Chez Mario - Italian restaurant in Lausanne, Switzerland
Definetly recommended!!!!!!!!
If you want a good pizza, thats definitely the place! If you want a nice ambience and view, I wouldnt recommend to go there. The hand tags on the walls render the place a bit strange. The service is fine, a bit slow sometimes if a lot of customers are present. The wine is good with a reduced price if a pot is taken instead of individual glasses. I would recommend it for a nice meal between friends:)
Pizzas were okay, Lasagne is not recommended (very dry, very little meat... you basically eat just the pasta sheets). We arrived before most people came to eat and the service was already slow; we waited 20 minutes for someone to take our order for drinks. Later, the restaurant was filled and service got worse. Far too few employees to handle all the people and waiting times become longer.
Oldest pizzeria in Lausanne (or Switzerland?). Great pizza and many options.
Nice place. Friendly staff even when very big group ! Good pizzas and good price
Waited over an hour to get the food, got wrong drink orders, and only half of the group got asked for drinks. This is ridiculous…
Best pizza in the city excellent staff
Very good and authentic pizzas
A terrible evening.the service was slow and we were often ignored even though it wasnt as busy as it can be.And to top it off our pizza was burnt.when I showed the burnt pizza I was simply told it wont be charged as if that without an apology was enough to make up for the evening.
The pizza was good, the rest was terrible. We came with a party of 10 people. After a long wait, we basically became unpaid employees. The waiter gave us a pen and paper to write our own order, which we had to bring to the kitchen. The wine and beers came about 10 minutes after the pizza, without the tap water we asked for.- May we have tap water please?- still or sparkling?- tap water please :)- so still.- tap water? The waiter brought a single tap water bottle for 10 people and no glasses. When he came to pick up the plates, he asked for us to pass the plates over. We were glad we didnt have to clean the dishes! We werent offered desert. We were asked to pay the bill at the till. If only we had received a tip. Wont return. Shame though, its a good pizza.
Food was good, the service was unacceptableWe waited so long to order, the waiter was unfriendly...
Delicious Italian Pizza, Switzerland price.Homemade panna cota is Really good.
Cool space and nice pizza!
The best Pizza in Lausanne for sure!
Love this place 🥰 the pizza is absolutely delicious and the atmosphere feels like you’re in Italy . Highly recommended 🙌
Super service, super pizza, super dessert
Best Pizza Ive eaten for a long time!
A unique place in the center of lausanne, if it is your first time youll hesitate to get in but it is worth to do it.
The legendary place in Lausanne. Great food, great people. Staff was all by himself and felt sorry for him, but he managed perfectly
Very interesting decor is the first thing that hits you when you get there! Very helpful staff (speaking Italian which bodes well for the pizza to come), but fortunately very good English to counterbalance my terrible French. The food was quick to arrive, looked great (see photos), and tasted amazing. Price wise I would say average for Swiss restaurants. We arrived early so got seated immediately, but there was a queue later as we left.Well worth an evening out with friends.
Amazing pizza and friendly service.Very cool location.
Good pizza, not my favorite. The service is good.
Service was relatively slow. Customers arriving after us were ordering before us. However, the pizza was very well-made and tasty.
Love the Restaurant. Always full. Best Pizza in Town!!
I didnt like the pizza at all. This place has nothing to do with a Neapolitan pizza. Dont go if you are looking for a typical pizza. If you want tasteless dough with molten cheese, feel free.
Pizza is good (we took 3 kinds), but I wouldnt say itis perfect, as Ive read in reviews before going there. Someone already commented on the quality of mozarella in pizza - it does not seem great. In terms of place itself - it is in the old building facing one side (terraceugly internal yard between buildings and windows of the main room face the street. Main room is not nice, lacks fresh air and a bit tight sitting. Terrace is a shame. Walls are all covered with text and pictures (it is alowed to leave your mark), but if it was on normal rennovated interior, could be good... But the place looks like it had not seen rennovation too long. So, I think it is for nostalig people who used to come here many yers ago. Or for young people who look for kind of "underground" style place... This is personal opinion.
Poor chewy cheese for an expensive pizza while city in a cramped corner behind the kitchen... Definitely what it use to be like at Mario. While I use to come often, Ill never be coming back after that!
Good pizzas. Lots of stuffing. Not necessarily the tastiest, but still good. Recommended if you favor quantity with a decent quality.
One of the oldest pizzerias in lausanne . Very tasty food and great quality !
Best pizza place in Lausanne with great quality and reasonable price. Had a lot of wonderful memories in this place during my 3 years living in Lausanne. Missing it a lot
Might be the best pizza in Romandie. Great service, funky atmosphere. Great place if you want a lively dinner. Not so great if you’re looking for a quiet romantic dinner because it is quite noisy when busy.
On the first floor of a building, this place is not like any other. You can doodle on the walls, and it gives its unique atmosphere to the restaurant. The pizzas are delicious. Its often crowed, and you may have to wait a while if you dont go early. The ice cream is great too!
Nice and special place with the traditional doodled walls. The place is often crowded. People are friendly and professional. Very good food with a special attention to local and healthy products. This is one of the best Italian restaurants I know.If you like my review, give it a thumb 🙂
Bad service, unpleasant behavior from staff. Its clear this restaurant has no real manager or owner present. Chairs are too low, small and horribly uncomfortable. This place should get a new owner and a complete lifting. I went there many times, and that was the last.
4 cheese pizza is really nice. Lasagna is very rich and cheesy! Tastes are amazing but restaurant is too noisy. So many people and packed
One of the oldest pizzerias in lausanne , great atmosphere, great vibe and amazing food . Vast choice of pizzas and you can always end it with a pizza nutella . A must try when in Lausanne.
My mum insisted on going back here. She used to go in the 80s and apparently its barely changed! The graffiti on the walls is really charming and shows how much the locals really love this place. Contrary to popular belief the walls are painted over every couple of years. When youre heading in youll walk down a dark graffiti covered corridor, dont be put off! Great food and friendly staff at a reasonable price.
awesome! I did not expect that the pizza in this restaurant will be the same as in Italy! I recommend everyone to try! she is wonderful! kids love it! We came as a family from Kazakhstan and we will miss this atmosphere and delicious pizza!
The best pizza I tried, like in Italy, was in a restaurant with my family, amazing atmosphere, the best pizza cook! Now, when will I’m in town, I’ll have dinner at Chez Mario! Thanks for a amezing lunch! My score pizza cook 5!You are the best!
Great pizza, great service. It was super packed when we arrived, but they seated the 5 of us within 10-15 min. The wine the waiter recommended was delicious as well.
Really tasty pizzas in the normal price range of Lausanne Italian restaurants. The ingredients taste fresh and the dough has a real feel making the pizzas memorable. You can also take home the rest of your food! The staff is really friendly speaking Italian, French and occasionally a word of English, but you will never have trouble to communicate your wishes. The place can be described from lively to noisy with a big crowd chattering or laughing at all times. The decoration is industrial that adds a nice feel to the place although its not to my liking. All in all, i recommend this place for a delicious pizza meal coupled with a wine or beer for a chatty afternoon.
Great choice of pizza with a very high quality of the ingredient and a excellent quality/price ratio (e. G the pizza Margherita is only 14 CHF that is below of the normal average cost in Lausanne). The only "negative point" is that the restaurant will not accept any table reservation. So the earliest you arrived the faster you can find a table.
The best real South Italian pizza you can eat in Lausanne. Service is quick, the Italian staff is very friendly and funny. The place is cozy and very interestingly the walls are full of writings.
Good pizza and fun that you can write on all the walls
Pizzas are delicious there. There are a lot of toppings on them! We were at the terrasse and there was a lot of noise which can be a pain. And the waiter was overwhelmed by the people. However, its really fun that we can write/draw on the walls. So, if you want a good pizza and draw on some walls, definitely go there!
The pizza at Marios is delicious, I loved each bit of it. The dough is perfect, the atmosphere is authentic and warm. I will definitely come again.
The food was very nice but nothing exceptional. Took a while to be served. The interior design is cool - they give you pens to draw and scribble on the walls. A nice experience but we were rushed out at the end so they could give our table to someone else.
The Pizza at Chez Mario is delicious! You cant make reservations and the place is quite special :On certain days they have very good student deals (two for one), but Im not sure when because Ive been a couple of times and its never the same (sometimes 20% off for students, sometimes two for one). But the Pizza is definitely superbe!
The unlikely combination of peoples art and Italian food that work perfectly hand in hand. Although a pizzeria, with tasty and wonderfully made pizzas, they also serve very good pasta plates. Book in advance, the place is always full. Being only 2 and / or speaking Italian is an advantage... :)
Nice simple pizzeria. The food and the service are great as expected with standard choice of poses and other Italian dishes. The walls are covered in clients signatures, get a marker and add one of your own!
