First time here and wow so good!!I got the curry goat, very good portion size. Would totally recommend.
MoreI went in not expecting anything because I hadnt seen the reviews. Glad I checked it out because the meal, which consisted of rice, beans, plantains and chicken curry, was so good that it reminded me of the dishes i tried in my travels in Latin America
MoreGot the oxtail and it was great. The staff are super friendly :)
Good Carribean food, been here a few times over the years when craving jerk chicken. They have some of the best jerk chicken in all of Toronto. One downside is around lunchtime (between 12-2 PMit gets quite busy and sometimes there are long lines but otherwise good for the portion they serve and the price they sell it at (usually between $10-15 but some can go up to $20). I recently had the Jerk chicken breast poutine and it was very good, liked the gravy on it as well. Will return shortly.
MoreFirst time trying this place and it was exceptional. The taste was something I’ve never tasted before. I can definitely tell there was a lot of love put into the food and was consistent all times I went. Would highly recommend this place. Amazing food amazing people!!!
MoreWas disappointed when I ordered a serving of fry plantains and the girl taking the order told me they had none, yet there was about 20 plantian on the back counter ready to be peeled and fried. My husband ordered a meal and what was inside fry plantains. Ended up ordering a serving of jerk chicken and it was dried almost to a point were it was over cooked. The customer service in this place can be updated. Terribly disappointed after so many people told me this was a good place to eat.
MoreIt aint pretty but it sure is delicious. The smile factor when having this was high. Best be enjoy slowing, like real slow. To sum the experience cue the music "It Was a Good Day - Ice Cube". The Jerk sauce and the crispy chicken was perfect. Fries were not too soggy and had the right amount of crisp to them. A must to have when you visit Chris jerk.
MoreThis place usually has a lineup and for good reason. Food is great, the portions you get are massive. With numerous menu items to choose from. You cant go wrong with Chris Jerk.
MorePlace js absolute trash, girl working in front has the most annoying look like she doesnt want to work there, that would be okay if the food was worth it but its not . Quality has gotten so bad now, rice has these weird beans, no brocolli, give you cabbage instead, the gravy is bland as hell. bun this place
MoreGreat place to visit for a tasty reliable meal. Plenty of options, great presentation and decent prices. Overall a good place for lunch or dinner. Guaranteed to leave happy.
MoreThe Jerk Chicken and Shawarma tastes great!I wasnt expecting much since our uncle brought me here to try it out. This is the best jerk chicken Ive tried. The chicken is so flavorful and then you top it off with the creamy hot sauce and you get an excellent mealIll definitely come back when I can
MoreWe visited this place for a quick lunch during a weekday and were pleasantly surprised by the inflow of people at this spot. Their food is spot on and very much worth-it for the price you spend. Portion sizes are huge and the flavours are just perfect. We ordered the jerk chicken shawarma and the shawarma poutine, both of which were very hearty meals. 10/10 experience!
MoreWhile working decided to give Chris Jerk a try, very undecided as Ive never had jerk chicken before (I know I know, how did I ever survive 34 years on this planet without trying it at least onceI played it safe and got the poutine.Good lord was it not the greatest thing Ive ever tasted! The portion was so large I ended up bringing it home and letting my husband try this magnificent creation.Their hot sauce is also one of the best Ive ever had! So flavourful and paired so well with the dish.I live about 1.5 hrs from the location but I swear the next time Im craving a poutine THE JERK CHICKEN SHWARMA is the place Im going to!
MoreGreat food and price. Over the years have tried the curry goat, beef oxtail, shawarma chicken, jerk chicken, and jerk chicken breast, and some sides. Food and service has always been great. Definitely will be a regular take out place for me.Normally, I give a 5 star if everything is good. I just want to make it explicit that this place really gives value for your money and tastes really good!
MoreI had the jerk pork meal and hubby had their curry goat meal. It is only for takeout and delivery. Quite busy when we got there but our order was ready at a very reasonable time. The spices and portions were on point. Going to try their other dishes next time. Oh yes there will be a next time!
MoreAbsolutely delicious as always. I have been away for a couple years and the flavours make me drool for more. Oxtail dinners, Jerk Shwarmas, coleslaw and plantain. Homemade pepper sauce 🔥👌😋 Worth every penny. Thank you Mr. N Mrs. Chris Jerk! Thank you Vince & and the bistro crew! I could eat this everyday.God bless you all.
MoreEXCELLENT. Best Jamaican food in all of the GTA hands down!
Chris Jerk is absolutely incredible. This is by far the best Caribbean food I have ever eaten. The jerk chicken is fantastic. I always get the jerk chicken shawarma poutine and it will change your life. Everyone needs to check this place out, it is worth the drive.
MoreMade the detour on our way to Toronto from Ottawa and worth the extra travel time. Chris runs a tight kitchen and it shows in the quality and flavour of his dishes. Hearty portions for great prices; come hungry!
MoreWe got Beef Oxtail Meal and Jerk Chicken Meal. So glad we finally checked them out, their meals were SO worth it, it came in HUGE portions, it had Rice & Peas, Veggies, and Fried Plantains! Oxtail was fall off the bone tender, flavourful, Jerk Chicken was well seasoned, tender, juicy, and they didn’t cheap out on Gravy, the Rice & Peas soaked up all the deliciousness, GOSH it was amazing!Deducted 1 star because the lady at the cash was very rude.
MoreGreat food! Call ahead for speedy service.Pictured: salmon meal and jerk chicken breast poutine.
MoreThe most ultimate jerk chicken spot in Toronto. Comes with extra attitude from the employees and extra gravy. Don’t go anywhere else. 🔥
MoreThis place is FIRE! A definite must when in The 6 (Toronto). The food phenomenal I love the Caribbean twist they put on Poutine. The traditional Ox tail with rice and peas was also scrumptious. This place gets busy fast so anytime after 12 expect a wait not too long though. I was also highly impressed with the freshness of food and order of the establishment. Dont skip this place! YUM!!
MoreThe customer service at this location sucked, the cashier had an attitude problem and while I waited patiently on my turn to order, the cashier took another persons order who had just entered. Is The Secret word hi chef Chris in order to be served promptly?because thats what happened. Im a paying customer as well. Ordered jerk chicken wings with white rice and a second order of jerk chicken with rice and peas with aside of jerk pork. The jerk chicken had jerk sauce but barely tasted the flavour and my white rice was very salty. The pork was cold but tender. I really dont see what the hype is, I rather had pocketed that money and buy my own groceries and cook my own food. I thought I was doing some good by getting outside food and mainly supporting a business but this isnt it. Thanks for not full filling my hunger. #wontbereturning
MoreI went there this past Saturday as I was finally Im the area and wanted to try the shawarma jerk chicken poutine everyone has been raving about!! I walked over with my Baby and was greated by an amazing family!! Turns out I had lucked out...it was Customer Appreciation Day!!! Not only were they giving out free fresh off the grill jerk chicken sandwiches... they were also giving out snow cones and balloons to the children and had a jumping castle! I cannot get over how awesome the owners are ..it was smiles all around... a young lady even played with my baby in the jumping castle!! Did I mention the food was absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!! I will definitely be back!! You do not find that type of vibe often!! They even were playing some of my favourite music!! Im officially a fan at this point! God bless them.
MoreJerk Chicken Shawarma Poutine! Yes please! I drove an hour out of my way for this, and it was so worth it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
MoreThe chicken was very tender and moist. It was so good and the gravy was also amazing. Some places pour too little gravy and I always have to ask for extra but this place is very generous. They also do give plantains for the side instead of the usual coleslaw and it tastes so good !Its a little bit small in the store especially if it gets really busy but otherwise, the service was quite fast. The food definitely is worth trying
MoreThis review May shock people. Is the food tasty? Sure its decent... But on numerous occasions Ive had bones in my shawarma wrap and was told when I brought it up to them "we dont advertise it as boneless" its a wrap are you kidding me?! Also Chriss (I assume is his wifeis very rude and has no place being around customers. I eat out 2 to 3x a day and even though Ive been here countless times I will never return.
MoreThis is my second review a year later for this place... cannot say enough good things. Today they opened at 11am and right on the dot the doors opened and food was freshly prepared. Normally I opt for the tender entree, but today wanted to try their shawarma. Seriously impressive, was so delicious and perfect portion size. Surprised Ive never had it before. While I love/appreciate Jerk chicken, its their BBQ sauce for me. The sauce used on the BBQ chicken and tenders is so good! I would buy this sauce in a jar if they sold it.In addition to the food, the staff are amazing. The family-like vibe is very welcoming and they move quick! You will see all walks of earth at this place :)
MoreFrom the moment you step in you can tell this is a Jamaican restaurant with a difference. The place is super clean, the employees are polite and helpful. And the food are 100% authentic Jamaican dishes. A 10/10 on taste and value.
MoreThe best Carribean food in Toronto!Been here several times, and the food is always delicious! Be prepared to wait a bit for your order, as it is a very popular restaurant! The wait is well worth it! Enjoy!
MoreAmazing food at an amazing price. The jerk chicken and jerk pork were both amazing in flavour. They include a lot of meat, and I had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. I love the rice and peas, as well as the fried plantains. Highly recommend this location!
MoreNice little spot in Scarborough with a Craft, urban market vibe with a modern twist on classic Jamaican favourites.I tried the Jerk shawarma dinner and it did not disappoint the jerk sauce here is nice and sweet and enjoyable if your not really into hot spice .Also had the Jerk shawarma poutine which was actually really good but I would suggest sharing with 2-3 people to finish in one sitting lol Will definitely be back to try the other options!
MoreAmazing Caribbean Dishes, I would go on a day to day bases for the Jerk Chicken Combo. Though my typical go to is the Jerk Chicken Shawarma Poutine. The poutine always hits the spot, a kick of the jerk Chicken mixed with great French fries and gravy.
MoreThe food was truly amazing, it’s definitely worth every penny spent, what I will say is make sure you call ahead because of the fact that it’s really busy.Overall I truly appreciate the experience would say that my personal favourite was the jerk chicken poutine!!
MoreDelicious and super popular place. Come early if you want their jerk shawarma - we went at 6:30 on a Saturday and it was already sold out. Despite that, the rest of their food is still really good. Portions are big and the prices rather cheap for what you get. Its a takeout place only but they are popular so you will have to wait a while for your food. Very worth it however
MoreWent here for the second and last time today. The presentation was pleasing, the portions large, the service was quick but I dont call this jerk chicken. I would call this bougie jerk chicken. The skin is soggy not crispy and Im not used to basmati for rice and peas. Also found a light brown hair in my food and my hair is dark black. Employees werent very friendly either.
MorePresentation 4.5 star, service 2 star, and taste 3.5 stars. This place was very busy and the wait time was way too long for the food to just taste okay. I waited 40mins for jerk chicken with oxtail gravy and fried chicken. The rice and peas, Im sorry, does not taste good, and the oxtail gravy was bland but salty. The jerk chicken was tender and the fried chicken was good. All in all it was an okay meal, but I probably wont be a repeat customer.
MoreAbsolutely awesome. Looked up the best jerk in Toronto and after about 20 minutes of research I found that this place had to be one of the best. As soon as I got there I noticed a line of about 20 ppl which is always a good sign. After getting in and asking the staff what I should get, they gave me great recommendations and were super nice and helpful. I ordered the jerk chicken poutine, a side of oxtail and a jerk chicken combo that came with rice, beans, veggies and fried plantain. I LOVED it! There was no dining inside so we ate in the parking lot, the drink selection there was good, good parking and easily accessible for anyone in a wheelchair. I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to go back.
MoreBeautifully presented food, great portion size! It takes quite a while but it’s because the food is well made. It is a bit sweeter than I like my oxtail to be but everyone has a different flavour profile. Will try the famous jerk next time!
MoreI was intending on having a meal from another restaurant at the mall. But when I saw the line up at Chris Jerk and heard reviews from happy repeat customers, I changed my mind. I am glad I did. I got the curry goat and it was good, however I think it would taste better if they used less salt. Despite that I am still interested in coming back to try their ox tail.If you like my reviews, photos or videos give a big easy thumbs up.
MoreAlways wanted to try this place and heard good things about it.Ordered the Jerk Chicken, waited for around 15 minutes.Very flavourful. Please feel free to follow me onIG & YouTube: MandilicousTiktok & Fb: Missmandilicous for food & lifestyle posts in GTA
MoreA very very busy restaurant. Very clean and organized and good customer service. Ordered the jerk chicken shawarma meal, which is plenty and very delicious. Love their fried plantains, very tasty and caramelized. I always get an extra order of it. There is always a lineup so be ready to wait, but worth the wait.My only complain is that they never pick up their phone for orders, atleast not that day. Maybe being a weekend.
MoreKnown for their signature jerk chicken shawarma poutine which has never dissappointed time and time again. Makes you want to go back for more awesomeness. Make sure you have time on your hands because there is always a line up.
MoreUnlike most places, the containers aren’t merely filled with rice, peas, a protein, and perhaps a tong of coleslaw. At Chris Jerk, each meal also arrives with vibrant buttery stir-fried vegetables and sweet soft fried plantains. It’s a full-sized affair where you’re bound to have leftovers. As soon as I saw the large pieces of oxtail ($16.95I was ready to dig in - you’re lucky there’s any pictures that’s part of this post. Boy was it tasty: thick and meaty with more than enough of the lovely gravy to mix into the rice and peas. While it was tender, it wasn’t braised so long that it fell off the bone. You could still pick up each piece and get a bite of meat and jellied cartilage all together.I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about all the chickpeas accompanying the curry chicken ($12.45but, in retrospect, the crumbly legumes with the juicy chicken were a nice combination. Despite the vibrant yellow hue of the sauce, the spices weren’t too powerful. Everyone seemed to ask for hot sauce on the side, something I’ll pick up next time to add a bit more heat to the dish.In fact, nothing is overly spicy. Even the jerk chicken leg ($3was rather tame tasting like barbeque chicken with a jerk element, equally sweet to spicy. I’m glad we only purchased a side order as it would have been a disappointment – when one orders jerk chicken you want that hit of flavours, this was not it.
MoreThis place appears on many Scarborough foodie lists and its definitely worth a visit. The unique Caribbean fusion offers a different spin and I went for the jerk chicken shawarma wrap with a side of fried chicken. I loved the wrap with which tasted fresh and had a lot of flavor but wasnt really spicy so this should be fine for most peoples tastes. I didnt enjoy the fried chicken quite as much but it still tasted just as fresh as the shawarma.
MoreTried this place for the first time. It’s easy to find and lots of parking. I ordered oxtail, rice, plantain and vegs ($19.25all in. Portion size was good, quality and flavour is great. The reason I am giving them 3 stars is because two of the gentlemen servers were NOT wearing face mask during this pandemic and there were more than 5 customers inside (opposed to the sign, 5 customers max). Other than that was a good experience.
MoreThe food was amazing! Huge portions. For the amount you spend. Definitely worth it. The jerk breast chicken Rice and peas! Amazing. They are a busy place. Pretty quick with the orders, definitely check it out if you are in the area. They have all sorts of dishes.
MorePleasant staff for sure. Warm and welcoming. And delicious food!! Went with 5 people and shared some dishes which were all enjoyed. Only forewarning is that seating is for sure limited. Tables of 2 when I went. Looking for Jamaican comfort food, this comes highly recommended.
MoreThis place is the place to go to for jerk. Its really flavourful, but no not overly spicy. The meat is incredibly tender, fried plantains are sweet and delicious, the rice is aromatic and a perfect medium to soak up the sauce from the meat. Potions are big here too!! You wont be disappointed. Be prepared for a wait (about 10-15 minfor take out but its well worth it. Limited seating so better to do take out. And if you go at the end of the night they often run out of something but theyll recommend swaps.
