Chiringuito Gutierrez Playa - Stand bar in Malaga, Spain
The place has lovely location and very good layout, with straw covered huts and plenty tables. Drinks are served promptly and just sitting there looking at the sea while sipping a drink feels lovely. I guess that can be said of most of the local beach bats/restaurants but this was our experience from early afternoon visit. And we decided to dine there in the evening, the worst decision in Malaga on our holiday. There were warning signs: untidy, disinterested waiters under slight influence, single soiled plastic menu. Food prices somehow convinced us (!they know what theyre doing. Second mistake was to order all food in one go, starters and mainsWe ordered:fried chicken filet,Seafood soupShrimpsDorada fishPargo fishMixed saladFood was not served in order, but thats the least of the problems. Chicken came uncooked and that was the last warning sign to get out of there. I had it cooked properly instead. It was unseasoned and my son declined to eat it after trying a few bites.Seafood soup was much over salted but otherwise good, with healthy pieces of fish and other seafood on it.Shrimps were just heated up and salted. Completely blank taste, we ordered 12 but could not eat more than 3. My daughter who loves seafood got nauseous from the raw sea smell of unseasoned (butter, garlic, hello?meal.Fish was fried with some butter and salt and was somewhat into edible territory, where my wife managed half of her portion with a slightly beaten look on her face (do I really have to eat this?and I managed most of my portion. Both fish was served with some perhaps grilled vegetables (pepper, potatoes, etc.but it tasted so plainly we are hardly any of it.Mixed seafood salad, served as a starter, was the best part of the meal.Overall food experience was scratching on edible, and very very pricey ( just shy of 200 eurosit doesnt deserve more than 2 stars. The way we were served and advised on fish feels like we were totally ripped off. Fish meals with a final price tag on them (15-20 per mealwas discouraged as "very small portions sir, shrimps are tiny sir" and fish on weight was advertised as 20-30 per piece and came out 50-55 per piece. I dont mind paying up for excellent food but 200 for what we got tops my list of "worst top dollar dinner".Summary - avoid this place for anything other than drinks!
You cant go wrong with espetos in Malaga!!!
Great food! As they get quite busy, booking is required and there might be some delay in service but staff are lovely and boquerones al limón was one of my faves!
We introduced our Canadian nephew and his girlfriend to a Spanish chiringuito. Very nice location with really good service. Menu choices were typical of 98%of all chiringuitos. The fish courses were better than the chicken breast which was dry and tough. The wine of course was superb
Good fast service, drinks on time. Didnt try any food as it was a quick visit to the beach. Will try next time.
It was nice , not expensive and delicious
Nice service.Clean beach.
My experience in Chiringuito Gutiérrez is good.We ordered a few tapas, but the quality of each dish was different.Highlight the Espeto; at this point, I doubt you can eat a bad espeto in this town (not meaning raw); the quality of the fish in Malaga is excellent. They were good cooked and flavoured, not much more to say, worth it.We also ordered braised cuttlefish; sad news, they got the order wrong and brought us fried cuttlefish, which was good, but the cut was very thick, making it difficult to chew. Finally, we also ordered a Mixed Salad… not much more to add… AND Gazpacho, which was bland and poorly seasoned. I regretted having ordered this dish despite being one of my favourite foods. Maybe Gazpachuelo is a better option (I didn’t try). The service was good but slow. It was around 22.30h when we arrived, and we finished 2h later, most of the time waiting for the dishes or drinks.Even though the waiters were lovely. THE thing about this place is the location. It was a night of the full moon, on a very chill beach, on a good summer night with 24 degrees… it was the right place, at the right time, but almost the right food.
I dont mind dogs on the terrace, but to have our waiter touch and play with two of them near us prior to serving diners was unacceptable! The Malagueña salad tasted foul and the potatoes were undercooked. A real shame to see how its declined since last year when it was a much better experience.
The beach is great, place is beautiful and prices are ok. But there were a lot of cigarette butts in the sand at our umbrella.
Absolutely dreadful. Would not recommend this place for food or service
Great seafood restaurant in Malaga, with excellent choice. May many items on the menu. Friendly staff. Beautiful spot at the beach
Great spot for lounging, food and a beer
A pleasant spot to have lunch on the beach. Simple but well prepared food. Good verdejo.
This is a very valuable restaurant. In preseason in April only this restaurant stays open for dinner in the area on the beach region. It is a fish restaurant. Not a high quality but if this is the only one that does not really matter. The wine list is quite ok service fast and good. They can close the terrace if it is getting cold which matters in spring time.
Never again, If you are tourist and don’t speak Spanish , than run away, it’s rip off, one plate salad is half tomato 1/4 avocado €14, service very bad , you are elien in the Spanish world, they expect you pay more for nothing, we complained , but it doesn’t matter , they say it’s the price what they have, so keep your money walk to 2 miles Chiringito Amitabha , much better place
We have eaten here a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Great location, good service, great paella 🥘Would definitely go back!
Service has improved a great dealsince November. Well worth a visit now.
Good churros. Even if you dont like sweets
Poor service and hostile waiters. Good food though. Would not recommend.
One of the best places for evening relax on Malaga.Tasty and so delicious dishes, that you dont want to finish your visit. Grilled sardinas and sangria – what else you need for perfect day?🤗Prices – middle. Grilled sardinas (7-8 pieces– 5 euros. Sangria – 6 euros. Dont forget to pay for service (10%).Servise – great! Especially I want to say "thank" for our waiter, who speeks English 😅 Its so rarity for restaurants and cafes in Malaga!
Very good meal and service!
The service isnt good. Specially when compared to other places we tried in the area. I wouldnt recommend. Ill still give it 3 stars because of the location, but I guess this place on a different street would get 1 star.
Excellent customer service. Kind and gentle staff
Some dishes were okay and some were horrible. But nothing was near to enjoyable. They brought us two dishes which we didnt order and forgot one which we did order. The staff was horrible and they didn’t seem to care for the whole mess. The Restaurant itself has a good location but was rather dirty. I recommend to try another seafood restaurant since there are plenty of them at the sea.Summerazied: Horrible experience which I can‘t recommend to anybody and I would never return for a second dinner.
Unfortunately everything was below our expectations. Food is overprized for what you get, atmosphere was bad, cleanliness on toilets etc. way below average... The only star is for the nice location at the beach. Even during Corona times friendlines is something which shouldnt suffer. We definitely will not return.
Great seafood, location and service. Best way to spend an afternoon! Highly recommended, not too expensive, I will certainly go back again.
They charge 6,50 € per person for serving you at the table. We were 5 and we paid in the end 95€ instead of 62,50€. The food was tasty, but is tasty in most of the places Ive eaten in Malaga. Beware!
One of the better restaurants along the beach. Attentive personnel, tasty food, tables in and out. Not far from the main road and parking,
Bad Experience. I have been there with some friends to have a dinner and they had no fish at all. They proposed to us only one fish. It was not bad but we paid 90 euro for a really small fish (see picture).Mala experiencia. Fuimos ahi un lunes por la tarde y no tenian nada. Nos propusieron un pescado que nos saliò muy caro aun era muy pequeno!
Very good drinks in large portions. Weve tried their Piña colada and mojito - both excellent.
Nice beach bar. Very friendly service.Fish was fresh and very tasty.A lot of locals in it , which is always a good sign.Good restaurant.
We expected restaurant but we met really bad staff. The fish looks fresh but the kitchen is a hell tragedy.
Rude. For some reason it was complicated when I walked up and asked if I could sit down for a glass of wine. Well, one guy was rude and condescending; the other was trying to do damage control. I left. To be fair, I get the feeling this isn’t the norm, but try to be polite and just seat a woman!
Excellent seafood restaurant and bar directly at Malaga city beach. Good place to enjoy fresh fish and BBQ seafood, rent an umbrella and sunbeds for 5€ / day.Amazing assortment of fresh fish and seafood. Forget anything you believe about grilled sardines, BBQ squid, anchovies or whatever. Here your fish is grilled outside the restaurant on an open wood fire to perfection. Not burned, not half done, just good!Endless list of seafood and fishes, marinated, grilled, fried. Very popular , reserve sunbeds and lunch / dinner table at weekends.Great Spanish white Valdecuevas Verdejo 2018. Drink it!We got for 3 persons anchovies with lemon / natural (delicious), sardines, octopus Galician style, grilled whole squid, Boyle of white wine for 86€, had difficulties to finish it. Service is friendly BUT let your hotel book for you, otherwise you will get a non preferable table. Taxi/Uber from Malaga old town 9€. Bring cash, sunbeds and service at sunbeds prefers cash. Credit card for the restaurant is okay.
Nice place.. Food not bad.. Price higher but adequate to the place on the Beach . Nice cocktail bar with good bartender... But There was a Lazy and Very slow stuff in restaurant, monday afternoon not full ať all, and service ignore us for Long Long time...
I love this place. The service was amazing. The food was beyond amazing. And the miloha was beyond amazing.I totally recommend this place. I recommend you come early for better service and attention. Around 8pm.
Bad services, not recommended. If you are not a group, they will tell you that everything is finished and they don t have nothing for drink :So, you have to eat and drink like 4 persons :...or you can find another place. And fortunatelly are many places very nice with friendly staff.
We went for a drink. They gave us the menu and 1 minute after, they took the menu saying that if we dont whant to eat, is close for us. There were many clients in and many others arriving. Very disapointing experience!
The service was very poor right from the start. As we entered and were being shown to our table, one of the waiters stood there blocking our way chatting to someone on the phone, looking at us but ignoring us. He didnt seem to want us to go in but we didnt think anything of it at the time. He then took over from the waiter thay showed us in. When we started ordering, he told us that 80% of the things on the menu were not available that day. We asked for mullet and he said they didnt have it. Then he went back and forth to the kitchen several times to check which fish was available. He told us which ones were available. When we ordered those he then said they werent available. Then he came back once more and said mullet was available. When it came it was horrible. The fish was small and not gutted properly. There was hair on the crockery. The waiters, about four of them, stood around and watched us eat and it really felt uncomfortable because I speak basic Spanish and could not understand but it seemed that we were the subject of their interest! Even if they wanted to talk about us they could have done it discreetly as I am sure other waiters do but not so brazenly! We didnt want bread so we asked them not to bring it. But they charged us for it anyway, calling it Servicio on the bill, in addition to the regular service charge which all Spanish restaurants put on the bill regardless. We ordered sea food salad which had mostly green peppers and octopus and a couple of prawns and very few tomatoes. It was okay. We ordered fried eggplant which smelt like fish and was soggy and oily and tasteless. And the mullet was as above also fried even though we asked for grilled in Spanish making sure he understood but he said they couldnt grill it.All in all an awful dirty place with dreadful staff and cook. Go there at your own risk!
Waiter was beyond rude... He was upset because some of his co-workers called out sick. Slow service is an understatement! Dont waste your time and money.
The best location & service. Food is excellent, such a tasty paella and extra large mussels.
Seriously flawed seafood, everything was horribly prepared, dirty plates, tables and napkins. Both of us were ill afterwards. We only ate a few bites and then asked for the check, must happen a lot as they did not seem the least suprised. 30 Euro for 6 horribly undercooked sardines and 5 mushy shrimp.
The beach and the water are great, rented the beach chairs under the fixed palapa style umbrellas. The beer and the soft drinks from the ambulant vendors that pass by every 10 minutes are cold and surprisingly very low priced. Of course you can spend a lot more on the terrace of the restaurant.
This beach is good for short stay. No trees, just sand and houses on the other side.Sunbeds cost 5eur. But if you want to have a drink or snack, you need to go inside the restaurant. Its not very pleasant to do that with bikini in area with nice tables and visitors who are taking lunch.
Overall, great place to eat and enjoy food right at the beach. The seafood was excellent as well as the service by all the the stuff apart from the fact that one of the waiters did not want to work, was not in the mood or something similar because his way of treating customer was not appropiate
Lovely place, good food, fast waiters.
Nicest chiringuito on its strip, staff were so nice and had English. Little bit on the pricey side but totally worth it, fantastic food
Great fresh seafood with a lovely atmosphere and service. The best beach bar in Málaga for trying local treats.
Great seafood right on the beach. Fast and good old fashion service with fresh seafood. Get there early as they run out of your favorites fast! A little run down but still a classic. Tip: dont use the bathrooms as they are quite disgusting.
