The bean to bar workshop was amazing! The lady was super enthousiastic, informative and helpful. We tasted different chocolate milk / tea and made our own chocolate. Recommended!
Highly recommend the cocoa class. Really interesting! Engaging guide, lots of interactivity and things to try. Finishing up with your own made chocolate
We did the Bean-to-Bar Chocolate Workshop which was great! You learn a lot about the different steps how to make chocolate or chocolate drinks. You can also taste the products and create your own chocolate.
This place had a really fun tour that happens 2wice a day. Check with them for the times and to book. Was a really fun making chocolate class. They really know there stuff and had a lot of knowledge on the coco bean stuff. Was definitely a fun time and a good spot to check out.
The Mayan hot chocolate was delicious. The menthe Fresca was okay, wouldn’t order it again. The tasting of the chocolate and liquors was so good! The chocolate tea was surprisingly delicious as well. 4 stars because we waited 20 min for our drinks.
Really really enjoyed the bean to bar workshop here! A very cute place, and an enjoyable experience making chocolate to take home.
We took the 45 minutes class, thay was very rich with details on the process of making chocolate 🍫The staff there is very professional and friendly, not to mention that their products are delicious!
Such a fun and informative chocolate making workshop! Would highly recommend, make time for this!
Did the chocolate workshop and it was fun! Would highly recommend it!
Definitely do the chocolate tour where you make your own bar of chocolate. Awesome experience 10/10
We had a great time learning about chocolate making and trying a variety of cacao products. The fee is a bit pricey at about $25/person, but includes your own custom chocolate bar and tastings of some cacao drinks. It took about an hour and 45 minutes so plan accordingly.
Took the 2-hour chocolate class and had a great time! We made and tried multiple drinks with the cacao beans in addition to making our own chocolate bar.
If there’s 0 stars I would give it. Don’t go here. BIG waste of time ill never get back. All full with annoying kids. Also lady says come back but when you come back it’s always full.Book online it’s 2x-4x more expensive. Of course they prioritize that because of money.
We did a 1 hour chocolate making tour which was great. It was not really “chocolate making class” but more like getting information about cocoa beans and the process in general. Our guide had a very friendly and fun attitude, unfortunately, because of her mask and noise in the cafe it was hard to hear her.We were able to take home our own chocolates at the end of the class. I’d recommend if you have time & desire to learn more about chocolate making process.
The experience of learning about chocolate and where it all comes from was a great memory to gain. Two things I love, coffee and chocolate!
I got chocolate tea and we got a sample and it was so delicious! I dont even think it needed sugar either! Great way to not feel guilty from actually eating a chocolate bar LOL 😜😜 The milk chocolate is super delicious though I have to say
Cute place with chocolate gifts and good hot chocolate. But when we first walked in, no one greeted us or even asked if we wanted a tour.
We took the workshop. Learned so much about chocolate and made our own chocolate bars. The shop has lots of surprising & cool chocolate products
Salome gave us a tour and taught us A LOT about cacao. We got to make our own chocolate bars. They also sale ice cream which was tasty. They were able to set us up with the tour/class when we walked up but I recommend scheduling it before hand just to make sure.
Great experience learning how chocolate is made from scratch. You participate in every part of the chocolate making process and the staff was super friendly and it was a fun time. Highly recommend if you can while here.
You can just go and visit for free, buy good local chocolate 🍫, taste it in the spot on the patio or, what’s I highly recommend, do the workshop to do your own chocolate and learn about chocolate!!!
A must do. Chocolate museum with plenty of free samples. Learn about how the Mayans were the originators of the chocolate making process which is still used today! Order the “Chocolate Maya” to concoct your own spicy hot chocolate (we recommend only mixing half of the water provided for a thicker hot chocolate consistency!)
There many of these around Guatemala with different names. Its worth a quick stop/ taste. The 1 hour chocolate making workshop - you can probably skip.
Nice environment, pet friendly and wonderful drinks. They have a bistro and also workshops with useful information and a chocolate made by yourself as result. They serve each ingredient so you prepare your own traditional hot cocoa drink.
The Bean to Bar workshop was excellent. The host was excellent. Very interesting and she spoke brilliant English. We learned loads and really enjoyed making our own chocolate bars.
My family visited ChocoMuseo for the "Bean to Bar" Experience. Our class was for English speakers and in addition to our party of 6, 5 additional patrons attended. Our host spoke very clear English, and it was clear that they werent solely memorizing a script. There was a lot of very interesting information shared regarding the history of Cacao and Chocolate that was provided prior to performing the work to create the bars of chocolate from the bean. If you go in ready to be hands-on youll have an enjoyable time.
A friend and I did the chocolate workshop here and it was so much fun! It’s only two hours and we were able to learn so much about the history of chocolate and how it’s made here in Guatemala. The price is reasonable ($25 USDand you also get to make your own chocolate bar to take home. Highly recommend!
Aww! So glad I stopped here. Cute shop with a variety of chocolate offerings. And they love giving you samples! 🤣 I took the bean to bar workshop and it was excellent! My guide (gosh please forgive me.. Samone? Savored? Sa.. somethingwas excellent and friendly. I learned so much. Like that white chocolate is not chocolate 😅 and how we got the Nestlé brand! Made our own bars and tried multiple traditional drinks that I got to help prepare! Book your class in person if you can! They also have a little cafe in the back. Did not eat here but had some good looking pastries and drinks.
Great chocolate. Cute little store. I did the Bar to Bean workshop and it was really educational and fun. I learned a lot. I went home with my own chocolate and got to try a few chocolate beverages from old Mayan traditions. 160Q or $20US and worth every penny. I suggest the Mini Chocolate workshop for those with little patience or small children. The Bar to Bean workshop is set for two hours but it took us about 2.5 while the Mini workshop is about 1 hour or 1.5 hours. Great prices on their chocolate as well.
chocomuseo was so fun!! what a lovely place. the class they provide was fun and educational, and the chocolate was delicious. the cacao tea is absolutely phenomenal. the staff is very nice. i really recommend this place, as well as the class if youre looking to learn about chocolate and the laborious work that goes into making it.
Great chocolate. I had the chocolate conquistador and it was amazing. Very smooth rich but not sweet. We tasted several other chocolate and they were all good. Its a quick little stop to take a break and enjoy chocolate.
We had such a great private chocolate making class with Frank! We learned the history of cacao and the chocolate making process from the bean to the bar. The class was in English (which he spoke perfectly!and it was very fun and interactive. We made our own customized chocolate bars and tried different kinds of hot chocolate and tea that we prepared. This class with Frank was definitely one of the highlights of our visit to Antigua!
This is a fun place to learn about chocolate. They let you taste all of the products which unfortunately was not really a good match for me, but I will say the chocolate liquor is very good. You can do the bean to bar class which is fun and don’t forget to go to the back where they have a lot of the history of chocolate in Guatemala and the surrounding areas. They also have a lot of equipment that was used to make chocolate and information on what chocolate stands for and it’s importance in the region. We did come here for our chocolate liquor purchases. I recommend this if you’re in the area and you want to learn about the process of making chocolate and importance in the culture and for trade in the country
One of the downplayed highlights of the heritage is its coco production. The museo is worth not only a visit for the history but to actively take part in production and to taste! Be sure to book yourself for a workshop and to indulge at the shoppe for the full experience.
Informative and entertaining! Our host Juan/Frank was delightful and courteous. Our group started out as strangers and by the end we all felt like good friends. Awesome 👍.
Loved the chocolate making class here with Frank. Fun, interesting, educational and delicious. One of the best things we did during our time in Antigua!
We did the chocolate making course. Was very informative and fun, we had some time up our sleeves and did this. It was a cute couple thing to do.
Orlando was awesome host. Fun. Interesting and well informed about the chocolates we buy from well known chocolate factories.
Amazing place to take children to learn. Took the choco-class for 2 hrs worth the time and money.
Enjoyed this place. They give you samples and explain the process of making chocolates. Nice place to pick up gifts
A must visit! The chocolate making classes that other people mention are $45, so much too pricey, but theres a lot of information about chocolate origins, a big shop ( some things cheaper than in the markets, or we were just bad at bargaining...), and a restaurant. The Mayan chocolate from Bebidas Calientes is very worth ordering - you get a full experience of mixing your own hot chocolate! 5 stars!
Excellent for a real chocolate experience. Specially to learn the real taste and history of one of the worlds favourite.
It was a very nice experience! We didnt have a lot of knowledge about chocolate and now we know much more. Shout out to Raul, he was amazing!
We had a wonderful afternoon tour and chocolate cooking class with Raúl.We learned about how the history of the beans how to roast them, make a past, and all about the Mayan history with chocolate! After the short tour in the museum we had a chocolate cooking workshop, amazing amazing amazing so much fun and knowledge!
Such a fun place. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. They have samples of their items, yummy chocolate, chocolate tea, coffee and chocolate liquors. They also have an ice cream shop in the back. We didn’t have time for the tour but will definitely do it when we go back.
Love the place, extraordinary craft beer and the tasting board is a nice touch! Great pizza and the salad was a new experience for me with that cacao dressing!
Great place to have a coffee, do a chocolate making workshop, have a beer, or just eat some samples and shop.
We did the chocolate making tour with Orlando who was very enthusiastic and fun. We learned about the history of making chocolate during the Mayan period and made Mayan hot chocolate and chocolate tea. We were able to make our own chocolates with different toppings. Good all around family activity that lasts about two hours. Need to reserve beforehand. The times are 11am, 130pm, and 4pm.
Took the two hour class where we learned how to make chocolate and it was brilliant. Wonderful engaging guide Raul talked us through the history, the process, and had us roasting and grinding cacao beans and whipping up all kinds of chocolate treats...so worth the money. Educational, fun, hands-on and tasty!
We did the "make your own choco" tour and it was very fun and instructive! We learned way more about the making of chocolate than we thought we would! Alexandro was our tour guide/teacher for the experience and he was all smile and very kind. He had the answer to all of our questions and was speaking as well in English as in Spanish. We got to make our own chocolate, understand what we were doing and have fun all the while.
