Chisou Japanese Restaurant Knightsbridge in Mali
Description
Privilege
Great spot for sushi not far from Harrods but off the beaten path. Very friendly people. Highly recommend
MoreUnnecessarily expensive for average Japanese cuisine. The sushi were no different that what you can get from your local ITSU.
MoreOverall food are okay apart from the fact that their are so salty. The waiters are nice.A bit too overpriced.
MoreDisappointed as I mentioned it was a birthday occasion when I booked, but this was ignored completely.Very authentic Japanese restaurant. The quality of the food was very good, the sake was excellent, and the decor had an authentic Japanese sensibility and comfortable atmosphere, 5 stars for these. The waiting staff were good.It is pricey, but what can you expect for Knightsbridge? Expect to pay at least £60 per head, probably more like £80-100. Had hoped for Japanese style hospitality of free water or tea provided on arrival (especially during a hot summer!), instead we had to order water at £5 per bottle.Green tea was advertised as "sencha" but was not sencha, instead it was konacha, the low-grade powdered green tea typically served at sushi restaurants. Fine, but please label it correctly on the menu. Dessert menu was not very exciting, so didnt bother.
MoreAmazing food and experience!!! Josh was really helpful 🙂
One of the best Japanese restaurants I went in London. Foods here are cooking in a simple way that you can really taste the freshness. Very friendly service, even offered us mixed fruits after the meal for free. Love it!
MoreNot a great sushi, fancy place because of the location, but quality is average. Every piece of sushi ia full of wasabi, so that is the only flavour to expect. Expensive for what it is. The only nice dish was the dessert, but in general I dont recommend this place for sushi.
MoreHidden gem of Knightsbridge! An excellent Japanese restaurant. The food and ambiance was on point! Would definitely revisit again soon.
MoreLovely baby rock shrimp tempura.nice looking but weird (compressedspinach with over-salty sesame sauce. Nigiri were ok.Service and athmosphere ok.
MoreNot sure if it’s because of the heatwave the Sashimi was not very fresh. Noodles were just so so. Starters’ portions were small. It’s an ordinary Japanese restaurant but too pricy for its quality. Won’t recommend
MoreFood was really nice and service was outstanding. We ordered many different things and all of them were tasty and full of flavours which I loved. The wine was nice which normally is not the case in Japanese restaurants. My only problem is interior. The entrance and toilets are awful, restaurant is tiny and I needed to check twice if that was the place we booked because it is completely different from the pics on Google. I recommend for the food but it could be much nicer.
MoreVery average but they have rent. Your own risk. They know very little about food but they know a lot about how much they love your wallet
MoreWe celebrated my daughters 20th birthday at this fabulous Japanese restaurant in Knightsbridge.Cosy, comfortable and very friendly service. And my wife says that the excellent young man serving us (not sure if he was Japanesewas not only very helpful but handsome too. She would know. The food quality here (just like its bigger sister restaurant near Bond Streetis exceptional and that includes even the vegetables cooked just right.Wagyu foie gras was decadent and sublimeKing prawn tempura deliciousBlack cod melt in the mouth heavenCant wait to go back
MoreFood was delicious and waitress Misae made our time very enjoyable!
The best sushi Ive had in London. Everything was so fresh.
Great sushi quality, relaxed environment and friendly staff. A safe bet around Knightsbridge!
MoreLovely sashimi selection, good quality of fishes.
This place served us some of the best sushi, we have had for many years - and they did it twice, two days apart, with different but very friendly staff for the two evenings. We will definitely visit again when in London!
MoreThe food was great and the service was fantastic as wellHighly recommended
Super good food and service. I loved everything that was brought to me. No plate was left with anything. Sushi was fresh and tasty! Thank you!
MoreBetter than we expected, at least £100 each
Zero complain Japanese food, very traditional and sushi meat actually scored so it doesnt taste like rubber, wasabi they use is a real one and I can actually taste the particles from the wasabi root which I think is impressive. Will come back for sure, highly recommend. (Sorry no photos because I finished everything before comment)
MoreOrdered delivery at first and was impressed enough to come in for dinner. Fish was really fresh and service was fast on a Saturday night.
MoreFresh, straightforward Japanese dishes cooked well. Crunchy softshell crab (a bit oily though), flaky black cod, tender flavourful Wagyu, and melt in your mouth fatty tuna (a couple of the slices had hard fat lines that the cut could have done without). Great service.Overpriced Saké menu, the price doesnt represent the average quality of the bottles on offer.Good lunch spot, prompt service, recommended.
MoreThe best sushi I have ever had. The staff were amazing too. Couldnt recommend this place more
MoreIt was a great joy and wonderful food. Very good Japanese restaurant with a nice atmosphere, very friendly and helping staff. Good quality food and lots of options both to eat and drink. Definitely we will come back.
MoreEnjoyed a wonderful family dinner. A great place for sushi, sashimi and Japanese cuisine. Excellent service. Nice and friendly staff.
MoreTerrible customer service, and very average sushi quality (far worse than the Mayfair branch).Waiter is unfamiliar with the menu and daily specials. Brought out rice and kimchi to our table by mistake, came to retrieve after 5-10mins without saying anything to us, d-toured around and returned the same dishes to the table next to us as if they were new from the kitchen. Table next to us was polite and didn’t challenge anything, but how rude and covid unsafe is that?Sashimi quality is very average, rice is dry and hard. Will not go again.
MoreOutstanding. Incredible sushi options I hadnt seen before and each one blew me away. Get the prawn salad with yuzu dressing (pictured), it was as beautiful as it looked!
MoreI came here for my birthday with my family. Im glad we reserved a table as you could see it was a popular place. The service was wonderful, friendly and efficient staff and of course the food was top notch, its pricey but you get what you pay for. :)
MoreGood ambience and delicious food. The sushi we ordered are so yummy. Cozy little place. The presentation of food is excellent. Price is on the high side.
MoreHad lunch here with my two littles one a few weeks ago. The customer service was top notch! The staff were very polite, attentive and understanding as my children were quite messy. The food was really tasty and fresh.. There was a good selection of choices. The tempura was light and crunchy. Really enjoyed the rolls as they kept their shape and was easy to eat. We also packed the nigiri set to go and when we had it a short time later it was good. The rice was cooked just right and seasoned well, the fish topping was sweet and yummy. We would definitely eat at the restaurant again the next time we are in London again. (Or order delivery:)
MoreThey don’t use fresh rice . It was very dry . Fried oyster wasn’t fried up like a professional . More like a home food . As for saikyo yaki …. it was very fishy . Although they knew I’m allergic to coconuts and pineapple . They gave me an assortment fruits with pineapple …. As a Japanese …. the food quality is not a restaurant quality . It’s a home food . Also I just saw ready made sashimi piled up and stuck on the plate almost close to the floor in the kitchen .
MoreFirstly, I would like to highlight their courage to sell such foods to customers. Wagyu tsukune smelled a little bit and a little salty. Sushi were not fresh and the thickness was not proper, too thick. I have never eaten such soggy tempura before elsewhere. I have never seen such small tasteless California rolls before either. About their udon, I can be confident that any instant udon is much better than it. I never recommend this shops foods.
MoreHave lived down the road from here for years and never been. Dropped in with a friend for lunch today and thought the food and service were superb. My friend (who is a local and regular at the restaurantordered for us so I never saw any prices. Bill including tip was almost half what I thought it would be. Will be back with my wife this weekend!
MoreAwful experience and rude customer service, waitress was extremely arrogant and impatient when we asked her to explain some of the food in the menu(as the descriptions weren’t clear enough). Came for my boyfriend’s birthday, spent £140 and didn’t even get a free birthday cake(unbelievable), and was charged £20 for this awful service, simply ridiculous. Food was way too overpriced too. Absolutely ruined the birthday experience.
MoreThis is certainly one of the best Japanese/ sushi restaurants there is but did the high price reflect the difference in quality to the midrange restaurants I am used to? Possibly, possibly not. The wagyu beef was a real treat and I would recommend going here to try it along with their wide range of fresh tasting nigiri. The soup also had a lot more flavour that Im used to. Be prepared for a hole in your wallet but I guess thats what you pay for top quality food in Knightsbridge.
MoreChilled atmosphere and nothing to envy to the top sushi places in London
Staff were very helpful & understanding. Didnt get waiters name but it was last Wednesday afternoon. We have 2 babies, the waiter kept asking if we needed anything and accommodated my friends food allergies. I asked for plain tofu so my baby would have something other than his food pouch, I even got a second serving cuz my baby loved it so much. Of course food is good, I enjoyed my soba noodles. Id go back for their excellent service and baby friendliness!!
MoreOrdered delivery for new years. Impressed by the quality of the sushi on arrival! Everything was delicious and high quality, and well packaged too. Will be ordering again!
MoreAfter travels around Europe (yes during 2020 the weird periodand following a prolonged stay in Zurich - now in London we were craving sensibly priced Japanese food after years of living in Japan. First off we wouldnt really call this sensibly priced as for 2 persons including a fairly priced Italian white we came in around 250. For what we had vs setting - we have to compare to our home area in Tokyo and even Hiroo/akasaka fine dine restaurants come in around the same but with higher quality. However we found the food very good and the quality was what we were looking for - we were also happy that the sushi was served with the small size of rice. All items we ordered got no complaints from us. We would also recommend the service as the staff were all exceptionally friendly from arrival to departure. Wed probably recommended booking in advance (as we didand making sure the table you know before hand - we like the window table up front as more "action" ...... fairly decent wine list. Great location. Would return and recommend
MoreFood was amazing - we managed to order seconds and thirds. The house sake was lovely but the waiter forgot we still had some left from the bottle we ordered and served it room temperature rather than hot.We were puzzled at the end when we paid the bill only to be told by our waiter that the old paper £20 notes were no longer a legal tender (this has not been announced yet). We asked why they were not accepting it because its a legal tender and was told it was withdrawn in Feb (2020)?!? Even though the conversation at the end was a weird one we will be returning for more but next time we will pay by credit card instead.
MoreProbably the most authentic Japanese restaurant we’ve come across in London for a reasonable price. The sushi chef is a master of his craft! The guy has some serious skills. The uni and chutoro were 10/10. Would recommend the kaki fry and mozuku (seaweedshot if you’ve never tried it before. Booked on a Saturday and got the table the same night. Can’t wait to go back!
MoreWalked in to Chisou today without a reservation and they are still doing the Eat Out promotion which is brilliant as I’ve always wanted to come back again. The food and service were great and definitely worth coming with the promo still on. Well worth it with quality food and ingredients.
MoreGreat for visiting with eat-out-to-help-out program, otherwise a bit pricey. Requires reservation with deposit of £20/pp, although you might get lucky, there were couple of guys today who came without reservation. Nice food, great presentation, cosy atmosphere.
MoreHad to make a last-minute res to feed the family and found Chisou to be a pleasant, high-quality establishment. Service was up the the task of handling small children while maintaining a nice dinner atmosphere for all. Quality of fish was very good!
MoreAmazing place. Great service. Now I understand why my friend wanted to have dinner there !
MoreI absolutely love this place and will be coming back. The food is tasty and filling but you dont get food coma afterwards. Its amazing amazing!! The service is great as well. I recommend you book up in advance.Their chicken and meat is not halal but there are other options to eat.
MoreGlad to find good Japanese food in London.Sashimi was fresh and definitely of high standardService was fantasticIf you crave for Japan food in London, this is a must go place. Highly recommended
MoreOne of the best sushis Ive had and probably the freshest sashimi Ive tasted! The service is great as well, friendly and kind! Definitely try the matcha ice cream for dessert
