You get fabulous views of the old town from its walls ,and if you are a Game Of Thrones fan then all the better for you .We are and we loved spotting some of the film locations .Some of the steps are pretty steep ,so lets be careful up there ,people .There are a few pit stops along the way for refreshments, just dont get too refreshed .Some fabulous sunsets are on offer if you are lucky enough to catch one .Buy a one day Dubrovnik pass which will get you entry to the wall and a few of the museums in the old town as well as public transport for 24 hours. Not a bad purchase as wall entry price is the same price. So if in Dubrovnik its a must ,you wont regret it .

I noticed the wall when driving by. It looked epic and I had to visit it. I was very surprised that this is the second longest stone wall in Europe (5.5km), after Hadrian’s Wall (117kmbut I’ve never heard about it before.I decided to walk all the way from Ston to Mali Ston and back again. The views are worth it. 👌 The ticket is 9 € which is a reasonable price for walking up and down for a whole day if you wish to. I would recommend to have a bottle of water with you, wear comfortable sneakers (I saw a lot of people strugling to walk in flip flops and sandalsand some hat (for sun protection). Sun screen is also a good idea since it can be very sunny.

Interesting, nice views over the city. Did not took long way to small Stona as we were short in time. Possibly if all way - much better. Miss information about history despite there were some free walls at entrances. Castle in city included in price.

The city wall is a very nice attraction that worth the effort to climb its almost 250m tonnes the view of the Salines and the rest of the city. Our imagination goes to whom built that fortress centuries ago. Enjoy 😉

The wall walk was worth the entrance fee - its worth mentioning we got discounted entrance fee with the Dubrovnik pass. The views of Ston and the wider area were impressive and the walk is surprisingly easy!

Wall of Ston and Mali Ston. If you are near Klek or Dubrovnik, then this place is a must visit. Beautiful view from top and sense of achievement when you complete the trail. It is tiring, better choose a day when the weather is in favor and do this early morning. In summer months,as the day gets hotter the journey gets tougher! No washrooms or shops on the way. Carry waterbottles, hat, sunglasses and enjoy the trek!

Not as famous as other Croatian attractions but definitely worth seeing.I personally recommend Route from Ston to Mali Ston. Very picturesque! But be aware! Climbing up the wall is quite demanding especially in high season when temperatures exceed 40°C. Make sure to take water and a head cover! Otherwise go in the evening or early morning:)

Walls of Ston, built in 15th century, are a magnificient piece of history. Climbing on them is an amazing experience. The longer route from Ston to Mali Ston is about 1.3 km long and you have to be in a solid shape beacuse some parts are pretty steep (dont worry, its safe). But, its totally worth it. From the highest point you can see the city of Ston, Ston salt pans and beautiful surrounding landscape. Also, the tickets are affordable (70 kuna if you are 18 or older, 30 kuna otherwise).Enjoy ;)

Some travel to China to see a big wall but forget to visit Ston in their lifetime! what a huge mistake because what you see here is so amazing so unreal, it is definitely a hidden gem. The whole wall construction to help Dubrovnik to protect the salt production is a must-do walk! One of the most interesting things you can do in Croatia, definitely a top 10 attraction!

Wow, forget the crowded city walls of Dubrovnik and come here! Absolutely gorgeous walk on these vast city walls dotted by forts and full of medieval feel, connecting the two dreamy historical villages of Mali Ston and Ston. Stunning views on both villages from above, the sea bays and the salt pans. Just perfect and a good exercise as well. Stay overnight is highly recommended as well, fantastic oyster/seafood restaurants in Mali Ston.

Wish there was a bit more information about the entrance. We parked in one of the entrance parking spots but it seemed closed. It turned out later that someone was at the closed gate but I guess they didnt just see us. Thankfully we did find the second entrance further away. There are 2 routes but neither go to the top. One of them goes from the inside, looking over the city and at the end you can continue on the longer trail but that just goes on the side of the mountain to the other side. It was a bit dissapointing that we couldnt go to the very top.Price is around 10€ per person but they dont accept euros and its written that they accept cash and credit cards but they told us that they dont accept credit cards either. The view was nice though and got a good workout from it as it was pretty intensive for the legs

The Walls of Ston Croatian: Stonske zidine are a series of defensive stone walls, originally more than 7 kilometres (4.3 milong, that surrounded and protected the city of Ston, in Dalmatia, part of the Republic of Ragusa, in what is now southern Croatia.Their construction was begun in 1358.On the Field Gate of the Walls (Poljska vratathere is a Latin inscription which dates from 1506. Today, it is one of the longest preserved fortification systems in the world. The Walls of Ston were known as the "European Great Wall of China".

I hope you like steps because there is plenty of them here! There is two trails.. the left which is the steeper of the two but this is closed and by the condition of the scaffolding it’s been closed for a lot of years and will continue to be closed for many years to come. The right is not as steep and you can walk along it no problem. You can’t walk up to the top of the hill as the path hasn’t been completed/repaired and I highly doubt it ever will.I found this all a bit boring if I’m honest. Nice views is the only positive I can think of.

5km wall full length, if you are in good condition, takes less than 45min from start to end with photos. Guard-rails thru out the walk so no danger. Cost 70kn and ticket includes castle visit.Note: the path to the top is under renovation so you can’t visit it.

Breathtaking views of Ston from these walls, the longest fortification wall in Europe (7km). The walls themselves are an invigorating hike, and you can see the salt flats that made Ston famous (and rich!from one side of the wall, and on the other side you can see the mussel and oyster farms sitting in the bay. There is so much to see in this quaint area, and the restaurants in the Old Town are fabulous, with seafood as an obvious choice on the menu. A must-see destination in Croatia! We were fortunate to visit here with @soulofcroatia and Robi was a fantastic guide!! Highly recommended!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I passed through this place on my way to Dubrovnik and had to stop to see this historical wonder. This is something that is not quite advertised, but should definitely be on your top list to visit. It is only less than 1hr far from Dubrovnik another wonderful and amazing historical wonder and beauty. So, if you are in the area or plan to be, dont think twice. This is the second longest wall after the Great wall of China and the longest wall in the Europe.

Stone walls are actually a long wall that connects Ston and Small Ston. The entrance is paid 70 kuna, maybe a bit too much. Basically, prepare to be in good condition because the climb is very steep, the entire wall is 5.5 km long.

Strenuous climb but well worth it, amazing views and interesting history. Would recommend parking at Mali Ston (theres sufficient (paidparking close to the entrance of the walls), walking to Ston and then taking the footpath along the road to get back (around 5 mins). Other way around was tougher, especially in the heat. Ticket gives you access to the Ston castle too. Be sure to try some locally farmed oysters and salt before leaving.

The second longest wall in the world! More than 5 km long, built in the 14th century. The wall connects Ston and Maly Ston, blocking the narrow part of the Pelješac peninsula. There are several places to enter. There are 2 routes: a short one around Ston and to Maly Ston. Of course, if you have time, and most importantly, very good physical preparation. Before walking along the wall, you can taste fresh oysters in Mali Ston and be sure to stock up on water with you. A walk along the wall lasts from 45 minutes to 1 h. It all depends on how fast you walk. Great views from the wall on Ston Saltworks. The Ston salt mines are the oldest large mines in the Mediterranean that have survived to this day. Salt production began in antiquity and has not changed for the last 200 years. They produce the highest quality salt that you must buy in the saltworks and take home and try. Salt has been mined here for 4 thousand years. Salt was worth its weight in gold, which is why this wall was built on the mountain to protect it from the Turks and Venetians. In Mali Ston It is definitely worth a visit for the freshest oysters grown right here. Be sure to visit the Vila Koruna restaurant and try the oysters in 6 types of sauce.

Only some 40 km north from Dubrovnik, the old "Ston" walls constructed between the 14th & 15th centuries are under heavy renovation. They are slowly becoming just as interesting as the famous Dubrovnik walls. Just about the same length to cover (cca. 5km), but much higher (cca. 120 meters above sea leveland steeper to walk. TIP: take the “Mali Ston” entrance to the walls, as it starts from a higher sea level and has easier steps to climb up. Obviously, what goes up, must come down, but I’m sure you’ll realize the difference when you get to the top! The entrance ticket of 70 kn (cca. € 9per adult, includes a visit to the neighboring castle tied to the same history. This makes it ideal to have a meal or beverage between both visits. We were lucky because it did not rain this day. However, we had a beautiful few hours and will come back soon.

City is repairing the walls and its buildings and adding more parking lots. All it looks to me like a very small Dubrovnik with much less people around.Have a plenty of water if you walk the steep walls between Stone and Mali Stone during summer days.Few extra trashcans along the road on the way back would be good.

Located at the beginning of the Pelješac Peninsula, stone walls are connecting the towns of Ston and Mali Ston, and were built in the 14th century in order to protect the Republic of Dubrovnik, and the peninsula itself. Today, it is the second longest fortification in the world (after the Great Wall of Chinaand a great tourist attraction. If you visit Pelješac or Dubrovnik region, you should not miss visiting Ston and its walls. There are two main routes, the shorter one going around the town of Ston, and the longer going from Ston to Mali Ston. If you take the longer tour, be prepared for uphill climbing (hundreds of stairsand dont forget to bring some water, especially in the summer. The longer route takes approximately 35-40 minutes in one direction (you can come back outside the walls, taking a 15-minute walk). The tour also includes a Large castle, which is located near the walls. After the walk on the Ston walls, you can enjoy locally-grown mussels and oysters, accompanied with famous local red wine.

Great view over a great city, you dont have to get on the wall to get the view (which cost money), you can just go up stairs around the city and find a high location for nearly the same height and view. That said the highest point is in the wall so if you want the best view you need to pay to go on the wall. Bring water on hot days! Pictures are from stairs in the city.

The city wall walk is a great way to get to see Dubrovnik old city and sea views. The walk is quite long so give time to rest and plan to sit down for snack/juice along few cafe along the walk. Some of the cafe have really good location over looking the sea.Wear a hat and sun glasses during sunny days as it gets quite hot.Tip: if you plan to just do the city walls walk(200 kina), it good idea to buy Dubrovnik day card (180 kunaas its cheaper and even gets you a day bus card!!

It is quite interesting view from top of the wall. Better park in Mali Ston, don’t forget to pay at the parking meter and put the receipt in the car. Walk to the top of the wall will take about 20min. Then you can walk some towards Ston and have look at the salt fields and then back. Near the parking lot you can try fresh oysters at 1€ per piece.

Built in the middle ages to protect the peninsula from foreign invasions, actually about 5 km of remaining walls exist. Worth the excursion only on a sunny day and affordable ticket (around 9 euro per adult)
