City Point Kitchen - Breakfast restaurant in New Haven, United States
Wonderful Food & Staff! Lovely Location by the water. (Is how I remember it)..Lori, my Loved1 used to run & operate the place until she had to move to Boston 2 years ago, permanently. The owner, beloved Dr. Frank Lobo, sadly died the following year. I dont know the current situation there now. Sad.
Lovely and quaint little cafe right near the water. We had to order the fresh homemade biscuits that were delicious. Definitely going back.
I biked to the end of the Farmington bike trail and came across this place, there lobster role was amazing and so was the coleslaw. Very friend too. Ill be back.
Delicious breakfast spot well worth the short detour. Sweet potato hash is the star. Ask if homemade biscuits are avaiable.
Awesome pancakes and lobster roll. Most of all excellent service. A hidden Gem. Back many times now.
Great place for breakfast or lunch. Students who go to the school down the street can get free bottled drinks with food and go there after school.
What a cute little place! The food is absolutely fantastic! Definitely recommend City Point Kitchen!
Love this place reminds me of the business back home when l was younger, my wife always finds these diamonds in the ruffs, the food is A+
The staff were wonderful! So kind and welcoming. Since we had a party of 6, she offered us a family style breakfast of pancakes, bacon & sausage, scrambled eggs and sweet potato hash. My friend also ordered a lobster roll and everything was so delicious. I would definitely go again.
Loved it! Great little well thought out menu. Very nice little touches elevate it. We were there for brunch. Sweet potato hash, made daily, was a delicious blend of sweet and savory. Avocado toast with egg, creamy and very yummy. The restaurant is nestled in a charming waterfront neighborhood and is very welcoming and thoughtfully decorated. Definitely worth a visit!
Cute place with great brunch options. Well priced and delicious. Awesome location, right in the coast of Coty Point.Youd feel at home when you see the people in the restaurant. Lisa is so friendly and always smiling, making you smile too!One HUGE negative for me is, the outside area is only for waiting. Id pay 10% extra to be served out there. HMU if you guys decide to start a membership club in the future with VIP privilidges to be seated outside!
Very cute little spot with character on the water. Sweet potato hash was great, as easy the turkey avocado sandwich and the breakfast sandwich.I was on a way to a bachelorette in NYC with the bride and bridesmaids and we decided to stop here for lunch and it was the best decision we could have made. This local restaurant did not disappoint.
I had a wonderful relaxing lunch here. Although this restaurant is smaller and a little out of the way for most people, it is definitely worth a visit. They have quite an interesting selection of food that is quite large for the size of the kitchen. I was quite impressed with the atmosphere, it was equal parts homey and charming aswell as fashionable and clean cut. Im very much invested in maritime history so the fact that the decor is so actively focused on portraying the history of the area is very much loved and appreciated. The staff were very friendly and efficient and they give off the vibe that you could sit and chat for a spell. The outdoor seating is adorable and has a view of the sound which is very relaxing. I dont drive so I cant speak much on parking, but there are atleast places to park on the street and in the lot.
Very very long wait time for a to go order but staff was very apologetic about it, food was great and so is the coffee, nice view as well if you sit outside.
Try their salmon sandwich. I’m going to have another next time I go there. Great people great service, great food!
Fun ambiance. Short menu with a few unbeatable favorites like blueberry pancakes and a fabulous lobster roll. Also sweet potato hash, good and unusual.
We waited for our food for over an hour, and my friend didn’t get her meal until the rest of us were basically finished with ours. We were so hungry when we got the food that we couldn’t even wait for our friends meal to get there. No one was apologetic regarding the wait, and they just said “it’s made to order” as an excuse. The food was definitely not worth the wait, I ordered a grilled cheese and it was very underwhelming, something off the kids menu. Their sweet potato hash was more like a mash, and not at all what a hash is. I was really excited to try his place, and the people were very friendly but I will not be coming back.
Their food is so good and very nice people
Fantastic and locally owned breakfast and lunch spot on the harbor! Under new ownership and spectacular service and food! The owners are on site and incredibly kind, concerned and enganging. Any reviews older than a year should be overlooked. I live in City Point and this place is a gem!
Nice, little place to get an affordable breakfast. The people who run it are wonderful! Shell and Bones give them a hard time so support them!
The location is nice and the service was great. This is a small little place. Im glad I got the western omelet as per the recommendation of the server. Im not a fan of ham, but it was all delicious. Unfortunately, their cappuccino machine was down, but it was a nice place to go for breakfast on a lazy Sunday!
We were so impressed with this place! All the food was perfectly cooked and nicely arranged. The lobster roll was fantastic, and a steal for only $11. Coffee was really smooth, way better than the truck stop coffee most breakfast diners have.
Love the atmosphere and location of this place. You can tell they’ve been here for awhile bc our sever greeted multiple people by name as they walked in. Of course I had to get another lobster roll. I like that the melted butter came on the side and you can douse it as much as you’d like. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the coleslaw. It was just a little too bland for me. It was definitely missing something, but couldn’t put my finger on it. Overall it was a great lunch and would come back!
Menu is bare minimum. Servers took care of their friends right away while we sat and waited for menus. Terrible time management, bad service from friendly people. Not worth the drive .
Really a quaint restaurant in a Norman Rockwell setting; wait staff is awesome; love the blueberry pancakes. And looking at the New Haven harbor is a real bonus.
Lisa and jim are wonderful people and the food was sooooo fresh and delisious..and it has really good view and a place to walk around... .definetly we will coming back
The Best place you can eat a breakfast in New Haven
they have just amazing food, feel cozy and you can see them making your food which for me is important, eveything is fresh and delicuous.
Our favorite cozy romantic place for breakfast. Great coffee, mimosa and food. Beautiful view of Long Island sounds.
Stopped in for Sunday breakfast with the inlaws. Nice small place right on the water. Food was good and they also have a make your our bloody Mary that looked good. I would recommend this place for an easy for breakfast stop!
Food is awesome. Sweet potatoe hash and lobster macn cheese are bomb . Great prices and service too.
There appears to have been a change of management at this location. Since then, the menu has changed, and the selection of food has decreased. The food options are no longer as good - for example the lobster bisque came out very creamy with barely any lobster in it.The eggs and hash were pretty bland - the hash was watery. On the other hand, the food was inexpensive.
Fantastic food, cool place to sit. We had the eggs, home made sausage, home made and fantastic biscuits, hash made from sweet potatoes that was different and really tasty. Its not fast, there was one waitress, and one, abd maybe a second cook. The cook is super nice. If its not busy hes happy to chat.Dont go if you are in a hurry and you will love the place!
Took a friend with me and we were really really surprised this hidden gem was here. Loved the biscuits. Service was kind of slow for a place that was empty. But it didnt bother me, we werent in a rush and Ill assume they were new or something. I really want to go back soon.
This was the slowest service I have ever received in my life. We sat ourselves and waited 10 minutes for a server to take our order. First off they were out of soda. After 45 minutes of waiting for our order I said I was almost ready to walk out. After an hour I asked our server if everything was okay. He assured us he would check on it. The chef himself came by and told us it would be ready soon. 30 minutes later we were delivered a complimentary yet very unsatisfactory egg sandwich and assured our food would be out soon (pancakes and eggs). After finishing our sub mediocre sandwich we waited another 10 minutes without any service. We left. This is the worst eatery I have visited in my life. Do not waste your time.
Seat our selfs, long wait, not that good food, fries where terrible, salads bathed in oil and winners were not great either. They were out of fish, buns, burgers, and bacon. So we couldnt have 3/4 of the menu
Completely agree with all other 1 star reviews. Had to seat ourselves, wait 45 minutes for 2 omelettes and hash. There were only four other couples at tables, 2 of which had already been served and were finishing. The order wasnt ready so I asked for it to go, took another 10 minutes and it wasnt even correct. I had already paid and the manager said she couldnt void my transaction. Extremely disappointed. The food that we did get was greasy, burnt, and soggy. Not returning and would not recommend.
Cute little restaurant. Reasonably priced. Great food. Easily missed, no real signage. Off the beaten path.
A great place to grab fresh and hearty food. I love that the menu offers a decent amount of food choices and that their food is made with ingredients from local farms and businesses. A bit pricey, but worth the splurge very now and then for lunch.
Its an inviting and bright space right near the water. They changed chefs, and I dont like the biscuits or sweet potato hash as much as I uses to, but still pretty good. Service is fairly slow, which is nice if youre lingering over a conversation, but a challenge if youre desparate for a coffee/water refill or to pay and get going.
Service was friendly but slow. Most of the tables were empty and it still took more than 40 minutes to get a few simple breakfast items. Also, the first couple things we tried to order they were all out of. Music was annoyingly loud too. Hash was sweet potato chunks with bacon that had been burnt. Pancakes were ok but it takes too long. Here is the cook sitting outside smoking, which might be why you have to wait so long to get served.
A perfect place to bring clients, out of town guests, or a date! It has an intimate and well designed interior, and an incredibly crafted menu. Their flavor combinations are thoughtful, creative, and delicious. Small menu- everything is a good choice. Love the personal staff and chefs. Also appreciate that it is a place I can go and know that I will always be able to hear the other person talk. If you find yourself at this hidden gem, you must try the espresso!
Had a quick breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Service was excellent and the food was even better. They had no problem accommodating a dairy allergy.
Place is cute, food is decent, but not worth the bad service and long wait times. Servers take 20+ minutes to ask about drinks and longer to take order, then the food will take over 40 minutes once ordered. Today the entire place had weird energy bc it was 10:30AM, restaurant half empty, and all guests were waiting around for one thing or another. Servers act like it was the kitchen but they were some of the worst servers Ive ever experienced. If kitchen is struggling servers should be hustling to keep guests happy (biscuits on the house, mimosas, or just the courtesy of a water refill and an update). Just a mess. Ive tried this place twice. Same story both times. Both times I saw tables walk out while waiting for their order to be taken or food to come. Its a shame. If you come here youll have to flag someone down (or walk to the barand ask twice for everything you get.
Beautiful location, great food --much of it locally sourced--and locally owned. Perfect place for a casual, relaxing breakfast, lunch, cocktail.
The food looked great but I would not know how it tastes because I waited over an hour and ended up leaving. I wasnt alone since 3 other tables left after waiting over an hour without receiving their food. The staff was pleasant and trying their best but it appeared they where severally under-staffed and the kitchen was tragically mismanaged. Even a short staffed kitchen shouldnt take over an hour for eggs and hash. On the bright side the coffee was really good. My suggestion to the owner is to better train his kitchen staff and make sure that you have adequate staffing for your busiest times/days.
We like the ambience. However, at this very moment we are starving after having been waiting for about an hour for our food. Not cool.
Great locally sourced food and friendly staff. A big hit amongst both locals and visitors. Can get crowded on weekends!
Delicious and charming. Comfort food with a gourmet flair and some originality. The sweet potato hash with eggs is terrific! So many tempting (and even some healthythings on the menu and all the prices are very reasonable. Basic but cozy décor and layout. And best of all they serve breakfast until 4pm!
Super helpful and and friendly staff, menu is small, but perfect. Just the perfect mix of specialized cooking and comfort food, this spot is on my permanent "must visit list!
