Very impressive historic building. Didnt get to see inside because queue was long. Recommend purching tickets in advance with a specific visit time if possible. This is a must see, and its must see for everyone, so avoid the headache and purchase tickets in advance.

Beautiful basilica from the outside. (Cant tell what its like from the inside ad Ive never been, but Im sure its stunning tooIm not too sure how much the entry is to the basilica, but its definitely not free. Tipp if you go really early in the morning you will find the piazza San marco almost empty.

Breathtakingly beautiful ! Historically, the political & religious center of Venice & a must see, with a history stretching back to 832 AD. The mosaics inside, the gold, vibrant colors are a feast for the eyes. We had an official tour (advance timed tickets& it was worth the price (included the square & Doge palace).

Fantastic place to visit. We waited in line as trying to find out how and where to buy was a pain.Cost us €6 to enter and was well worth it. You have to pay extra inside for visiting other parts like the altar, the museum and the higher levels.

Lines to get in are hours long. I bought a "skip the line" ticket and although the process is efficient I was disappointed in what I saw vs. so many of the other amazing churches and palazzos in Venice. This basilica is undergoing massive renovations inside and out and although I climbed all the way up to the top floor (very steep stairs btw), the whole thing was underwhelming.

Amazing architectural feat. The floor was being refinished but you can see how detailed some of the tile work is. Reservation process online is the way to go as the line gets quite insane. Book ahead for optimal times especially during golden hour if you plan to go to the top and take some photos.

I feel like it’s a rip off! They charge you 7 euros just to enter with extremely limited area not even covering the whole floor, then you need to pay 5 euros for audio and 5 more euros for another section on the floor then another 7 euros to go up.I can not believe this! Yes, the church is impressive, nice and different BUT definitely not worth it, spent 10 mins in there and was extremely disappointed. I don’t recommend going there

Incredible feat of architectural design. The place is breathtakingly large and the amount of detail and attention that has gone into building and maintaining it is truly stunning. Each section has it’s own price to visit but it is definitely worth the price and time.

A must see when in Venice! Be prepared for a long queue if entering.The balcony view from inside upstairs if worth a look. Apart from that’s okay but you don’t get to walk around much inside.We actually paid quite a lot for tickets online but they got cancelled, so we paid on the door instead and it was considerably cheaper.

Arguably the most favourite building in Venice, it is always packed. So I joined a night tour and was glad that I did because it gave access to some off limited areas. It was also great that only 2 other groups were there at the same time. So I could really pay attention and learn about the history about the basilica. What a beautiful place. I still cant believe I was walking in it. (July 2022)

Another fascinating place to visit in Venice. Please note, however, they museum passes are not accepted and you will need to buy tickets at the entrance. Different sections are charged differently. One should have a proper clothes to visit the Basilica (short skirts etc not allowed).

I really need to buy online ticket to skip line. Being with children for an hour od two in line....i rather shoot my leg.The church is amazing from the outside but to much of it was stolen in Byzantium during the crusades.

The popular St. Mark’s Basilica and the very iconic bell tower stand in this place. The other dominant building here is the Doge’s Palace.All the buildings are very pretty. You need to stand in the middle of this square to really get the feel of the wonderful architecture around you. It’s a very lively and happy place (at least that’s the way I felt being here). Full of activity, iconic buildings and cheerful tourists.It’s a great place to spend a few hours. There are quite a lot of restaurants, cafes and shops here which are nice but expensive (as is the case near any main tourist attraction).

A truly stunning example of a mix of Gothic, Romanesque, and Byzantine architecture. Almost a 1000 years old and this structure will still leave you in awe of the mosaic craftsmanship, shimmering gold down from every angle possible. A true gem of Venice, of Italy, and of the human race as a whole. An absolute must visit for those lucky to visit this beautiful city.

The Basilica is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Europe and around the world.Basically its free to enter, but if you are interested in the history and museum part, you have to get tickets, better to buy it online .Be ready to see a lot of gold and gorgeous architectural elements.Btw,Mark is the most important religious temple in the city of Venice.

It was under the major renovation when we visited, $3 euros entry fee only for the main church, all the side room are blocked!Another €5 to go up to the tower, of cause, the view is amazing but the line are just too long!Another entry fees to go in the museum! Very long line also!We may come in winter again to see if the line are manageable?

Basilica with a different kind of architecture and doesnt resemble like other churches. Its bit unique the way it looks. Currently some renovation work is going on and so not many people are let inside at same time and for same reason there was big queue to get inside.Fee for getting inside is 3€ and queue is quite long. We didnt have enough time, so didnt go for it.

Located in the iconic San Marco Square near the Grand Canal in Venice, it is a must visit. The architecture of the building is like no other. It looks majestic any time of the day. Unfortunately when I was there, there was some construction going on to stabilize certain structures. Nonetheless, it looked amazing!

Must visit in Venice. Really historical place with great mosaic floors and intricate walls/ceilings. Might want to get a guide to explain everything around. Paid 3 euros for entry and it may be really crowded at times.

The church is under renovation so most of the seats are booked out. The entry is 3 eur, and to access the upstairs its additional 5 eur. We didnt opt to go upstairs as we felt everything was under construction. We covered the entire church fairly quick.

Im not usually a fan of paying to go visit churches, but this is definitely worth every penny (also its not much, just 3 euros to enter or 6 euros if you want to skip the queue). The gold mosaic everywhere inside and the beautiful floor tiles are just incredible ! Definitely worth a visit!

Great panoramic view from the Campanile, recommended on sunset! You can even see the Alps beyound the Lagoon, a part from Venice center. Impressing! Elevator takes hou up so no suffering with the stairs.

One of the most amazing buildings I’ve ever seen. So much gold, but in a good way. The mosaics are incredible, on the ceilings, on the floors, everywhere. It’s definitely worthwhile to pay extra to go to the museum so you can go on the roof & get a closeup view of the mosaics.

One of the few beautiful places in Venice. The motifs on the façade are quite interesting and cover most of the important historical events related to Venice. The square and the buildings around it are contactable with each other, so for a moment we travel through history. The interior of the cathedral looks as beautiful as the exterior. The place is recommended for children or a larger group of visitors.

Pretty mosaics. Building is under renovation and still full price to get in. We waited 45 minutes. They charge extra for some areas and to get up the stairs… after all it’s a church they should calm down.

Beautiful inside and out! I recommend going to mass on Sunday if you are in town. Interesting experience, enter on Non-Canal side, dress appropriately , no charge. Definitely get to St Marks square early in the morning before all the tours and chaos. Be ready for construction… damage repair from 2019 flood.

Stunning Basilica. We had to wait in line, but it moved quickly. Price was 3 euro per person to enter, but worth it. So beautiful inside. It was under construction outside and only limited areas you could go inside. We did not buy the museum pass to go upstairs and outside. The have restrictions on clothing to enter (womens shoulders must be covered as an example)

Though part of the basilica was under construction during our visit, you can’t miss the astonishing architecture and beauty of this place! We paid for guided visit and entered not only the main room, but also the museum, the horses and the terrace which has a breathtaking view towards St.Marco Square. It’s already crowded, 2 years after Covid hit, so prepare to wait on long queues in case you don’t have ‘skip-the-line’ ticket. Regular fee is 3€, and you pay extra to enter the museum.

St Marks square is one of the most happening places in Venice. This was one of our last destinations in our Europe tour. It was calming and relaxing to wind up our vacation. They have some wonderful seafood places near by. This basilica is one of the oldest 9th century AD architecture. The mosaics glow different shades at different times of the day. The reason is they are made of actual gold. One interesting fact about the basilica is the outer dome that you see from outside is not real. Since Venice cannot build massive structures they constructed a light weight lead composite dome to give the grand visuals. Once you step inside you will notice the roof to be much lower. Right after we left Venice there was a major flood which flooded the whole square including the inside of the church. You should never miss this one if you are in Venice.

I recommend buying the Basilica AND the museum/horses ticket as the ticket for the Basilica only does not allow you to go upstairs. We paid 6€ each for the skip-the-line tickets including the entrance of the Basilica (3€ each). Adding the 3€ to skip the line was worth it. We then paid 7€ each to enter the museum and horses tour and we also thought it was worth it. The museum allows you to get closer to the ceilings mosaics and this alone is worth the add-on. The views of San Marco square from outside the basilica (balconyis a nice bonus.

Even with scaffolding and ongoing renovation i still recommend it.The outside walls are decorated with marbles of different colors, but extremelly well combined, classic venetian gothic.The interior is lavishly covered in golden mosaic all over the basilica. Really amazing. I also appreciated the floor work of the pavements

***A Pleasant Mass Service***For a country that triumphs its basilicas, St Marks is slightly underwhelming, but given its location on the island of Venice, it gathers a large attendance for mass and the priest shared the homily in both Italian and English. Its difficult to reach via walking due to the tiny alleyways and poor signposts, the timings are impractical for visitors and there was a lot of scaffolding. Visit during sunset as the lighting was beautiful!

The architecture ..The marbles.. every detail is a pleasure to the eyes .. highly recommend 🌹 but for every move you have to pay extra money 💸 so I couldnt go up to the roof it was an extra 5. This Bazilika is a living evidence about the great mind of the ancient architects ❤️ #Venice

Had the most amazing Sunrise Engagement at Saint marks Basilica in Venice. An impressive place to be at dawn, the lights, very calm and the beauty of this splendorous place is just priceless and nowhere on earth. These two had the memories that last a lifetime.

The basilica is really beautiful but they do all the possible to take more money from the visitor.You need to pay €3 to get in, at least €5 for audioguide, €5 to go in Pala d’ oro and, finally, €7 euros to go up and see the view from the top of the basilica.

Well worth a visit. The cathedral is stunning. Mosaics are beautiful.Scan the QR Code outside, so you can book Skip the que tickets. Well worth the €6.

It is called the "golden cathedral" for one reason. It is different from all the other Italian cathedrals and it is beautiful (bizantine style). I suggest to book the visit to skip the line. Take also the visit to the Pala doro (a unique very old golden piece of art), it is completely worth it.

This basilica had a historic feeling to it, which was totally different from other churches I visited on Italian travels. The gilded tiling across the arches and ceilings was impressive, very gothic vibe going on like the Mezquita in Cordoba. Was a bit too crowded and not enough time to sit down and contemplate.

One of the most beautiful churches in Northern Italy, I paid 3€ to get in and it’s totally worth it. You can’t help but looking to those gold ceilings with marvelous paintings. Astonishing.

After seeing St.Peters in Rome, I thought no other Basilica would amuse me but I was wrong. This one did. It has its own charm. The art work is great. The style is completely different. For a religious place having separate tickets for entrance 3eur, audio guide 5eur, walking into side rooms 5eur and Museums 7eur was very confusing and felt weird.

The place itself is gorgeous, but under renovation. To get in, its 3€ and most of the church is blocked off, including the seats and all of the side rooms. The entrance fee just lets you walk around the main room. If you want to go up to the tower its another 5€ and the museum is also an additional cost. I walked through it fairly quick as there was not much to see, and there was a big crowd the whole way

Beautiful church. We were there in winter and it was no trouble getting in.If u don’t have a guide, the church website has some explanation of the history to give u context for the importance of the church to the city.

Absolutely breath taking. Treasures like these are what gets me into a cramped airplane. The architecture is very unique. The millions of tiny stones used to make the many many mosaics are mind boggling. It was a bit tricky tacking picks do to how dark it was. I would recommend a low resolution camera. Other than that just enjoy the beautiful sights. Oh and do your self a flavor and read up on the buildings history first. Makes it more interesting when you go in more knowledgeable than everyone else

Gorgeous. Lots of gold. Stunning.You pay 3€ at the door, 5€ if you want to go see the specific golden alter (we didn’t, it seemed like just a slightly different viewand 7€ if you want to go upstairs on the terraces (we didn’t but would have if it was nicer out, there might be more up there).

A must visit when you go to Venice. It’s really center to the St Marks Square and it tells the story of St Mark amongst so many other stories that are super interesting of a time past. It’s so beautiful it’s terrace definitely gives you a chance to soak in the view and for panoramic pictures of the horizon and the clock tower and yes the horses (cavalli). There is a 3 euro fee to go into it and they need your green pass or vaccination proof. There is also a museum after a set of 30 stairs that has an extra charge of 7 euros and it allows you to access the terrace and see a different style of drawing and mosaics.

Obviously another must visit when you are this part of Venice! A beautiful church to take in and behold. The artwork in this place is incredible and breath taking to say the least. Well worth it!! Apparently there was no charge to visit, but be aware there is now a minimal 3 Euro fee per person. Once inside there are separate exhibits and a museum for a more in depth look which are charged for a fee too.
