Beautiful architecture just off the old town square. The entrance isnt obvious if you are looking for it as you need to go down an alleyway but it is worth looking for.

Amazing architecture and one of the best churches in Prague

Stunning gothic architecture, you should definitely visit this church If youre visiting in Prague. You can get absolutely amazing views from the main square. The church was built in the 14th century and is 260 feet tall. This is by far one one my favourite buildings in Prague, it has some interesting history behind it thats worth looking into if youre interested.

A beautiful spot church for photos. There are different design of buildings in front of the church so It was interesting to see them all together. Another interesting land mark in Old Town Prague.

Admission is free, it is very impressive and it is very beautiful inside. photos inside are not allowed!

The magnificent Church of Our Lady before Týn or Týn Church (Kostel Matky Boží Před Týnemis one of the best examples of Gothic architecture in Prague and undoubtedly one of the best things to see in the city.Its immense 15th-century towers shoot up like giant antennae to a height of 80 meters and dominate the Old Town skyline. If you look closely, you will notice that the two towers are not identical, the larger one is ‘Adam’ and the smaller one is ‘Eve’.The Gothic church dates to the 14th century and soon became a hotbed of heresy from its earliest days eventually becoming the main Hussite place of worship as the reform movement grew in popularity during the 16th century.Its spires once held a giant golden chalice (the mascot of the Hussitesbetween them, which the Catholics promptly melted into a golden Madonna with a halo, sceptre, and crown (still visible on the front of the churchwhen they regained power in 1621 after the Battle of White Mountain.The largely Baroque interior of the church contains the remains of the famous Danish (and Prague courtastronomer Tycho Brahe, who died in 1601.According to popular legend, the fairly-tale-like appearance of the Týn Church is supposedly where Walt Disney got the inspiration for his Sleeping Beauty Castle.Fact or fiction, it is utterly enchanting and even more so at night when brilliant floodlights illuminate the towers, making the effect even more powerful.

Western world has been dominated by Christian theology and had inspired wonderful architecture which is very unique and later dispersed in every corner of the world with Christianity. Prague is no different from rest of the Europe in terms of major Christian city and been designed and visioned by Catholics and Protestants. The city is full of many churches which attests Pragues historical and religious importance in past and present. On of the major church that will attract your sight in Old town square is the Church of Our Lady before Tyn. The Gothic architecture is really very cool and you can recognise that from the top of other building too. This is one of the most important church of the old town and still important part of locals. When I visited Prague in 2015, I tried to see every possible building. I didnt enter in this church as I met a new friend who advised me to go to Prague castle first and then to this church. I clicked few photographs, which I would like to share with you. I hope you will enjoy your vacation in Prague. Stay safe and wear your mask.

Must visit. Free entry. Would be more eye soothing if the front side wasn’t obstructed by local buildings.

I recommend going up in the clock tower across the square for even better views of the church (photo’s from there).

Awesome backdrop to the square and clocktower

As a lot of places in Old Town Square, you are wondering how on Earth they build such wonderful buildings back in the days, how they decorated them with such beautiful paintings and statues. I recommend, if you have the opportunity, to attend a concert of the Prague Philharmonic in this church (or other).

Outside is beautiful, but the inside isnt particularly unique. Its nice thats a free visit however, in comparison to the rest of the old town. No photos allowed inside

The distinct Gothic twin towers of this church are visible from large portion of old town area. The towers are very ornate with the signature Gothic spires that reached into the skies. It is almost as iconic to Prague as the Eiffel tower for Paris. Visitors are free to enter and visit during the day. It is amazing for a building of this size and scale to be built in 1400s. The furniture inside is Baroque in style, with intricate wood carving altars. There is also an antique organ in the church.

A beautiful church strangely situated behind some even older buildings.

Free entrance or rather voluntary entrance fee. The church is very beautiful, although not the prettiest to be found in Prague.

Beautiful church not far away from the famous Charles Bridge. The place fore it is quite small and therefore extremely crowded at any time.

Beautiful church. Highly recommend attending a concert here if available when you are visiting.

Very impressive church, it’s much worth taking a visit inside, it’s fit narrowly between buildings so you can’t see much of the outside, but in the inside it’s really impressive. The visit inside is free which is much appreciated, but you can voluntarily gift €1.5 for the renovation of the church

The church located right in old town square and there is beautiful view from the playground. Absolutely recommended in Prague.

Beautiful architecture, nice atmosphere during winter holiday time.

A beautiful building, but one of the coldest welcomes from a church. There are signs stating "no photos, no eating, no drinking, no touching and no talking". The seating is barriered off other than a few seats in a corner, theres no welcome for those wanting to pray. A genuinely quite depressing welcome despite the beauty all around.

Very interesting catholic church of the 13th century. Old, but beautiful.

Entrance to the church is free but you can’t give money as a charity to help the church. Inside of the church is for bidden to take photos but of course we didn’t hiding our phones and this is the only place where they didn’t allow us to take the photos at all. Usually they don’t allow to take photos like flash or they don’t allow it to take photos of some saints things. To answer the church must go through the passage in the building and make sure you check when the church is open and when the praying it’s not happening.

Very beautiful square. I recommended for the Christmas time

Beautiful Catholic Church in prague old city square

Breathtaking cathedral, immense and sacred and full of gorgeous art. My only question is why anyone could build a modern building onto the front of a medieval cathedral?

This church is architecturally beatiful. I went to a concert inside the curch and within 1 hour, while listening great music, I was able to look into the details inside the church. There are too many details and if you go for 5-10 minutes, it is hard to appreciate the beauty. Unfortunately visit is not allowed if there are prayer sessions or events. Considering it is built around 14. Century, details are impressive.

The exterior is one of the most recognisable views of the city of Prague and regardless of the lighting, it is a joy to behold.The interior is reached from the main square by a small corridor past the buildings of the façade. Inside one can see a beautiful Gothic church with mostly Baroque furnishings. One of the most fascinating things that can be seen in this place is the tomb of Tycho Brahe, who was one of the greatest astronomers of his age, and whose observations allowed his pupil Kepler to formulate the Laws of Planetary Motion

Once you reach the old town area the Church and its spires are one of the first things that you generally see. Looking around it is hard to see if there is an entrance. You need to go through a passageway in between the restaurants lining the Old Town Square at the base of the church. If you follow that to the end you end up at the entrance of the church. The church itself is quite beautiful on the inside. There is a path that goes around in an anti-clockwise direction so you circle the interior of the church. Just remember to put your phones on silent for people who are praying inside.

Beautiful historic church that can be easily seen from many areas of Old Town Square. We were there during Christmas, so it was especially pretty. We did not go inside for a church service as our schedule would not allow it.

I didn’t see the - Church of Our Lady before Týn - inside, but in the outside it looks amazing. Especially with this evening lighting. You can drink wine in nearby restaurant. It’s very climatic place in the Prague. You can buy souvenirs in nearby shops.

An utterly incredible landmark. Its just simply phenomenal to look at, by far my favourite building Ive even seen in person. The craftsmen ship on it is remarkable. Words just dont do it justice. Looks amazing both day and night. It gets really busy within the square where its located, especially at Christmas time as of the markets and the sheer volume of people. Worth a visit regardless, though. Be sure to take plenty of photos. It an astonishing building!

Simply put, its one of the most beautiful buildings in Praha. Tucked just off the main square, you can see it from miles away ... but there is only one entrance which is tucked down an alley between two bars and restaurants. Open between 3pm and 5pm , the interior is magnificent but no photographs can be taken inside at all. The spire on top inspired Walt Disney in his planning of the Disneyland castle. Once youve seen that , you will never be able to unsee it.

Tyn Church is the most visible landmark of old town. It looks wonderful during the day and even better at night when it is lit up. Late in the evening after the crowds have gone, it looks like one of the Disney structures. The inside of the church is also very beautiful. Absolutely must see on your Prague visit.

Set upon the lovely Old Town Square is the fairy tale-like building known as the Church of the Virgin Mary Before Tyn. This church with its remarkably decorated towers boasting gothic spires is an iconic landmark in Prague, something well worth a couple dozen clicks of your camera.This church was originally built during the 14th and 15th century. However, fire damage forced repair work to be done during the late 17th century. Much of main nave was reconstructed in Baroque style while parts of the original and earlier Gothic style were preserved, resulting in an intriguing mix of the two architectural styles.From the outside, the Church of Virgin Mary Before Tyn is one of those buildings that you always remember. In addition to being beautiful during the daytime, the church is covered by floodlights at nighttime, offering an equally impressive night viewing of the church and another reason to visit the Old Town Square for more picture taking.If you visit the interior of the church, youll find that it is also quite beautifully and ornately decorated. Unfortunately, picture taking is not allowed inside but it is at least the church is free to visit, which is not always the case with church visits in Prague. We spent around 30 minutes inside but could have spent longer if we hadnt had a long list of other attractions we wanted to see on the day.In the end, it is best to add this one to your list of must-see attractions when visiting Prague. You wont help but notice the Church of Virgin Mary Before Tyn when you enter the Old Town Square. However, it’s well worth a bit of your time to walk in and see the beautiful interior as well.

Another beautiful architecture and another church at the old town..we didnt had the chance to go inside but it looks impressive from outside..You can take good pictures and add to your memories as you wonder arround in Prague city.

First night i arrived in Prague i was wondering around lost when i stumbled upon this beautiful church, there was a man playing classical music on a beautiful piano lit up with fairy lights and another man creating giant bubbles with a piece of rope for children to chase and play with. Was a magical experience for my first night and i will never forget it.

Another wonderful landmark in the Old Town. Both Towers reach 80m high each with 8 pointed spires.

ASTONISHINGLY BEAUTIFUL CATHEDRAL! While it is a little underwhelming on the outside, the inside is amazing!There are plentiful of alters, statues and plaques decorated around the church. The most i’ve seen so far.One thing is, no photography is allowed but i couldn’t resist it!
