Description
Attended Sunday October 2022 early afternoon for buffet dinner. Poor service. Food not overly hot. No Staff around. No clear signs of what was available on the buffet. Problems even with coffees. Wouldnt recommend
MoreVery bad costumer service. I pay lot money and they gave me room in very bad condition. I can’t sleep very noisy. I complain about that. And. They told me you have to wait till tomorrow when the manager come morning. But i can’t sleep all the night. The room number 102. First floor. they have behind the wall big machine our I don’t know what. But is to noisy. Is impossible to sleep. 😡😡😡😡😡. Just stay away from this hotel. Is very bad. Lost money only we come me and my girlfriend to relax. But we can’t sleep all the night about the noise.
MoreWent in for light lunch with my friend and was looked after by a lovely lady called Gina. Food was excellent and Gina was attentive to us and all customers. Service fast and top class , exactly what we required.
MoreBar service very bad.Function room beer very warm, no effort to rectify the problem, plenty of complaints, had to use the main bar to get a proper cold beer.Waiting staff cleared a lot of drinks while people dancing or using the toilet or generally mingling with other guests. When I engaged with staff about this matter I was told because no one was sitting at the table, it a given that the table was to be cleaned. This for the record was while the bar was still open. Some, not all drinks were replaced. Think staff need training or retraining on these basic bar skills. A nice average hotel, food okay, rooms clean, perhaps a course in customer service would help. Guests are paying good money for hotels. It would be nice to value your guests.
MoreWife and myself never stayed overnight, however, we called in for lunch one day on our journey home to monaghan from the airport. We both opted for the fish & chips with side salad, it was very disappointing, especially considering it was the best part of €20 each. Very thin, dryed up chips, I can only assume the whole meal was reheated considering the meal was delivered to table within 3/4 minutes of ordering it. Salad couldnt really be called a salad as there was no onions, tomatoes etc. Wont be back
MoreBright and airy hotel. Lovely staff. Very helpful. One small blip, veg soup tasted burned? Will definitely be back.
MoreI have stayed in this hotel before and ate in the restaurant but this review is solely based on the treatment we received this evening. Never in my whole life of being served have I ever been treated so disrespectfully. I couldn’t confirm her name but the lady in the black waist coat treated myself and my teammates like absolute dirt. We had returned from a sporting event and were chatting at our tables.. as any team would do. However, on a number of occasions the lady in the waist coat came over to tell us that we had made numerous other customers leave.. which I confirmed with the reception staff at the hotel, was absolute nonsense. I have never felt so horribly treated in my life and myself and the others at our table could genuinely not believe the treatment we received. I am so disappointed at tonight’s events.
MoreThe staff are absolutely fab especially Carl who was our waiter last night could not do enough for us hes an asset to the hotel 😊 food beautiful in the restaurant, rooms spotless aswell
MoreWe attended a wedding on 6th of August... although we had a wonderful day with family and friends we hadnt seen in a long time credit cannot be given to hotel. From when we arrived at hotel trying to get a drink at the bar was a joke. At least ten minute wait and heineken being served in a guiness glass is not good at all .. young staff walking around in a dazenot very helpful at all... food was absolutely terrible and the service was slow and chaotic. Would definitely not recommend this hotel to any family or friends in future. rooms were like saunas , management really need to get older trained staff and sort out there kitchen.
MoreAll I can say for this place is wow wow wow. An absolutely beautiful hotel, with even nicer food and fantastic staff. Staff from every area in the hotel are second to none and i must say they were the nicest staff in a hotel Ive ever come across. The manager Joseph went above and beyond for us after a small issue with the rooms 📺. The way in which it was handled was fantastic so i wouldnt even consider removed a star for this.Only a half hour away from Tayto park with it being a very straight forward journey. No pool but it didnt even matter. Kids had a kids cinema twice a night which was fantastic. They had a ball. Overall absolutely amazing hotel and i highly recommend. A kids park onside is also there for them to play away and a petrol garage about 100 meters from front door of hotel. Highly recommend.
MoreOn July 8th at 12:55pm I phoned to make an Afrernoon Tea reservation. I got through to the Tara Lounge and asked to be booked in for Afternoon Tea on Saturday 16th of July at 2:30pm for 6 people for a surprise baby shower. The lady on the phone took my name and the above details and confirmed the booking. On July 14th at 12:06pm I phoned the Tara Lounge again to add some dietary requirements to my reservation. The lady took my name and dietary requirements, no further questions were asked. On Saturday 16th we arrived approx 15 minutes before the reservation so the ladies could get set up inside while I waited for the Mum to be outside. After a couple of minutes I got a phone call to go in because the booking couldnt be found. The lady at reception asked for a booking reference - I wasnt given one.She said the booking would have been made with my card details - It wasnt. She told me there was never any booking made. I assured her there was and I made no mistake with what hotel I phone because I had to call back with dietary requirements. After this she told me that you do not offer afternoon tea (even though its advertised clearly on your website), and If I did call the Tara Lounge I was wrong to because I should have contacted events..She then left us to see if she could find someone who maybe took the booking. While she was gone a lovely young lady came and asked did I make a booking for Afternoon Tea, I told her I did and she explained that she took the booking because she was unaware you didnt offer Afternoon Tea anymore and she forgot to take my number so couldnt ring me back to let me know. She was very apologetic and I appreciate her owning her mistake because if she hadnt, I was more or less being called a liar by the lady at reception as she refused to acknowledge up to this point that I did make the booking. After this, the receptionist returned and ushered the young girl back to work.I asked the receptionist what can she do for us because the Mum to be would be arriving any minute and it was already embarrassing that we wouldnt be having the Afternoon Tea she thought she was meeting me for.She told me there was carvery being served and we could get that. There wasnt a hope in hell I was having that when we had arrived thinking we would be having a lovely Afternoon Tea.I asked is there really nothing else she could do, even sandwiches, some little deserts or something. She said she could get cookies and tea/coffee or chicken goujons.I was insulted that she even suggested that! It wasnt a childrens party. With that I told her I would try to get somewhere else because carvery or chicken goujons was not going to work for a baby shower. The Mum to be arrived, surprised and even more surprised that we had to leave again. Very embarrassing! We phoned Kettles Hotel and in half an hour they had set up and area for us and we had beautiful food and exceptional service.Ive never been let down like this before or, from working closely to the events industry heard of such unprofessionalism.I cant understand how the 2 staff members I spoke to on the phone didnt know you dont offer Afternoon Tea.I cant understand that when it was realised I couldnt be contacted to inform me there is no Afternoon Tea, nothing was put in place knowing 6 people were going to arrive at 2:30pm on Saturday 16th expecting Afternoon Tea.I cant express the true disappointment and embarrassment of this whole situation. It should have never happened.I did email the hotel with the above and got a very unsatisfactory response. I left my phone number and expected at least a phone call from the GM or events coordinator. As of today Afternoon Tea is still advertised on the website. I wouldnt recommend City North Hotel to anyone.
MoreMyself and my family organised a surprise baby shower with Afternoon Tea here last week and to say we were disappointed is a huge understatement. When we arrived we approached the reception and told them we had a booking for Afternoon Tea. The receptionist asked for a booking reference, the family member who made the booking hadnt been given one. The receptionist asked what credit card was used to make the booking. No credit card details had been requested. She asked who our family member had spoken to but she hadnt felt it necessary to ask for a name when the booking was taken. The receptionist said there was no booking and they dont offer Afternoon Tea in that hotel. We told her that its well advertised on their website, to which she replied it shouldnt be there "we had to stop doing them as they werent up to standard". We explained that there had been the first call and then a subsequent call to talk about dietary requirements and neither staff member said there would be any problem. We asked if we could have tea and sandwiches and maybe scones or dessert but she said the kitchen was too busy but we could have a carvery dinner. We told her that wasnt the kind of vibe we wanted for a surprise baby shower and the Mum To Be was on her way. After further conversation another member of staff approached and said she had taken the booking unaware that the service wasnt available. To cut a very long story short we had to make numerous phonecalls to various hotels looking for somewhere to take us for lunch. Im glad to say an extremely helpful hotel felt sorry for us and set up a lovely area for us to take the Mum To Be.I emailed my complaint to the hotel but seem to have been ignored. I wanted to know why they couldnt have sorted some kind of alternative to offer us before we got there instead of turning us away. It was an occasion that cannot be postponed to a later date and with one of the family members living a considerable distance away its hard enough to gather everyone together.A very poor effort to help us at all and then to not even reply to my email is so extremely unprofessional and doesnt reflect well on this hotel for service
MoreWe held an Irish Dance World party here in the ballroom. . The staff were so incredible...nothing was a problem. The bedrooms were lovely...food was great. Would highly recommend this hotel
MoreFood was great. Prices of drinks fair.Welcome and service at reception fantastic. Printed us our boarding passes.Rooms big, windows can be opened. Check out at 12 is great too.I ordered room service. Got great burger with fries. 5 Euro surcharge is OK. But my tray and those of the wedding suite stayed until next morning outside in aisle. No staff was checking on sixth floor. No more airport shuttle!! Costs us 50 Euros extra the cab one way to the airport on Sunday.Know they do NOT offer or sell adaptors for Europeans at reception. No computers for your trip to check emails. They send you to the nearby station. They do not fit due to wrong USB.Avoid weekends. Too loud due to big weddings and music until early morning. The location is Gormanton, North of Dublin.Good to visit Tara, Newgrange grave, Navan, The ancient South East of Dublin. We can recommend this hotel. Enough staff. All helpful with a smile. Thank you, Sarah!
MoreWent for Sunday lunch with a group of family and friends and found that all the staff in the restaurant area were very unpleasant and intrusive. Each time a staff member walked past our table they stared at us whilst we were trying to enjoy our meal. When we were finished our meals and staff were taking away plates they just appeared and took the plates and cutlery without asking us if we finished or otherwise. I would not recommend the restaurant to others and certainly will not being going again myself.
