and could have done another one except for previous arrangements. Not expensive and excellent value for money. Remember to bring your passport (possibly other ID may suffice)
Interesting and informative museum. Not the largest, but many authentic and historic artifacts are on display. The audio-visual display is modern, with great production values and incorporates old video footage very well.
Nice museum. But was really hot inside the old planes.
Great museum to visit. But sadly they didnt accept any credit cards.
A wonderful little museum, with plenty of exhibits.Grown dramatically in the previous years with the addition of a missile boat, and a submarine!Currently in renovations although the yard is open.
Its temporarily closed. No expected reopening date. Theres a sign on the door that reads, "Museum is undergoing renovation, only open to groups, call ahead to make reservations."
