Outstanding food, dont think it could have been improved upon. Really very impressed. Service had a hiccup and they sorted it swiftly, which is all you can ask.

What a beautiful place for an evening drink in the very pretty garden, in a gorgeous part of the country! Well definitely be coming back to sample the menu that my friend has recommended!

Had a delicious lunch and extensive menu makes choosing difficult. Lovely atmosphere inside but if sunny can sit in lovely back garden.

Had lunch there for Fathersday and invited 4 friends. This was my 4th visit. As they say, you are only as good as your last meal served. Veggies and potatos was burned. Meat was tough, souce was tasteless and watery, the horseradish tasted like strong mustard. The stickey toffy and pear pie puddings was so dry, we almost chocked on it. Unfortunately not a place to take your friends to.

Beautiful food, excellently prepared and presented with very generous helpings. Very friendly and attentive service. It was a great pleasure to have dined at The Church House Inn. I would heartily recommend the two dishes I chose, a starter of 5 meatballs with cherry tomatoes followed by pork loin steaks accompanied by black pudding slices with apple, potato cake, mixed vegetables side and a wonderful blue cheese sauce.

The good. Beautiful pub, wonderful location and reasonably priced nice drinks. But, given it was the jubilee weekend they were rammed and only 2 bar staff on! Given they were hosting a special event surely the management could have forseen the numbers they would attract? Loads of people were queing at the bar only to see, I presume locals, turning up, shouting their orders and being served in front of those patiently waiting, by one of the bar staff. The young lady was working her socks off though. Didnt seem to be any atmosphere inside, yet in contrast, outside was lovely. Love music and food being cooked i think. Im sure on a normal day the atmosphere would be different but I can only review on my experience which wasnt great Im afraid.

Visited 26th May 2022.What a find!Warm welcome from well organised friendly staff.Food was excellent - we had the omelette, and vegan lasagne.Drifted into this place as our usual eating place was closed.Church House will now be our new eat out favourite.Thanks to all, plus our compliments to the chef.

Not Been there for a while so wasnt sure what to expect. Good food had the pumpkin ravioli, very delicious 🤤 and very filling. Very good experience 👍

A lovely old building in an attractive village setting; this is the kind of place that everyone wants to have near home. The menu is interesting; the food is of excellent quality and the service is friendly and efficient. Marldon is only about 10 minutes outside Paignton, so its well worth a visit if you want to escape from the deep-fried fast food that seems to be the main offering in the town centre.

Another lovely meal here. For Starters we had mackerel Pate with gooseberry chutney, absolutely scrummy with brown and white toast. Mains were omelette and chips for husband and I had ham, egg and chips. Both mains had lovely dressed salad. Pudding was ice cream for husband and the lightest sticky toffee pudding ever.All food beautifully fresh, great service too

This place is great. We stumbled upon it after staying at the local campsite of Widdecombe Farm for the past few years. Staff where extremely pleasant, chatty and really great to get along with. The pub garden was excellent...what a sun trap for an April lunch.....who knows what the rest of the year will be like....sun trap galore.Their section of local ales where great, and the wine menu excellent. The food choices where brilliant, the specials board was excellent, plenty of choice dor veggies which is always a bonus. We cannot wait until our next visit, thanks to a wonderful team for making it memorable.

Great place. Quaint, quiet and lovely surroundings in Marldon village/countryside. The interior is classic English inn. Cosy. With roaring fires (albeit gas and electricand plenty of dark wood beams and rafters. When it comes to fine dining, there are few rivals locally. The beauty is in the simplicity of the fare; e.g. what English man is not familiar with sausage and mash or leg of lamb? The Church House chefs can take such run of the mill grub and cook it to such high standard. Beautiful. The same goes for the desserts. An extensive wine list rounds off its status as a top notch eatery. My only worry is that it has now become part of a chain (or at least a conglomerate group of inns, including the Railway, Brixham and the Pig and Whistle towards Totnes). I just hope such a measure will not mean a loss of standards or uniqueness in the future. But for now, the Church House Inn is still one of the best around.

Came here after a tip from Kaywana Hall in Kingswear that recommended it, think we must have been unlucky as we were seated in the main bar area which has zero ambience due to very bright lighting which basically put a dampener on the evening. The Cott & Thatched Tavern good local examples of smarter bar areas with good lighting.

Used to be lovely here.Not got the same friendly atmosphere.Food not that great but expensive for what you get served .

We popped in for lunch today and were really impressed; the Halloumi fries were perfectly cooked, the lentil cottage pie was full of flavour, warmed me up a treat after a cold stroll along a beach, and my partners chicken and mushroom pie was lovely. Lovely cosy atmosphere and friendly staff, we will definitely visit again when were back in the area!

Excellent food, drink and staff. I have visited many time. I recommend the Church House Inn with reservation. Cant wait to go back.

Lovely restaurant, very friendly staff and excellent food.

My Son booked a meal for 19th as we were visiting him before Christmas. We had a lovely meal, the service was first class and waitresses were very attentive. Look forward to calling in again, on our next visit.

Sunday Lunch today at the Church House, big thank you to all the lovely staff involved there was 10 of us plus the 3 meals you also boxed up for us to give to my Daughter and Grandchildren as they had to isolate. The meals were superb and the atmosphere was lovely, also a big thank you to Polly who went above and beyond to make our Family gathering happen at short notice. Thank you all

Excellent place. Lovely service, fantastic wine list. The pate starter was mediocre at best, sliced white warburtons bread toasted and soldiered the pate cash and carry not made in house. However the Ribeye steak and chips was first class perfectly cooked and succulent

We had a family lunch in the upstairs room. The food was excellent. Friendly staff. For such events they will ask you to order food in advance.

The food we ordered ranged from decent to absolutely top-notch. Calamari wasnt the best Ive had but the hake builbasse was mouthwateringly delicious. Very pleasant garden. Maybe time to retire the "Devon Dining Pub of The Year" sign from 2013, or up the game a bit to try and win it again!

2nd visit , as loved it so much last year. The flatbread and dips is to die for which is why I had it for a second time, hubby had smoked salmon salad and our daughter had the childrens chicken nuggets and chips. Dessert we had a cheese board to share and chocolate fudge brownie and all food was thoroughly enjoyed , planning our next trip for next year .

Been to the Church House Inn twice in the last three days. Lovely setting within a beautiful village. Nice country pub setting. Friendly bar/waitress staff very polite and welcoming. The food well all I can say is AMAZING. Not yr standard pub food. The menu is not so extensive as to make decisions difficult but enough to have a choice. They also have a restaurant area as well. We ate in the bar as we have dogs which was no problem. Also plenty of outdoor space on lawned areas. Would definitely recommend treating yourself to a meal here you won’t be disappointed.

We called in for a snack. The Inn looked fantastic and was lovely inside. The staff were really nice. The food was not good, we ordered flatbread and dips. The Baba Ganoush was a mushy and tasteless the bowl of chips were full of grease as if fat not hot enough and served in what looked like a dog bowl. We have not been out since Covid so we thought it would be a treat. Unfortunately not, the Gin was wonderful though! We should have said something but the staff were lovely but not a place I would revisit.

My wife and I were staying with her sister and brother-in-law in Torquay for a few days, and her sister booked us all in for dinner on Friday 23rd July.We were all warmly welcomed and shown to our delightful table which was table one.The service, and food that we received, were second to none.I cannot praise the Church House Inn highly enough, and would recommend it to anyone. Cant wait to visit again. A hidden gem.

Fantastic food. Went there by mistake, thinking wed booked somewhere else, but it was a brilliant error. Really lovely, well definitely be back as weve just moved to the area and this is our favourite place so far!

Stunning venue, beautiful garden and wonderful service. We shall be back to try the menu.

Incredible pub and meal. Feel very lucky to have discovered it. The curry was delicious. As were the mussels. And the sticky toffee pudding was a great way to end the meal.

Thank you so much to the lovely people that run this place. I have only eaten inside one other time since Feb due to COVID worries. The other time was awful!Here was fantastic. Plenty of space, and staff striking the all important balance between safety and extending a friendly welcome. All this alongside the normal fantastic food and wine list.They made my Dads 86th birthday a good time for all of us.Thanks Church House, and see you again soon.

Wow. Great old place. Well appointed. Excellent well prepared food. Reasonably easy access. Front of house cant do enough for you. Thank you for helping to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Superb!

Lovely pub in a lovely location. The services are swift and very friendly. I had mussels last week, loved the food and location so much, we went again for lunch today. The chicken terrine is flavoursome and my husbands oven baked salmon is fresh and tasty, the NY cheesecake is moreish. We will go back for more!

I went here with a good friend to celebrate some good news, the decor is traditional with local artists work displayed and for sale which I think is great. The staff were very helpful, friendly and didn’t rush us. parking was a bit tricky because it was so full, next time we might go in one car. The food was amazing, although you would expect it to be at the prices they were. Just to clarify, the food and prices were in line with each other, but for me, this is definitely a treat place to go when I’m feeling flush 😅 would definitely recommend.

Good food, helpful staff and great atmosphere. We visited for a 75th birthday in December and while there was a fairly large Christmas party there at the same time, it wasnt intrusive and we still received excellent service. I have awkward dietary requirements, and the staff not only remembered from the booking, but also were able to tell me what I was able to eat wothout it being a big deal. Food was excellent, we left completely stuffed and very happy.

Went for a family meal Easter Sunday. Really impressed with all of our meals, meat was cooked to perfection as were the vegetables. I thought considering the quality the prices were reasonable. They’ve definitely found some new customers! Lovely atmosphere upstairs, possibly too many stairs for older customers. A little gem in beautiful surroundings:)

Lovely food with a good selection of dishes and specials, very well cooked. Couple of nice draught beers and a range of wines.Pleasant service to boot.The garden round the back is perfect for an afternoon beer or two.Update: we had Sunday dinner here this time and it was fantastic. Highly recommended.
