Classy bar/eatery with a casual vibe offering locally sourced, refined steak entrees & global wines.
One of my favorite restaurant in Banff! Food was top notch! Excellent service. Staffs are friendly! Great location. Beautiful restaurant. Perfect for date night.
I visit here once every year for any special occasions. Every time i visit i get to have amazing experience. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is exceptional!I hope the price stop rising! So that I can afford and visit again!
We did a Caesar salad and the taste of Alberta and we were not disappointed. It came with two sides and could feed 2-3 people easily. Temperature of steak was perfect and flavorful! Caesar salad is a must- not your traditional Caesar but packed with flavor! Pricier food place since you’re in Banff but it was a great meal! I would definitely come back.
Place was beautiful, food was great, staff were attentive. However not overly knowledgeable of the different cuts of steak. When we asked about different cuts and what we specifically wanted, server recommended a cut that was not at all what we had wanted. We brought it to her attention and she was very apologetic and they made sure to compensate us a bit. The bill was over $400. So I was glad they even offered to try and make the experience pleasant. I highly recommend this steakhouse just know your meat!
If you love steak Chucks is the right place for you. While the ambiance is very loud, a negative... the food quality and choice of offerings is excellent. The wait staff is attentive without being obtrusive. If I had known about the noise level I would have brought earplugs. Otherwise, while expensive, we enjoyed our meal a bunch.
We had a lovely dinner here. Taste of Alberta was amazing and so was the mud pie! Cam was a great server (: would recommend anyone visiting Banff to come try it out!
Overall the dining experience was alright. What we had ordered was the crab cake and shrimp cocktail as appetizers, they were alright, nothing special. As for the entree, we had the taste of Alberta which was 3 7oz steaks of the benchmark, 45 day aged and the wagyu. This would be the go to option if you wanted to sample different steaks. The cook on the steaks were supposed to be medium rare but they were a bit under cooked, which didn’t bother us. The taste of the steaks was pretty good overall, nothing too spectacular. As for the side dishes we got the mash and the sautéed mushrooms, these were ok as well. The service was pretty good throughout the service, improved periodically after what we ordered, like all restaurants in Banff, they all have that pretentious attitude. If you are visiting Banff and wanted to eat good in a nice setting, I’d recommend it as a potential option. Last disclaimer like all things in Banff, expect to pay a slight premium due to the tourist aspect of the location. The views from the restaurant are pretty nice too.
What a great meal. Get a reservation and ask for a window seat. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine and some steak. Staff was great and the place was clean. Nice views of the street and mountains.
Very nice steak restaurant. We had the taste of Alberta (great for 2 peopleand the beef dumplings as appetiser. The dumplings are mix of Asian style of dumplings (in shape), with Canadian flavours. As side dishes I really recommend the creamy courgette and the potato dauphinois.Great for a special occasion whilst visiting Banff.
Fantastic servers, top notch food and creative cocktails to be had at Chucks! If you get there early you can ask to be seated on the patio (weather cooperating in the summer months)… the 360 mountain view from the rooftop patio is stunning, and adds something beyond compare. Thanks for the great evening!
I ordered the taste of Alberta with pan fried mushroom and potato gratin, 2 glasses of Cabernet sauvignon, Caramel cheese cake and Milkn honey. I asked for medium cooked steak and it cooked perfectly, but all three chunks of steaks had lots of muscles in them, so it was very chewy. Me and mom had no choice to spit them out. Potato gratin tasted very salty. Pan fired mushroom was delicious. Server was friendly and attentive. Wine and dessert were good. Ask for the window seats when you book the table, then you can enjoy food in mountain view.
our waiter was friendly and professional, but the steaks...honestly the most disappointed resto in banff, probably cause we had such high expectations. we ordered the taste of alberta but it doesnt taste alberta and tenderness is also lacking. maybe we should try the ribeye next time. the sides (mushroom and asparaguswere actually pretty good. just for comparison, we went to Vintage steakhouse in calgary the week after and the steaks tasted much more alberta :).
Food was fine but the service made all the difference. If its Alberta beef that youre after youll be well-taken care of here!
Lovely steak house. View was so beautiful. Nice mountain and sunset. Also steaks were wonderful!! I ordered 3 meals. Steak frites, burger and prime rib. All of things are very delicious and so good!! And also staffs are very kind and have nice manner!!
We stopped over for steak on our first day at Banff. The waiters and waitresses were extremely polite and real. The service was impeccable. We ended up ordering their 7oz tasting of steak menu (3 kinds of steaks); and we thought that be good for us three (two adults and a first gradebut the meat ended up being a bit too chewy for us. When we told that to the waitress, she offered to switch our steak to something else, also offering to serve us new two side dishes hot again (which came with the tasting menu). We were so pleasantly surprised by this hospitality and so we decided to switch to tenderloin (8oz)We expected the bill to have the tastingmenu price (159CADbut they just charged us for the tenderloin instead; which was cheaper! We were so so happy and surprised. Asked why, they said, “they just want the customer to be totally happy and satisfied!” I highly recommend it to people looking for steak. Steak is juicy, and tasty. The sides are great. Thanks so much for giving us a one of a kind memorable banff experience!
Delicious food and amazing staff! Our waiter explained the menu with such detail and dedication I wanted to order the entire menu. His recommendation with drinks were also on point. Forgot his name but he was born and raised here in banff and very proud of it!
Really good of grill beef. Look expensive on menu, 3 of family spent $150 . One beef , burger and dessert. We were full and happy .Very good service as well.
Visited this restaurant during our small vacation in Banff. Wanted to try Alberta beef since its talked all over and significantly better than what we have in Toronto. Delicious food, great service and great rooftop as well.Make a reservation in advance ($20 deposit online needed)
What a perfect restaurant. Would recommend to indulge with the wagyu. Mushrooms were 11/10.
Had a fantastic meal at Chuck’s on Friday night. The taste of Alberta was a great option to try everything we wanted, the sides were great and the service was bar none. No complaints, would absolutely recommend!
An upscale steakhouse that is in the heart of Banff, which has definitely served me some of the best steak I’ve ever had. It has large windows that keep you in a good mood due to both the natural light, as well as a nice view no matter where you’re seated at. The decor felt modern, and the leather menus were also a nice touch. The nitpicks I have is that the asparagus side was a bit lacking in terms of quantity. Additionally we originally wanted the popular “Taste of Alberta” menu item, which had samplers of three different steaks with sides included, however we were told it just ran out since they needed more time to prepare those particular cuts. Yet the backup option suggested by our waiter still ended up being great!
Recommended by a friend as ‘best ribs’ they’ve ever had in their life. I can confirm, they were indeed, the best ribs I’ve ever had. Incredible service from Cam, the waiter, who was more than happy to share knowledge of his favourite spots in Vancouver. Really relaxed but smart vibe in the restaurant. Best meal out in Banff.
Food and drinks here are amazing. We came back 2 nights later to eat here again. The steaks are wonderful and the ceaser salad is made table side and is the Best I have ever had. Our server Steve made the most amazing Cesar salad!
First class steakhouse. First class service. Had the waygu, 45 day dry aged, cowboy cuts… excellent, perfectly cooked. Sides are excellent too. Pricey but being first class, its worth it
Unfortunately I was only able to try the dumpling there as I was too full from the day. My girlfriend had the Long Cod and she loved it. We will definitely be back to try this place out again!
Great place for dinner in Banff. We had the fillet and a French onion soup, which was served with actual marrow on the side with croutes. The soup had a nice beef flavour. The mashed potatoes had cheese curds in them which I loved! The staff is friendly as well. For dinner you’re best to make a reservation in advance. We walked in and were only able to get an early dinner seating.
Decided to dine in after reading all the good reviews online. However the steaks were very disappointing and the lobster fried rice was a joke. We tried the Taste of Alberta and let me tell you, this is not how Alberta beef is suppose to taste like. Supermarkets sell better beef than this. I feel like it is a tourist trap. The food was over-priced for the taste.
Very delicious steaks, I ordered the Taste of Alberta (Wagyu, Benchmark, and Dry Agewith my friend and although quite expensive it will probably be the best meal you’ll ever have if you’re a meat lover! The sides and wine were good too, solid service.
After a long drive to and back from Abraham Lake, this place definitely fills you up! Food quality is good and service is friendly and personal. They forgot to ask how our steaks are done and after we asked for it they mixed up our asks. But it doesnt stop us loving the food!
We did the Alberta Tasting of 3 steaks - super yummy. If striploin is your thing and youre sharing with someone, do this because youll at least get to taste a few types.. Including the expensive wagyu and the flavourful dry aged. Out of the 3 I think wagyu was the best. It also comes with two sides (the mashed was excellent with cheese, the house salad), and a jus (which was great with the mashed).Cam was great as our server. He was held up with another table but was polite to come over and apologized for the wait. Our drinks were compd as a result, which is classy. Would come again since I really wanna do a shared steak situation again.
Both Tommy and Stu helped us navigate the menu to choose an UNFORGETTABLE dinner. The Grade 9 Australian Wagyu along with the Benchmark Ribeye were two very different yet equally delicious cuts of meat. This paired with the Steak Tartare as a starter and Potato Gratin plus Creamed Spinach for sides… WOW. Everything else from here on out is going to taste plain.
Foods quite good for the price you pay and the portions are very reasonable so that I didnt feel too full by the end of the meal.
My husband and I returned to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We ordered 45-day dry aged cut, it came out slightly overcooked (it was still very deliciousand our server handled it very well. Very pleasant experience. 5 stars to him. We didn’t catch his name, he is from Ontario and a fan of maple leafs 😂. We were there Sunday Feb 13, 6-8pm.
An extremely inviting atmosphere, exceptional friendly service, and exquisite food. The 45 day strip loin literally melts like creamy butter in your mouth. I have never encountered such a good steak anywhere else. Thanks so much. Don’t faint when you see the price. As my son said it is all about the experience! What an experience it was. Well worth the price of admission. Loved every bite.
Had a lovely meal here. The steak was great, no complaints. We tried the Taste of Alberta which gave a variety of 3 cuts, which was nice to try a few options. The service and the interior decor was great as well. The only negative might be a design accessibility issue, as there is a large staircase to get into the restaurant as it is on the second floor.
Ate here on our 2nd night of our trip, the ambiance at the restaurant is so inviting. The staff were all great, specifically our server Cam. He went above and beyond. It was unusually cold in Banff and the heater at the window couldn’t keep up so he brought me a cup of hot water to warm up my hands. The steak you ask!? Oh the steak! It was perfection, you could cut it with a butter knife. Even cold the next day I could cut it with a butter knife. We had the dry aged T-Bone and it was so flavourful. The steak is the real hero so I get why the sides were just okay. The gratin was good but not great and the mushrooms were super oily although they were tasty. One suggestion would be to offer a smaller dry aged cut, 26oz is A LOT of beef for one person! I didn’t know until after we had ordered that we could have asked them to plate it and slice it to share. Oh well! I know for next time! There will definitely be a next time!
Probably one of the best meals Ive ever had. Shared a 16oz ribeye steak, shrimp, and lobster rice. Best service Ive ever experienced, had an amazing waitress that made sure our drinks were always full.
Came to Chuck’s Steakhouse for their ribeye wagyu and it was amazing. Truly melts in your mouth. We got the best service from our server Claire, she also gave us some recommendations of activities to do in Banff during our stay. Highly recommend coming here for a nice steak dinner!!!
Listen youre gonna be spending a lot of money but it is worth every penny. Get the Canadian waygu it was the best steak my girlfriend and I have ever had Im telling you! The wedge is a great starter as well and we got sautéed mushrooms that were a perfect pairing with the incredible steak. Our server was amazing I wish I remembered his name he had and australian accent and he recommended these amazing drinks! We also got the oysters that were perfect size and even richer in flavor. Definitely go here if you want the best steak of your life with incredible service!
By far the best Steak available in Banff and area. Love that you get the entire experience here with well knowledged staff and great food. A must have is the Mud Pie dessert!
We had the " Taste For Adventure " 3 course menu which only offered in this month until Nov 28, 2021. Great food and service. Highly recommend.
I had the Taste of Alberta with 3 kinds of beef and it was absolutely amazing!! My personal favourite is the Wagyu beef. Cooked perfectly, the salad was light with a grapefruit vinaigrette dressing, the potatoes amazing.Casey was an amazing server! She was so tentative and very knowledgeable with great recommendations. I’ll definitely be back!
best steakhouse in Banff!! we ordered the 45 day dry aged cut, simply delicious, juicy, tender and very tasty! cocktails are good too, I tried the smoked observation peak with rum. Service is great!, although I would have preferred the server to slow down a bit, she wanted us to order the food within few minutes of getting the drinks, same for the bill, she seemed too rushed that brought the bill right after removing the plates and so she did the for the tables around us.. let people take your time to drink, eat and enjoy this amazing place..
One of the best steak experiences we experienced. The sear on the steak was perfection. The Mother of Earl cocktail was amazing and a great choice if your not sure what to drink
I enjoyed my time dining at Chucks Steakhouse. I followed my friends who arrived earlier, so I ordered a burger so it would come out quick. The burger was very well made. The meat patty was as thick as it can get and the serving size was huge. My friends had a nice order of steak. Our group also had an order of asparagus with special sauce, and that too was something very special. There are lots too love about the place. The ambience and decor was very homey. The servers were good conversationalists. The only bad thing I can comment on was that the menu is a bit on the pricey end which is well warranted considering the overall premium dining experience you can get to enjoy.
I had trouble making reservations online for it was a busy long weekend Sunday night in Banff and I had tried to call and leave a message but unfortunately never heard back. My husband and I decided to walk in and was able to get seats outside. Outside you get great views of the mountain. Our server Cam was AMAZING! Loved his personality and recommendations. He was very personable and funny. Our food was also delicious, flavourful and filling. Would eat here again
All the waiters/waitress including our waiter Tommy is just so great, friendly and very attentive!! Best service we have had anywhere! The food is tasty and very well-balanced. I enjoyed the broccolini and salad just as much as I enjoyed all the variety of steaks! Definitely recommended!
Great steakhouse in Banff with amazing varieties of beef cuts for large groups. We tried Tenderloin steaks with pan fried mushrooms and potato gratin. I wish they had more options for a small group or a single portion. Warm apple and pearl crumble was really delicious too.
Elevated steak restaurant serving high quality steaks. Had the Wagyu ribeye which was very flavourful. Service was great too - wait staff very knowledgeable about the various steak options and can make great recommendations depending on your party size and what youre looking for.
Hands-down the best restaurant we went to between Banff and Jasper. The 45-day dry aged steak was cooked perfectly. The lobster rice was definitely my favourite part. It was extremely savoury and not too heavy. Everything else was also very delicious.
