China Town Restaurant - Chinese restaurant in Funchal, Portugal
Sushi ( Buffet ), all was good people very friendly, 5*
Great food and prices. Well worth a visit.
Lovely food and friendly staff
Food was very nice. Waitress and waiter pleasant. Manager not so much. Cross and impatient. Smoking allowed inside, big turn off. Definitely would not return.
i found this place absolutely appalling, the rice i got was undercooked, service took ages and the sushi was warm and tasted off. don’t recommend
3rd visit lovely food friendly staff
Nice place and good food! Real chinese taste!
This is a must go restaurant for me and the wife. We have been on a previous holiday and found it just as good an experience this time.
The dining room was excessively hot. Clearly I would have had a good experience if I were seated outside.
Great Chinese. Never had a bad meal. Been visiting here a quite a few years.
I am baffled. What an experience. The restaurant staff should look up the meaning of ‘customer service’, because this was just wrong all around. I don’t know if they were rude or just didn’t care at all. I have also never seen so many pieces of cutlery being dropped by different waiters in one place. They served us completely dry and tasteless boil-in-bag rice (bagged rice in an Asian restaurant!).So not worth it.
China Town Restaurand .My wife and myself had a nice Chicken Curry meal their last Sunday. The Restaurant was not busy, probably as its only the start of the holiday season. I found the meal was good ,well prepaired and presented well. The staff were nice and also professional. We have not seeing other Chinese Restaurants on our travels .You wont go to wrong with a visit to Chinatown Restaurant.G.W.
Awful service, rude staff and to top it off the sushi was the worst I’ve had
The food was OK, but we got a dirty glass and in our bill there was an extra dish that we didnt order. We got our money back, probably an honest mistake, but be sure to check your receipts before you pay
Food was tasty and plentiful. Good service and a reasonably priced menu. Only let down by the smell of cigarette smoke coming from the tables outside. As a non-smoker, I find this spoils a pleasant experience.
Been a few times. Not so good this time.
Very welcoming food was excellent manager and staff very attentive definitely go again and again 😀
Sitting here at the moment, stunningly slow service. Avoid. We eventually got our mains, but one of the dishes was wrong! We didnt send it back as we couldnt wait another hour for the replacement.
Fantastic food. Great quality. Perfect service.
This is one of the worst restaurants Ive ever beaten by take all the food just from the freezer and heat it up or you leave fry the everything is super sugary and heavy this has nothing to do with Asian or Chinese food absolutely not recommended to go there
One of the best Chinese restaurants Ive been to.
Very nice food, I had sweet and sour chicken, it arrived not swimming in sauce, the Chinese spring rolls were large and tasty
food ok , Nice place but .... Hm
Authentic Chinese food (even you also get the less authentic one like fried spring roles and other absurditiesat ok prices. Friendly service.
The chow mein was delicious, good price,Nice relaxing near by the window seat !
Too much time to be served. One of the drinks we got had ants on the glass.
Food is fine, very nice in fact. Better than it used to be a couple of years ago when we last came to Madeira.Annoying background music which is too loud. Having said that its probably to drown out the awful music from across the road at another restaurant. Also doesnt help when the waiter decides to subtract his own tip from the change. He put it right when challenged so we will put it down to a honest mistake this time.
Food is good, but service not very friendly
Good buffet including Japanese sushi and sashimi as well as Chinese dishes. Some portions are large, such as the Chinese egg rolls.
Similar price to other restaurants with the igredient freshness we should expect from chinese restaurant. There is also japanese cuisine, so best of both worlds.
Sat waiting for a takeaway that said 20mins, 40mins later I call to check its coming only to be told they dont deliver to u.k mobile number even though they never said this when I placed order, fuming!!! Rubbish service!
Very poor customer service, slow delivery of food, staff unfriendly to the point of being rude and they treat non locals with contempt. Quality of food was over shadowed by the experience, other better restaurants in the area.
Really very good chinese food. Picante duck 1 perfect. We visited You almost every day during our stay at Funchal.Perfect Service, big thanks for the windmill - it saved lives during the heat.Pekin duck - best, we’ve ever eat ♥️ !!! Hope se You again.
We had no reservation and they could accommodate a table for two inside at 2000. It was not very busy.We ordered our meal. The service was fantastic. The food was very authentic but too salty. We did not have dessert.
This was my second visit. Food took a while to arrive but they were very busy and I could see they were trying their best.In my opinion well worth the wait.
Tasty food. However bad and slow service.Long wait to get orders and long wait to get food.Staff seems cold and distant towards clients.
It was alright. As vegans the choices were extremely limited, I would have liked more vegetable dishes on the menu.Service and food was okay.
Worst customer service. Took forever to get any food and the all you can eat menu is a joke-limited and some things you can only eat once. They refused to give us gyozas because they did not have, yet people who ordered a la carte got them next to us. We stayed forever without drinks too. Chinese younger lady is just rude, no hospitality skills. On a more positive note, the food that did get to us was fresh.
I wish I could give no stars! Please do not waste your time or money. Horrible service, dirty and the food is disgusting. I definitely would not recommend. This is just a fast food place trying to pretend its a restaurant. What a joke!
Sorry that this place not same as previous visits, walked out after an hour with only having soup !!!Never experienced such customer service especially in Madeira. Been visiting this island for last 16 years and disappointed. Paid for drinks and soup then left. !!
Food was nice. Service was pretty good although maybe a little under staffed.......covid probably to blame. We had a lovely meal and time.
Wish I could give no stars. The service there is the worst. The Chinese lady was nice, but the waiters who were Portuguese were extremely rude. We waited at least 15 minutes to order and another 15 minutes to get the check after having asked twice. The waiter that served us passed by us a few times and just ignored us. There was no “hello,” there was no “thank you,” not even a good bye when we were leaving. The waiter just slammed stuff at our table and treated us like an annoyance when we were trying to pay. Oh and this is a Chinese restaurant, they don’t give out chopsticks!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! This place has ridiculously poor customer service. Arrived at the entrance and was left standing for more than 5 minutes. Ordered food which then took 1hr 45 minutes to arrive. The place wasnt even that busy. Most of the other tables had long waits as well. When questioned why it took long... They just blamed the kitchen. The food isnt even that good to warrant the wait. Bland and doesnt even taste like Chinese. If you want bland food and to wait hours for your food... Then this is the place
Great sushi but the worst customer service I have experienced in Madeira! We went to this restaurant for the Rodízio lunch (which is all you can eat). The sushi was very good here, very fresh and tasty. However, what let this place down completely was the staff. First of all when I went to order the pieces of sushi I wanted, the waitress told me that I couldnt have the pieces I wanted as it would take the chef too long to make....em what?! So we ordered the combo which took about 25 minutes to arrive. At this point the restaurant wasnt that busy. After this first order of sushi, the waitress avoided our table. I had to call another waiter over who also stopped writing down our order half way through and then told us we couldnt order two portions of the same sushi because we already had ordered it....it came in 2 small pieces so are we only allowed 1 piece each? This was only our second order of food, it wasnt as if it was our tenth order! Why on Earth do you promote your restaurant as an All You Can Eat if you dont want your customers to actually eat more than 5 pieces of sushi!I noticed a lot of other tables around us who arrived an hour later than us and in the space of time we had ordered two plates of sushi they had received numerous plates of Chinese food and sushi to their tables! It was absolutely ridiculous service and I felt devalued as a customer. Its like they want you to fill up on Chinese food and not order sushi. If thats the case then dont offer all you can eat sushi...We wont come back here. There are plenty of other amazing sushi restaurants we have tried in Madeira and they have great food and great customer service.
Amazing chinese cuisine, thailandese and sushi. Excellent service, everything is made with love and caring.
10€ for 4 mediocre and stale Shu Mai hurt. But what can you do when theres not much Asian food on the island and you get cravings. Had beef with mushrooms and bamboo, too, little bit better than the appetizer but all in all bland and forgettable. They do not have an English menu available on the takeout apps so I dont even know if they have typical Chinese dishes besides the shu mai.
After looking at the menu downstairs we decided to have the sushi lunch. We carried our baby cart up the stairs. We got seated. After we ordered our drinks we were told "no tuna available" ..Ok. After they brought our drinks we were told : "You need to order now what you need bcuz the kitchen will close at 3 pm. This was at 220 pm. No discount was offered after we mentioned all this to the manager.
Disappointing meal. Staff was unfriendly and rude. The apetizer were not freshly prepared (fried shrimps, most likely convenience). The main dishes, sweet and sour chicken and cashew chicken with chestnuts, were not even close to real Chinese/ Thai food. The sweet and sour was only sweet and consisted mostly of dough with little chicken and some pieces of apple and canned peaches. The cashew chicken was in a curry sauce with real chest nuts (not water chest nuts). All together I would have given two stars if the two men weren‘t that ignorant and did not even discuss our complaints with us. The female waitress was friendly.
After having eaten here several times over a ten year period and having delicious meals, we returned last night - what a mistake ! We ordered crispy peking duck and pancakes as a starter. The duck was cold - as were the plates - and the pancakes were like uncooked dough - so much so that they were folded in quarters and we were unable to unfold them and roll them up. To follow, we had beef in oyster sauce, Singapore noodles and egg fried rice. The egg fried rice was cold , the Singapore noodles were not Singapore noodles, and were also cold. The beef in oyster sauce was hot at the outside and cold in the middle - hadn’t even been microwaved properly - it also tasted of dog food ..... or dog meat ! No part of our meal had seen a wok or been freshly cooked - the people on the table next to us were of the same opinion. We will NEVER go there again, and strongly urge other people not to waste their money - absolutely shocking !
This is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever eaten in clean and tidy great food and service well worth the 5 stars
