Christ's Resurrection Church - Church in Kaunas, Lithuania
Very impressive and modernist style church. Looking up, to the grey sky of Kaunas, this brutal building stands out as a monument - and has an emotional effect on me. Definitely recommend to visit.
Impressive
A beautiful place to watch the city from the top of the church, impressive architecture ❤️
I don’t write church reviews generally but building-wise this one is exceptionally gorgeous. So light yet so firm, very white and very open. You can go upstairs to see the view over the city for €2.5 if you take the elevator and €1.5 if you take the stairs
Nice church with a really peaceful atmosphere.
Fantastic, monumental place not only for the belivers.
Climbed to the roof of a church. It was a nice view of Kaunas
One of the interesting places that a lot of tourists visit. It is located on the hill so you can see it from many places in the city. Apart from seeing the exterior and interior you can get on the roof (for a feeand look at the city panorama sprawling around you. There is an elevator as well as stairs to the top.
very beautiful inside, be sure to climb to the top of the lift 🛗 3 € ticket 🎟 there will be a beautiful view of the city but I was not lucky in the weather, but everything was exactly full of views and took interesting photos
A must visit place in Kaunas. Very nice church with an observation deck on the roof where you can enjoy panoramic view of the whole city.
The observation deck is interesting but the views are mediocre: the best one is blocked by part of basilica itself. Check out the opening time beforehand — we got there early and had to wait.
Lovely place...could see all Kaunas from top of the building..
New era church, very simple and casual inside and outside. Nice views of Kaunas from the roof.
This Place is Very Nice...Trust me
The view from the roof is so beautiful.
Very high standards. Had christening here on the roof. Everything went super ok.
Roof access is 1.50 euro via stairs and 2 euro via lift. The panoramic view on the roof is breathtaking. And the amazing thing is that ghost-like building on the right hand side will be teared down and lofts will be built over next year, so it wont ruin the view. There are also wooden foldable chairs, so I assume mass takes place on the roof terrace on special occasions. Church is very protestant-like inside, although it is catholic.
The view was incredible, but the lady which sells tickets is awful, angry, and disrespectful. Its a shame that this type of women works in Christs church
Definitely worth a visit if visiting Kaunas, the church is very minimalist. Head for the roof for fantastic views of the city.
How do you even rate a place like this? Its definitely worth seeing but Im mixed as to the reasons why. The building is to my tastes absolutely hideous. If Stalin had ever built a Church it would have something similar. People state the view from the tower is great, I was so struck by the monstrous outlook I forgot to go! The interior is pointlessly austere, close to no decorations apart from a few icons...
It has rooftop from which you can see big areas of city Kaunas.
The church is very massive and ascetic. There is almost no decorations inside. But the architecture is very good. Unfortunately the view from the terrace isnt good especially in winter, thats why I cut one star.
Its a church with tourist attraction. You can pay to go on top of it and there you have a view of the city
Very nice church! But as long as I am a huge atheist I‘ll prefer to see a night club in that building :).
Buy the ticket downstairs and get to the top to enjoy the nice scenery of Kaunas. The ticket is cheaper if you want to take the stairs, but do not be afraid as the climb is not that hard. During cold and windy days you might find icy patches on the top - be careful!
The hall is very plain and stark, but the view from the roof is pretty cool. Its only 1.50 or 2.50 depending on whether you walk or take the elevator. Be careful of the wind up there
Clean architecture and stunning views from the observation
Stunningly beautiful Art Deco church in Kaunas. As well as visiting the interior you can take a lift or stairs to the roof of the building for some great views across the city (the church itself is already on a hill which can be climbed by using the nearby funicular - though this was in late 2018 out of action due to a fire).
The Church (Basilicaof the Resurrection of Christ (in Lithuanian: Kauno mūsų Viešpaties Jėzaus Kristaus Prisikėlimo bazilikais the largest basilica church in the Baltic states. On the roof there is an observation deck. Climbing the stairs costs 1.2 €, on the elevator - 2.4 € (My Boss said on the day of the visit it was closed to us)@aiko_traveler
Beautiful and modern church. Recommend visiting at least once. Has a panorama on the top.
A great view over Kaunas city from the rooftop
The church is modern, and every sound is amplified so be very quiet when you enter. You can take the elevator to the roof of the church for a wonderful view of the city. Breathtaking!
There is a very nice view from up here, worth the small cost for going up.
Stunning views from the top of the tower. For 2,40 Euros you can reach it by using stairs or taking a lift.
Perfect church with a magnificent view from its roof, which means you can take stunning selfies or just photos of the beautiful view of Kaunas.
The church and its history are a really interesting part of Kaunas, and the upper platform offers views like no other place.
The views up there were great! Really impressive huge church. And its right next to the funicular which was also nice.
Awesome example of constructivist or modernist architecture. The story of the cathedral is even better
Stunning masterpiece of modern archicecture. Even more impressive when you know that it was funded by nation - donating a brick was matter of honor to anyone. Finished only after Lithania regained freedom. Soviets have turned this sacred place into factory....
An interesting church of the beginning of the 20th century. It worths a visit and there is also the possibility to enjoy the view from the top of the tower. The paintings of Jususs passion are interesting.
From this place you have a great view over the city. Male sure you go all the way to the roof to get a good view.
Great, big modest church. Ask for elevator to get to the roof. Nice sightseeing of all the city :)
Semi interesting church with a terrace (10 floors highwhere you can climb up the stairs for €1.20 or take the lift for 2.40€. views of Kauna from the top are a bit underwhelming. Church interior should make interesting Instagram photos (?!But a bit bare as well. No explanations in English.
A modern, huge basilica. I really liked its simple interior. You can climb to its nice teracce from where the whole city can be seen. There is a nice chapel on the terrace dedicated to Holy Mary.
Awesome view. Just charging 2.40e insteam of 1.20 just to use a lift I think a bit funny. Hope this money goes to upkeep this amazing looking church.
The largest Basilica type church in the Baltic States is a symbol of the heritage of interwar Lithuania. In was not completed until 1940, so the soviets established here a semi-military Radio Factory. As a guide, I always tell how we, the young „pioneers“ were semi-forced to work here after school hours. After 1989, Kaunas residents demolished inside partitions of production workshops, demolished the fence and restored the church. Today it has status of Basilica. It is popular among believers, including young families. And you can get married on the roof! There is a chapel on the terrace. If you don’t want to get married, you can just admire the panoramic view. The ticket to the elevator costs 2,40 euro (half the price for disabled, seniors and schoolchildren), but if you take the steps, you pay just 1,20 euro (and schoolboys and schoolgirls only 0,30 euro// Kauno Kristaus Prisikėlimo bazilika yra baltasis Kauno simbolis matomas iš visų miesto pusių, nuo Aleksoto iki Šilainių. Kaip gidas visada atkreipiu dėmesį Šią didžiausią bazilikinę bažnyčią Baltijos šalyse suprojektavo architektas Karolis Reisonas, netoli Rygos gimęs latvis ir tuo pačiu vienas žymiausių Kauno modernizmo atstovų. Impressive.... and very particular modern church.
Stunning beauty! Renovated in the recent years, in very modern, contemporary style. Peace settles on ones shoulders when entered into the premises. There is an option to go up onto the roof and view city from the observation balcony.
Absolutely lovely church, if you can make it to the top of the tower, there are incredible views of Kaunas and the entire region!
Stunning modernist church. The outside pales to the beauty of the inside. Clean & elegant. A must-see.
