No-nonsense, long-standing institution with a drive-thru providing down-to-earth Chinese standards.
I ordered a side of hibachi veggies, they gave me half cooked (still crunchyveggies. I would have rather them tell me they were out then give me something they put in the microwave for 1 minutes. Zero flavor
Food was horrible. Service was terrible and very unprofessional. Garbage.
Great food! Alenna at the drive throw was so polite and very helpful!
Terrible. Food is dry. Not enough portion of meat/chicken. Read reviews before coming here. Everyone is complaining about the same things. Its basically over priced McDonalds Chinese food...
Very pricey for what you get. We ordered our food together, and my rice bowl took almost 15 minutes to come after my husbands plate. He was done eating by the time my bowl came out.The steak and chicken bowl...hide and seek with the meat. Like I said pricey!! There are very small pieces of steak and chicken, and the rice barely filled the bowl. Cant forget the one mushroom crowding out the one piece of broccoli...Weve never seen chicken chow mein made completely with cabbage instead of noodles, but maybe its a new thing? We dined in and they brought mine out in a go box with lid......dont let the door hit ya on the way out. A whole lot of behind the counter flirting going on. Too busy with that to make food.Pot banging and oh, then more pots banging around. Not a zen atmosphere whatsoever. Came hungry ...left hungry. Would not recommend this place. Try Thai pepper or aloha grill. Which are completely amazing and give you enough food.
Waited for over 20 mins to receive cold food! They had nothing prepared, youd think at dinner time theyd have food ready. We use to like this place, however this is the 2nd time we received slow service and cold food. Save your time and go elsewhere.
Not what it used to be. They were better when they were at the other location. The Lo mein noodles are gross
Food was not cooked. Rice/veggies hard, a smattering of beef so small we were wondering what it was. Best part of meal was the cookie.
Just tried new location. Very disappointing!! Rice and veggies under cooked, five little pieces of meat hardly any sauce on both beef and broccoli and the sweet and sour chicken!!! Only thing good was the sodas!! Fried rice has no flavor what so ever. If you want Chinese food go somewhere else. All the other Chinese food places are great with good portions!! I have hit them all.
Panda Express is better. My chow mein was super salty. This is not the same Chinese Kitchen that used to be in Lubbock. I wont be eating here again.
I love this place! This is there new location but its just as good ... They kept the same great food ! Good help and the best egg rolls in town! :Id give it 6 stars if I could!! :)
2nd time in a few months with the same issue. $30 for two meals. Orange chicken meal with only 5 pieces and the wrong kind of rice…hibachi chicken meal with not much more. Definitely not worth the price. Food is good but portions are not worth it for take-out Chinese food. Won’t waste my money again to go back and see if they get better. Annoying.
I’ve eaten at this place since I was young and my grandmother would take me to the old location. I do like the new location and the food mostly retained its goodness. They use fresh ingredients and have no msg. They’re egg rolls are the best in town!
Ordered 2 chicken beef fried rice bowls and one was just chicken.2 orders of cream cheese wontons and only got one. They were not busy so I have no idea how they could drop the ball like that
This was not only the worst Chinese food Ive ever had but they couldnt even be bothered to get my order right. If I could give 10 negative stars it wouldnt be enough!
This place was awesome. Staff super amazing , very friendly . . . . Food was amazing . Atmosphere was pretty sweet.
High priced, mostly bland, Asian inspired food. This is NOT Chinese food. Im biased after living in Taiwan for many years. Its OK for what it is, a sort of glorified Panda Express.
Definitely not my style. Too expensive for the tiny portion size. ODing on the rice does not compensate for the tablespoon size of the main dish. Too salty.Gentleman was helpful with ordering in regards to my dietary issues, but other than that, I will never return.Welcome to the food shortage!
Unsanitary, old food and not worth it. I’ve been here twice, the first time I came I developed a sore throat after, which I couldn’t pin point at the time. This was the last place we visited so it could have been a variety of reasons. The food wasn’t to my liking as the lo mein seemed mushy and the food just seem old in general to me. My husband insisted we go there again three days later, my throat pain had subsided and even though I didn’t enjoy my last visit I figured maybe I’ll give it another shot. Maybe we went at a bad time and he seemed to enjoy his plate. I ordered different food this time but same thing. My son and husband meals were old and the drink tasted like an old dish rag so I had to change it. This time my husband spat his food out because some of his rice was hard and just wasn’t fresh. Unfortunately we threw a lot away because we lost appetite. I felt like my throat pain was coming back in the car and upon returning home my throat was red and puffy again worse than before. Definitely was something unsanitary I ingested from there. This was the first and only place I went to this time and have no symptoms aside from throat irritation. I have no allergies to the food I ordered and despite our meals being old I feel it could be their tea machines aren’t getting cleaned properly.
Not again. We have been visiting Chinese Kitchen for over a year now and have enjoyed their food so far. Our last visit changed that. Not only have they changed their plates to be ½ the size of the original plates, but this image is what they gave me as an adult serving. I ordered fried rice with 2 types of meat: sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken. When I asked why my portion looked the exact same size as my little boy’s portion (a kids meal with fried rice, which they upcharged .50 for, mind you), I was told that I was “allowed” only 5 pieces of chicken. They had “faithfully” put 5 dry sweet and sour chicken on my plate full of rice. No sauce and no sesame chicken…despite ringing the plate up for full price. What is interesting is that the family behind us in line had been talking with one of the other servers as if they knew him. Their tray full of 3 plates was set next to ours as we were paying and that’s when I about lost it. They had heaping helpings of their food. As you can see in the picture, this is NOT worth $10.99 per plate. It is exactly the same in content and size as the kids meal for $5.50. When I questioned the contents of my plate, the young man argued that I was “allowed” 5 pieces. When I asserted that I had ordered 2 types of chicken, he tried to put 2 of the sweet and sour chicken back to add…you guessed it, 2 sesame chicken in its place. By this point, I was boiling and told him I might as well have ordered a kids plate, to which he replied that I couldn’t since I’m an adult. So….apparently, we’re penalizing adults with a $4 upcharge for nothing. Through all of this, NO manager appeared. Not one. Two other employees hovered around but did nothing, said nothing. Finally, a girl who had been working the drive-through window came up and added 5 sesame chicken onto the plate just to move the line. It was embarrassing. It was frustrating. We had already noticed the astonishing change of size in the plates and then this! Sadly, even before all this, a “fast food” style Chinese restaurant didn’t warrant $55 for 4 people (2 adults/2 kidsin the first place. With the smaller plates and then the frustration of how we were served, it REALLY isn’t worth that. This is our last visit.
Food was too salty and beef chewy, and the portions were skimpy, Chinese kitchen you can do better.
Very disappointed in my meal steak Hibachi was very tough and I figured it would be more like the location that was off slide but now just very bland. Probably won’t be coming back if I want for like this I will just go to Panda Express and they have more flavor
A blast from the past. Ours in amarillo closed a long time ago. Got the two choice combo was reasonably priced. Got plenty of food that price. Got and drink with the combos. The chicken chow main was ok but needed more sauce. A tad bit dry. The sweet and sour chicken was wonderful. Had plenty of sauce. Liked they cooked it with the sauce. The egg rolls fresh and hot. Had a good filling in them. The cream cheese wontons had tons of cream chesse in them. Nice and creamy. Nice new building. Very clean and modern. The beef and broccoli was ok but the beef was kind of chewy. Overall a good experience.
Food was decent but the experience was made because of the staff. Friendly, kind and helpful made it a five star.
I Love LOVE Chinese Kitchen! The Hibachi is probably my new favorite item from their menu. Everything is so delish! And they’re always friendly when I drive thru ☺️
My husband and I usually enjoy eating here. I really like the Mongolian barbecue! We came today and turned around and left because the food was dried out looking at had been sitting for so long. So we went across the street to chop chop.
So Ive been eating here since I was 14. Never a problem! A couple of nights ago we were disappointed work our order. Called Josh up and explained to him about our food. He remade our food and it was absolutely perfect! Thank you so much Josh we will continue to come eat there.
Good, a lil too much glaze I ordered the Hibachi Shimp with lo main an a side of rice. Food was good fountain drinks not so... dr.pep was flat Sprite was flat. Just ended up getting water to drink overall Great service.
Food was cold no flavor at all. 2-3 pieces of chicken in the whole plate Not the same at all. We will not be back again.Very disappointed. We need the old Chinese kitchen back. This is chicken teriyaki.
Sunday evening I ordered my 2 choices of Mandarin beef. The vegetables were dry and the onion were so dry you could not eat them. Meat was hard with no juice. I just threw it in the trash. I will find another place to get Chinese food. I will miss eating here because I crave it! After working all day you just want something good to eat. It was terrible tonight. This really makes me sad!!! If you eat there get it FRESH!! !
After a long drive home we decided to stop here for a quick meal for my 9 year old around 9pm. They were out of almost everything she wanted, so we opted for beef and broccoli with fried rice. I get home to open this, it seriously looks liked canned dog food. I will not feed this to my daughter! Do better Chinese Kitchen, this isn’t the only time I’ve gotten food that looked gross, but this crossed the line.
Decided to try a new restaurant with my fiance and our experience was not so great, the date we visited was 02/15/2022 between 3 and 4:30p.m. . The food seemed great to the eye until eaten. Food seemed as if it was over fried and the texture was hard on the batter of the chicken we both had as well as the dumplings and rice. I hope the team notices this comment as well their leaders. I know you all can do better, best of luck.
The counter lady was VERY rude! They dont allow 2 meat choices or a side of meat or anything extra..,chicken is supposed to be honey chicken its very soggy & cold …the egg roll was good that’s about it
Pretty good. Not the original Made to order but made prior snd served quick. Miss the old place and taste. Staff was super nice. Orange chicken was mostly chicken and not batter and came out quick.
Always a good meal. I love this place and their cheese wontons! The sweetest and sour sauce is the best Ive ever had.
This was my first time eating at the restaurant. Staff was fast and friendly. I saw reviews stating it is like Panda Express. The food is a nicer version of Panda but it does come with higher prices. By the time we came back to the table after filling our drinks, the food was already in our table. Very neat little place and the steak hibachi/soup was amazing. I will definitely be coming back soon!
This was the first time I had been to this new location. The building is soooo nice!! The food was still the same, tho - absolutely delicious!!We went thru the drive thru and, if you go, be aware that its a little confusing: they asked us to wait "around back", but it wasnt clear if they meant behind the building or to park on the opposite side of the building. But it was no big deal: I just popped inside and, lo & behold, our order was ready within about 10 seconds!! 😄Also, the portions are very large; I literally got TWO more meals out if it!!
Terrible paid extra for more chicken. Total of three pieces size of popcorn shrimp inside.
Pricey and gross. Makes Panda Express feel like a 5 star restaurant. The noodles were spaghetti noodles. Chicken tasted like it was frozen and then microwaved. Beef and broccoli was 3 huge broccoli pieces and a few tiny pieces of shaved beef. Overall the food had no flavor. but the egg roll was good.
I have eaten here once before and food was good - wish there was more flavor to fried rice but I thought I’d give it another shot. I went through drive through to order 2 hibachi meals and some spring rolls. It took about 25 min to come out - I wasn’t mad because I thought it’d be fresh. Got home and it was cold like it had been sitting there awhile and they forgot about it. I didn’t get my extra rice and veggies and I didn’t get my spring rolls I paid for. I tried to call and couldn’t get through to anyone. Probably won’t be back.
EDIT: The restaurant has changed locations and style of restaurant since I was last here about a year and a half ago. The restaurant is more of a fast food style now rather than a sit in restaurant. It now has a drive thru and a follows a Panda Express style of serving. I added another picture of the same meal that I got the last time and you can see the similarities and differences. I also wanted to share my new review for the new experience I had.The sesame chicken wasnt as saucy (which is what I usually preferas last time, but more of a sticky style. The fried rice was an additional $0.50 which Im ok with, but it was a little bland. Other than that, I enjoyed the meal and was satisfied! The design of the plate is a bit deceiving in how much rice it holds. Im not used to that style and when I sat down I didnt think there was enough rice, but there was. The chicken itself is still large pieces which I still had to cut in half to eat, so it really was double the amount you see. Its a different style and I like the change in pace it is. The highlight of the meal was the egg roll and sweet and sour sauce. It was a good size egg roll and fit well with the meal. When I finished the meal I felt like it filled me up nicely and was plenty of food to eat. Oh and when I went to return my tray the store had fortune cookies available in a basket to grab. I liked that, because I didnt need to go and ask for one.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I dont live in the area, Im from out of state. I was looking for some Chinese food and for something to grab real quick between meetings. I ordered sesame chicken and an egg roll. I was very satisfied with the taste of everything. When I opened my container, I was disappointed with the about of chicken I received, until I started eating. The chicken is huge! I had to cut the chicken into smaller pieces to eat to eat them. Even the fried rice and egg roll had great flavor. It has been the best Ive had in awhile. The person who took my order today, Charles, was very polite and welcoming. If I lived in the area I would come back here frequently.
Went here for the first time 7/3/2021. The restaurant was super clean and the staff was friendly. The food was excellent. We have been looking for a Chinese food restaurant to replace one we used to frequent, which has undergone some unfortunate management changes and has done downhill as a result. We are very impressed with Chinese Kitchen and will be back often.
I took a friend to the new Chinese Kitchen on Milwaukee. I was expecting it to be great like the one on slide that I have always gone to but it is not. I loved the fried chicken with the dipping sweet and sour sauce but on Milwaukee it’s all together no more fried chicken with the sauce on the side. The noodles had no flavor on them was very disappointing in the new Chinese Kitchen, I will go back to the one on Slide and hope it hasn’t changed.
New place is much cleaner (of course). We went around 3pm and the food did not look fresh, but when I asked they did make some fresh Mandarin Beef. Then they double charged me, but corrected his mistake.Food was good. The Beef Lo Mein Bowl is not enough for a teenage boy, but delish.
The customer service was good here but my wife and I was not impressed with the food. They flavor was not all that good. There was not any spicy chicken and the serving of meat were less meat and more vegetables then anything. My wife and I got a few different things so we could try alil more options. But none were enough to make us want to return here she will return to panda and Ill return to china star since Genghis Grill closed. The customer service got the third star here.
Wow! Awesome customer service at the Milwaukee Avenue location. My family and I have always enjoyed Chinese Kitchen. Today, I went in the restaurant to order 3 Hibachi grill dinners. I was waiting in the dining area for my orders when the Regional Manager walked up and introduced himself. He asked to see my receipt. When I handed it to him, he looked at the time of my order and commented that I had been waiting too long. I really did not think it was taking too long as the cooks prepare the food when it is requested. He then told me that he was going to buy my meal because of the wait, which he said was unacceptable. I sure did appreciate his attention to prompt service. We always enjoy our meals, and the staff is always kind and very hospitable. Great restaurant! My family and I thank you.
The building, staff and the food are AMAZING! They have a huge variety of items to help your cravings! My favorite is the sweet and sour chicken and lo mien noodles and same for my daughter! The steak hibachi is also AMAZING! If you havent stopped to try it you need to! You wont be disappointed! Thank you Chinese Kitchen for always greeting my family and I with a smiling face and great food!
Love the new building! So clean and love the new hip updated decor! The food is always hot, fresh and always so good! They make the best egg rolls in town!Love their deals too! As a matter of fact - we got Chinese Kitchen for my moms birthday lunch! Keep it up CK!
Wow, new management has a difference! Food is great & fresh. Stop by and check out the Wednesday specials. Excuse the pic it was to good to wait!
I guess i havent been there since they have renovated it. But it is cleaner so much nicer. No habachi grill they cook it in the back. But food was so good as always. I will always return to a business that give military discounts. Thank you for supporting our troops!
