Beautiful location and located downtown Ulaanbaatar near thr Shangrila Hotel. Museum staff are limited on English speakers but the temple is worth seeing.

It’s a compound of many Buddhist temples showcasing the history of Buddhism in Mongolia and people who brought them. The temples’ physical structures are ancient Chinese buildings from outside yet Tibetan architecture and design inside. There are Tibetan Thangkas well preserved in some temples. In other temples, there are artefacts of tantric Buddhist lamas and shamans. The whole museum is a combination of Buddhism, Shamanism, and Taoism beliefs. But you have to pay if you want to take photos besides ticket fee. It’s not worth. Just walk in and explore all those temples.

I visited alone after lunch, and I was the only visitor. In the main building, a middle-aged female employee and two young women followed me around and watched me whenever I moved. But the three women talked so loudly that I couldnt see the exhibition, so I came out quickly.

1904 (rebuilt in 1934)The Choijin Lama Temple Museum is a museum located in the central part of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The construction of the 8th Jebtsundamba Khutagt for his younger brother Choijin Lama Luvsankhaidav began in 1904 and was completed in 1908.

What a spectacular museum! My favourite in the whole city. The Chojin Temple Museum had 5 sections to it and each had a different meaning/purpose.Like most of the museums I visited in Mongolia, theres a ticket price for entry and an additional cost to take photos. While this was I think the most expensive museum I visited, GET THE PHOTOGRAPHY TICKET! The colours in the main hall with all the characters from the Cham Dance immediately made the extra cost worth it. The Cham Dance is an elaborate performance primarily from Tibetan Buddhism. Along the way, you get to see some impressive pieces of art while getting a view of the outside courtyards each time you go to a new temple. What really stuck out for me though was you eventually get to a temple depicting the Buddhist version of Hell. Such graphic imagery and great explanations. The staff were also quite friendly and knew how to explain much of it in English.

Quaint museum in Central Ulaanbaatar. Not a lot of context available in English to explain what youre looking at, but lots of neat 19th century artifacts.

Looks quite run-down. Costs 8000T/pax to enter and you need to pay extra for photos.Probably most interesting would be the personal chamber for the Lama’s “tantric exercises”.

Amazing place, crowded by Buddhist statues and artefakts. Unfortunately, the price for taking pictures is quite high; the ticket is 8000 Tugriks and for photographing 50000 (!)

Very similar to the Bogd Khan museum from the outside but I found the display inside far better than the more well known Bogd Khan museum. It is sad that you have to pay a ridiculous fee of 50,000Tugruk to take photos inside besides the 8,000 Tugruk entrance fee.It is sad that this historical place has almost been swallowed by the skyscrapers around it. There is a very loud Karaoke bar next to it and it was hard to find a moment of peace inside with the loud music playing in the adjacent building(on a Saturday morning).Still a good place to visit if you have traveled half the globe to visit Mongolia. Behind the Blue Sky hotel building with a few coffee shops nearby.

A beautiful Mongolian temple built in traditional Tibetan Buddhism style. Well worth spending time in the main temple to see all of the wonderful pieces on display. You have to pay extra to take photos inside, which is a tad stupid, but you can sneak in the odd photo here & there.Make sure to look at the ceiling detail. Hell is depicted in one section.

Right in the heart of city, this is a perfect museum/temple to explore. It’s only a fragment of the great Khan dynasty that used to exist but it’s amazing to observe the architecture from so many different cultures that once belonged to this empire. Small entry fee and amazing costume collection also
