Bbq was cold, Coleslaw was disgusting and baked beans had a bad wang to them. 50$ to basically throwing it away and staff not friendly and serve yourself so not a restaurant.

Worse bbq place I have tried. The food had no flavor. I ordered bbq chicken sandwich had to ask for bun, it was cold. Cole slaw tasted like mayo and no seasoning. Fries were burnt.

Good. Similar to Rudys thats in other states.Buy by the pound, samplers, sandwiches, kids meals, etc. Desserts are all separate prices.Our family of 5 cost $78+

The service was great. I greeted as soon as I entered the door. The restaurant was neat and clean. My meal was packaged quickly and my requests were followed as I instructed. The food was hot and delicious 🤤😋

Took friends from out of state and the experience was horrible. The Brisket and Ribs were terribly dry , the pulled Chicken tasted like it was out of a can and the Sausage was raw. I was actually embarrassed to have suggested it…Spent $70 and threw half of the food away…I will not be back!

The brisket was tasty, collard greens were a hard pass for me, they were too bitter. The mustard based sauce was my jam.

I traveled all day .. only the restaurant was open until 10:00 ..walked in at 930 ... the cashier was friendly ..another employee was friendly too .. food was outstanding and delicious

Omg! The most tender juicy brisket I have had in a long time! Friendly staff was a bonus. I cant wait to try the pulled pork next time.

I had the chicken sandwich, baked beans, macaroni and cheese. The chicken sandwich was really good until I added some other sauces. The sauces had what tasted like a lot of vinegar in them Im not for sure if thats what it was or not. The baked beans were really good, except a big slab of meat I got in mine. The macaroni and cheese needed a little salt I think. They have bottle drinks which are really loved Big red, ginger ale, bottle beer, fanta sodas.

Who doesn’t love good BBQ? I struggle finding the right combination of food here. The menu is sandwich based and then all family sized. I just got the pulled chicken, no bun, original sauce, green beans and cornbread. It was ok, I never like being critical, but Sonny’s is just a bit better. I will return though and try the pork to see how it goes.

I had the half grilled chicken with fries and vegetables...it was sooo delicious! I ate of it for three days! Totally worth it.

It’s one of my husbands favorite stops but I have a hard time finding anything appealing on the menu. I ordered 2 pieces of ribs on the bone, cole slaw & fries with cheese & bacon.The ribs were tough, but they had a good flavor.The cole slaw was good, but not good enough for me to finish.The fries were awesome!!! If I find myself ordering there again, I’m just ordering the covered fries. The bacon chunks were huge and they weren’t stingy at all! It was amazing!!!The tea is SWEET!!! I love sweet tea, but I had to water this down a little. 😅No complaints though, I’d rather add a little water, than be served tea flavored water any day!

I got the salad today, 11.99 with brisket, portion size=weak. Ingredients were fresh, chipotle ranch had not even a hint of chipotle. I might have got 2 oz of brisket. Cup of pickles had 3 in it. BBQ sauce cup was half empty. Collards were just okay but for some reason still have stems that are unpleasant. Corn pudding, tasty with lots of overcooked corn as usual, really sticks to the teeth. Would love to try their ribs but at 31.99 a rack Ill go buy 3 and smoke them myself. 23.99/# for brisket is laughable.Their prices have gotten outrageous, while the quality has dwindled. I have gone to this location for years and it just not the same anymore. We need better bbq.The staff, very friendly and willing to help, however I got my meal to go. Im willing to give this place one more go round but if there isnt improvement, Ill gladly eat somewhere else.

Great lunch spot. Everything on the menu that Ive tried is awesome. Portions are big and prices are reasonable for the quality.

I ate at this location on Richmond as I had a horrible experience at the Harrodsburg location and was provided a gift card to try City BBQ again. The restaurant was clean, the staff were pleasant and they answered my questions before ordering. My food was timely and came out hot. I ordered a platter meal, with several meats and sides of mac and cheese and baked beans along with a lemonade. I did not enjoy the mac and cheese, it was quite bland. The baked beans had a sweet sauce that was too sweet for me. The sausage was amazing and the brisket, while a little dry, was quite good and did not even need sauce. I had a spicy sauce I used on the pulled pork, which was okay, but the pulled chicken did not taste good and I only had 1 bite. The lemonade was quite good.Overall, Id say it was average. The sausage was excellent, the brisket was good, but the pork was average, while the sides and chicken werent to my liking.

City BBQ used to be good, now it’s mediocre at best. Ate there today for the very last time. The $10.99 brisket sandwich was dry and tasteless on a stale bun. The beans were canned and not very good. I decided to go all in and get the peach cobbler (which they claim is homemade). It. Was. Terrible! Tasted like chemicals so I returned it for the chocolate cake. I ok a few bites out of it and brought it home. I promptly threw it out. If I’m paying good money for good food I don’t mind. But their food is terrible.

I had a previous bad experience and left a review. I was asked to contact them and they send a credit for 2 more meals to give it another try. The employees were great, friendly this time. This time the chicken was red and very watery (I took it home and finished cooking itthe bathrooms were dirty and broken, I had to go retrieve part of my order, and it just does not taste as good as other places. Stars are important and I gave you 4 only because you sure tried by having us try it again.

Took my 92 year old Mom for a birthday lunch. I got the pulled pork sandwich topped with creamy coleslaw and a side of potato salad. Mom wanted to get the ribs so she was glad to be able to order individual rib bones since she didnt want a slab of ribs. She loved the ribs and potato salad too. Would definitely go back.

I got a feeds 8 to go and what a wonderful place! The staff was extremely helpful and nice. When we are visiting KY we will make this a regular stop to feed our friends. Thank you to the staff for going above and beyond!

Turkey tacos at a BBQ joint? Oh, they were delicious and spicy. Good price, good food. Ill be back to sample more menu items.

The potato salad was amazing as the green beans where also. The pulled pork was good but a little dry and the ribs could have been a lot better. The service was amazing as well but not for the price.

The crew from the place is really friendly & supportive, great attitudeand servicial. The food taste great specially the Brisket 🍖 is a "Must Try" 😋 from the variety. However all the options from the menu are really Good! Also the ambient is easy going. The place feels like a classical restaurant to have a local taste. 👌🏻

I love City BBQ! Their greens are delicious. The Judges Sampler is more than enough food for Mt husband and I. We always have left overs. Food is always so good.

Had not eaten at City Barbeque in a while and decided to get it for lunch. Ordered the turkey lunch with green beans and that was okay. But the peach cobbler that I ordered was terrible. The cobbler was one of my favorites from there until today! The whipped cream was not even sweet and the cobbler was old and hard. I will not be returning to City Barbeque.... Especially this location.

My family loves City Barbecue! I get the half chicken, my husband gets the ribs. My son get a brisket sandwich and my daughter gets the pork sandwich. Everything is alway juicy and delicious. The side items are great! I wish they’d bring back the cucumber salad and the BLT, my son loved the BLT a lot!

Price compared to quality is subpar. No idea How they can charge what they do for the lackluster product they provide. Paid $15 for a pound of pulled smoked chicken. Should’ve paid $4.99 for a rotisserie chicken at Costco and saved 10 bucks and it would’ve been much better!

DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT. We ordered ribs and cobbler from this location and to our surprise they decided to cook our peach cobbler WITH A SCREW IN IT. We will be calling the health department THE MOMENT they open in the morning. We will never step foot in a city bbq again.

Ribs were tender enough, but not falling off the bone. Ordering process was a bit slow. Not many beers or other drinks to choose from. Sauces and sides were good. Chocolate cake was the highlight (dont miss that!)

From the not so warm welcome that matched the food I was disappointed. Pulled pork was dry even with slaw on it. The only part I enjoyed was the smokey smell when I walked in. I cannot recommend

Not much to show...ate it was great pork, beef and turkey. Hits the spot was great the green beans were also amazing. Burp burp loved it stop in and enjoy if ur into bbq this will do it!

If you can eat a piece of meat without putting any extra seasoning on it, you have found a master grill chef.I tried the motherlode with a couple colleagues and did not realize there was sauce till I had eaten my share of meat.Every type of meat from the brisket, to the smoked turkey, to the ribs, were delicious in their own right. If you are driving through stop in. You will not be disappointed

Very good bbq! Friendly service. I ordered the city sampler. All was delicious. Expected a more smoky flavor. I ordered fries but didn’t receive them nor was charged for them. They were super busy though. The portions served 3 people. My 2 sides were baked beans and corn pudding...yum! I do recommend you try it!

Loved it! We got the Judges Sampler. Perfect amount for 2 hungry people. Lol All the meat was tender and fell off the bone. Would recommend to anyone who loves smoked meat!

Came in around noon on a Saturday. Quiet not busy at all. Clean very friendly staff. Had the Judges sample. Very good. Also had the peach cobbler. All I can say is **DIVINE** Like heaven in a bowl. Will definitely be coming back. Quality and quantity are well worth the price. Much better than Sonnys BBQ.

Not too bad. I had the City Sampler. Brisket, turkey, pulled pork, and sausage. The brisket and pulled pork were on the dry side. The sausage and turkey were perfect! Fast service!

Best BBQ in the Bluegrass! You must try this place out, get a sampler with a little of everything, and a variety of their award winning sauces. My favorite combos are the smoked Turkey and Sausage with Carolina Mustard BBQ sauce. Also their brisket is to die for and even their desserts like triple chocolate cake or my favorite peach cobbler a la mode. Dont sleep on this place until you have a belly full of barbecue.

Love City BBQ! Try to stop when I am close to one. Love for them to make there way up to Michigan. But for now I get to eat at them when I am in Ohio or Kentucky. I have tried alot of different food items and have enjoyed everything I have eaten. Good down home cookin!

Some of the best BBQ in Lexington. It may be a chain, but it has a great local feel. Try the More Cowbell Sandwich and the to die for potato salad.

Its certainly country for atmosphere but a 5 for BBQ. Great takeout as well as dine in. Portions ample enough to share.

Accustomed to Memphis’ Famous barbeque, I’m always a bit cautious when eating any other. I stumbled into City Barbeque while traveling and decided to give it a try. Both the food and service were outstanding!!!! I would definitely recommend if ever in Lexington, KY.

It is a self serve restaurant, you place your order, you pick it up , you box your leftovers, and bus your table. Even with all that, and being Pricey, the Food is wonderful! The sides, especially the potato salad, and baked beans are so good! The pork is smokey and just right for a Bbq sandwich! fyi..they have a condiment bar..tons of sauces, onion, pickle. etc.

We altered our route back from Charlotte, NC to Chicago in order to stop here and get some delicious BBQ. Pulled pork and smoked turkey were extremely delicious! Staff was great and we had a nice chat with the owner as well. Cant recommend this BBQ restaurant enough if youre in the area (or even if youre not in the area).
