Cinnamon Indian Gourmet - Indian restaurant in Hobart, Australia
This was our favorite Indian restaurant in Hobart until its permanent closure recently. Big thanks for the countless beautiful meals weve had here. Hoping youll reopen soon with the same amazing food and service again :)
One of the best Indian Restaurants in Hobart. Very spacious, great ambiance, lovely staff and great cooks! Must visit!!
Avoid this place. Horrible food. The prawns stank. The garlic chicken was bland. The waitress/hostess was nice but clueless. Do not go here.
Great location, good food
Poor service only one waitress running about trying to wait on tablesThe food was poor quality and disappointing experienceThe vegetable curry and lamb dish was not authentic at all very watered down and no attention to taste. The baked fish we ordered had a smell n not fresh. We complained however nothing was done. Not a restaurant to visit if you have a curry craving.
Good food and service !The goat was delicious..Very nice night out
Tasty food and decent interior. Best to order from online menu before arriving or you could be in for a wait.
Excellent food great service cozy ambience good portion size authentic curries.
I would fail this place on terrible service alone. The waiters had no idea what they were doing: we were never asked for a drinks order, they were dressed in slogan tee shirts in a place decked out with chandeliers (basically extremely casual for a dinner place in Mac 01), they didnt remember who ordered what and just allocated food to each person - so we were consistently swapping plates as they put them down (so odd and they didnt seem to realise it was odd that we swapped plates each time she put one down and had to discuss amongst ourselves who ordered what). Im sure theres more but overall it was just a hassle and wont go back - not with so many other options in Hobart. Service was extremely slow and generally clueless and there was only one other table there so theres really no excuse. FYI I have pretty low expectations for service, I dont dine out in fancy places and really dont want to say someone did an awful job - but in this case they really did.We ordered four meals, three were fine (all curriesbut the fourth (butter chickenwas over salted. Its very unusual to have over salted food in a restaurant so it beggars belief how they achieved that.
A very good Indian style restaurant in the Hobart city. A large and spacious area, interiors were looking elegant. We had been here for lunch, the place was almost empty except for a staff. Menu has wide range of Indian varieties and everything we ordered were available though it was near closure time. We enjoyed the food and service was great.
Good setting and service. Tried Indian street food. Was okay. Will try something different next visit.
Not particularly amazing the wait staff really pushed for us to have a banquet when we were not keen on it... Food took a long time to come out considering there was not many people eating in the restaurant... Plenty of better places to go in and around Hobart.
For a fine dining experience, this restaurant has it all - excellent food, excellent service and the Dal makhni is the best dish
We stopped for lunch at Cinnamon. Staff is friendly and ambience is great but food is average.Tandoori Fish Tikka - tasted nothing like Indian fish tikkaChanna Masala - was sweetChicken Biryani - tasted ok but their mild to medium is medium spicyMasala dosa - They could not provide this as their batter was sticky. Wonder how a restaurant can function like this? Not happy with our meal !
Below average food. We ordered lasuni murgh, Mysore chicken and gosht curry and none of those dishes were tasty. Mysore chicken had so much oil floating on top. Vegetarian paneer dish was also below average. We had been to the Launceston cinnamon restaurant and absolutely loved it so were pretty excited to try this one. The only good thing were the rotis (chapatis).
Banquet $40 each, and served uncooked chicken. Dessert was literally one mouthful, and the food was just sauce hardly any meat! Even though they apologised really not worth the risk. Still took our money without discount . Two of our group are sick today.
Pretty average food. Dosa was burnt. You dont get value for the price you pay.
Such a nice place ! The waitress was welcoming and attentive. Regarding to the food, I have never eaten a such flavoured chicken byriani. Good value for money and its delicious. I recommend it! Garlic nans are also really nice.
We thought we would try this restaurant which is in the Macq01 hotel complex as we had tried the other restaurants and they were excellent. We were very disappointed. The waitress serving us was very friendly and helpful. We dined last night as a group of 9. We all had entrees and mains. All the meals were lovely and plentiful. We had goat( one mild and the other medium), fish, korma lamb( all mild),
We dined last night as a group of 9. We all had entrees and mains. All the meals were lovely and plentiful. We had goat( one mild and the other medium), fish, korma lamb( all mild), We have come to not expect too much when dining at a Indian Restaurant but I must say we enjoyed the food, it was fresh, the meat quality best
So we reached here around closing time In the afternoon approx 2:20pm and they close from 2:30-5:00 pm . However the receptionist did greet us well and offered that they can do takeaway instead of dining. Being new to the place she also recommended where we can have lunch in the nearby park/ beach. Appreciate her efforts.About the food - good non veg dishes, but I was not very impressed with the veg kofta that we took.Overall good experience!
This place has amazing food and very consistent. We have been to Cinnamon a few times when visiting Hobart and it never disappoints. Great Indian fine dining experience. In short, Nom Nom Nom!
Best Indian food in Hobart. Authentic flavours. Amazing location. Amazing service.Good job guys. Will definitely be dining here again.
Well price.. well serviced restaurant..food was delicious and good portions. Lovely place ..
Beautiful traditional Indian food. Service is great and very reasonably priced. Situated on Hobarts waterfront, if you like Indian food this is the place to be..
I have given 2 stars for ambiance and service. The food is no where near authentic or gourmet!! It felt as if the food was frozen, thawed, heated and served. This would be a perfect place if the food is equally good!!
The place was good, nice and clean. We ordered butter chicken and chilly herb naan which was delicious.I am glad we found this restaurant, cant wait to be back.
Terrible food quality and service. Naan was worst along with butter chicken. It seems like they bought naan from woolies or coles.. It was my second visit and I will never come again at this restaurant.
Delicious lamb korma, eggplant curry and garlic naan! Very happy with the food.
Fantastic food but the service was TERRIBLE! Forgot our mains. Rude waitressing staff. Tried to clear our table whilst we were still eating. Really needs to improve their front of house performance.
Lovely meal. Quiet, beautiful restaurant. I had the vindaloo which was spicy but not so hot that I couldnt taste the flavours. Yum.
A beautiful restaurant offering some delicious dishes ..
Just ordered via uber eats, my go to Indian benchmark meal. Samosa, rice, goat curry and a roti.I have been a devoted curry eater for over 25 yrs and without a doubt, THE BEST CURRY EXPERIENCE I have ever had. That is a massive claim, as I have tried many curries, in many restaurants, in many countries, but this was without fault. Amazing samosa, fluffy rice, devine goat curry and lovely roti.I am so delighted that I now have my go to curry place in Hobart.Well done!!!
Take away was quite pricey which is not a problem but it was also very mean portions. I counted 8 small pieces of meat in both containers which is really just stingy.Naan was good, sauces were okay personally I won’t go back there again not when there is so much better close by.
Absolutely loved it! Tasty and not expensive right in Hobarths harbour! Also, the waitress was really funny and kind. Recommended!
Helpful & friendly staff, good food and well priced at a nice location in Hobart.
Great indian restaurant i ever visited. great food great staff. everything is excellent
I had dinner here in July and it was great at that time. But in my second visit I experienced lot of changes. I visited here recently couple of times in a week. Literally, they changed their staff. Last time me and my partner was in Hobart for conference and this restaurant was the nearest place to have Indian food. We was served by charming lady manager, she served us and food quality was great. But In second visit, I have seen some new faces. I should specify, the level of service is dropped. Healthy man should have some sense how to speak with customers. I was literally quiet because he wont let me speak.Worst experience in Hospitality sector, was not expected from this restaurant. He should be fired. Please improve your customer service, staff need to learn etiquettes and improve food quality.
A thoroughly delightful experience. We turned up with no booking on a Sunday evening and were warmly welcomed and taken to a spacious table for 5.Firstly, there is very little in the way of ambience, the dining room has so much space and very little in the way of decoration to soften or induce a feeling of comfort or belonging. That is my only criticism. The care and attention to the food is obvious.I can say that I had the tenderest beef (Madrascurry that Ive had in decades from an Indian restaurant. We had a range of curry styles from Madras to Butter and a couple in between as well as a full assortment of breads and rices to accompany the curries.Every curry was distinct and full of flavour, presentation was good, pricing was good at about $20 per main. The care and attention in the preparation of the meals was obvious, from the full flavour curries to tandoori chicken, the the nanns and rices, everything was tasty, well balanced and enjoyable.I noticed the lack of ambience when I arrived, by the time I left I didnt care.On a side note, they offer Australian & Indian HOT.If youre a fan of Thai HOT or Korean HOT then their Indian HOT will register as a mild to medium.Enough to get the nose running a touch by the end of the meal but not enough to get even the first beads of sweat on the forehead and certainly not Hot enough to be uncomfortable.Certainly worth a visit!
This restaurant in the newest part of Hobarts waterfront offers beautiful Indian cuisine in a lovely setting. The decore is elegant. Service was exceptional with the waiter offering leading suggestions in menu choice. Perfect. The banquet filled 4 adults and two teenage boys to the brim!
Not a bad restaurant, my partner and I had dinner there last night. The waiter was very friendly and chatty, he had some banter with myself and my partner about how men should really listen to their wives (couldn’t agree more 😂which was fun and light hearted. He then took our orders. Not too long a wait for the food which was fine - not amazing but nothing bad. We had the chicken korma, pilau rice, beef madras and garlic naan. The naan in particular was vary nicely cooked. We finished all of our food and, together with two beers the total bill was under $70, so not bad. Only improvement would be that the place had a slight musty smell to it when we walked in. Other than that, we didn’t mind it.
Great food and service. A step above most Indian restaurants in Hobart at comparable prices.
Lovely restaurant and staff, very welcoming to our family and children. Unfortunately the meals were just average, some were too salty and others were flavourless. No stand out meals at all. The dishes didnt match the fancy surroundings. A bit disappointed, as this was my 2nd visit to this restaurant really hoping to be Wowed! Not the case.
Great meal and supe helpful staff who helped us navigate the menu. Highly recommend!
Lovely food, staff were friendly and a crackup. Would definitely go again.
This was the second time we dined here. The restaurant is clean and aesthetically pleasing. Service was slow on our most recent visit. The curries were very good. However, they lose a point for burning the peas in our pea palou, causing all of the rice to taste and smell burnt. We will probably go back.
Very good ... Restaurant in Hobart. Very near to the city center and the restaurant staff and food delicious. Enjoyed the evening with Indian food.
Amazing Food, equally amazing ambience and excellent service! Will visit this place again when in Hobart!
Awesome food and taste and experienced staff!Definitely I will go back and I will recommending this to everyone...It is the only one who serve right Indian taste and 5 stars service.
Excellent food......Especially naan is very good. Hand made samosa taste better. Rasmalai an indian sweet is mind blowing. Will recommend anyone
