Chile Nativo Patagonia Travel - Sightseeing Tour Agency in Puerto Natales, Chile
My wife and I worked with Chile Nativo to schedule a self-guided W-Trek for October 2022 with a private room in the refugios along the route. They also scheduled follow on days at the Hotel Lago Grey and a kayak excursion (Kayaks sin Fronteras), and horseback riding (Pingo Salvaje). We couldnt have been happier with the communication and assistance - the trip exceeded our expectations and the transfers from Punta Arenas to the park and back were well managed as well. It helped that we had great weather, but Chile Nativo handled all of the details and any complications that arose while providing us with everything we needed for a successful trip! Thank you!
I completed the W Trek with Chile Nativo this past September as part of a guided group. Our guides were incredible - extremely knowledgeable, friendly, passionate and amazing at leading a group of adventurers efficiently and professionally. The gear provided by Chile Nativo including sleeping bags, tents, and mats were top-notch. I enjoyed some of the most beautiful trekking I have ever experienced on this tour, and dont even get me started on the food we enjoyed along the way - just wow! There were issues with my flights on arrival, and Chile Nativo dealt with this curveball like true stars - making the necessary changes to get me where I needed to be to join the group on arriving a day late.Hats off to the entire Chile Nativo team - I cant recommend this company highly enough!
Sent partial refund for missed trip.
This is one of the established and reputable outfits (recommended by Lonely Planet that organizes the O trek, they are able to arrange relatively economical bookings. Their O trek is all camping, not a complete circle, and their standard tour misses the leg between the French Valley and the Tower hike, along the lake, if that matters to you. Unfortunately, we had to cancel due to COVID during peak season and they tried but werent able to rebook our tour on short notice, so we had to write off the complete cost of the tour (nonrefundable, fortunately we had insurance), and found another operator who was able to book the entire tour for us. During busy season they sometime dont answer the phone and it can take a day to get a response by email, so I was frustrated with the level of communication, which was not at all the case with our final operator. So be sure and insure your trip and dont expect miracles. Best to avoid the busy month of February. (edited 3/2/22)
Buena
We spent 7 days on the O trek with Chile Nativo and could not have loved it more. Everything was seamless, from pick up to drop off. Our guides Mauricio and Santiago were fantastic - special shoutout to Santiago for his amazing pre-dinner snack platters! Having two guides also meant our group of 8 could split up allowing everyone to walk at a pace that was comfortable for them. Highly recommend!
We chose the DIscovering Torres del Paine as a trek that allowed us to stay in hotels (versus either camping or bunk roomsand that included hikes both outside the park and within the parks famed "W" trail. We are so glad we did! The off-circuit hikes were peaceful and stunning (as were the on-circuit hikes, but they were more crowded). Everything on the tour was carefully planned and well executed, down to my gluten-free gourmet sandwiches in the sack lunches. Best of all, we truly felt we won the leader lottery with the brilliant, warm, and fun Francisca! Her passion for all things Torres del Paine, from explaining grand-scale geological history to appreciating the smallest flower, was truly infectious. We laughed and learned and had so much fun the whole time. And our driver Billy was also fantastic. He went out of his way to add extras to our trip, like the opportunity to watch sheep shearing on the Estancia where we stayed for our final night. And due to Franciscas persistence and strong relationships with rangers in the parks, we were able to locate and watch a mother puma with her three cubs on our final day of the trek. I highly recommend Chile Nativo!
We had an absolutely fantastic trip (3-Day Torres del Paine Fast-track W; plus extra kayak day). The hiking was rigorous, but not too much for us 50-somethings plus our 20yo son who went faster. We loved our guide, Pepa, who was wonderful and so fun to hike and have conversations with in English or Spanish. The Serrano Camp was a lovely spot with views of the entire Paine Massif, and we even saw a puma our last night. The food was great and the tents were very comfortable, despite a mattress that deflated over the first night, but the camp staff were very helpful in replacing it. For our trip we were paired with 3 women friends in their 30s who we really enjoyed meeting, and its great that Chile Nativo limits group-size. Overall, Chile Nativo was great with all the logistics, and I would very highly recommend them. If you get Pepa as your guide, you are lucky! We also loved our kayaking day (organized by Chile Nativoon Rio Grey with Jose, owner-guide of Kayak Sin Fronteras - the windy kayaking was exciting, beautiful and the lunch was amazing! We also did a one-day penguin tour which Chile Nativo organized with Solo Expediciones, from Puerto Natales to Isla Magdalena, which was great and totally worthwhile. All in all, a Patagonia trip of a lifetime - Thank you!
We have recently completed the Paine Massive Circuit (known by tourists as the "O" trekthrough Chile Nativo who were booked via our UK Travel Agent. We had a guide and were a group of 3 with 1 guide and 2 porters for the 7 day camping trek. Our guide, Mauricio was amazing and we would highly recommend having a guide for the circuit trek. The weather in Patagonia changes very quickly and this challenging route definitely requires people who know what they are doing. For us we ended up doing the John Gardener Pass in 1.5m snow and white outs, we were extremely grateful for having Mauricio and our porters at that point. On top of that, Maurico was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, a perfect pace setter (which is super important for such a long stint of walking), great company, very useful at campsites and refugios (with insider tips and guidanceand we really felt in safe hands at all times. Patagonia is such an amazing and beautiful place buts its also brutal, a real challenge and very very windy!! If youre toying between the full circuit or the W trek then 100% do the full circuit. Its more challenging but you are fully rewarded with quieter trails, more stunning scenary and tranquil campsites and refugios. We had the most amazing time, a lot of that was down to Mauricio (via Chile Nativoso we would highly recommend these guys. By the way, you dont have to be the most seasoned walker or mountaineer to do this, you just need to love the outdoors, be up for a physical and mental challenge and most importantly be fully equipped with the right gear
I did the Fjord Trail with Chile Nativo and it was beautiful! The landscapes surpass what you can even imagine. We were the only ones in nature for 3 days! The horses were nice, I had never done this before and I felt safe. I was never cold at night (make sure you rent your sleeping bag for this). We finished our tour with a boat trip on the Serrano River, back to Puerto Natales and we got to see the Balmacero Glacier and the Serrano Glacier (and walk around it). It is well organized and definitely a different way to travel and see nature in Patagonia !
Be careful. Know that once you get into the Gran Paine park, its super crowded. And this group sits in their office, not the park. We were left to fend for ourselves when sleeping bags and tents were short. No one to call. With a little Spanish and many tips in cash, we slept under mattresses from the comfy rooms we were supposed to be in. I dont mind errors. But lazy and sloppy are a nasty cocktail when youre in Patagonia and the weather turns. Imagine an 8 hour hike thru 40 kmh rain to discover they cant find your reservation. Cant call this group from the park. And all the people that blew past you have scoured the rooms, tents, etc. The other groups have Locals, who are friends/relations of the park staff. Think youll be served expediently? If thats the sort of adventure travel your heart desires, this is your group. Sign up!

Just returned from a 4-day partial W trek booked via Chile Nativo (no guideand are still reeling. It was perfect. They made everything so easy, and while we absolutely could have booked independently, having CN take care of the details (like sending a private van at no additional charge when the team realized our initerary didn’t match the bus times in a way that ensured us making our flight out of Punta Arenas that nightallowed us to be fully present and enjoy the full adventure with no worries or cares in the world. So super satisfied with the Torres to Frances to Paine Grande to Lake Grey itinerary and refugio accomodations (with meals). Might reccomend skipping bagged lunch and bringing pbj and snacks or avocados and easy fruits and bars along, but all other meals were great and greatly appreciated after long days of hiking. Book with Chile Nativo for sure.
