Very sad to know this wonderful place is closing this week after 36 years. Many family gatherings remembered.
Great food and great service! After 37 years, they will be shutting down on Sept 18th, 2022. Get in there while you still can!
I JUST RECEIVED DISCRIMINATION FROM THIS WOMAN, MY BOYFRIEND AND I JUST RAN OUT OF THE RESTAURANT.I WILL REPORT YOUR RESTAURANT TO THE POLICE
Because they are closing soon, we wanted to give the last chance , but it went from bad to worse .We arrived for early dinner late lunch before 3pm and rude busy waitresses asked us to wait between 5 to 10 minutes ….. we waited for 20 minutes and no attention …. So we left ….I guess the bad memories will remain now forever in our side . Those rude waitresses never learnt customer service .It seems that owner is retiring , that is the reason they are closing forever …. Besides too much competition in the area and with such terrible customer service ….. no success at all
I ordered the fish tacos, which were very disappointing. The portion only came with 2 tacos with very little fish and lots of filler vegetables. This is definitely not worth the $20 - a rip off. I had the chicken pot pie and shepherds pie which were okay. A little salty. The shepherds pie had imitation crab which is surprising because its a "seafood restaurant". The fries were yummy. The service was mediocre. The server seemed irritated and upset. I will not come back.
Great family lunch. Very good service. View is of course incredible. Will be better when they finish the renovations at Londsdale Quay.
Great all around! went for lunch here today after several friends had recommended it and it did not disappoint. Their menu was ample and quite varied and prices quite competitive. The service was great; they were short staffed but our server Jana was amazing; friendly, courteous and accommodating the desserts were epic and I had the meatloaf...it was juicy and well served!! highly recommend this place atop Lonsdale Quay with a great view and nice patio!! THX
I dropped in here for a beer, nice staff and good selection. Daughter had a lemonade and did some art while we took a break. Good place to chill while your wife gets her hair done in the salon a few stores over. They even comped my daughters lemonade, Thank you! Great patio with ocean view.
Nice scenic place on the water. Friendly staff. A little disappointed about the small soda glass and limit of 1 refill
Great restaurant with lovely interior located right on the waterfront in North Van. Staff was amazing and the fish & chips was good, too. However, the steak and shrimps on mashed potatoes was mediocre and lacked presentation.
Fishermans pie was always a favorite. My wifes only had one chunk of fish and a mash up...one shrimp ..loaded with too much mash potato. It was my wifes favorite meal other than the prime rib at the Murryville Pub Friday and Saturday night. The black bean vinegarette salad dressing was different too. No zap. Well be thinking long and hard before a return trip unfortunately. Apparently they have a new chef.
In Vancouver on vacation. Have been to this restaurant twice. The service is great and the food is A+++++. Will definitely be returning again.
Great service, great food, great beer
Used to be my go to brunch place when I come over to North Van but it’s gone down hill quickly since I believe new owners took over. The prices have sky rocketed and the portions have got smaller. I ordered a beef dip ($20and it had Im not kidding 7 fries on the plate. Cactus Club opening literally 30 feet away soon …… get it together CC or I fear your days are done.
Wonderful little restaurant right on the water. Great food and exceptional customer service. We went for lunch and had such a nice time, our waitress was so nice and friendly, checking in on us at exactly the right times, and we got our food and drinks Im a timely fashion. Definitely our new favorite date spot. Thank you for the lovely afternoon!
This was a surprise find. Never knew about this restaurant but sort of stumbled into it because the market was closing so soon on a Sunday night. As we browsed around for a place to grab a bite, Cheshire presented itself. 😀 was a very pleasant find. Great comfort food options with all the yummy pies 🥧, stew, prime rib and much more options at reasonable prices. We had the Irish ☘️ lamb stew and seafood pie for first time as highly recommended and was all good. One small note the seafood pie could have been a little hotter in temp. Stew was piping hot and delicious with fresh crunchy veggies 🥕 service was great. We will be back to try other pies 😋
Love the vintage classy bar and resto.Seafood & British cuisine are served in an airy, relaxed space with a bar & a waterfront deck. From Cheshire Cheese Restaurant & Bar"The Cheshire Cheese Restaurant and Bar serves up fresh, local seafood and traditional British dishes in a beautiful waterfront setting overlooking downtown Vancouver and beyond. Situated right at the water’s edge at the Lonsdale Quay Market in North Vancouver
My sister in law in Australia did a Google search for the best steak and kidney pie(my favein Vancouver. The Cheshire Cheese was the winner, so off we went for my birthday. The pie was fantastic as was the service. The cherry on top was meeting some new friends. We hit it off so well we met then at the Cheese a second time. Could become our new local.
Service was excellent. Ordered calamari and chicken pie. Food portion could be bigger though. Burger was good.
great view and lunch with friends in lonsdale, not too busy , only complaint was the service a little slow and had to ask many times just refill coffee , I needed my caffeine was tired still , so maybe this review a little biased
Went there for Saturday Prime rib Special, came with the whole nine yards, a big fluffy yorkshire, Prime Rib Roast, Veggies and Garlic Mashed Potatoes! Definitely will be back.
I had chicken tenders and was quite tasty. Hubby had calmari. Was very good. Tender. Salads were fresh. Homemade dill dressing and honey mustard dip. Would recommend. Service top notch.
Very good food, gorgeous view, reasonable prices and not crowded. Service was friendly and fast! Will be back! Summer looks like it would be great on the deck!
Ok, so let me just tell you right now I love this place, I have loved it for years but I havent been in a while because of covid. They still have extra delicious food, and friendly employees. A great place to have lunch with friends and catch up. And the views are awesome as well! A Lonsdale Quay highlight.
It was a beautiful day today, but it was ruined when I got the bill. They added 15% service tax to the bill. They didnt tell me that even when they using the pos machine, still have the extra tip option at the end. I dont want to talk about such naive topics as racial discrimination, but why is it me? I read that 3 days ago bill on google review, they don’t have extra 15% service charge, This is unfair treatment ,the only reason maybe because I’m only one Asian face person in the restaurant,I have immigrated to Canada for more than ten years. The first time I was treated like this, am I like an Asian tourist? Or am I like a rich Chinese who doesnt know how to tip? Every time I go to the restaurant, I pay the tip even if their service attitude is poor. . .This is as embarrassing as your friend invites you to his birthday party and he forces you to buy him gifts. The food is not fresh at all, The bread is also very hard to bite .but the price is very reasonable. Two stars give the restaurants environment and scenery. I dont want to argue with them in the restaurant. This is not my style. I hope your guys will not treat other guests differently in the future. It is easy to make people suspect that you are racist.
Good food, good drinks, nice location, independent restaurant. We have had the prime rib, shepherds pie, spinach omelette and beef dip over a couple visits. All were very good. Staff is friendly and efficient, although they seem a bit understaffed. Will return for sure. Recommended.
This place has sooooo much potential. As an expat, i was delighted to see they offered snakebite, shandy, & lager & lime on the drinks menu. Some pub classics. I also loved that they offered trifle! The vibe was somewhere between an English style pub, & a tea room, but it didn’t quite seem to hit the right mark. If they offered afternoon tea, some scones perhaps i would totally be back to try it out. Lovely view as well. Perhaps capitalize on the name of the pub & offer a signature dish, cheshire cheese/ ploughman lunch perhaps?
I ate here about a year ago as an anniversary dinner after finding all other restaurants in the area packed to the gills. Although service was excellent, the food is okay at best and the drinks were not very good at all. We had a bit of sticker shock when the bill came considering we ordered only two dinners and two drinks. I cant recommend it.
We attended this restaurant end of Sept. 2021 and it was our worst ever experience! The clams were spoiled, the quiche tasteless with tiny cannnd shrimp in it and the $30.00 prine rib was not prime rib. It was thin, tough and the "au jus" was ordered in?Dont go there! No apology or comp@
It was nice to find this standalone restaurant at Lonsdale Quay slightly tucked away. I am a fan bar food, English fish & chips almost as much as I love pho noodles. I am sure there are many more restaurants to try on the north shore but I wouldnt hesitate to come back or bring a friend here. Recommended for a casual dining experience thats suitable for kids and families.
Incredible experience! The location was so amazing, the food was excellent, the server (Larry was his name Im surewas so friendly, helpful, and personable! Coming here was probably one of the highlights of our holiday. I so wish we could have stayed so much longer! Thank you for providing such a great service, we are so grateful.
You know. I’ve been coming here for at least ten years and never had a bad meal. Good simple food and super consistent for the most.Staff are friendly and awesome patio.
The food was delicious, the drinks were great, service was prompt... maybe too prompt. Our server would get impatient when taking our orders (for a large groupand would walk away half way through taking orders if not everyone was answering promptly and tell us she would come back. At the end of the night when she brought the bill she told us she was supposed add gratuity because of our large group but she didnt because she was sure wed be very generous. We werent sure if she meant it as in, we dont have to tip the 18% shed be happy with whatever we were going to pay or if it was that she hoped wed do more... so she was either very thoughtful or slightly awkward. We really enjoy the patio overlooking the water too. Overall very nice experience and great restaurant.
My last experience was not a 5 star experience, the waitress was not as attentive as I would like. Wanted a liquor drink and waited about 20 min to order it. But overall I love this place. They have tons of regulars and friendly staff. The food is comfort food and is exactly what you find if you want pub food. The sandwiches are all awesome, the full turkey dinners are GREAT! Prime rib dinner is to die for. Reminds me of an old english Sunday roast. The fish and chips is on point with the chips being nice and crisp.Lovely English pub food.
Location was pretty good near the water, but drinks were not great. I hope they would hire a nice bartender.
Cons:The food is not really good. You pay almost $30 for a dry, not tasty, hard to bite small piece of halibut which is not greatPros:The location is amazing located in Lonsdale Quay market with a nice balcony with beautiful city and ocean view. The staff are very nice and helpful
Enjoyed a nice meal, good menu to choose from, and good service, nice place with a view of the ocean. Recommended!
Lamb curry was flavorful and filling! Will definitely order it again!
Bad service. We basically served ourselves as a buffet. Waiting for a loooong time to get the waiter come and I ordered from another waitress because my waiter was “busy” helping other clients who came later than us, then my waiter was very rudely asked me to repeat my order. I said I can’t remember. After another 20 mins out soup came with no spoon, and no water refill throughout. And the order was wrong but the waiter arrogantly said that’s why I asked you to order from me.
It was amazing. The calamari is really good, not too greasy. And the drinks were amazing. Very good.
Excellent food and excellent service! I had the salmon burger with fries and my husband had a burger with the works and both were stacked high with all the fixings and cooked to perfection. The service from Ali was also five star! Great location with convenient parking downstairs and fabulous views from the restaurant and patio. I’d 100% recommend this restaurant to others! See you again soon!
Cute pub/ restaurant in the Quay. Good food and nice staff. They had live music tonight. They were talented and good volume. The Fishermans pie and Steak and kidney pie will have us back many times.
Overpriced microwaved food. Service was really friendly, but my goodness was the food disappointing (and some of it gross). Lots of seating, nice window seating next to the water. We went here on recommendation for a good British menu, and its the tiniest part of their very general menu. Would definitely not recommend. Much better places on the quay.
We stumbled across this place during dine out vancouver - had never heard of it before! The food was amazing, we had a crab dip appetizer, the fishermans pie and Moroccan stew, and trifle and apple crumble for dessert. Really good value for money and very fast service. Neat ambiance too. The only downside was that we waited quite a while to pay and eventually went up to the bar (the restaurant had gotten quite busy). All in all a great experience though and we will definitely be back.
What a great place! I can’t believe we didn’t know about this place sooner. My husband had the prime rib, I had an appetizer and salad. Loved the food....tasty, fresh, great value. And what a cute restaurant. It was cozy and warm, with some very friendly servers running around making sure everything was to our satisfaction. Yay! We were here in the winter but I understand they have a great patio on the water for summer months. What a great find. We’ll be back! Me for the trifle (apparently, one of the only places who has it?), and my husband for the happy hour ($4 drinks!).
The Cheshire Cheese has friendly staff, a various menu that caters to everyone, amazing views, and a cozy atmosphere. Christmas decorations are up as well! Would definitely recommend.
yummy curry seafood -scallops, halibut, prawns-(curry & 🦞 I know, but it works!& awesome view/location 😎
Great food. Prices too high. Terrible service, just snotty little brat type servers. Eventually the manager took over and reversed my experience in that end. Food was great but my photo is a $30 plate. Should be $16 max for this.
Great food. Great service. Great prices. Laura, our server, was super knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions. A hidden gem!
The food was good here and so was the service. The only issue I had was that the entertainment coupon. You dont get a free meal because there is no meal under $15 So youre forced to pay something for the second meal.
