THIS place has the BEST AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD at reasonable prices. They make it fresh, with generous portions. Bottom line: YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!Too bad theres not another one out here near Wadsworth.

Its aaaight. Food was fine. Inside of the store is "lackluster" some would say but who has time to clean a lobby when youre busy taking orders and cooking food 🥴. I just would never want to know what it looks like behind that plexiglass.And for the love of God, get a weaker spring for that damn door. If you have to put a sign up saying to close it gently then maybe replace the hardware guys.

I’ve been coming to China garden since I was a kid my favorite place to eat !! But today the food was just disgusting. No meat in the beef w/broccoli. Orange chicken had no flavor. Egg rolls were still raw. It’s just so sad that this place went down hill .. I come all the way from round lake just for Chinese food & it just breaks my heart since there is a new owner they don’t seem to care about the quality of the food.. Definitely won’t be coming back anymore<3

Best Beef Lo Mein in town!!

If i could i would give this place a zero. I ordered orange chicken and it was so hard to the bite, when i looked at the chicken i realized it was undercooked and hard and looked brown on the inside which was disgusting to look at after taking my first bite. The lo-mein tasted burnt and gross as if they had been burning the food and re-using a burnt pan. I tried to like it and took a couple bites from the lo-mein and just had to throw everything away. I was sick from those couple of bites the rest of the night. I wish I could get a refund on my order. Will not be returning for sure.

We were so disappointed with the food. The shrimps in the fried rice was not cooked. It tasted like they were raw. The pepper steak was not good, tasted like it was process meat. Very dissatisfied customers. Went straight to the trash.

I was in line to pick up my order.. one lady skipped the line and the lady given orders did not care about it . I didnt say nothing cause I dont like to argue for a turn. But when it was my turn to get my order I was astonished that the lady giving the the orders ignored me and give an order to someone behind me in line. I felt upset and told the lady whats wrong with yuo. Yuo dont take care of customers according to the order they are in line? And she just frowned and took it for granted. I been a china garden customer for years but now I dont recommend to buy at china garden. Sadly they do not respect the first come first serve policy. They just care about who brings them the bigger money.

Wow, did someone new cook today? The beef fried rice was flavorful, the color was just right, the texture of the rice was perfect, not too soft nor hard just right! The fried chicken delicious, the fries werent greasy or soggy, very good. Just one thing, the vegetable egg roll, good - but too small. (KEEP COOKING LIKE THIS, I WILL KEEP COMING HERE FOR MORE!June 12, 2022.

They overcharged my credit card. This is what happens when kids work the register. DCSF should look into the child labor laws at this places. 10 yr olds are swiping credit cards overcharging customers. The food is below average in comparison.

The food is very delicious, but the portion size is really what makes it so worthwhile to go. I got Crab Rangoon, a plate of potstickers, and sesame chicken for dinner and it fed me and my brother and we had some left over for tomorrow’s lunch as well for about $25. Attention New Owners, since the previous owners left last year 2021, the food that you prepare is not the best here, please step up your game. Your fried rice needs more flavor, no egg in the fried rice, fried rice is soggy and too soft, we dont like that, please fix this!Also your french fries are too greasy, please let them drip before serving or even for take out. One more thing to many peppers and onions in meat dishes. Please fix this or I wont go there anymore😬, and you wont get too many customers. April 2022

Poor service I order shrimp egg rolls and they have me pork and my large beef fried rice had only 10 pieces of meat in it I will never order here again

This restaurant has consistently prepared food I have ordered in a quick, abundant and tasty manner. Prices are better than expected, and all taken together make thus establishment a weekly stop.

Ordered one of the more expensive dishes a combination of shrimp, beef, pork, chicken, and vegetables with the "house special sauce." Unfortunately, the dish is 50% broccoli which is the cheapest vegetable, only two shrimp and the "special" sauce has no flavor whatsoever. Very disappointing. However, everything was cooked to perfection and the meat is quality and tender. Just needs a better sauce. Also, their spicy dishes are not spicy at all, but if you order extra spicy its perfect.

So good! I was watching Big Bang Theory around 8pm and they were eating Chinese takeaway and I haven’t had it in years. This did not disappoint. Amazing portion for the price. The veggies and meat seemed so fresh and the sauce wasn’t overly salty. I was sad it didn’t come in the little white boxes that I remember growing up. Even so, this will be my go to. Sorry Panda Express :)

Always loses my order because they can’t have bothered to ask for my phone number twice. Have lost a couple of orders due to the lack of organization.

Maybe its the COVID cur back but this was flavorless to us.(familyused our own soy sauce to help it out tremendously.

My go-to Chinese spot in Waukegan for the past few years. Family-owned, and Id love seeing the kids drawings on the wall. Food is good too. I really just alternated between General Tsos and Sesame Chicken -- classics. Always ready for pickup quick, and lunch specials are priced great. Thank you!

None of our food had any flavor! Asked for more Duck sauce and hot sauce and got 3 hot 0 duck. Will NEVER go back. BERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

The only place I go to for Chinese food! Everything is perfect. My favorite is their beef and broccoli!!! Everything is so flavorful! Love their egg drop soup!!! Great egg rolls! We have gotten many different things from their menu and have never been disappointed! Everyone is so nice. Love China Garden!

My default "Go-To" for Chinese. The ordinary experience is all there. Entrees come in those reusable Tupperware containers. The soy sauce is at the bottom of the bag with your fortune cookie. The plastic forks are flimsy, but I love that. Its all typical family owned, taste like typical food, no surprises, and thats why it gets five stars.

Lately the soup is so salty, my shrimp egg foo young was burnt on the bottom of the patties tasted also like burnt food. The quality is going down. So sad we thought this was the best of it kind around.

I ordered the shrimp fried rice, fried 5 pc fish and a package of almond cookies. Everything was good I just wish the fish was fried crispy. When I return, Ill ask if thats possible. Very nice people and the price was reasonable.

I have been Waukegan for my entire life and when I was little there used to be a lot place to eat here. Now since Im my late 40s I miss everything that I used to go. Thought that I would never find a good restaurant here. Hillarys Bar B Q is a good restaurant that still around but I wasnt in the mood for it. One day I called my sister so we can hangout. She told me about this restaurant so I went to try it and it gave me flashbacks of my childhood and all the good restaurants I used to go in Waukegan as a kid. I really love this place.

Only been here twice but my husband got us food from here for the 1st time it was so good we had too go back he order shrimp fried rice with sesame chicken and the fried rice with spare ribs I ordered the fried rice with sesame chicken and pork egg rolls everything was on point each time.....

Their food is truly amazing and their workers are really amazing and nice. Their orange chicken is good and the white rice is the best compared to others. I recommend this place 24/7.

Ordered sweet and sour chicken to get home and they forget the sweet and sour sauce. So when I called back they say well credit your account. To call back and place another order to here the credit was for $1.00 off lol

I really like their take out here. Everything was made fresh and it all tasted great. The service was pretty fast. They had me in and out of the store in 15 mins with a decent sized order. Highly recommend anyone to stop by.

Ordered take out for the first time today since all the reviews were good. Overall food was edible but, Im definitely not going to be ordering from here again

An excellent place for a low-key, relaxing meal with friends. Tasty food, excellent value. Dont be turned off by the sketchy exterior and the disposable plates and utensils. Service is good and the food is delicious, comfort food. The inside is not upscale by any stretch but has plenty of booths and is decorated with quaint, homemade decorations including childrens drawings and old elementary school projects.

This place has always been our favorite for many many years . We love coming here to pick up or dine in. The food is always delicious. The owners have always been so nice and friendly. The best Chinese food in town!! You gotta eat here or take home food great deals!

The food quality far exceeds the price. Food is delicious, I’ve been coming here for years and this place doesn’t disappoint. Wish they had a larger parking lot, parking very limited to maybe 3 cars.

I would have given 5 stars, but I did not like the egg roll or the sweet n sour sauce. I ordered the chicken w/ cashew nuts w/pork fried rice, and my hubby ordered chicken chow mein w/ chicken fried rice. Which came with pork egg rolls. I asked the lady who took our 3 times if his noodles were going to be the "fried ones" and she replied "yes" each time. I said, "not the crunch ones, right?" She said, "right!" 🤦So what did we get, the crunchy ones. I mean, I guess the only places that know what we mean are the ones we have to physically go too. Its annoying, but I guess to get the ones we want we have to explain it. I also ordered Crab Rangoon. Which I was happy about. Some places make them too greasy, but these were just right. My father n law got beef chop suey (which I dont eatand an order of shrimp fried rice. He said it was very good. All of that came to $35.54! Which I have to say was a pretty good deal!! Usually when we order from other places, it can get pretty pricey. I think we found our new spot! 😁👍

I think the food is simply okay, I get food here for my landlady. I saw that they have new cooks in the kitchen so I tried them again, the food was still only okay, eggroles too tiny. Hong Kong is way better, but if you dont have transportation, its after hours, or you live nearby, this is the spot. The food tastes better when you give them direction on how you like it prepared!

This is my favorite local Ma & Pa Chinese restaurant. They unfortunately work to hard and are continuously open for business. Good for us bad for them. Love the food. Super nice people. Thanks Bill, Lisa & Kiera. You guys are the best.

Ill admit the good was pretty decent considering that the owner screwed up our order and he kindly exchanged us for the right one but he told us to bring back the order we first got and he threw it out right in front of my face. Seriously? I HATE when resturants screw up an order then you want me to bring it back to throw it away? Good service will give you more than ordered or tell me to keep it and pick up my original order. If I knew he would have thrown it away I would have just ate it.

I dont know why this has two dollar signs. The food is average price for any Chinese spot. The food is not mind-blowing good but it could definitely be a go-to. Even the over looked soups are delicious with perfect megaportions I love it here and will definitely come back. The only reason I didnt give it 5 was the usual takeout decor.

I ate here before going to the Genesee Theater. It was a half a block away and the food was great. The place is nothing special, you order at a counter and the decor is mostly Chinese related childrens artwork. The people there were friendly and informative, the food was excellent, and the portions were large. It may not be a date night place, but it is good Chinese food. I recommend the boneless Chinese ribs dinner.
