Beyond my expectations.I went to this place with my expectations pretty high based on the reviews. Nevertheless I was pleasantly surprise by the level of the menu and the great service. Totally recommended!!

Fantastic store. Only place we found to get lovely, authentic crafts made by the people of Costa Rica. We got some pottery, a wood carving (painted), and a couple lovely prints (wood block I believe). Together with the mercado central and some of the fantastic restaurants in town, this is one of the top reasons to stop in San Jose as a tourist.

After a disappointing experience at the mercado de artesanias, I was happy to find this amazing little place. The staff was really friendly and helped me learn more about indigenous culture and the artists represented. I bought two wonderful items that were reasonably priced, especially considering the amount of work that had gone into making the items. Avoid the "Made in China" stuff at the mercado de artesanias and go directly to Chietón to support indigenous artists and their culture.

Unglaublich toller Laden mit einem super Konzept. Das Geld geht komplett an die indigene Bevölkerung und die Verkäufer sind Freiwillige. Keine Scheu - unbedingt klingeln! Hier sollte jeder ein tolles Andenken an Costa Rica finden! Kauft lieber hier als auf dem Markt.

And between all those scamy annoying made in china souvenirs shops all around San Jose, you have this awesome place with real costarican stuff made by real natives, supporting those natives. Buy as much stuff as you can.

Absolutes MUSS! Toller Shop um ein Andenken / Souvenir zu kaufen! Man unterstüzt damit die benachteiligte indigene Bevölkerungsgruppe. Sehr schöne und preiswerte Artikel. Wer in San Jóse ist sollte unbedingt vorbei schauen. Einfach toll, sein Geld in etwas handgemachtes zu investieren und erst noch etwas gutes zu tun.

Un local de artesanias indigenas diferente que ofrece muchos talleres interesantes que a la vez permite una cercania con varias comunidades indigenas. Insto a que se inscriban en sus talleres y compren artesanias unicas y hechas con mucho amor.

Cute little shop and museum. The staff offered a brief and simple explanation of the fair trade goods offered. This is an excellent fair trade artisan shop where you can also read about and learn about some of the indigenous peoples of Costa Rica.

We went here on our last day of our holiday. The employees are very friendly and explained a lot about their products. We even met someone from the village where the masks were made. They are fair trade so the original artists will receive the money for their products. You should definately visit this place!

After a disappointing experience at the so-called National Craft Market (Mercado Municipal de Artesanías), we found this small shop full of real handcraft.The staff is formed by volunteers that are quite knowledgeable on the origin of the exposed pieces and were very gentle and helpful. They told us the shop is an initiative of the several Costa Rican indigenous tribes, which are the owners of the business. The pieces are all identified with the people (tribe?from where comes the artisan, the artists name, and the price he chose for this piece. Prices in general are fair, even though there is much variation among artists, which I consider fully understandable.There are pottery, carvings, clothes and many other types of craft.We bought four pieces, from different origins, and we are finally very happy for helping these cultures to continue to thrive.

Lugar con artesanías hechas por indígenas de la comunidad, son más caras que las del mercado municipal, pero aquí ayudan a quuen las hace.
