Calle Hacia Los Chorros, El Salvador, Santa Ana
Chorros De La Calera - Nature reserve in Santa Ana, El Salvador
Is closed. privatized place
Closed. Gate blocks access. A long, hot and unpleasant walk which should be avoided if you can’t arrange (no idea howaccess. There is no one there to provide access.
It’s private property… it’s mandatory to pay a guide to escort you around, so that he/she can kick you at after exactly 1,5 hours. They are really rushy so there is no time to take lovely pictures. It’s a shame….
We were told by locals that the place has been “privatized”. A local guide told us that we have to take an alternate route which is a medium to hard level and the price is $15 per person. Unfortunately, we were not ready to make such a hike and did not get to see the falls.
Nice waterfalls. A bit tricky to get to, since it has recently been converted to a hydro electric plant. You need to drive on the unpaved road where you will find a guide who can open the gates for you and guide you to the waterfall.
Went independent of a tour without a guide and was turned around just feet before arriving at the falls. Apparently its private property and everyone needs a guide. So we never got to see the falls. Very disappointing considering all the official signs guiding us to the falls and no mention of private property. Im sure theyre beautiful but I may never know.
This place is private and cost 5$(that is price the locals told us). Unfortunetely the gate was closed and we were told to find the owner by our own in the town.In town we were told to go back to the gate because there is a person with a key. After couple of round trips walking we gave up.We dont recommend it.
You must come and check this place out. It is the most beautiful place I been too. We were not expecting on coming here but I got to say I dont regret getting in with clothes. Check it out
Tried to do it but it’s closed. owners won’t let you do it anymore. Skip this one.
Beautiful place
Its private spot, open only on Saturday and Sunday but no-one seems to know it.However from there its possible to see the actual waterfall with a short walk, or go to the 7 chorros hikes, way better and more interesting for sure.Ask for a guide on your way down to the entrance and they will help out in ever way possible :)
Amazing and refreshing whater
Don’t go there if is not the weekend... this waterfalls opens only Saturday and Sundays from 8-3... amazing falls for a day chilling under the massive jungle ❤️
It is currently CLOSED during the weekdays, you can drive to the entrance but the gate will be closed. They are doing construction works in the path after the gate to make it more accessible, however you can visit it during the weekends 9 am to 5 pm, so I really recommend you to go to Juayua during the weekend, otherwise you will be missing the Food Festival as well. In case you still happen to be there on a weekday and dont have time to wait for the weekend youll normally find locals that will offer you a tour of the other waterfalls in the area, you can bargain the price but I got a tour of 1.5 h for $10, although if you drive there youll want to pay another guy to look after your car, for $3 to $5. In my opinion this is even better than the long 6h tour of those waterfalls and some other nearby coffee plantations that you may see on internet or get offered in the hotels. If you just dont want to pay anything and are a bit adventurous, you can slide down the slope on the right of the gate at get a view of the main waterfall as you can see in the photo below.
The place is beautiful. However it can be dangerous for children and/or the elderly. You have to walk on inclined descent and the "pool" does not have any security measures, kids might fall. Too bad that visitors do not take care of this place, they throw trash all over. Overall a beautiful waterfall, it was worth the travel.
This is a truly beautiful Place but its Privately own, we drove 3.5 hours to find out that the owners have restricted access to the waterfall. That they are only open on the weekends, and due to an exception they had made for earlier that week due to a festive holiday they had open it till 3pm that Tuesday we arrived we got to enjoy the scenery for about 30 minutes. Must pay $2.00 for parking (awful driveand a tour guide $1.00 + $1.00 per each person that they take, its a hard incline not suitable for thouse who have health problems
it was a steep walk down to the water
Very beautiful place but its closed until 2020 because of construction works. So you can visit it only on Saturday and Sunday.
Wonderful experience.
Great experience. Almost paradise.
Best place to visit....
Nothing spectacular but a nice half day trip
Take the moto taxi. Great time riding it lol.
Just Beautiful! (recomend to hire a tour guide, like Guanatour)
Nice place a lot of walking
Lovely place
Super chivisimo
Good trip on stairs to a beautiful fall
Great place to enjoying whit family and friends
This place is also a must-see when you’re in El Salvador especially in Santa Ana. When we got here during the week there was absolutely nobody but the friends we came with. The water was nice and cold, beautiful for the hot weather. Plus the water was very clean and the scenery was spectacular
Absolutely beautiful place. You can swim in the cool waters at the bottom of the waterfall. Which is amongst beautiful rainforest. Car parking is available but it is a tough walk down the dirt road. Recommend catching a Tuk Tuk down to the entry and back to your car later. Its it about $3 US each way. The walk from the entry to the water fall is a little rough with stairs only to part of the track. Wheel chairs and prams would not be able use this track. Ive been 2 times and loved it.
Beautiful waterfall, great to swim in
Amazing, simply breathtaking. Water felt sooooo cold but fresh. Had to hike about ten minutes to get there. Definitely recommend to leave your car in town and rent a moto taxi for about $6 both ways. If you try to book a tour its about $10 per person. We only made it to the second waterfall, a local said that going to the third one was a bit riskier and was way further down.
Great place
An excellent place to interact with nature. There is a tunnel at the waterfall. If you get in there little bit and see the water facing the entrance, you see the water more beautifully. Its deep blue. Its just amazing.
