Chester Lodge - in Sandown, United Kingdom
Chester Lodge in Sandown
Description
I went to Chester Lodge Hotel in May and this is my honest opinion on the accommodation, although it might differ from others, this was the experience I had. I came to this hotel on holiday with my school, but it was more like a house than a hotel. The bedroom was tiny, not large enough for six people. We were told that the bunks were brand-new, yet my friends found dirt and rust on theirs, which probably meant they were second-hand. Also in the small bathroom, the net curtains had what looked like black mould on them. There was only a shower(no bath), and to get hot water from it, you had to turn the tap on hot water first. No soap was provided for the sink, so I had to share my hand-wash soap. I was also the only person who brought shampoo/conditioner, although both me and my friend brought body-wash. There was also a consistent smell of damp and mould throughout the hotel. The food wasnt good and the scrambled eggs were runny. I most certainly wouldnt recommend this hotel, as I know it would ruin your stay in the Isle of Wight.
MoreLocated quite close to all attractions in sandow as well to seafront. Walking distance to Shanklin via the Revetment.Room doesnt have hair dryer, which should be a good addition to have.
MoreWent here with my school it was poor quality and my shower in my room didn’t have a lock that worked I stayed for 4 days and completely hated it a part from the staff who were really nice and especially Sui who served me my food but sadly the food was far from quality and tasted awful personally I would not go here again it’s not worth it
MoreEnjoyed stay there went with my brother and friend robin had 3single rooms was nice quiet location and friendly hosts , would go again if visiting sandown
MoreHost very helpful and sympathetic. Close to main attractions.
ADVOID AT ALL COSTS! Awful customer service and staff are rude. Booked a room 4 days prior to my stay however was told when I got there that my room had been double booked and me and my family wouldn’t be able to stay? Why was I not told this before hand? Staff members then told me we couldn’t stay because the room was only booked for 4 people and we had 6 but this still doesn’t explain why my wife and 3 children couldn’t have stayed in the room booked for 4 people. Staff have no clue what they’re doing, very unprofessional and I will definitely be getting my money back!
MoreGood place to bed down in Sandown IOW. Great location for access to beach and coastal path - And Free parking 👍
MoreQuikery, a little dated but comfortable, great location and great hosts.
This place should be called stingy lodge old outdated building breakfast was like a childs dinner party everything creeks like beds floor boards etc you hear every move anyone makes we paid £130 for 1 night (thank god only one nightif it was like £70 i wouldnt mind so much
MoreThis place is just brilliant. We arrived early at 9am and were allowed to leave our bags in a secure room while we went out for the day, even though our room was available at 11am, We were greater by very friendly and helpful staff. When we arrived back again early afternoon to check in to our room, we were greated by Brian who is a very nice man, very helpful very informative and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean, as was our room, its an old hotel, with old features but very very good. All of the staff are extremely helpful and polite and great with our kids.In the morning breakfast again exceeded our expectations- plentiful, good quality and nice and hot.All round amazing hotel for all types of guest. We have 4 days left of our holiday and Im already looking to book again soon.Thank you Brian and your team 👍
Morethe people who works there are very kind... the place is like 5 mins walk to the beach. bus stop is nearby as well...
MoreOk bit dated and pricey for what it is
Bardzo ubogie pokoje , łazienka beż umywalki, ogólnie wrażenie Bardzo staromodnego pensjonatu. Obsługa bardzo miła. Śniadania smaczne , bez limitu.
MoreIt was great
Room was really outdated and the room was cleaned but not at high satisfaction. The water pressure in the shower was absolutely terrible also the bathroom door had no lock and there was not much facilities. My room had hardly any space for my family ( four people in that room. Breakfast was good and the location as the hotel was right next to the beach and pier it also has Sainsbury’s and Tesco express near. The staff was absolutely friendly and parking is great. The WIFI was really good. But I would not be staying their again as the room weren’t that good to my standards.
MoreNot good, really needs updating. Smell of damp. Didnt get our requirements from bookings.com,so not happy. Cold breakfast. Hygiene cert and pat test for electrics out of date.
MoreThe place is run by Barry, super passionate and super eager to help. We were bowled over by his hospitality. The Lodges interiors however (as this was my first visit to the Isle, and I have nothing to compare it with on the islandneeds updating. On the positive side, the lodge is 3-5 min walk from the beach and everything else.
MoreGreat hotel, very good value, nice clean place to stay very close to the beach for the kids, had good free WiFi and food was very nice, the staff were always extremely helpful. So much to do and see we will be back for sure.
MoreThe place is a little dated and overpriced but the staff very friendly and helpful. We had a good size family room with en suite. Comfy beds and clean towels. Breakfast could be better.
MoreI couldnt rate this place highly enough. They go out of their way to help you with whatever you need and the hotel is super cute and comfortable.
MoreWent on a school trip the beds were awful and the shower was nothing but a drip cameras everywhere!

MoreBreakfast was alful and small less than a kids meal wont be rushing back

Very good and friendly. Easy access to all amenities.
Lovely little b and b. Staff could not be any more helpful. Breakfast lovely and free parking. Recommended
MoreVery helpful owner who briefed us about the places to visit in isle of wight. Was very helpful as it was our first time in IOW. Lots of restaurants, shops near it and sandown beach is just 5 mins walk from the hotel. The bunk bed was a bit squeaky and the window was dated... the toilet door needs painting on the glass. other than that we had a good time during our stay. Definitely recommend..
