China Kitchen in Muncie

Went here a few months ago…food was terrible! Went back again today to give it another try…my chicken was dry and looked old, pork fried rice bland and my egg roll was like cardboard covered rubber. No plan to ever go back. Don’t waste your money here.

Good local food and reasonable prices. Fast service!

Portion size is half what it was but quality is excellent. Much better than before.

Ordered Hunan Shrimp but was given Hunan Beef instead, Called to tell them the mistake and the cook said I was wrong. The girl told me to send her a picture. Sent a picture and never received back a response. I will never order from them again!

Chicken mixed vegetables and and sweet and sour chicken is decent good ol Chinese food. Egg rolls are usually greasy so I dont get them, but regular Chinese food is pretty good and great prices.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants I always love going to. The food is awesome. Every time my wife and I are wanting Chinese we always go to this restaurant even though its a bit of a drive for us.

If only I could do 0 stars‼️I ordered a take out of Egg Drop Soup and Chicken Chopsuey (comes with steamed rice).I ate in the Car coz I was waiting for my son to wake up (if he was awake, hes gonna eat the food toocoz we had to go to Payless after eating..Ate some of the egg drop soup first then the chopsuey (not good but it was okayishthen the rice. The rice was bad spoiled!!🤮 I am Asian and I know rice. Rice is easy to cook too. But this one was really spoiled and when I smelled it, it smell spoiled!! The kitchen people should know that their rice is bad if they check it, but I guess they dont check their food?🤷‍♀️ It was BAD BAD‼️I returned the whole meal, I told the person in the cashier that the rice is spoiled. Then he was like "you want refund for the rice?". I was like no, I want a refund for the whole meal!Then he checked how much I ate out of the soup, then checks on the Chopsuey on how much I ate (which I had only 1 bite).. And in my mind I was like seriously??!!They did not even apologize or feel sorry about it‼️ and that is bothersome‼️ They acted like they dont care!! He can see that I am pregnant, I am 19 weeks pregnant and yet they care less!! They dont care at all‼️

The chicken in the Cashew Chicken was very poor quality. Mostly fat, skin and hardly any white meat. We will not be going back

The food was horrible. This restaurant has went downhill the last couple months. Not sure whats changed but wont eat there again for very long time.

Wouldn’t answer phone 50 mins before closing to place a pick up order.

They get hair in their food. Disgusting. This has happened twice: A very pronounced black hair cooked into an egg roll. And one or two LONG strands of black hair cooked into Hunan beef. YUCK. Ive given China Kitchen a lot of business over years. But Im done. Also: Their stir fry dishes are needlessly oily. And they serve old, tired egg rolls. I will try my fortunes at Dumpling House (several meters awayor Ninja of Japan (next door). Good bye, old friends. May I suggest "hair nets," guys?

Talk about good food hell yeah this is definitely best Chinese food in Muncie.Dining room area needs upgrade but other than that best food.

They do cook with MSG but IMO they have the best Chinese in town

We ordered 2 sczchaun beef combination dinners spicy they had only 4 small pieces of meat in each dinner also the egg rolls had hardly any filling sad this used to be a good place to eat it was very bland no spices at all

Disappointed. First time ordering so we got five different entrees. Everything was very wet like a soup. Greasy too. The chicken curry was almost completely onions. Didnt recognize the General Tao, it looked like Kung pow. Live and learn.

Great staff, amazing delivery drivers, good kitchen workers and awesome food. Customer service is spot on. Best Chinese food in all of Muncie.

So Im not sure whats going on with them lately but the last few times that Ive ordered my food has been over-cooked, wrong and not as tasty as usual. It saddens me because I order weekly if not more. If things dont change Im going to have to find another place to order from.

They messed my order up so I waited for them to remake it only for then to mess it up again! Then they ask if I would just take the 2nd messed up order so they wouldnt have to attempt to fix it a 3rd time. When i wasnt happy about accepting something i paid for and did not want/order they acted mad/irritated. Ridiculous. Will NOT be going back. They had no problem taking my money but too lazy to make what I ordered correctly.

I have ordered several times from China Kitchen for pickup and delivery, all the times have been good, no problems with staff or food.

I used to be a big supporter of their menu and service, but the past few months it seems like they do not care anymore. Their up front staff is rude and act like youre bothering them by ordering food. It doesnt matter if its pickup or delivery, youre treated like a bother to them. Its not the same anymore

DONT EAT HERE🤢🤢I went there bc of a crackheaded reviewer saying they were the best in town, I even mentioned that when I ordered. The girl said,"yeah, I only eat here."Mongolian beef had 8 times more onions than beef, the peas and the rice were barely warmed in the fried rice. The chicken on a stick was slimy😭😭😭. The best thing was the fortune cookie. At least my company paid for it and not me😅😅😅

Would have given zero stars, had it allowed me. I had forgot that I had a credit for a free meal because they messed mine up. I called today to get that meal. You would think that since it was a redo meal, that they would have paid extra special attention that it was good. NOPE!!!! My rice had a metal shaving in it. The home style rice and egg roll was cold and tasted like it was straight warmed up out of the refrigerator. Terrible!!!! I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt by getting my order replaced. Guess I should have just got my money back!!! Will never eat here again. Used to love this place. I dont know if they changed ownership or what, but it needs some work... Tried to post a picture of the metal shaving, but it wouldnt let me or I dont know how.

Food was so bland it’s disturbing, even with requested extra spiceyness. I kid you not the chow fun was like a bowl of thawed veggies served in snot. Flavorless but a little salty and the liquid was disturbingly slimy and thick. Took one bite and threw it out, as much as I hate wasting food it made me nauseous to look at. Fried rice had the texture of day old refrigerated rice and they forgot the drinks. Most edible thing in the whole order was the fortune cookies.

I used to get this place all the time and it was great, but this last time it wasnt very good. They apparently changed owners or something. The shrimp fried rice was the same nasty rice they overloaded the meals with. It wasnt fried at all, just had shrimp mixed in. The meals were half of what they used to be, mainly just the nasty rice they serve with a few pieces of the actual meal you ordered added in. And it was bland. The fried dumplings were still good though. Still some of the best that ive found around here, which makes it worth the trip

I absolutely love this place but, it would really be helpful if they posted, on their website, that they are actually closed on certain holidays. Instead, they put up "Holiday may vary hours".

Food was great. The guy that took the order over the phone said it will be 15 minutes to be ready, I get there and it was ready. Thumbs up guys I will go back for sure

Ive been coming here for years. Today, my 11 and 15 year old sons came in to pay for our takeout with (2 $10 bills and (1$5 bill. Our total was $20.20. The gentleman at the counter told my boys they were short $0.20 but he would cover it. Now I double checked what I gave them and so did they before they got out of my car and walked directly into the store. When I went in the store for my change he argued with me, saying the boys didnt have enough money. I asked if he could count his drawer to be sure and was met with hostility and told "I already did!" He took $5 from the drawer and slammed it on the counter saying "guess that will come from my check". No sir it will not, I paid the correct amount, you tried to rip off 2 kids because you thought you could. Last visit for me to this business, and I will be sure to tell everyone to count their money to the cashier at China Kitchen should they go there!

Came in and ordered chicken fried rice ×3 all white meat-pretty easy. Careful everybody they throw dark meat in it. Ruined everything. Shady and low down. Cheap

Ive been ordering from China Kitchen for more than 10 years and slowly their food has decreased in quality while prices have went up little by little .I used to speak highly of them but I cant anymore my last order is the last time Ill ever eat from there because they forgot half of my order and the contents decline in the quality of their food.It was nice while it lasted so Ill be looking for somewhere else to get my Chinese food from for now on.

Ordered curry chicken with XXX curry and extra liquid. Received order and could not smell or taste ANY curry at all and almost no sauce of any kind. Boneless spareribs had funky odor and were dried out. Fried rice was bland. Only good thing was fried dumplings. Waste of $39.15. First and definitely last time I order from there.

All about money not customers service. Will wait until your card goes through and then tell you there’s a hour to hour and 30min wait. Didn’t even tell me how long it would take for my refund to come back. Last time ordered the food was cold.

This place was pretty good until recently. Ive ordered a couple of things online extra hot and they came to me very bland. Today I ordered egg drop soup for lunch. No seasoning whatsoever in the soup. Its like thick water with egg in it. Tried calling, no answer. Tried submitting contact form on website, wouldnt send. I give up!

This place is normally spot on. They changed the general tsos sauce and it was disgusting. Couldnt eat it. Like I said I ear here once a month or more in the winter. I will continue to eat here but I might also try other places.

For the BEST EVER Chinese food 🍱 you can’t go wrong with China Kitchen! And it’s JiJi approved!They have a new menu item that made me drive from Marion to Muncie-yes! It’s that good! For dinner!

Mixed messages! The chicken with almonds was so saturated with garlic it was not edible. Tossed it in the trash. The sweet and sour chicken and egg rolls were good.Regrettably, the floor in the customer service area and small dining area is beyond filthy with gobs of ground in dirt in plain sight. Dont be surprised if it feels like your shoes are sticking to the floor

This place was closer to my house, so i went here instead of my normal place. General tso is my favorite thing to order. This was the HARDEST pieces of burnt tasting chicken ive EVER had. This should have been FREE. Instead of the $10.00 I paid. Smh EVERY DISAPPOINTED

Best Ive had ANYWHERE in the continental U.S. She even stayed late to wait for me after closing time for 45 minutes! Incredible lady and incredible food! Wish I could give more stars!

Hit or miss, when its good it is probably the best Ive ever had. Really great.But sometimes you can tell you got an old batch of Tsos Chicken, and you can tell its just not fresh.

Terrible food. Ordered orange chicken and General Tso’s chicken with extra broccoli. Both tasted the same, no difference. Three pieces of broccoli. Chicken was rubber and probably cooked three days ago. Hot and Sour soup was water with floating veggies. Never again. Worst Chinese food I’ve ever tasted. Filthy inside the restaurant. How does this place even stay in business??

I ordered online at 2:30ish for delivery. I ordered general tso lunch because that is the only way I found it. I also ordered sweet and sour pork .. large. When I received my food at 3:40ish the pork for my sweet and sour pork was still steaming hot. That is the only good thing I have. There was no sweet and sour sauce and when I called .. they put me on the list with no ETA on when I would get it. Opened the container of the General tso and it looked like it was from lunch .. barely warm and it was in a plastic container when the pork was in a normal cardboard container that was filled so much it wasnt even closed. The broccoli in the General tso was dried out and the fried rice was also barely warm with no taste. Definitely wont be order from them again. Between the wonderful (notcustomer service and the food itself..not going to happen. I received my sweet and sour sauce at 4:25. He almost didnt even leave it. I got to the door in time. Supposed to be "no contact" and I have little tables next to the door on both sides. Unfortunately this was not a good experience. I did not give one star because the order was correct just not all delivered and the pork was really good. But when I called and was told that there were 3 deliveries in front of me and he could not give me an ETA on when I would get something that was literally the biggest part of the dish that did it for me. I totally understand accidents happen. Things get missed. But you are telling me that your driver couldnt bring it out with the next delivery? No problem. Just wont be ordering from them again. And make sure when you are getting delivery that you know who is actually bringing it!!

Ordered takeout from China Kitchen for the first time today. No bad experience here and service was really fast. One thing my husband loves about China Kitchen compared to other restaurants is that they have Orange Beef on their menu, which is something that he hasnt eaten since he last lived in Florida. I also like how large their portions are compared to other restaurants. For example, a order of spring rolls come in a pack of 4, compared to just 2 in other restaurants. Will be ordering again sometime in the near future 😀 Thank you!

Its ok. I do like some things here. Ive eaten here many times over past 10 yrs. However they did fight my husband last time he said he wanted his food really spicy. So you know they did change some menu items! When they warn you its hot they mean it.

Great food, and wonderful service.They have a large selection of dinner and lunch items to choose from.They offer walk in, delivery, and pick up orders.They have a dinning area for those who want to eat there.However, it is a small area, and lacking in atmosphere. In my opinion this aspect is the only drawback to the place.Still, there food makes them a most for anyone who loves Chinese food in Muncie.

General Tso chicken was way over cooked. Chicken in the chicken fried rice was not hardly cooked at all. Crab Rangoon was only good thing. Kid working the front counter was rude and discussed an interaction that happened earlier with a customer. Very dissatisfied. Will not return!

This used to be my favorite place to eat but not any longer! Terrible experience today! General Tso’s was over cooked, barely any chicken and mostly breading. I ordered chicken fried rice and the chicken was still raw!! The boy running the counter when we walked in was too busy having a conversation with a girl behind the counter about his bad hair cut to properly wait on us then proceeded to tell another employee about an altercation with a woman regarding free water! Very unprofessional!! My family will not return to this establishment! Very disappointing!

Ive never had food poisoning until I ate here! I had pork dumplings, and they must have been undercooked! Please stay away! They are better choices in Muncie with better food handling. Dont risk eating here, because its late and you are hungry. You will regret it the next day when you are sick from eating food with bacteria

Really have never had any issues for over 7 years until today when I received my order it wasnt correct. Spent 10 min on the phone with a man that kept saying what do you want me to do about it. Also just an FYI its better to pay with credit for delivery... their delivery drivers do not carry change so it creates a "oh I need to go get change and come back" which in turn made feel bad so I gave a larger tip. Whether it was meant that way or not it still put me on the spot. We will go next door from now on to Ninja of Japan even if it means having to pick it up.

Usually a great food experience... I called and got asked to hold, got placed on the counter not on hold.... Listening to a 20 minute conversation about someones boyfriend. Tried calling from my other phone to let them know they didnt actually place me on hold... They put call 2 immediately on hold! Line 1 still talking about boyfriend with a brief pause to put line 2 ON HOLD!Edit)line 1 still NOT on hold... Ordered food elsewhere from line 2, its a shame I love this Chinese place! Now I want to know how long it takes for someone to realize Im Not on hold!!!

The customer service is lacking, but I have always been impressed with China Kitchen. So many times I have ordered from other asian food places to find the food overcooked and drowning in sauces. The steamed vegetables at China Kitchen are always crisp and vibrant in color, and actually taste like they are supposed to. I love how they offer the diet dishes, with the option to have sauces on the side. The portions are so generous, my husband and I share a meal, and each of us are able to season it to our own liking.

This was my first experience with China Kitchen. I called in to place my order and the lady said thank you and hung up before even telling me how long or how much. When I went in to pick it up, there was a nice man there but the woman was crabby and preoccupied in a conversation. She paid me no attention other than to run my credit card and give me my food. I did not feel like my business was appreciated.The food was just as bad as the service. It was very bland. I ordered Hunan Chicken which has a very distinct flavor and is supposed to be spicy. It wasnt even close to how its supposed to taste, had only broccoli and green peppers (its supposed to have a variety of vegetablesand was not spicy at all. Also, we ordered Beef LoMein and it was pretty bad too. Again, it was very bland and dry. The egg roll was dry and gross. They did not include any sauces in my bag. I will never order here again. Yuck!
